Palestinian ‘Refugees’ Refuse Food Aid from Iran

World • Views: 2,348

Iran has thoughtfully sent a shipment of food to the Nahr al-Bared “refugee camp” in Lebanon (a refugee camp that has existed for decades), a stronghold of militant Islam.

But the Palestinians in the camp are refusing to eat the food. Why? Because the Lebanese Army used sniffer dogs to search the shipment, and Islamists are disgusted and terrified by dogs: Palestinians say Lebanon army soiled Iran food aid UK.

Palestinian factions in Lebanon accused the army on Saturday of contaminating Iranian food aid destined for a refugee camp by using sniffer-dogs to search the shipment.

“Camp residents refuse to eat what the police dogs have soiled,” several Palestinian factions in northern Lebanon, including the Islamist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, said in a statement received by AFP.

It referred to a shipment donated by Iran for residents of the Nahr al-Bared camp in northern Lebanon, which was devastated by deadly battles between a fringe Islamist group and the army in 2007.

The Palestinian factions said they could no longer receive the aid and accused the army of delaying its delivery describing this as a “humiliating” act.

So, what's the problem. They stick to their cultural guns, they don't get food, other nations decide not to bother. No one should be forcing anyone to take the food.

I really don't understand why this is news, of any sort?

Maybe they're afraid the food got too close to the Iranian nuclear program and it is radioactive?

re: #18 Last Mohican

Good thought. I wonder if that's what this is really about.

That was exactly my thinking--it has nothing to do with Islam's dogma (*snicker*) that dogs are unclean. This is all about, 1.) demonstrating that Lebanon's army is a collection of infidels--Hezbollah would never do such a dispicable thing! And, 2.) possibly intimidating the army into keeping the dogs away from the next shipment.

37 That's Mr. President to you  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 9:38:04am

This is the sort of thing that is breaking down the ability of the Middle East to solve its own problems.

The insensitive use of dogs to sniff food supplies would offend any practicing Muslim. Why, when I was growing up in Indonesia we played a game my step-father taught me: "kill the running capitalist dog." My pals and I would cleanse the neighborhood of these offensive beasts.

Yes - I long for those days. But unleashing Nancy and Barney and ACORN on AIG executives is almost as much fun - even more so when you consider it was Timmy's f*** up in the first place that got those bonuses paid.

BTW - I am working on my next book - "Dreams of my step father" which is an autobiographical account in which I destroy capitalism and stimulate radical Islamists at the same time.

I'd tell them what my father used to tell us kids when we made a fuss about food: ' you can't eat it? Right - you're obviosuly not hungry - get out, no food until next meal time.'

Those 'refugees' can't be starving - so give the food to someone else!

re: #34 Big Steve

If this is ignorant, some one please enlighten me, but isn't Lebanon Islamic? I realize there are other religions there but the government is dominated by those of the muslim faith. So why wouldn't the authorities have a problem handling and using police dogs?

Lebanon is something of an anomaly among Arab countries. According to the CIA world factbook, the population of Lebanon is currently 59.7% Muslim, and 39% Christian. But just a few decades ago, the majority of Lebanese people were Christians. The demographics have shifted, due to the fact that the Muslims reproduce many times more quickly than the Christians, and many people (Christians and Muslims alike) have fled the country because it was once a civilized place, but it has now been all but annexed by the medieval thugs from Iran and Syria. Needless to say, the ones who feel most comfortable staying there are the ones who are most sympathetic to backwards Islamic extremism.

That said, none of this is really relevant to the "food sniffed by a dog" issue anyway. As far as I can tell, the use of police dogs in Muslim Arab countries is common. This is just an exercise in flexing some political muscle. Much like how Muslim taxi drivers in America refuse to carry blind passengers with seeing eye dogs, even though this practice is common in predominantly Muslim countries.

re: #18 Last Mohican

Good thought. I wonder if that's what this is really about.

