Oklahoma Man Arrested for ‘Tea Party’ Twitter Threats

US News • Views: 5,865

The FBI has arrested an Oklahoma City man who used Twitter to post threats that he would turn the April 15th “tea party” into a “blood bath.”

An Oklahoma City man who announced on Twitter that he would turn an April 15 tax protest into a bloodbath was hit with a federal charge of making interstate threats last week, in what appears to be first criminal prosecution to stem from posts on the microblogging site.

Daniel Knight Hayden, 52, was arrested by FBI agents who identified him as the Twitter user CitizenQuasar. In a series of tweets beginning April 11, CitizenQuasar vowed to start a “war” against the government on the steps of the Oklahoma City Capitol building, the site of that city’s version of the national “Tea Party” protests promoted by the conservative-leaning Fox News.

“START THE KILLING NOW! I am willing to be the FIRST DEATH!,” read a tweet at 8:01 PM that day. “After I am killed on the Capitol Steps, like a REAL man, the rest of you will REMEMBER ME!!!,” he added five minutes later. Then: “Send the cops around. I will cut their heads off the heads and throw the[m] on the State Capitol steps.”

Hayden’s MySpace page is a breathtaking gallery of right wing memes about the “New World Order,” gun control as Nazi fascism, and Barack Obama’s covert use of television hypnosis, among many others.

23 quickjustice  Fri, Apr 24, 2009 2:31:19pm

I mentioned on an earlier thread that at the NYC Tea Party in City Hall Park on April 15, a black man with long hair dropped a package in the middle of the crowd, and then ran away. The cops were summoned, and the package turned out to be harmless, but it clearly was an attempt at intimidation. And yes, the Ron Paul crazies also were out, but were totally outnumbered.

24 solomonpanting  Fri, Apr 24, 2009 2:31:31pm
Hayden was arraigned on the 16th, and ordered released to a halfway house pending trial -- a move that suggests the magistrate judge does not consider him a genuine threat.

I hope the judge is a good judge of character.

Recession fuels worries of U.S. workplace violence

* Fears of workplace violence growing

* Workers prone to violence tend to reveal intentions

* Fueling fear is perpetrators who seemed normal

A worker recently laid off by a U.S. financial services company grew so upset that the firm had him followed to be sure he didn't strike out violently at his former co-workers or bosses.

"Tough times will cause people to do crazy things," said Kenneth Springer, whose company Corporate Resolutions Inc. did the surveillance. "People are taking more precautions."

Job losses, job uncertainty and slashed budgets are all pressures that could push someone over the edge.

When one company I worked with had big layoffs in 2002, they had an outplacement company interview us. To me, it was obvious that they were looking for signs of anger and violence. Since my boss had loaned everyone "Someone Moved My Cheese", I mentioned that; the interviewer loved the book, so I was free. But then, I wasn't going to be violent over that, either.

Yeah and even though he didn't pay an income tax, he was still going to get a tax break. Some guys are just ingrates. I mean paid volunteerism will be up, leading to a drop in the unemployment rate, or "unpaid me time" as it will soon be called. And Obama was just in a meeting about how to make college more affordable so we can churn out a higher percentage of morally warped no-nothings per capita, because we all know a higher percentage of college students does not mean a higher percentage of hard science and math majors. It means higher percentage of Neo-classical African poetry majors, with minors in Community organizing. Many will go on to semi-professional agitation, because even the amateur circuit for agitation is getting so commercialized.

Ah yes, Super Chicken.

State Department hypocrisy 101:

From today's briefing:

QUESTION: And Israeli foreign minister actually again said that there’s no way to resolve the situation – sorry, crisis in the Middle East, but first resolve this Iranian problem. So since it’s – there’s a disagreement between Washington and Tel Aviv in this regard, has Secretary Clinton talked to her Israeli counterpart or addressed this disagreement?

MR. WOOD: Look, we’ve been very clear about this. What we need to – these are two separate issues, and we believe they can be dealt with simultaneously. You know, bringing about a peace in the Middle East, a two-state solution, is paramount for us. It’s in our national security interest. So is dealing with Iran’s nuclear program. And we can and must deal with these issues, these separate issues, very seriously.

