Moving sucks indeed. For NJ political bigwig Joe Coniglio, his next move is going to be someplace where the taxpayer will be picking up the tab.

He's going to be going to prison after being found guilty on multiple charges of fraud and corruption. Hey, it's NJ, and it's what NJ politicos do.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, he's a Democrat.

12 chicagodudewhotrades  Fri, Apr 17, 2009 12:48:22pm

Cryogenic Suspension Chambers? Did Charles buy them from Ted Williams?

13 StillAMarine  Fri, Apr 17, 2009 12:48:25pm

My profound sympathies, Charles. Moving should be considered self inflicted torture.
I wonder what the moonbats would say to forcing imprisoned terrorists to periodically move from cell to cell.
TORTURE!

I've been waiting for an open thread. A little late but in honor of the Texas sovereignty bill:

Deep in the heart of Texas

The budget fight is big and bright
Deep in the heart of Texas
The Gov’ner says the debts too high
Deep in the heart of Texas
The sovereign rule is no one’s fool
Deep in the heart of Texas
The Feds are now to limit pow’r
Deep in the heart of Texas

The Dems will wail along the trail
Deep in the heart of Texas
The Texans must take stimulus
Deep in the heart of Texas
The cowboys cry, "In a pigs eye”

Charles, my sympathy on moving.

I doubt I have anywhere near the gear you do to tote (just kids, no Overlord Tools, cryo chambers, or security monitoring and surveillance/dissident suppresion systems), and I have vowed to never move again with more than a suitcase and an overnight bag.

Charles,

I really resent your constant harping on the fact that moving stinks. I have moved before, and I always joke that bad people are not sent to hell. They are forced to pack their things and move there.

The reason I resent your constant harping on the stinkiness of moving is that I will be moving from New York to Florida in July, and I look forward to similar stinking in my life in the not-too-distant future. Your remarks are very discouraging.

Yes, absolutely. When he promotes (and writes the foreword for!) a book by John Bircher Cleon Skousen as one of the greatest books ever written, he's on exactly the same plane of nuttiness as Jeanene Garofalo.

Yes. The Martyr cookies don't age well ... they actually kind of blow up into a stinky cloud, then drift away, like Saruman.

I think there is a huge difference with demonizing and entire group of people and someone engaged in conspiracies. At least Beck has made attempts to debunk himself when he is wrong...FEMA camps for example.

Yeah, but that was part of his charm. He reallly loves football.
Harry Caray used to do some double headerf games with the Whie Sox from left field. He would take his shirt off & sit in the sun drinking beer.
They even had a shower out there for him.
By the third inning of the second game, he would be really drunk.
He was prone to say anything.

Since it's a moving open thread, here goes:
During WW11 a soldier was sent to a remote outpost in Utah. He was being briefed by a sergeant. The sergeant asked if he had any questions. The soldier asked, "What do we do about women?"
The sergeant pointed out the window to a donkey grazing on a low hill. The soldier thought he'd have to be pretty desperate for that.
After two weeks he couldn't take it anymore. He went up the hill and started putting it to the donkey. After awhile he noticed a crowd had gathered. He asked. " What is it? Isn't this what t y'all do?"
The sergeant said, "No, we just ride it into town to the whore house".

Maybe one of those old-fashioned modems where you had to connect part of the phone to two holes.

I think I still have one of those. Some store was selling them out of a trash barrel for $50, back around 1980.
I also have a 1200 baud modem and a VT-132, both of which the company I borrowed them from didn't want back.
But the real museum piece is a PDP-8e (No, that link isn't mine)

Massive Immigration Tea Parties expected on May 1

DC Spanish language publication El Pregonero on p.10 announces huge rallies to protest US immigration law and demand Pres. Obama radically change our laws.

The community organizers expect Pres. Obama will address them, make an announcement or demand from the White House itself, that laws be changed.

The "Coalicion de Imigrantes de la Capital Nacional" is community organizing this. Pay not attention to the radical fringe groups!

I just sent the following letter to a friend:

On the way to the bank and the supermarket I was listening to Sean Hannity's radio program and he replayed a particularly vile on-air rant by Jennine Garafalo. The one where she calls the Tea Party people a bunch of racists.

