Chavez and Obama: Where Did the Love Go?

World • Views: 1,989

Venezuelan thug-in-chief Hugo Chavez has called Barack Obama an “ignoramus.”

“He goes and accuses me of exporting terrorism: the least I can say is that he’s a poor ignoramus; he should read and study a little to understand reality,” said Chavez, who heads a group of left-wing Latin American leaders opposed to the U.S. influence in the region.

ig⋅no⋅ra⋅mus   [ig-nuh-rey-muhs, -ram-uhs]
–noun, plural -mus⋅es.
an extremely ignorant person.
Origin:
1570–80; < L ignōrāmus we ignore (1st pers. pl. pres. indic. of ignōrāre to be ignorant of, ignore ); hence name of an ignorant lawyer in the play Ignoramus (1615) by the English playwright G. Ruggle, whence current sense
Synonyms:
simpleton, fool, dunce, know-nothing.

I wouldn't have stopped at Obama, Geithner and the rest of the clowns up there fit the definition pretty well.

As far as the actual far left is concerned, Obama is just that.

He's not going to to do what they want, he's not going to be what they want.

Michael Lerner's group has not given up hope--they are still sending me cheerful bulletins about how to pressure Obama to be 'the Obama we voted for'. But the actual fringe left, if they ever liked him, have gotten bored.

Dear Cindy---

Why did you leave me? Just when we were becoming friends. I remember the touch of your hand, that smile on your plain face, that sparkle in your left eye. I knew you belived in me and what I was doing. Like supplying all those New England families with cheap petrol to warm their cozy homes. I was your hero. I even let that countryman of mine play BB at Maryland. See how my people love me.

And then you left with new dreams...to take down the Imperial Nancy in her bid for another term in the House. I supported your dreams because their fulfillment would be a new dawn for the world....hope and change and high gas prices.

But you have forgotten me. Sean and Danny no longer attend my parties. And the One fails to return my threats. He is only insulting the British and begging the Iranians.....what am I to be tossed to the side like this?

No matter.....I will always have Putin. But the kiss he gave me on the cheek was nothing like yours.

Return to me and together we will fight the One. You need to get your lawn chair from Crawford and set up shop outside the swing set on the White House Lawn. Surely the One will recognize all you did to defeat the Republicans and let you bring a friend (me) to the White House.

I so want those DVD's......but he insults me and gives them to that Brown fellow...like he could even play them.

Help me, my dear Cindy. I too want to be the leader of the free world....

Holding you close to my heart when I find it......

Hugo

re: #91 Buster Bunny

We've learnt one thing in the last two weeks. That when Obama wants to, he brings down the hammer .. and brings it down hard .. and then justifies it by made-up scandal.

This is not a hot precedent. First its businessmen .. then .. doctors? or .. maybe plumbers who make over 250k?

Slightly OT (but maybe not so much so); The idea seems to be spreading, too. UK Home Sec Jacqui Smith just announced "new and stringent guidelines" for dealing with potential terrorists. Going beyond the "preventive measures" taken up to now.

/Which included no-warrant searches of the homes of Tory back-benchers looking for "incriminating documents"

Why do I get the feeling that Ms. Smith's definition of "potential terrorist profile" starts at Boris Johnson, and ends at David Cameron?

Puppy Love at the Veep's House

It was reported by ABC News' Matt Jaffe back in December, right after the Bidens got their new German Shepherd pooch, that Champ would be the name of the new puppy.

We now find out this week that the Veep's "best friend" has been attending obedience school.

A pal of the Bidens', Mark Tobin, who heads Delaware's New Castle County Police K-9 unit, has been giving Champ preliminary training.

Obi's getting slapped down right and left- first Iran and now Venezuela. We should be embarassed that our president is coming close to looking like a chump in front of the world. Russia will probably be next. What he SHOULD get from all this is that the Mr. Nice Guy routine doesn't play- these despots NEED the U.S. to be the villain.

Optimism may be in order: Obi is an awfully touchy guy. He gets bent out of shape in that holier-than-everyone-else way when he thinks he's being insulted.

Hugo

/You go, Hugo

Standard Progressive Excuse List (To Be Used In Event of Failure Of Programs);

1. They didn't try hard enough.

2. People didn't believe hard enough.

3. It wasn't properly funded.

4. Those all-powerful, unenlightened, evil, never-to-be-sufficiently-damned non-progressives sabotaged it.

At no point will any of them say, "OK, maybe our 'great idea' wasn't so great after all."

Why?

Because being "progressive", they are never, ever wrong.

And even when they are, they insist on being treated as though they are right- because they deserve it so much, on grounds of general wonderfulness.

Not exactly, but via the mandatory insurers who have a state regulatory price tag that is way too low for a doctor to perform his 'magic' in a profitable manner many doctors are having the regularly insured on a looooong waiting list whilst the privately insured are 1st class patients.
As a result of all these state mandated price tags many private practices went out of business.

CARACAS, Venezuela: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will travel to Qatar at the end of March for a summit of leaders from South America and Arab countries.

Chavez says he will also visit Iran as part of his tour for the March 31 summit in Doha, Qatar. During his decade in office, Chavez has built close ties with Iran and other Middle Eastern nations.

The Venezuelan leader said on state television Saturday that his trip would take him "possibly to Japan and other countries."

Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez has said Chavez is scheduled to travel to Japan on April 6.