And I don’t have anything more to offer to you other than our commitment, which we have reiterated to, you know, Israel and to others, is to this two-state solution. And we’re going to continue to work on this. The Secretary and Senator Mitchell are spending a lot of effort, trying to see what we can do to get this process going. And we’re also working with our Arab partners to try to reach this goal that we all have. But they’re two separate issues as far as we’re concerned.

Hillary Clinton yesterday:

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Hillary Clinton said Israel could lose Arab support for countering the Iranian threat if Israel does not pursue peace negotiations with the Palestinians.

"For Israel to get the kind of strong support it is looking for vis-a-vis Iran, it can't stay on the sidelines with respect to the Palestinians and the peace efforts," the U.S. Secretary of State said Thursday at a House Appropriations Committee hearing. "They go hand in hand."

But don't expect any State Department reporter to ask about this...they're too busy bashing Israel.

Of course they're two separate issues. Who is this Mr. Wood, and why is such a person of apparently normal human intelligence being allowed to keep working at the State Department?

"For Israel to get the kind of strong support it is looking for vis-a-vis Iran, it can't stay on the sidelines with respect to the Palestinians and the peace efforts," the U.S. Secretary of State said Thursday at a House Appropriations Committee hearing. "They go hand in hand."

What an utter and complete load of crap. Hillary Clinton is now just rehashing the standard Arab position that "all problems in the Middle East are caused by Israel." Iran and its Hizbollah proxies have stated unequivocally that they seek to destroy Israel, regardless of the existence of any new Arab Palestinian state. She's just pressing Israel to make some sort of concession, in order to please her Saudi employers, who pay her a lot more money than her State Department salary.

This one is interesting:

During this news report, Harrit, who is one of the nine scientists primarily responsible for the pivotal paper entitled: ‘Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe’, talks about how their research, which was conducted over 18 months, led to the conclusion that planes did not cause the collapse of the three buildings at the WTC on 9/11.

He says that they found such large quantities of nano-thermite in the dust from the WTC, that he believes that this compound, which has the ability to melt metal, must have been brought into the WTC site in tonnes, on pallets. Consequently, he suggests that we need to address this matter with those who were in charge of the security at the World Trade Centre on 9/11.

Harrit, like Dr Steven Jones who also played a major role in this ground-breaking research, refers to their findings as “the loaded gun” and suggests that military personnel might be able to enlighten us more on the little-known topic of nano-thermite, which differs from regular thermite in a number of significant ways, including that its ignition temperature is far lower than that of the conventional kind, [1].

I love how the troofers come up with these "controlled demolition" theories without ever being able to explain why none of the thousands of workers in the buildings noticed all the explosives and stuff...

Federal Family Education Loan program that costs taxpayers $15 million a day.

Incredible. You know, in Texas, all the Pell grant money doesn't even get used. That's right, there is MORE money for college education available then what people are using/requesting/needing.

I can guarantee you can get a pell grant even if you don't need/qualify for one. They are trying to give out the money so they can keep it coming in. It's really quite stupid and completely wasteful.

People will think I’m NUTS but, here goes:

Saddam Hussein was a CIA asset since about 1954. One reason that Iraq was invaded was because he was selling oil to pay off his loans from the international banksters. Now, NO oil is flowing. The war is going in perfect accordance with the plans of the New World Order. The plan is to throw the region into perpetual turmoil.

Saddam’s execution was NOT public. We are to take the word of only 20 witnesses. Videos are easy to fake. Yet we do not even have the benefit of a video of his execution.