I had read about that rant on the Newsbusters site and thought about writing about it but I ended up writing about other things today.

But when I listened to Hannity replaying Garafalo's rant the impression I got from the tone of her voice was that she saw all those who refuse to submit to The Zero as vermin fit for extermination. It was like listening to Goebbels or Hitler ranting about the Jews.

There's a lounge here in DC called Maté... the owner (who is... Argentinian, I think) felt compelled to stick the superfluous accent in there, so that people wouldn't think it was "Mate", some sort of swingers' club!

I liked moving when I was in the navy. Me single, pickup. Friends married need help. I get beer, pickup gets a full tank of gas!

I don't mind moving, not any more. To me, it means: a bigger, better place, an excuse to shop, and excuse to drive a big-ass rental truck, an excuse to throw a party for my friends helping me move, an excuse to throw another party once I do move, an excuse for the cats to get up on the furniture they are not supposed to be on, and lots of boxes for them to play in, as well as an opportunity for them to pass out on my mink or my fox coats. Also, an excuse to decorate and make it all look awesome! I can't help it, I think I am a Nomad at heart.

You know when he started , right after 9/11, he was entertaining. My son saw one of his shows several years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. Said he was quite funny. He was especially entertaining during the Bush -Kerry campaign and the "Gloat Fest" the day after that election was hilarious. Liberal actress says tea parties were racist

Liberal actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo, in all seriousness, said activists who attended tea parties are racists with dysfunctional brains in a recent prime-time television appearance.

"Let's be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It's not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea party was about. They don't know their history at all. It's about hating a black man in the White House," she said on MSNBC's "The Countdown" with Keith Olbermann Thursday evening. "This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. There is no way around that."

I actually find her funny.

She's sooo impressed with her small limbic brain that she honestly believes all conservatives are a bunch of knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing morons.

She's a parody of herself.

She thinks she really scored big with that video clip of the speaker at one of the Tea Parties going off about big spending. What she doesn't realize is that most of that crowd was probably also not pleased with Bush's big spending, but didn't want to hear from someone who was obviously only there to bash the attendees, so they booed.

No, because then they will be 'subsidized' since the 'right' to air conditioning ( or heating) is unalienable and the gubmint is the font of all rights.

And the subsidy will come from the eeevil rich anyway, so no worries.

I guess they didn't read the customs forms, eh? The bit about food?

Even more fun are the rich hippie tourists who cheerfully try to bring back bags of coca leaves from Peru, to make coca tea. US Customs tends to, ah, frown on that.

They got to keep the stuff, but each bag was pierced, and by some accounts, sniffed, by a highly trained inspector, presumably.

re: #226 Conservative in Liberal Hands

Be that as it may... Reine, would you give us a recap of the cookbook sales? Remember, Lizards - you may order your copy by clicking on renie's link and e-mailing her.

RECAP:
The "profit" per book sold is $5.
The "profit" for the artwork download is $4 per download, but no downloads have been sold.

In February, 81 cookbooks sold, revenue of $405. On 3/17 that was placed into the project paypal account; I left $5 in the account, and sent $200 to LGF and $200 to Soldier's Angels, identified as a donation from LGF readers from the cookbook sale. This information is at the blog.

In March - 17 more books sold, revenue of $85. I am awaiting the e-mail telling me this has been placed into the project paypal account, which will result in $90 being in that account because the account has $5 left in it from February. The $90 will be split $45 to LGF, and $45 to Soldier's Angels. I will post at the blog when that happens (should be today or tomorrow). These will be identified as donations from "LGF readers".

In April, thus far - 5 more copies of the book have sold, revenue of $25 which won't be posted to the project paypal account until May (with, I hope, additional funds from any additional copies that sell during April).

I heard about it, but wondered why it was was a story:

"Julie Bataille from the university's press office e-mailed me that the White House had asked that all university signage and symbols behind the stage in Gaston Hall be covered.

The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they've done for other policy speeches," she wrote. "Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn't high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross above the GU seal and it seemed most respectful to have them covered so as not to be seen out of context."

While the "IHS" directly behind where Obama spoke was covered over, CNSNews.com said the monogram was still visible in 26 other places in the hall during his speech. Those areas just weren't as prominent.