Qatar has yet to emerge as a major player one way or the other in the region but it bears watching. The country is nearly 100% Islamist, predominantly Suni. They've very quietly set up an American University there (Education City), with five satellite US universities: Texas A&M, Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown, Weill Cornell Medical, and Virginia Commonwealth.

As far as doctors go, my son is a chiropractor with several Medicare patients. He moved his office to a new location in January of 2008. For some reason, Medicare had trouble processing the new location and denied every claim for almost one full year. Repeated attempts to resolve the situation were futile. He almost considered putting a halt to new Medicare patients, but couldn't bring himself to do it. The problem was finally solved, but a simple address change caused him a massive headache. Government run healthcare would be a disaster.

Will Ortega attend?

He looks to be quite sickly.

Ortega said to be in ‘very poor health’

MANAGUA: Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega is in “very poor health” and relies heavily on his wife for support, Ernesto Cardenal, a priest, poet and former culture minister said on Monday.
“Ortega is in very poor health. He has a heart illness that doesn’t allow you more than an hour of sun a day,” Cardenal said.
Consequently all the president’s activities now take place at night, he told a meeting of a media advocacy group attended by AFP.
Ortega, 63, “totally depends” on his wife Rosario Murillo, added Cardenal, who was Ortega’s culture minister during the first Sandinista government after its 1979 revolution.
Nicaragua has been in political turmoil since the Supreme Electoral Council (SLC) said Ortega’s ruling Sandinista Party had won 105 of the 146 mayoral elections on November 9, which the opposition charged were riddled with fraud.

the only reason he would say this is that he thinks he has figured out a way to get MORE money from private sources when the campaigns are Publicly funded. there's NO WAY Rangel is giving up the private dollars.

That's a genre that I've been trying to persuade my wife does exist. She can't see why I'll go out of my way to DVR Peter Cushing in whatever role he's in, or why I obsessively scroll through the listings looking for B-grade and lower sci-fi, horror, etc, from the period 1958 to 1980. Environmentally unfriendly and they could get fed funds for the personal cleanup. Unless you're talking something biodegradable like canola or flax oil. You would have to make it certified organic as well. We wouldn't want to use any man made toxins. Of course, patchuli (sp) oil would be the best.

The cheapo exploitation films are a pipeline right into the American subconscious; from The Day the Earth Stood Still through Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Wild in the Streets, etc., these films deal symbolically with American fears and concerns in a way more mainstream entertainments will not touch. Heck, even the slasher films, which I find disgusting, fall into this genre; the invariable equation of sex = horrifying death at the hands of a never-truly-killable maniac expresses the bedrock understanding that there is, indeed, a price which must be paid for sexual license despite the incessant assurances otherwise by the organs of the more mainstream media.

Yeah, there's an underlying conservatism to their narrative structure that is easy to miss, but it's there.

Did you ever watch Fawly Towers, the idiot waiter always said, "Que?"

Manuel was, in my opinion a well meaning individual, working for a certifiably insane boss. Manuel also suffered at the hands of Basil Fawlty for not having a good grasp of the English language.

Hugo Chavez has called Barack Obama an “ignoramus.”

This is great news.

It should that mean that Jon Stewart and David Letterman and Chris Matthews and the rest of the media tingle factory- who jump to attack anyone who dares say a bad word about Obama- will finally go after tyrant Hugo.

Or not.

402 odorlesspaintthinner  Sun, Mar 22, 2009 5:04:05pm

"My, what ignorance; the real obstacle to development in Latin America has been the empire that you today preside over," said Chavez, who is a fierce critic of U.S. foreign policy.

Does this criticism ever stick? We are often accused of "imperialism" by our enemies, but we certainly have nothing to show for it. Where's all our Iraqi oil wealth that we supposedly went to war to obtain? Why didn't our tanks roll triumphantly into Moscow after Communism fell? Why do we support Israel when it makes so much more sense for an "empire" like ours to align with the Arab nations instead? We ARE different. It doesn't matter if Chavez thinks so, but it does matter that OBAMA knows it.

403 experiencedtraveller  Sun, Mar 22, 2009 6:10:53pm

It is getting much worse.
Today he unlawfully seized control of ports and airfields in the hands of duly elected opposition government in effort to deny them income.
It will get worse soon.
Hope is fading throughout the country.

404 The Optimist  Sun, Mar 22, 2009 6:25:12pm

Chavez is trying to get Obama to reply in kind. Remember that George W. Bush never ever said the name “Hugo Chavez.” Obama would be wise to follow Bush’s lead and not get into the gutter with Chavez. Obama needs to walk away from this challenge. Chavez is a narcissist and will do anything to draw attention to himself.

409 Pupdawg  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 6:07:12am

...and I thought I'd never agree with Chavez on anything. Mr. T is an "ignoramus" commonly known as an idiot.

It is no easy task for one to make politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Cynthia McKinney, Maxine Waters and Jack Murtha look bright by comparison. Mr. T is up to that task.

410 marsl  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 6:36:14am

Listening to this, I make some ideas.

- Chavez is not an idiot. He realized the truth sooner than most Americans (but we, lizard, saw that first!). Obama is really an ignorant.
- After this, what will be the position of the American leftists? Stay with Obama or go with Chavéz?
- Will Obama be so criticized by Chavez as was Bush? And what will be Obama response? Kick ass or be kicked?
- And when Russia, Iran, North Korea and others do the same as Chavez, what will Obama do? Cry for a waffle? Call back Cheney, Rumsfeld and John Bolton?