I suspect this is just about the sniffing dogs, not about the unclean part. They just don't want to have dogs sniffing "any" shipment coming in or out. That way the explosives and drugs won't be found. If they complain loud and long enough to the UN that is what will happen.

Moonbat: Hey I have a great idea for Guantanamo! Lets make it a biiological research station for a joint Cuban-American research team!

The province of Guantanamo would be a perfect location for a research station because it contains some of Cuba's most spectacular natural areas, including Parque Nacional Alejandro de Humboldt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The neighboring provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Holguen also possess extensive wilderness areas, including the old-growth montane forests overlooking the Guantanamo detention center, which may be the last refuge for ivory-billed woodpeckers.

A joint US-Cuban biological research station would benefit both countries. Scores of bird species that breed in North America migrate through Cuba. Understanding climate change's effects on migratory birds matters to us all. By re-engaging Cuba, the world would also be able to take advantage of its scientific expertise and creativity.

It will take decades to repair the damage caused by the Guantanamo prison. We should start the healing process now.

Hey Mandy!

You know - I am tired.

Rahm and I had a little too much to drink after we watched my spectacularly wonderful and witty 60 Minutes segment last night. So now I am paying for it with a little hangover.

But what really has me tired was what happened when I went upstairs after Rahm left. Walked in the Royal Chamber (we've renamed the bedroom) and there was Michelle all dressed up in this Lands End / camping gettup. And she points to a folded Park Service Uniformin the corner and says "Time to play Park Ranger and the naughty camper!"

"But baby, I'm tired."

"You are always tired! Now get on that uniform or I will go Brenda Richie on your ass, Lionel!"

So I did my duty. So I am extra tired today, but thanks for asking.

Heh - at least she didn't want to play "Code Pink protester and LAPD Cop". I hate that game - the zip ties chafe my wrists and I look lousy in pink.

Never understood the infatuation with CO2 since CH4 is far bigger greenhouse gas, as well as water vapor. CO2 would be very beneficial if you happen to be a plant.

Good luck playing the humiliation card with the Lebanese tho: they don't seem to be infested with political correctness.

Indonesia: Zoo Welcomes 32 Newborn Komodo Dragons

JAKARTA, INDONESIA: An Indonesian zoo is welcoming the arrival of 32 newborn Komodo dragons.

Surabaya Zoo spokesman Agus Pangkat says the endangered lizards _ believed to number less than 4,000 in the wild _ all hatched in the last two weeks. He says 14 eggs are still under observation.

He is calling it the Komodo's most successful breeding year ever at the zoo.

He said Monday (23 March) the giant reptiles have been kept at the zoo since the early 1980s, but the newborns brought their total from 34 to 66.

Komodo dragons can grow up to 10 feet long (three meters) and weigh as much as 150 pounds (70 kilograms). They have a bite that can be deadly and can only be found in the wild on the eastern Indonesian islands of Komodo, Padar and Rinca. (AP)

When it comes to mischief you have a knack.

You tear up my stuff, you roll in the mud

I think that is your Belgian blood.

Oh wicked dog with big dark eyes,

You've ruined the yard I once did prize.

When I scold, you take it in stride

I think that comes from the Chow side.

Oh naughty dog with the upturned tail,

Who knows what each day will unveil.

A chewed pen, some paper, a book or toy,

A million things you have destroyed.

Oh mischief maker with the happy dance,

I brought you home, I took a chance.

I trusted you and you've acted so strange,

At first you were good but then you changed.

Oh trouble maker, some days I fret,

Why can't you be a normal pet?

One who obeys my every command,

Instead of a quick witted firebrand.

Oh silly pest with the muddy paws,

Yes, you who digs, you that gnaws.

For your bad behavior there is no excuse.

You aren't a good dog--but you always amuse.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

1. I love thee agreeably - enough to let your stinky doghide on the bed after a run through damp leaves, mud and slug infested gardens.

2. I love thee steadfastly - enough to devote a year to raising you from a wobbly speck into a strong healthy adult (who promptly attempts to seize control).

