Inside the Secret Liberal Media Email Cabal

Media • Views: 2,764

Mickey Kaus has posted a leaked series of emails from that (no longer) secret mailing list for journalists and left-wing bloggers, and it’s every bit as bad as you might have imagined; this exchange is titled: “BREAKING: Marty Peretz is a Crazy-Ass Racist.”

These are the captains of media, throwing around insults like a bunch of high school kids, where they think they won’t get caught at it.

This is so telling of their maturity.

Fan-frakking-tastic!

Kaus is doing the job that real journalists wouldn't do, while the "real" journalists are busy sniping at each other.

OT
More lying from whatever the fuck this guy is.

Barack Obama used to get very upset about federal budget deficits. Denouncing an "orgy of spending and enormous deficits," he turned to John McCain during their presidential debates last fall and said, "We have had, over the last eight years, the biggest increases in deficit spending and national debt in our history...Now we have a half-trillion deficit annually...and Sen. McCain voted for four out of five of those George Bush budgets."

That was then. Now, President Obama is asking lawmakers to vote for a budget with a deficit three times the size of the one that so disturbed candidate Obama just a few months ago. And Obama foresees, for years to come, deficits that dwarf those he felt so passionately about way, way back in 2008.

reasons.

What are those reasons? It's racist to point out legal facts?

How about this choice nugget? Don't you want to know who "Redacted" is?

It bothered me when folks where making totally unsubstantiated comments about [REDACTED!--mk]'s sex life, and it bothers me when folks make [REDACTED] jokes. To be clear, I'm totally open to legitimate commentary on the substance of anyone's argument, and people should get smacked down if they lie, if they get things wrong, etc. I think analyzing Peretz's writing about Mexicans, or Palestinians, or whoever, is totally fair game. But saying that [REDACTED] clearly must not have a girlfriend, or speculating about who [REDACTED] gets turned down by sexually are not arguments. We wouldn't take similar statements remotely seriously if they were made by conservatives about anyone on this list.

deficiencies: congenital corruption, authoritarian government,
anarchic politics, near-tropical work habits, stifling social mores,
Catholic dogma with the usual unacknowledged compromises, an anarchic counter-culture and increasingly violent modes of conflict. Then, there is the Mexican diaspora in America, hard-working and patriotic but mired in its untold numbers of illegals, about whom no one can talk with candor."

And how on Earth is that racist?

If this chain of email(s) were "in house" (from a group all working for the same company), I'd be less worried. The problem here is that the public generally believes that the "media" are in competition, with one media entity competing with another, when, in reality, they're sharing "talking points." This may explain why viewers/readers hear the same thing from supposedly "different" outlets -- the leftist press/tv shows repeat the "party lines" in multiple ways over and over again, resulting in a uniformity of views...very little real diversity of opinions.

We knew this all along. The difference is that this sort of talk used to be confined to a discreet few bars near the offices. Today, however, it's gone world-wide --Baby!

And in truth, there is nothing wrong with a Journalist who says s/he is reporting from a certain point of view. The wrong is that they ply their craft as if it were pure, snow-white unbiased truth. We all know that ain't true, and what we have here is proof positive.

I wonder what Savage is going to say when he hears what these people had to say about him...

I guess that since they do it, they assume the opposition does too.

Classical Projection. They project onto their opposition precisely what they are or would like to be doing.
It's a good tool for judging their intentions. Look at all the bad mouthing of evil rich people not paying their fair share and then when you scratch the surface - as in Obama's Cabinet appointment scandals - you find that all of the bastards find ways to not pay their own fair share..........
Bastards, every one of them..

I'm always confused - either one is true, but they claim both:

1. Rush Limbaugh (and all Conservative talk show hosts) get their opinions/facts/info straight from the RNC. Like a daily email.

OR

2. All of the Conservative talk show hosts are telling the RNC what to do.

(Can't have it both ways, but they try.)

Hmmm...so, Martin Peretz is a "crazy-ass racist" for saying that Latin American countries have a tendency toward corrupt authoritarianism, and that laziness is common south of the border.

