New Zealand Boycotts Durban II

World • Views: 3,331

This one’s a bit of a surprise, because New Zealand is moonbat central: NZ won’t attend racism conference.

Labour and the Greens are at odds with the Government over its decision to boycott this week’s United Nations conference on racism.

Foreign Minister Murray McCully confirmed today New Zealand would not take part, joining other countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, Italy, Israel and Germany.

The Geneva conference is in trouble because of intense sensitivity around Israel and Arab states – the last UN meeting called to condemn racism ended in chaos when Muslim delegates tried to insert language into a declaration defining Zionism as racist.

The US walked out of that conference in 2001 and won’t attend this one despite a draft declaration which doesn’t mention Israel, the Middle East or any other divisive issues.

Mr McCully said New Zealand would not attend because he was not satisfied the wording of the draft declaration would prevent the conference from “descending into the same kind of rancorous and unproductive debate that took place in 2001”.

“I was determined that New Zealand’s participation in the review conference would be on the basis of a draft outcome document that did not endorse the 2001 declaration, and which responsibly and productively addressed racism.”

Unsurprisingly, these are the two European countries which rank highest in the number of annual antisemitic incidents along with Norway which is also going.

I once saw some marijuana growing out of shoeboxes in the back of a defunct station wagon in 1981 parked next to a (then novel) self-serve Shell station with the little kiosk for the employee. Right there in broad daylight. I guess that station wagon acted like a sort of greenhouse or something. It was right on a main street with plenty of traffic and customers. Brazen!

Incredible that the conference on racism is now comprised of mostly racists.

To slightly modify Winston Churchill: "Let them roar, let them rage. We will come through."

53 MJ  Sun, Apr 19, 2009 7:58:48pm

Melanie Phillips is appalled that the UK is attending Durban II:

"...But the British government apparently has no such concerns. Despite having originally set out similar ‘red lines’, it has unceremoniously junked them. We must therefore assume that either it doesn’t care that the declaration singles out Israel alone for defamation and falsehoods -- along with threatening free speech -- or it actively supports such sentiments. We can also see that it has no problem with attending a ’human rights’ meeting which is to be addressed by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the butcher of Iranian human rights and promoter of genocide against the Jews.

What does that tell us about Britain’s concern for human rights and the defeat of Jew-hatred? Australia, Germany and the Netherlands have now joined the US, Canada, Italy and Israel in the boycott -- but Britain is still in there. What a statement about the post-Blair UK government’s changed attitude to Israel – or to be more precise, reversion to historic Arabist type. In Londonistan, there is to be short shrift indeed for Israel...."

I skip a few days for heavy workload, come back, and everyone is agreeing with Avanti! Did Hades freeze over, or what? (Actually I'm neither surprised or sorry- he is always so cordial that it's a pleasure even to disagree with him!)

He's either schizophrenic, or his dad sneaks in and uses his account.

......Or he is decidedly pro American, but only when it comes to Obama's America.

re: #66 avanti

I don't think many will agree, but having a popular POTUS on the world stage may have helped the other countries jump ship. Not addressing the fairness issue, but BHO is more popular the Bush was. There is no question that some counties just loved watching Bush twist in the wind and now are acting more like groupies to BHO.

You have a point. The fact that Obama is more popular makes other countries less willing to do things to spite us. His one-world rhetoric also offers other leaders some cover, as they can say "If Obama is sitting this one out, you know this event has problems".

I generally agree except for the fact that the popularity is a largely manufactured one. if the media hates you, you're fucked no matter what you do. If the media likes you, you're golden, no matter what you do......

Britain isolated amid UN racism summit boycott

The US, Israel, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, and Holland are boycotting the UN anti-racism event, which will be opened on Monday with a speech by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's President.

The address by Ahmadinejad, who has previously described the Holocaust as a myth and called for Israel to be "wiped off the map", will coincide with the 120th anniversary of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler's birth.

Ahmadinejad's goal is to create the Holocaust that he said was a myth.

Not everyone in New Zealand is a moonbat.

One of my oldest and dearest friends is a Kiwi from Wellington, and old punk from way back who is now one of the few sensible people I know - an anti-idiotarian if there ever was one. He is a well read history buff who could easily be mistaken for Lemmy from Motorhead, yet is a big fan of Theodore Dalrymple and Robert Conquest.

Great guy....a classical liberal in the most positive sense of the word.

