Troofers need to get with the times- the new trooferism is Nirtherism.

They will just die hard like all the JFK and moonites.

What your average troofer needs can be found on the following list:

1) less drugs
2) more drugs
3) Electro-convulsive therapy
4) Mega-doses of vitamin C (to off-set the LSD)
5) Deportation
6) Some time in the nervous hospital
7) A new hobby
8) A good ass-kicking
9) Something else to talk about
10) Fewer people supporting their delusional belief systems with shoddy, you-tube sourced “proof”

I could go on, but leave it to the Lizards to flesh out the list in greater detail.

Engaging in debate with Troofer loons is exactly like arguing with YECs. You can’t argue someone out of a position he didn’t argue himself into in the first place. Faith-based beliefs are not amenable to rational discussion.

The fact that the Loose Changers and their ilk weren’t killed within hours of posting their theories and “proof” that a vast government conspiracy killed thousands of US citizens with no remorse pretty much is evidence in itself that no such conspiracy existed.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner.

This has been my standard argument vs. conspiracy theorists of all stripes for the last thirty-five years, going back to Watergate. Simply put, I ask them, “If you’re ‘knowledge’ is so dangerous to this ‘conspiracy’, why aren’t you dead yet?”

The usual response is revealing. It generally goes along the lines of “I’m so important that if anything happens to me, it will attract to much attention to ‘them’.” (There’s always a “them” in there somewhere, but generally not ants the size of Buicks.)

Plus the inevitable, “Somebody has the information, and if I’m ‘eliminated’, it goes to the Washington Post.” First of all, if they have the damning dope, why not immediately send it to the WaPO? (Woodward and Bernstein ring a bell? Anybody?) And second, if I were going to tweep somebody who “had the goods”, you can bet I’d take out whoever was holding their “insurance policy” first. (No, I’m not 007 or the Cigarette-Smoking Man, but then I didn’t get most of my ideas about law enforcement and intel work from TV, either.)

The trouble is, when you try to reason logically with someone like this, you usually find you’re dealing with a paranoiac with delusions of grandeur thrown in.

Arguing rationally with that sort of mindset is rather like King Canute having a “management conference” with the North Sea.

cheers

78 David IV of Georgia  Sun, Mar 22, 2009 4:39:53pm

Somehow the conversation at work this week turned to what happened to the third building (WTC 7). The person who mentioned it did not seem to know the third building was WTC#7 nor that the fire department was told to let it burn. He was emphatic about steel not burning from jet fuel and seemed confused when I agreed as if somehow I conceded something. (Blacksmiths bend hot iron and steel in crazy ways without ever burning it.) He was completely confused when I spoke of the fourth building (St. Nicholas Orthodox Church) destroyed in the attack. There was a fourth building? He seemed much less sure of his “conspiracy” after talking with me. I was just glad I saved someone from a little stupidity.

79 Egregious Philbin  Sun, Mar 22, 2009 5:20:54pm

Dennis Miller had a troofer caller the other night, he handled it quite well.

He asked the guy, if he really believed that his own government did such a terrible thing, why does he still live here?

If a troofer really believes the govt did it, then, if the have one shred of dignity, they need to leave this country they hate so much.

(ah, but a troofer with dignity? or a girlfriend? or a real job?…I’m dreaming.)

80 docremulac  Sun, Mar 22, 2009 5:37:43pm

I know I’ve said this before so please bear with me since I think it’s the best refutation of the troofer idiots.

I especially dislike the truther assertation that NORAD was stood down. NORAD does not stand down. Ever. Being multinational, like the article says, Canada would have have to be part of the conspiracy.

On that day, in NORAD HQ in Colorado springs, the deputy was in charge because CINC NORAD was away. Who was the deputy? A Canadian. Yep, he is now the Commander of the Canadian Air Force (we call him CAS, chief of the air staff).

The CANR (Canadian NORAD Regin) HQ is in Winnipeg. All those guys would have had to be on it too.

Why am I wasting my time going through this….

83 A.W.  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 7:15:25am

Let’s face it, any moron who is a truther for this long, is just stuck on stupid. They are beyond facts, beyond argument. So I would say, Charles, you should do this. Find the absolute best and most complete refutation possible. if necessary, write it yourself. Put a prominent link to it on the front page where truthers with some intelligence can find it. Then stop wasting your time with them. 99.9% are never going to be convinced. They are that thick headed.