3. I love thee passionately - despite your repeated efforts to probe my ears, eyes and mouth with the same tongue you use for various other atrocities.

4. I love thee well - despite the amazing odors you produce.

5. I love thee deeply - though you use me as a napkin at every opportunity.

6. I love thee madly - despite the various bodily functions you have performed at inappropriate moments - in inappropriate places.

7. I love thee constantly - despite the dog "bladder curfew" I have lived by for many years.

8. I love thee truly - despite the "doggie landmines" hidden in the grass.

9. I love thee absolutely - because you never (well, hardly ever) hog the remote control.

10. I love thee gratefully - because you stay by my side (or on my side).

11. I love thee devotedly - more than clean carpeting, clothing, furniture, floors or walls.

12. I love thee bravely - enough to battle the indomitable flea on your behalf.

13. I love thee monetarily - enough to put the vet's children through college.

14. I love thee openly - I will bear any embarrassment for your furry sake.

Rahm Emanuel may have some 'splainin' to do.

Plenty of Rahm at the AIG Table

Over the past ten days, as the furor over AIG retention plan bonuses has focused on Sen. Chris Dodd and Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, the White House has undertaken a PR offensive to protect the highest ranking Obama Administration official who was involved in the House and Senate negotiations over the stimulus bill, in which the AIG waiver language was inserted.

"Right now, you get the feeling this is all about protecting [White House Chief of Staff] Rahm Emanuel,” says a former Treasury Department lawyer, who worked in that department's counsel's office on the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) before joining a D.C.-based law firm in February. "At the time, we were led to believe there were basically three or four people from the Administration at the table when the final deals were cut and one of them was Emanuel."

Just when the angry mob was ready to lay down their pitchforks...

JPMorgan Chase To Spend Millions on New Jets and Luxury Airport Hangar

On this one I think people need to stand back a bit and understand something about banking and deal making.

The US has had a hugely successful financial services sector, especially when you consider that we don't save and we don't have the productivity that we used to.

Money is the ultimate commodity - anyone with a wallet can provide it.

There are plenty of banks in Europe and Asia that have more direct access to capital. Our advantage is competence, flexibility, creativity and speed. In that sense it is a service industry.

Flattering the hell out of the players in a deal by flying them "to the table" or going out to them on a moment's notice is not only an advantage - it is fundamental to doing huge deals. Huge deals will generate the profits needed for the sector to "backfill" the holes in their balance sheets.

Certainly these jets are bought by egotistical execs who cannot justify them to shareholders - for example, I have never found a pharmaceutical exec you could adequately explain how a corporate jet has added to the bottom line. Even the biggest ones only do mergers and acquisitions once in a while - jets can be rented.

But banks? That have an M&A business? We should hope these banks taking tarp funds buy fleets of these aircraft and have them flying constantly as they outflank the European and Asian competitors so our banking sector comes out of this stronger.

But I know that the Obama Admin has neither the courage nor motivation to point this out - they'd prefer to decimate so that there are more crises to exploit.

It's not so much that he killed her. Accidents happen, and people die. That is just a sad fact of life. One we all have to face. What was dispicible about Kennedy is that he didn't crawl out of the water and dial 911. He went and hung out until he sobered up enough, and then called the cops.

Long after there was any hope of pulling her out of the wreck alive. Had Kennedy done the responsible thing, she might be alive today. What he did probably doesn't rise to the level of second degree murder, but criminally negligent homicide? It is almost a textbook case. Kennedy should have done some serious probation.

Along with some serious prison time, and the loss of his Senate Seat.

Unfortunately, the little female, 5.5 lb, yaps at the other if they go by each other, so we need to make use of child gates. I often brandish one like a lion tamer's chair. I guess that makes me a poodle tamer.

Let them starve. The less militant Islamists in the world, the better.

LOL! Our back yard is fenced in (chain link) and the fence extends on either side of the house. The pack has a cut a rut into the grass where they stand on one side of the house and bark at anyone who walks by and then run to the other side to let them have it again.
STAY THE HELL OFF OUR STREET!

