Deep in the heart of Texas
The Dems will wail along the trail
Deep in the heart of Texas

Yeah, but that was part of his charm. He reallly loves football.
Harry Caray used to do some double headerf games with the Whie Sox from left field. He would take his shirt off & sit in the sun drinking beer.
They even had a shower out there for him.
By the third inning of the second game, he would be really drunk.

Since it's a moving open thread, here goes:
During WW11 a soldier was sent to a remote outpost in Utah. He was being briefed by a sergeant. The sergeant asked if he had any questions. The soldier asked, "What do we do about women?"
The sergeant pointed out the window to a donkey grazing on a low hill. The soldier thought he'd have to be pretty desperate for that.
After two weeks he couldn't take it anymore. He went up the hill and started putting it to the donkey. After awhile he noticed a crowd had gathered. He asked. " What is it? Isn't this what t y'all do?"
The sergeant said, "No, we just ride it into town to the whore house".

re: #74 Mad Al-Jaffee
Maybe one of those old-fashioned modems where you had to connect part of the phone to two holes.
I think I still have one of those. Some store was selling them out of a trash barrel for $50, back around 1980.
I also have a 1200 baud modem and a VT-132, both of which the company I borrowed them from didn't want back.
But the real museum piece is a PDP-8e (No, that link isn't mine)

The community organizers expect Pres. Obama will address them, make an announcement or demand from the White House itself, that laws be changed.
The "Coalicion de Imigrantes de la Capital Nacional" is community organizing this. Pay not attention to the radical fringe groups!

I just sent the following letter to a friend:
On the way to the bank and the supermarket I was listening to Sean Hannity's radio program and he replayed a particularly vile on-air rant by Jennine Garafalo. The one where she calls the Tea Party people a bunch of racists.
I had read about that rant on the Newsbusters site and thought about writing about it but I ended up writing about other things today.
But when I listened to Hannity replaying Garafalo's rant the impression I got from the tone of her voice was that she saw all those who refuse to submit to The Zero as vermin fit for extermination. It was like listening to Goebbels or Hitler ranting about the Jews.

I don't mind moving, not any more. To me, it means: a bigger, better place, an excuse to shop, and excuse to drive a big-ass rental truck, an excuse to throw a party for my friends helping me move, an excuse to throw another party once I do move, an excuse for the cats to get up on the furniture they are not supposed to be on, and lots of boxes for them to play in, as well as an opportunity for them to pass out on my mink or my fox coats. Also, an excuse to decorate and make it all look awesome! I can't help it, I think I am a Nomad at heart.

Drinking Yerba Mate in the original gourd with the drinking straw (made of metal) is very bitter in taste. Yet it is a huge deliverer of caffeine. Keeps you very awake without the racing heart that one might experience with coffee.

I watched Mr. Beck a bit yesterday. I have to say, he gives me the willies.
You know when he started , right after 9/11, he was entertaining. My son saw one of his shows several years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. Said he was quite funny. He was especially entertaining during the Bush -Kerry campaign and the "Gloat Fest" the day after that election was hilarious. I really believe humor is a better weapon against the current regime than all the current ranting. Wish Glenn would go back to his roots.

I oppose amnesty, as should any sane person (I opposed it when Reagan signed it). I oppose guest workers, because that's a short road to second-class citizens. I favor a really comprehensive immigration reform.
But it's not a subject people are rational about, and when people are nuts, I hide.
I agree people are not rational about this; although I would have no deep opposition to a well-run "guest worker" program.

Take this advice with caution.
Drinking Yerba Mate in the original gourd with the drinking straw (made of metal) is very bitter in taste. Yet it is a huge deliverer of caffeine. Keeps you very awake without the racing heart that one might experience with coffee.

Liberal actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo, in all seriousness, said activists who attended tea parties are racists with dysfunctional brains in a recent prime-time television appearance.
"Let's be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It's not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea party was about. They don't know their history at all. It's about hating a black man in the White House," she said on MSNBC's "The Countdown" with Keith Olbermann Thursday evening. "This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. There is no way around that."

She's sooo impressed with her small limbic brain that she honestly believes all conservatives are a bunch of knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing morons.
She's a parody of herself.
She thinks she really scored big with that video clip of the speaker at one of the Tea Parties going off about big spending. What she doesn't realize is that most of that crowd was probably also not pleased with Bush's big spending, but didn't want to hear from someone who was obviously only there to bash the attendees, so they booed.

Never cared for Easy Mac. The Ramen, with that faux Asian flair, was a bit more palatable. Actually, after I found some small Asian markets (I was in Boston, it was easy), I just bought their instant noodles. Cheaper and tasted better.

This is a recording of Susan Boyle singing Cry Me A River back in 1999 on a CD that was made to sell for charity. Also this is the first time since I've been a lizard that I actually figured out how to add a video, or anything else for that matter, to a comment. I am very technically challenged. She hits this song out of the ballpark.

Be that as it may... Reine, would you give us a recap of the cookbook sales? Remember, Lizards - you may order your copy by clicking on renie's link and e-mailing her.
RECAP:
The "profit" per book sold is $5.
The "profit" for the artwork download is $4 per download, but no downloads have been sold.
In February, 81 cookbooks sold, revenue of $405. On 3/17 that was placed into the project paypal account; I left $5 in the account, and sent $200 to LGF and $200 to Soldier's Angels, identified as a donation from LGF readers from the cookbook sale. This information is at the blog.
In March - 17 more books sold, revenue of $85. I am awaiting the e-mail telling me this has been placed into the project paypal account, which will result in $90 being in that account because the account has $5 left in it from February. The $90 will be split $45 to LGF, and $45 to Soldier's Angels. I will post at the blog when that happens (should be today or tomorrow). These will be identified as donations from "LGF readers".
In April, thus far - 5 more copies of the book have sold, revenue of $25 which won't be posted to the project paypal account until May (with, I hope, additional funds from any additional copies that sell during April).

Even taken a domestic flight from Aeroparque (the smaller Bogotá airport)? It's funny/scary... to get to your get, you have to go through a metal detector, but your hand luggage just gets passed through to you. So, you can have a loaded Uzi in your carryon bag, but not slung on your shoulder, I guess.

I once lived for a week on plain old rice. Rice w/ketchup = Spanish rice; Rice w/soy sauce = Oriental rice; Buttered Rice; the possibilties are limited only by the contents of your nearly empty fridge and spice rack.

re: #326 Nevergiveup
I heard about it, but wondered why it was was a story:
"Julie Bataille from the university's press office e-mailed me that the White House had asked that all university signage and symbols behind the stage in Gaston Hall be covered.
The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they've done for other policy speeches," she wrote. "Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn't high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context."
While the "IHS" directly behind where Obama spoke was covered over, CNSNews.com said the monogram was still visible in 26 other places in the hall during his speech. Those areas just weren't as prominent.
