Rare reptile hatchling found on New Zealand

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – A hatchling of a rare reptile with lineage dating back to the dinosaur age has been found in the wild on the New Zealand mainland for the first time in about 200 years, a wildlife official said Thursday.
The baby tuatara was discovered by staff during routine maintenance work at the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary in the capital, Wellington, conservation manager Raewyn Empson said.
"We are all absolutely thrilled with this discovery," Empson said. "It means we have successfully re-established a breeding population back on the mainland, which is a massive breakthrough for New Zealand conservation."
Tuatara are the last lizard-like descendants of a reptile species that walked the Earth with the dinosaurs 225 million years ago, zoologists say.

Spookfish Uses Mirrors for Eyes

Odd looking? That’s an understatement. But the barrelye, better known as the spookfish, just got its claim to fame. What makes this skinny, sea creature so special? Just look into its eyes. Literally. The spookfish is the first vertebrate discovered to use mirrors for eyes. Instead of using lenses to focus light and create images, the spookfish utilizes reflective mirrors

A little Aussie humour...
An Australian ventriloquist visiting New Zealand , walks into a small village and sees a local sitting on his porch patting his dog. He figures he'll have a little fun, so he says to the Kiwi

'G'day, mind if I talk to your dog?'

Villager: 'The dog doesn't talk, you stupid Aussie.'

Ventriloquist: 'Hello dog, how's it going mate?'

Dog: 'Doin' all right.'

Kiwi: (look of extreme shock)

Ventriloquist: 'Is this villager your owner?' (pointing at the villager)

Dog: 'Yep'

Ventriloquist: 'How does he treat you?'

Dog: 'Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food and takes me to the lake once a week to play.'

Kiwi: (look of utter disbelief)

Ventriloquist: 'Mind if I talk to your horse?'

Kiwi: 'Uh, the horse doesn't talk either....I think.'

Ventriloquist: 'Hey horse, how's it going?'

Horse: 'Cool'

Kiwi: (absolutely dumbfounded)

Ventriloquist: 'Is this your owner?' (pointing at the villager)

Horse: 'Yep'

Ventriloquist: 'How does he treat you?'

Horse: 'Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements.'

Kiwi: (total look of amazement)

Ventriloquist: 'Mind if I talk to your sheep?'

Kiwi: (in a panic) 'The sheep's a liar.'

Partitioned drive. I can boot into Vista, or in a VM with Parallels. In Parallels I'm having issues with some of the drivers. It runs pretty well, the Window's Experience Index score is 5.1. I've found machines with a score of less that 4.0-4.5 struggle with Vista, mainly either memory or graphics.

My point was this..Mac OS development has gone rock solid time tested C ..If you are going to write Code for a Mac..It's in C...Often in the Windows world there is such a mix of C, C++, Visual Basic, 3rd party wrappers and various general system and DLL's calls available..the controlled or secured call to the Kernel is a challenge to a Windows Sub-System..

Congress, Democrats as they were, refused to put up with this domestic propaganda on the part of FDR. THe SCOTUS struck down the NRA and FDR was roundly condemned for attempting the court packing scheme. He had to back off.
During WW-II Congress made sure that the Office of War Information was strictly for overseas consumption. To this day government offices, like State or the old USIA, can not distribute domestically materials prepared to influence foreigners.