Ours do the same thing, but we use an invisible fence. However some people look like they want to come in anyway.

Why take food from Iran when starving children is great PR for the anti-Semite media!

Maybe they're afraid the food got too close to the Iranian nuclear program and it is radioactive?

I'll have to pass this along to people the next time they whine about how poorly the Palestinians are being treated. They create their own problems.

Dogs are Islamic kryptonite? Who knew? I think we can solve the Israel/Palestine issue now. Donate a dog to Israel today!

There are mentally disturbed Islamists with a dog phobia in the US also. Remember those Muslim cab drivers refusing blind passengers because of their guide-dog, or refusing passengers carrying alcohol at the airport?

285 Wendya  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 12:22:27pm

Gee, let's take that money Barack is sending to the pals.... convert it into $100 bills and have a few dozen dogs roll around in it first. Do you think they'll send it back then?

286 uptight  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 12:43:43pm

from the Nahr el Bared Relief Campaign website:

We are in need of food items: macaroni, rice, and canned foods. We are also requesting clothes. We only have enough for about 50 families at the moment. We especially need conservative clothing and would love for people to donate abayas for the women of Nahr el Bared.

I suggest a new campaign: "Hotpants and Boob Tubes for Nahr El Bared."

re: #113 Last Mohican

Like I say about the Jewish crazies--the ones who want sex-segregated buses, and won't let little girls ride bikes--their grandparents didn't live like this, and neither did mine. Things that would be absolutely normal in the Muslim world a generation ago are now being magnified by the radical fringe, and cast backward as 'tradition' and then as 'law'.

re: #121 Honorary Yooper

Ick. They're not very nice at all, IMHO. The better, and nicer dogs tend to be the bigger ones bread more for working, such as huskies, labs, etc. The small ones have one hell of a mean streak.

Standard poodles are lovely, but they frighten me. Too damn smart. It's like looking into the eyes of a man wearing a poodle suit. When we ran into standards on walks, I always felt that I should thank them for playing with my dog.

289 eaglewingz08  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 3:23:44pm

This is great news for Israelis. They should have sniffer dogs inspecting all goods entering Gaza and say until Hamas recognizes Israel all goods will have to be inspected by sniffer dogs. That would be brilliant. Plus they could have dogs relieving themselves on the gaza border crossings just to remind the terrorists that there is a price to their activities. (They might spray on bacon spray on the outside walls of Gaza, but between the Israeli rabbis and the muslim deranged, that might be a bridge too far).

290 eaglewingz08  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 3:25:15pm

PS, I also believe making the cockpit controls out of pigs hide might also be a dissuasion to islamists gone wild.

291 boogereatinmoron  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 4:06:49pm

I was told by an Airline employee that she would never ship a dog on Alaska Airlines because so many of the ramp personnel are muslim and they will not care for a dog. If the dog has to spend any time in the freight room it will not get food and water or any other care. Of course this is only one small problem with having a substantial islamic presence in air transport.

292 odorlesspaintthinner  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 4:41:29pm

They hate dogs, huh? What don't they hate, besides ugly bearded men who encourage children to kill themselves?

293 Perplexed  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 6:42:25pm

Got a Corgi and an American Eskimo (snow white dog). The phone rings or you attempt to make a phone call and it becomes time to begin barking. Pretty well mannered but we've discovered that greenines (green doggie treats) are a good way to get dog fights started.

294 Laroon  Mon, Mar 23, 2009 11:14:45pm

I LOVE the "Humiliation" card - It seems to me that Muslims use it the same way we girls used to use the "I have my period" card to get out of gym class in 7th grade.

Now Barry just laughs.....ahahahaha so funny the economy is burning. And that Afghanistan? That's a real knee slapper too.

Reminds of the campaign. Do you remember Hilary's cackling tour? Maybe the TOTUS feels it worked so well for her that he should try it.