My family was always pretty blasé about nudity, and it's never ever been an issue with me. I guess I need to spell it out. There were a bunch of threads several days ago in which Charles was defending the DHS memo raising alarms about "right wing terrorism." Part of the defense was that the threat was genuine (never mind the issue of why so-called right wing terrorism was singled out). So here comes some lunatic talking about cutting cops heads off, and he's labeled "right wing." He's no more right wing than Charles Manson. He's just a nut case. I don't see the point of labeling him right or left. As a lot of other posters above have said as well.

re: #241 jimmyk

I guess I need to spell it out. There were a bunch of threads several days ago in which Charles was defending the DHS memo raising alarms about "right wing terrorism." Part of the defense was that the threat was genuine (never mind the issue of why so-called right wing terrorism was singled out). So here comes some lunatic talking about cutting cops heads off, and he's labeled "right wing." He's no more right wing than Charles Manson. He's just a nut case. I don't see the point of labeling him right or left. As a lot of other posters above have said as well.

I'll repeat:
Are you insane?

Hayden’s MySpace page is a breathtaking gallery of right wing memes about the “New World Order,” gun control as Nazi fascism, and Barack Obama’s covert use of television hypnosis, among many others

Likewise about the spelling out: Charles did not 'defend' the DHS memos so much as go against the hyperbolic and unnecessary reaction to it. While most didn't find the DHS memo 100% benign, it did not warrant the craziness that ensued.

Would you call that a defense of the DHS memo?

Bullcrap, in short, a material that does not exist and even if it existed it wouldn't have the claimed properties. For example, molar heat of reaction is nearly indipendent of particle size.

I recall reading a long while ago of some research groups trying to produce explosives based on nanosized aluminium, for which detonation velocity can be tuned varying particle size. This may be the origin of the myth.

My first job was in college - artist's model. Very VERY well paid, as most people feel funny in the nude, holding really still while people stare at them and draw them (I was an art major at the time).

Nudity is a funny thing, and depends a lot on the situation. Years ago I posted a picture of a female friend on AOL in shorts and a sports bra and she started getting offers for free outfits to post in. A few months later I had a PG rated, Playboy sort of amateur site up for her and she starting adding friends to the site. This was 10 years ago, when people would pay $10/month to see the girl next door types get naked.
In the beginning the girls would pose, then throw on a robe, but after a few sessions, they'd stay nude for a lunch break. Once I'd been doing it for a year or two, it was just a job, not a bad job, but a job. I finally had one of the girls do the shoots and just ran the web page.
The funny thing was, the girls made more money with a tease site that the a lot of the nasty porno sites, but that was before all the free amateur sites gave away all the free nudes e-mailed in.

"The images will show mistreatment at locations beyond the infamous U.S.-run Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, where pictures emerged in 2004 of grinning U.S. soldiers posing with detainees, some naked, being held on leashes or in painful positions.
The Pentagon plans to release the latest photos by May 28 in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union. The move comes after the Justice Department lost its latest round in federal court and concluded that any further appeal would probably be fruitless. "

Add to that, that steel's strength is reduced by more than 50% when heated to the temperature of burning jet fuel. Therefore, steel does not need to melt to weaken and fail.

The Pentagon plans to release the latest photos by May 28 in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union. You're right, he only quoted an article labeling the guy as right wing. But there were other articles last week along the same lines of "See, here's another right wing potential terrorist."

The Wired article does not identify him as "right-wing." It merely states:

Hayden's MySpace page is a breathtaking gallery of right wing memes about the "New World Order," gun control as Nazi fascism, and Barack Obama's covert use of television hypnosis, among many others.

It does identify him as a "Teabagger."

No no no. Objectionable speech is only permitted as long as it doesn't threaten anyone else. He's threatening to kill cops and turn the Tea Party into a blood bath. Add to that, that steel's strength is reduced by more than 50% when heated to the temperature of burning jet fuel. Therefore, steel does not need to melt to weaken and fail.

I'm shocked that the buildings held on for as long as they did.

