Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's demand that the Palestinians recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people as a condition for renewing peace talks is unacceptable to the United States, the State Department said during special envoy George Mitchell's visits over the weekend to Ramallah and Cairo.
The State Department released statements saying that the United States would continue to promote a two-state solution. In Ramallah, Mitchell met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Mitchell's talks also seem to indicate that the United States does not accept Netanyahu's position that the renewal of negotiations should be postponed until the Iranian nuclear threat is removed.

Florida had a big champaign to exploit the sugar industry. They ran a referendum to increase taxes and had the catchy slogan; "Big Sugar Is Ripping Us Off!"
Big Sugar got extra taxes and promptly negotiated to return 186,000 arable acres of farmland to swamp in the name of ecological friendliness.
Pretty soon these chickens are going to come home to roost.
Cuba and us could get real chummy.
Russia has a taste for Cuban sugar also. You can expect them to try to screw up any kind of relationship between us and our former adversaries.

He made a point that Venezuela is no military match for us and although they are a nuisance they don't really pose a threat. I found the fact that he would sit and listen for almost an hour to that little rat-dictator Daniel Ortega, lecture us about all of the evils of the US and he would not just get up and leave makes me sick.