You don't learn much in an echo chamber- if everyone here always agreed the discussions would be dull and pointless. One thing I never do is condemn someone on the other side who takes a position I support. Think Bush 41 and his tax hike. He agreed to compromise with the Democrats and then they used that to defeat him in 1992. But yes, without condemning Obama's decision, I have to agree with you. Compare with Cuba. EU split on boycott of UN racism conference

Ahmadinejad, who has called for Israel to be "wiped off the map" and questioned the Holocaust as a "myth", is to address the gathering at around 3:00 pm (1300 GMT) Monday.

Earlier Sunday Ahmadinejad -- who is seeking re-election in June -- was quoted by Iran's state broadcaster as saying "the Zionist ideology and regime are the flag bearers of racism".

Good for them. I wasn't aware that NZ was moonbat central. I knew they had some kooks and crazies but I had no idea they were dominant in the national politic. I learn something new every day!

John Phillip Key is now Prime Minister of New Zealand. He is a member of the Center-Right National Party. "Dear Leader" Helen Clark, the leftist moonbat from Labor who was PM during most of the Bush years, is out.

There are some very staunch conservatives in NZ. I like Trevor Loudon's blog, New Zeal. Trevor was instrumental in exposing the KGB ties to a lot of the Labor leaders who promoted the "anti-nuclear" policies in NZ during the Reagan years, and he's done a lot of detailed digging into Obama's connection to Frank Davis.

Here is a very interesting article from him regarding another Obama appointee with Marxist roots.

New Zealand was moonbat central but they recently elected a sensible conservative government - hence the sensible decision to give this gathering of racist nutters a big miss.

The Australian government also pulled out but our PM only made the decision after checking in with BO.

Our PM is so far up Barry's ass it's embarrassing.

Until that election result, new Zealand was known as Cuba with rugby as the socialist hag running the joint was slightly to the left of Mao.

Sorry my wonderful US friends, as of November 2008 you are now moonbat central!

Georgia religious demographics: Orthodox Christian 83.9%, Muslim 9.9%, Armenian-Gregorian 3.9%, Roman Catholics 0.8%, Jews 0.1%, other 1.4%

The nation of Georgia is not a Muslim country; and as an ex Soviet republic they have an especial animosity to the sort of communist agitprop that this conference represents.

We here in NZ used to be moonbat central but we gave the pinkos the push in November and things are improving.

Unfortunately for you guys head moonbat Helen Clark is heading your way to head up the profoundly corrupt UNDP.

Our government now has no moonbats near anything important....except the Environment Minister and he just sits in teh corner jibbering away, no-one takes any notice of him.

Nine years of moonbat-ism though brought us attempted bans on junk food, light bulbs, attempted regulations to control the water pressure of showers, a Police minister who thought a crime wave was because of hot summers and a full moon, one ex-minister up on corruption charges, the Green party which lists over 90 things they want to ban on their website (the list grows daily).

New Zealanders resoundingly sent them packing and the ruling party now enjoys 60% approval ratings while the moonbats hover at about 5%

So all those Countries are so tremendously upset and surprised at the remarks of the leader of Iran. My...my...my. Can you believe what that man just said..OH...hes been saying this for YEARS. Wonder why none of them noticed or they noticed and just didn't give a damn. Never did give a damn. (Looks like a replay of the run up to WW11 to me--no one payed much attention there either--what a surprise what DID happen, happened)

Whats really going on here with this Pseudo Walkout? Whats going on is the West including the US is about to comedown hard on Israel and Jews that support Israel. So therefore these Countries have to insulate themselves against being called Anti Semitic (which many are, which most are) by pretending to not cooperate with this Meeting and use of the "old" charge. There will be some NEW charges against Israel and Jewry, just not the too too too sensitive "Israel and Zionism are the same" charge.

Think ahead. If the Tea Party people are troublesome (to say the very least), make that "dangerous racist traitors" then US Jews who don't think it is OK for the Muslim world to get ready to "finish" the Holocaust job, will be classified the same. My G-d if we don't agree with Obama, then..OHHHHHH those Jews aren't good Americans and those Jews will get us all in trouble with most of the rest of the world.

If this (paring down of Israel little by litte) is going to happen soon, then those "walkout Countries" cant give Jews any ammunition to call them Antisimitic..so JUST till all those Countries start and get going of the job of establishing and Funding a bigger, more dangerous and more "alpha" Hamas State in part of Israel, those same Countries need to keep it "cool" for a while. This mass walkout is part of that Tactic. Its just a Tactic.
