We Got Love Mail!

Moonbats • Views: 20,027

From a reader in Honolulu, Hawaii, possibly located somewhere near Punchbowl in Makiki, here’s a really lovely email from the phony return address “yourmom@lgfsucks.com,” titled (in an apparent attempt to trick me into reading it, even though the return address might be seen as a giveaway): “your excellent service” …

You really are a stupid, evil piece of shit. You understand this, right? How do you live with yourself knowing you are making your own country stupider for a living? You are an amoral traitor and deserved to be punished as such. I hope you shoot your own nuts off.

Feel the love!

Anthony Yelencsics was a small(er) town "Daley" in his time. As with Dr. Levin, I gained HIS respect when within the first year of my ex-wife's Presidency of ETEA, we filed MORE FORMAL GRIEVANCES than the UFT in New York City and had a Lunch-Hour "Informational Picket Line" around the BoE Building (Across The Highway From The Former Raritan Arsenal). Wouldn't that be more accurately, the right wing fringe? (As a conservative, at least I hope that is the case.)

At a certain point, you have to wonder how much fringe there is, and if it is too much to accept. No poll taken of muslims show that they condone attacks on civilians to be acceptable in majorities, but 25% itself is too high a number. How high is that number for the conservative "fringe".

Survey: Support for terror suspect torture differs among the faithful

The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.

The analysis is based on a Pew Research Center survey of 742 American adults conducted April 14-21. It did not include analysis of groups other than white evangelicals, white non-Hispanic Catholics, white mainline Protestants and the religiously unaffiliated, because the sample size was too small.

Andrew Kohut president of Pew Research Center and director of two of Pew's sub-projects: Pew Research Center for the People and the Press and Pew Global Attitudes Project.

Kohut is a regular guest on National Public Radio and television news programs such as the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, where he presents Pew's poll results and analysis.

Yeah. The say the propose allowing parents to opt out of vaccines but then they are against HPV vaccines. That could have been an opt-out which could already be the case. Maybe yes maybe no. Mandatory medical care sounds odd. Are they talking about nurses? IOW, remove the nurses office or some such idea like that?

158 calcajun  Thu, Apr 30, 2009 8:54:15pm

Charles, you are most certainly doing something right.

What is taking place is a visceral reaction by people who are, for want of a better term, ignorant. They are ignorant of this country's history, laws, traditions and even its values.

As I alluded to in a post yesterday, these people are reacting out of a primal fear of outsiders. That fear is being stoked by the pundits, for whom I am losing respect. The party is becoming reactionary and is pulling itself apart in the process. What Charles is doing--and there are others like him--is keeping people grounded in what this country is and what it stands for.

What I see here, though, is a lack of discussion as to why people are reacting the way they do. There's no real analysis for the basis of this fear. If there were, it might be possible to redirect/educate these people that their fear is misguided and that they are allowing their emotions to rule them and not their brains.

For instance, the issue of M. Wilders and his courting of the European racists. What is on its face might seem anathema to us, when seen through European eyes is acceptable, given the fractious nature of continental multi-party politics. But, at its core is the fact that the Europeans do not have the same social traditions which we have--including freedom of speech.

For many in this country who are ignorant of our own social traditions, let alone the history of Europe, it might seem sensible to restrict the rights of Muslims. It would make sense to indoctrinate the next generation with Christian values (they never say which values--or which denomination, though) in order to create a moral bulwark against the sinister creeping tide of Islam. But, there is an old military maxim that says, "he who defends everything, holds nothing."

I've said it before; these people are fighting the wrong battle in the right war. They are defending the wrong values and principles. If the First Amendment is eroded now, it will not withstand assault when the demographics change--and they will change for it is inevitable. It is the way of all history.

It is this fight--this ideological civil war-that must be fought within the party and the country to save the social traditions that have set us apart from the rest of the world. We must protect the freedoms which, to an outsider, appear as weakness--but which are the source of our greatest strength.

Gotta walk with my son now.

BBL.

Honestly, left wing is tickled pink at the thought of the right wing is eating their own. It's a cyclical thing, I suppose. The left wing had to endure Nader as a spoiler.

No nurses? That's crazy. In Georgia, they (primarily the nurses, teachers, and PTSA, I think) have been trying to pass a law requiring a nurse to be available at every school. Considering how many kids get medication for ADD and other things, that seems like a no-brainer.

The difference is, I guess, that I paid some rather heavy dues on the street. I learned lessons and haven't forgotten them.