I thought at the time that it was a tribute to I.M. Pei, the architect, and the team under him who designed and built them. According to a book I have on the WTC (one I've had for years before 9/11/2001), the towers were designed to survive the impact of the largest airliner around when they were put up- the Boeing 707, which was a lot smaller and less massive than the ones that hit them. Pei was worried about a repeat of the July 28, 1945 crash of a USAAF B-25 Mitchell medium bomber into the Empire State Building, and he knew that a steel-skeleton, glass-box high rise just can't be built as strongly as one whose steel skeleton is covered mostly by granite, like the ESB. He built the Twin Towers strong enough so that if a four-engine jetliner (about half the size of a 757) hit one, it would stand up long enough to be evacuated.

It's a measure of his true genius as an architect and engineer that it worked better than it had any right to, considering what actually happened.

Whether the photos in question show CIA employees or not is irrelevant to his point, which was absolutely correct.

As soon as the NY Times, Newsweek, or whatever other left-wing news outlet gets ahold of them first publishes pictures allegedly showing detainees being "abused," the shit will hit the fan once again in the Islamic world.

If we're lucky, the violence will be limited to rioters killing each other in Pakistan or someplace, but people will definitely die as a result. It's absolutely predictable.

re: #263 Dianna

Would someone please tell me what nano-thermite is supposed to be?

To begin with, thermite is a mixture of powdered aluminum and iron oxide that burns at an extremely high temperature. A high enough temperature to melt steel. Mixing the aluminum powder and iron oxide is not dangerous as it is quite stable and requires a lot of energy to initiate the thermite reaction.

Now "nano" is a prefix that is used to mean very small, it is derived from the metric scale in which nano denotes something that is a billionth (10^-9) of something in scale. For perspective a millimeter is 1000th (10^-3) of a meter. A micrometer is a millionth (10^-6) of a meter. A nanometer is a billionth (10^-9) of a meter.

Now "nano-thermite" would be thermite in which the grain size of the aluminum powder and iron oxide powder are extremely small. Much, much smaller than the grain size of ordinary thermite mixture. Supposedly the extremely small grain size lowers the level of energy required to initiate the reaction and may also allow the reaction to proceed more quickly than in ordinary thermite.

9/11 troofers appear to have sized upon nano-thermite with a vengeance. In the first 4 pages of Google results there are like 2 results that are not troofer nonsense.

Back to the topic at hand... see how sematics works?

The wired story doesn't even bother to use qualifiers, but says "right wing memes" straight. Not extremist or far-right, just right.

The narrative is, all right-wingers are at least kooks, so can you imagine what the right-wing extremists can do? Luckily the DHS is watching them!

The problem for conservatives and the GOP is that their reaction makes them look like apologists for this behavior. It would have been a whole lot smarter to just say that if the DHS finds violent extremists of any political fringe that conservatives and republicans support the government's work against such extremists.

And then Michael Steele would have had a golden opportunity to make major TV appearances denouncing extremists and racists like Stormfront.

I see the conservative/GOP response as at best a missed opportunity or at worst another self-inflicted political wound.

My Siamese likes to go to the playground (which he is not supposed to do, and he knows it), and he gets lots of exercise, for a cat.

My domestic shorthair is busy holding things down and gathering the power of gravity unto herself.

Only two of my cats have figured out that the cat door downstairs is for their benefit to actually go outside and work off some of their chubs. The other two prefer to loll around inside and obsess over meal time.

What, are women starting to question how you treat them?

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that “the Pakistani government is basically abdicating to the Taliban,” but the spokesman[Taliban], Haji Muslim Khan, said that Taliban anger was partly caused by the presence of female American soldiers in the region. Mr. Khan said that Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani, “should think about Western white women [what, you color blind?] who take up arms and come from 20,000 miles away to fight against us here.

Ah, the Taliban afraid of our female soldiers. Poor babies. heh

I recall reading a long while ago of some research groups trying to produce explosives based on nanosized aluminium, for which detonation velocity can be tuned varying particle size. This may be the origin of the myth.

You may be referring to the THERMOBARIC Hellfire missile warhead, containing fluorinated aluminum powder. (Extended big-bang theory.)

"The effects of the Hellfire Metal Augmented Charge (MAC) warhead are formidable. Unlike conventional warheads, which have a sharp pressure spike that decays rapidly, the MAC has a sustained pressure wave. That pressure propagates throughout a structure to extend the lethal effects of the warhead detonation."

