Steele Promises ‘New Ideas’
Andrew Malcolm has the full text of GOP chairman Michael Steele’s speech today: RNC Chairman Michael Steele tries to re-rally the GOP.
A point that Steele made: “The Republican Party is again going to emerge as the party of new ideas.”
The key phrase, though, seems to be that the GOP is going to emerge with new ideas — sometime in the future. Because I’ve read the speech twice and I don’t see any of those new ideas there.
It would be nice if “intelligent design” creationism isn’t among these sparkly new concepts. But unfortunately, the party’s rising stars — Bobby Jindal, Tim Pawlenty, Mark Sanford, etc. — all subscribe to the Discovery Institute’s talking points.
Meanwhile, time’s running out to show up with these new ideas, judging from the latest Gallup poll: GOP Losses Span Nearly All Demographic Groups.