My Great Uncle, Isadore Shapiro, used to buy calves in Iselin. Slaughtered them there, and brought them back to his Grocery/Butcher Store in Metuchen in his 1952 Chevrolet Green "Woodie" Station Wagon. Store was about 2 blocks from Campbell School. His mechanic was a "Black" fellow by the name of Moses who looked uncannily like Isaac Hayes without the sunglasses. So as my first impression of language was that as you got older, your language changed (to Yiddish) - my first impression of "Black Folks" was of strong competent people who knew how to fix cars.

Honestly, left wing is tickled pink at the thought of the right wing is eating their own. It's a cyclical thing, I suppose. The left wing had to endure Nader as a spoiler. Before that the right had to endure Perot. Eventually the pendulum will swing the other way as competing factions push the left away from the center. What I can't foresee is which style of "rightism" will be dominant going forward.

I'm buzzed so I'll tell you my worst nightmare: theocratic socialism. It could come out of some of the stuff people like Huckabee have proposed. The state pays churches to deliver all social services for free as long as you say your prayers first. Free medicine if you pray. Free food to the hungry if they pray, all on the government dime.

Government paying churches to deliver social services is still big government and I'd rather have my socialism without the Jesus in it.

We always had a nurses office in NY or NJ. Their platform is saying they would require "parental notification" which in my mind would mean for anything and everything if it was codified. So if a kid gets a small cut during recess it would have to be a long drawn out process of notifying the parents.

No, you're right. Kid that are of that age will be able to get condoms regardless. Not saying that the nurses office is the place for dispensing condoms but the fear does not match the reality of teenagers being able to get that on their own. Most of the time those that are active won't get condoms. Also, the availability of condoms has nothing to do with sexual activity.

He meant your Macadamia nuts...

BTW, a quote from RR regarding when the party becomes the problem:

“We should emphasize the things that unite us and make these the only ‘litmus test’ of what constitutes a Republican: our belief in restraining government spending, pro-growth policies, tax reduction, sound national defense, and maximum individual liberty.” He continued, “As to the other issues that draw on the deep springs of morality and emotion, let us decide that we can disagree among ourselves as Republicans and tolerate the disagreement.”

Notice there is nothing in there about religion or abortion or gay-marriage. We (Republicans) are SOL as long as we continue to reject anything that does not conform to the tenets of the far right. A candidate for President who wants us to teach that the the Earth is 6000 years old or who calls gays evil is not going to win, not now, not never. Until the RP figures that out, we are screwed. Rush and Sean can bellow all they want, RR understood the preachers and hard-core folks had to stay at a distance or there was not a chance of winning the election. I agree with them on 80% of the issues, but the 20% they are wrong on are show-stoppers. 2010 is lost unless we figure this out. It took us 10 years to get rid of the Moral Majority, we can't afford to take 10 years again to fix our present problems.

It is a sad day when we are facing the quality of Democrats out there right now (Pelosi, Reid, Leahy, Murtha, Edwards, Kerry, etc.), and we are losing ground. I can't think of a bigger bunch of idiots except for that guy on You Tube who was shooting the beer while he had his friend Taser him. While Charles has acquired something of a hair-trigger reputation nowerdays with the banhammer, I can't say he is that irrational. God knows if he were as bad as many say, I would probably have gotten the boot after the whole Bush/Obama/Bow/Medal conflict.

But I didn't.

The moral of the story is: if you want to disagree with something, come in, behave yourself, and make it clear.

Sadly, you don't see many doing that on the new nowerdays.

I had a friend who was staff at attrition.org. It's a grey hat site that archived script kiddie Web intrusions and other security stuff for forensic purposes for both FBI, companies, and hacker attrition. They had a warning on their site that anything that was sent to the site automatically agreed to it being used for any and all purposes.

You should have seen the directed and mis-directed anger. It was very entertaining watching the authors slowly go through the realization after their knee-jerk blinders dissolved.

Almost all of my hate mail is now apparently coming from the right wing.

Well lately you've done a very good job of helping the right take stock and hopefully given them the tools to clean house (or at least made everyone aware of it) The same hasn't held true as much for the left recently. I think it's a function of the left being in power. Although they are still pissed off, I don't think they waste time thinking about the opposition now. They are letting our side eat it's own with the BS idea of ideological purity coming from the social cons. If the right gets its act together and we win an election, the left will come back to hate you some more. So at least you can look forward to that.
