re: #19 mikeymom

Your dream means that you feel frustrated in your attempts to control and influence the world you find about you. It is, most likely, not about your kids or your husband; they are merely that aspect of the world that is most dear to you. You see important stuff going wrong in the world and you know you could do a better job of fixing it, but you are not in charge and feel that if you did take a stand no one would listen and value your opinion.

You have two options:
1. Run for office
2. Be ready for this dream. When it happens say to your husband, or kids "I can't even hit you, but see how far I can kick this cat!" Lo and behold a cat will appear at your feet and you will be able to boot it over the next door neighbour's roof. Of course, with this option, you'll then have to deal with the guilt of this, but you won't feel frustrated, at any rate.

I hope this helps.

Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen and Neil Young can all sing. I will grant you that in each case, there are moods where I can't stand to listen.

They say there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord,
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth,
The minor fall and the major lift,
The baffled king composing Hallelujah.

The legend... I haven't bothered with the comics or the movie. And "A Different Story" was an '80s song that I got to watch a LOT when I was a kid. (In the late 1980s, Houston had an MTV-like public access channel which did music videos. Most of them sucked. But they did introduce me to Schilling and a-Ha, which for whatever reason didn't get radio play then.)

"Are Republicans turning into libertarians?"

Maybe you see a pattern there and maybe you don't. But of the roughly four different pathways the Republicans could take in the post-Obama universe -- toward Ron Paulesque libertarianism, toward Sarah Palinesque cultural populism, toward Mike Huckabeesque big-government conservatism, or toward Olympia Snowesque moderation/ good-governmentism -- the libertarian side would seem to have had the best go of things in the First 100 Days.

I have nothing against libertarianism as a philosophy but everybody's adopting the crazy elements of libertarianism and leaving the good stuff behind. It's a bummer but it looks like where things are headed.

You're assuming Pakistan is some monolithic entity. Even if the current government frayed, the immediate solution will be the assent of the non-Taliban military into control of whatever part of the country they could take, including the nukes (which you've probably over estimated by count.)

Evening Lizards. Sorry to go OT but I need the opinions of the community on this Pakistan problem. Does anyone else see this imminent collapse of their government and the take over by the Taliban as something that is soon in the future? And if so, don't you think that Al Qaeda will aim some of those 100 Nukes at us? And does anyone here trust the Administration to hit em first or are we in for some serious shit. My kids and grandbabies are in New York and Phoenix. I have been reluctant to sound any preparation for the worst alarms but I am beginning to worry alittle bit.

What in the world?!

You're concerned about the launch of 100 nuclear weapons from Al-Q?

Oh, and just because:

A damsel with a dulcimer
in a vision once I saw.
It was an Abyssinian maid,
and on her dulcimer she played,
singing of mount Abora.

Could I revive within me
her symphony and song.
To such a deep delight 'twould win me,
that with music loud and long,
I would build that dome in air!
That sunny dome! Those caves of ice!
and all who heard should see them there!
and all should cry, Beware! Beware!
his flashing eyes! his floating hair!

Weave a circle round him thrice,
and close your eyes with holy dread;
for he on honey-dew hath fed,
and drunk the milk of Paradise.

Thanks. Bookmarked and I'll read it later. Looks like they referenced some of the sites I looked at. It's a makeover all right. Part of it includes him now supporting the "Dream Act" if I am not mistaken. However his record stands and frankly he's doomed if he beats McCain. They'll slaughter him and that district will go blue.

I wish I had something optimistic to say.

Uh... Al-Q will probably not be able to keep those bombs in good condition long enough for an actual fission reaction to go off. So they'll most likely just lightly irradiate the ports in New York and LA.

Hezballah seem to be a more disciplined bunch and I should worry more about Iran... not that Obama's CIA is going to be much good there either.

Have you checked out all the other videos, where she tapes herself sitting around her New York apartment, ranting? She seems oddly familiar. I feel like I may have had an awful blind date with her once in the late 90's.

Yeah, has been for a while it seems. A lot of one issue voters and the last round it seemed like just anti-war people and pot smokers. Nothing of my concern.

Frankly I know the GOP has its current crop of problems but I saw Romney this morning over at Hot Air and I like him more and more each day. Not saying he's perfect but there's something about him: his speaking style, what he says of course, etc.

Besides, if you watch the movies, you know:

1) The good guys survive, even if they are sitting on the bloomin' thing when it goes off.

2) If you're on the phone, the person on the other end will hear a high pitched whine.

3) They'll still be able to get you on your cell phone, though.

4) If you see butterflies, you won't be irradiated.

5) When James Bond defuses it, the clock will stop on 0:07.

No, just one would do it I suppose. I am not going off the deep end, Mandy. Just trying to wade through some of the reports coming out on the advancement of A-Q on Islamabad. Thanks for that. I've been following as much as possible and realize that our gov, under Bush, was helping the Paki gov to make the nukes as secure and unattainable as possible to the terrorists.
