Ry Cooder is one of those artists who is great, but I can't stand to listen to him. Something about his voice just hits me wrong, dunno what it is.

I implore all you nuts to dig some Cooder...there is a ton of music out there...he is a national treasure!...get some

Is there any C4 involved?
16 | Fenway_Nation Fri, Apr 10, 2009 8:30:42pm |
End of the 4th at Angels stadium- Red Sox trailing Anaheim 3-1. Weaver looked hittable real early and Wakefield WAS hittable, but both starters look like they've settled down for now.
Angels got their three runs in typical Angels fashion; death by 1000 cuts small ball. It's a little odd to hear Rex Hudler do some play-by-play from the NESN booth...

Senior MemberLGF is essentially an arm of AIPAC. I didn't read the site, but I suspect the comments contain references to Stormfront, Christianity, evolution, and John Birch. Let them stay home. They are exactly what's wrong with the party. They're close-minded war mongers, with loyalties that lie outside of America's best interests.

Hey y'all - wow, we had horrendous Thunderstorms, hail the size of golf balls and Tornadoes most of the late afternoon and although the weather service says danger of tornadoes has passed it's still raining like crazy.
And I'm confused by this video - last time I saw Ry he was a)older and b) somewhat, uh, heavier!
I don't get it - I first heard of Ry Cooder when he did the incredible background music for a really poor film about the National Guard down in Louisiana and I know that was in the 1980's some time. How come I'm a lot older looking now that Ry is?!

Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

with loyalties that lie outside of America's best interests
-some paulian
No, I think what lies outside of America's best interest is to fan the flames of revolution with a desire to destroy the Constitution in an effort to re-establish it. It is madness to seek to destroy what you already have to somehow make it pure. Like amputating your hand to deal with a paper cut. People who want to correct the current flaws in our system of government, who claim to love the Constitution, would work under the constraints of the Constitution to solve problems, not undermine it like these people do with their unrest fantasies. They seek to shatter our national contract to re-establish a fantasy. Fuck them.

My favorite Ry Cooder music was the soundtrack he did for the movie Johnny Handsome. Did a search for just the music, but there was none. Pick up the CD if it still exists. I have it on cassette tape. The music is fucking dynamite

One of the best concerts I ever went to was a performance by Flaco Jimenez at an small club in LA called the Music Machine, billed as Flaco and his Amigos.
It turned out to be a 3 1/2 hour jam session featuring Flaco, Ry Cooder, Peter Rowan and most of the members of Los Lobos....Dwight Yoakam even came out for a couple of numbers.
An amazing show that I'll never forget.

"Paradise and Lunch" was an all-time favourite in this house. Nice to see the Snakey One (James on drums) displaying the ambidexterity that comes with the search for newness after generations of keeping time.
A question, though: at what point does a mandolin-shaped stringed instrument become a 12 string guitar? Even I can count the pegs.
Also: in which decade was this recorded?
81 | texascarl Mon, Apr 13, 2009 7:57:58am |
Tasty! I think I wore our 2 vinyl 'Paradise and Lunch' albums and I'm on my second CD. Ry rules.
(Recorded in the 80's, and that's a 'mando-guitar' per youtube commentary. This is a cut from a documentary that was never released in the USA for some reason.)

Muchos gracias re: stringED instrument. These days I guess Ry's kid is playing drums for him but I've been a Keltner fan since Leon and the Mad Dogs Tour (before Jim Gordon killed his mom) up to and including Little Village.
I have P & L in my digital liberry for usage whenever needed. 'Tattler' serves to mellow any residual stress of dealing with the public.
Now, about Lowell G. and his talking slide... I actually heard All That You Dream on the last episode of the Sopranos.