Fluoride strikes again. YEEEE HAAAAA!

re: #424 Drogheda

Oy,

Too much Stargate.

Fuck the ACLU. It's time someone looked into them and their funding. If we want investigations let's put them on the table as well. My entire life the ACLU has supported nothing but anti-American causes. And they get away with so much of it because of their name - The American Civil Liberties Union. Their actions endanger those exact same civil liberties. But the half asleep sheep out there are lulled by a innocous sounding title. IIRC the ACLU started out as a communist organization.

If the Mexican swine flu thing gets crazy down there and Mexicans start flooding across the border, who do you think will fight like hell to let them swarm over here to endanger US citizens' health? The ACLU would have to be a top candidate.

They were a friend of the court for Rush too. They defend the constitutional rights of many unpopular groups, the popular ones seldom need there help. I sometimes wish they'd ignore the constitutional rights of NAMBLA, the Nazi's and the rest, but they never will.

The ACLU on extremely rare occasion will cherry pick one cause on the right to defend so they can maintain the sham that they are fair. And 99 point fucking 9 percent of the rest of the time they take on any anti-American cause they can find. Fuck them. Twice.

re: #438 Soona'

What's wrong with speaking out against this woman. So many people who have commented here have said the Repubs have no spine. Then when a Repub shows some spine he gets repudiated. I don't get it. The memo she circulated was wrong and smelled of political timing.

Anyone who doesn't understand the problem with that POS (the document, not Napolitano) doesn't know what a threat assessment is in the first place. There wasn't a single useful piece of information in that entire document. It was clearly just the latest shot in the Obama administration's war against conservatives.

A threat assessment is supposed to provide information that can be used by the intended consumer (in this instance, state and local law enforcement) in order to take some sort of action. Short of staking out the local VFW hall, what sort of action does this document suggest?

It was clearly written by starting with the conclusion (there are scary veterans out there who may not like Obama), and then a few random facts were thrown in to make it look plausible. This is exactly the opposite of how it should have been done.

An example of a proper threat assessment is one that came out awhile back warning of women using pregnancy prosthethes in order to hide explosives, drugs, or other contraband. It was written after several instances of exactly that had happened in various places, and warned of what to look for.

There's a big difference between that analysis and claiming that since Timothy McVeigh served in Desert Storm, any military veteran who doesn't have an Obama sticker on his car is a potential domestic terrorist.

Funky Chicken doesn't realize that anything the Republicans say or do will be spun by the MFMSM to look like anyone who doesn't agree with the lefty/liberal/statist point of view is an extremist right wing racist/homophobic nutbag. It's not new. It's been happening for years.

Funky Chickens post argues for a way to counter which is much better than just being defensive when these situations come up.

This one illustrates an opportunity for the RNC to take the momentum from its leftist detractors and to use it to attack those that we would like to see suffer for this nonsense, namely the likes of the Troofers and Stormfront as well as their other fellow travelers.

We could use some political Jujitsu to our advantage. It would be nice to see some leadership in the RNC that understands that.

The verdict is in:

For Obama, hipness is what it is

From your link:

It’s so hip that school kids in Albany, N.Y., coined a term for it: “Baracking.” And it doesn’t stop there. Those in the know at Albany High greet each other by saying: “What’s up, my Obama?” and they respond to a sneeze with “Barack you.” Misbehavior is peer-corrected with the admonition, “Barack’s in the White House,” which translates, “Show some respect.”
Deborah Tannen, professor of linguistics at Georgetown University, said it was “just really stunning” that kids were co-opting the president’s name as a term of endearment and identification.
“This is the most emblematic, positive thing that kids could say,” she said. “It’s connecting them to him, saying that there’s something special in the connection between them.”

No -- I wrote it that way deliberately.

And it WAS confirmed by the organizer of the conference. I strongly suspect that what's going on now is backing and filling, after he realized he couldn't deny the neo-Nazi connections with any credibility.