Apparently, "crazy-ass racist" is a phrase used to describe anybody who's been to Mexico, and paid attention at least part of the time he or she was there.

For me, the real irony of this thread is the way they disparage anybody who might protest that seeing Mexico as corrupt, authoritarian and fraught with laziness has to be about race, and can't be about culture.

And yet, they all agree immigrants (legal or illegal) from Mexico are hard-working. Help me out...do their genetic characteristics change when they cross the border? Or could it be that there is something about the social and economic environment of the United States that both demands harder work and rewards it more fully?

Then again, it could be the heat. It's hot in Mexico--makes it hard to get motivated to do much.

But critical thinking of this sort is clearly beyond those on the "JournoList".

I've been wondering about this a lot lately. Here in Atlanta, our rag is so leftist that I haven't bought a copy in years, BUT I would hate for it to go away because many of the things not located in the News and Politics sections are useful.

I've heard arguments that we (Atlantans) should subscribe to keep it going for the simple reason that we need the information source.

I have another opinion:
Let them go bankrupt and then buy them outright through a group of investors at a reduced cost and create a paper that is truly reasonable and intelligent.

Problem solved.

I see no reason to support a broken system.

re: #21 MandyManners

What are those reasons? It's racist to point out legal facts?

Actually...(lol) This reminds me of CBC shortly after 9/11. In retrospect it was not without its amusing moments...that's when CBC did a major media blitz to vindicate the religion of Islam...and to focus on the multitude of "failings" of the West and to deny (vociferously) that any "problems" existed with the religion of Islam. (notably, of course, the biggest endorsers of "Islam means peace!" in the light of 9/11 weren't Muslims.) Anywho, then we here in Canada (or at least those who were back then still listening to the CBC) would be given daily lessons on Islam, its precepts, its pacificity, and to be contrasted with the horrors of Christianity, the horrors of the Crusaders, the horrors the Muslim world daily endures at the hands of Westerners, etc. And on the "black-list" of the CBC was, of course, Samuel Huntington. Why? Because Samuel Huntington had the unmitigated audacity to write that "Islam has bloody borders." For days, nay, weeks, months, years, it was pounded into every CBC listener that to even hint that "Islam has bloody borders" was to become instantaneously the world's worst racist. Thus, this phrase, along with, of course, the word "terrorist" became, in the lexicon of the CBC, taboo. These were the words that could not be spoken by any journalist (the CBC went so far as to substitute the word "militant" for "terrorist" even when directly quoting a source without bothering to let their listeners, readers, know that they had substituted words. Hence they were not even allowed to quote people accurately...that's how mindless the CBC bureaucracy is...) Anyway, the "Peretz is a racist meme" is also par for the course. Anyone who would dare suggest that cultures might differ (or have different values) is, again, instantly branded "Racist!" that's done so that all conversation ceases. There's was an interesting (controversial) book published in 2001 -- "Culture Matters" -- co-edited by Huntington which explored these politically incorrect, taboo topics...it's worth the read...(can look it up at Amazon.com, etc.)

re: #129 Kosh's Shadow

The CBC has lost ad revenue monies (they still have over a billion dollars in taxpayer's monies), so now they're into downsizing...800 jobs will be cut, and some of the CBC properties may be put up for sale. On certain topics the CBC would invariably fall off a cliff (that would be anything touching on the topic of Israel, Americans, Islam, etc.), but on other matters the CBC excelled...(some in-depth reporting was excellent, and certain reporters were truly excellent -- top rate -- I won't name them)...others, of course, should probably pursued different careers (eg, converted to Islam and preached jihad in a mosque?) Maybe a shake-up at the CBC will be a good thing? (the same political panel on "The National" -- the panel has been in existence for what -- 20 years? now -- the same people -- the "pundit" from the Globe and Mail, the former pollster, the alleged lesbian from Montreal -- the same people, 20 years later -- whatever they say, it's totally predictable -- I'd like to see some fresh faces, maybe somebody new? I stopped listening to CBC radio a decade ago...and only occasionally tune in to CBC on tv...and, then, you spot the same "political panel" doing the same as per 20 years ago...and mostly Toronto centric. It's my definition of "parochial.")