He only has himself to blame.

Looks like Charles put in a very clever link redirect. Heh.

The youth group they mention is YfWC, sorta new but they look to be cut from the same cloth as the Old YAfF, Young Americans for Freedom, from one chapter of that you might remember Kyle Bristow. Note that they also use a hammer in their logo and tend to like the same speakers: Tancredo, the Buchanans, and now Spencer.

YAF was a good org at one time, it just went to seed and then the evil weeds grew

When these murdering psychopaths are caught trying to kill Americans, we must simply do nothing. We cannot capture, question, interrogate, or even look at these people harshly.

You also want to extend to these vicious animals, the protections of the US constitution, regardless that they are not US citizens, nor on our soil when they tried to kill our citizens.

I think the vast mass of the American electorate pays scant attention to details. They're too busy watching American Idol, which unfortunately they do know the details about. What they respond to is 'noise' unfortunately. And the left makes a tremendous amount of noise throught their bullhorn, the MFM. I would love it if everyone was engaged and informed but the fact is they aren't. And sitting by quietly in judicious circumspection, while laudable, is also ineffective in today's media saturated environment IMHO. Romney believes in Creationism:

Romney was interviewed on NPR a few days before his faith speech. He didn't like being asked if he has a literal belief in the Genesis version of creation. Yet Romney said that the Bible is the word of God, and he tries to live by it.

Meaning, he does believe that the universe was created a few thousand years ago in seven days. And his presidential actions would be founded on such astoundingly unscientific beliefs.

This disqualifies him to be president. Along with every other fundamentalist candidate.

re: #346 Ojoe

Steel fails at room temperature if you overload it, which is what happened to the WTC perimeter columns once they were laterally unsupported by the floor framing.

The columns became 3 floors long, thus too slender & they buckled.

Any structural engineer would tell you.

Most ordinary solids have a second-order phase transition at about 2/3 of the melting temperature (on the Kelvin scale). For glass, plastics and such, this is called the glass transition temperature.

Tg is usually applicable to wholly or partially amorphous solids such as common glasses and plastics (organic polymers), although there is an analogous phenomenon in crystalline metals called the ductile-brittle transition temperature.

Iron melts at about 1536 C, or (adding 273.15) about 1809 K. Two-thirds of that is 1206 K, or (subtracting 273.15) about 933 C. At that temperature, it would be glowing a fairly bright yellow, like a cigaret when puffed. Get iron that hot, or a little more, and it can be rather easily deformed. Every blacksmith is familiar with this phenomenon. Even Rosie the Riveter.

Steel is not pure iron, but the same principles apply -- it weakens considerably waaay below its melting point.

The 2/3 rule (on Kelvin scale) applies approximately for a surprisingly large number of solids. Sorry I cannot point to a reference. Read it somewhere. (Ice is significantly at variance with that general rule, however.)

.

Debris from the main towers fell into one side of WTC 7, causing some structural damage. There are photographs of this damage, and it was substantial. Some of that debris was on fire, causing a fire to burn unchallenged for several hours since the NYPD fire had more pressing issues on it's hands and there was no water to fight it since all the local mains were destroyed.

WTC 7 is 47 stories of Straw Man for the Troofers.

That's not La Raza. If there is a connection between "El Plan..." and any Hispanic organization, it would be MEChA. Here's what La Raza says:

The term “La Raza” has its origins in early 20th century Latin American literature and translates into English most closely as “the people,” or, according to some scholars, “the Hispanic people of the New World.” The term was coined by Mexican scholar José Vasconcelos to reflect the fact that the people of Latin America are a mixture of many of the world’s races, cultures, and religions. Some people have mistranslated “La Raza” to mean “The Race,” implying that it is a term meant to exclude others. In fact, the full term coined by Vasconcelos, “La Raza Cósmica,” meaning the “cosmic people,” was developed to reflect not purity but the mixture inherent in the Hispanic people. This is an inclusive concept, meaning that Hispanics share with all other peoples of the world a common heritage and destiny.
