We Got Mail!

Several emails from a supporter of the “Pro-Köln” group in Germany provide a revealing (if disturbing) glimpse into the mindset of the people who are drawn to these fascist groups. Obscenities are left intact to give you the full experience.

(To recap, “Pro-Köln” is the group of neo-Nazi-linked “anti-jihadists” that announced Robert Spencer of jihadwatch.org and Pamela Geller of atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com as speakers at their meeting earlier this month — and then both Spencer and Geller backed out when their participation was exposed here at LGF, although they continue to attack me viciously and deny that “Pro-Köln” has any fascist or neo-Nazi connections.)

In the first one, our anonymous German admirer claims there were 1,000 people at their hatefest, even though photographs and articles published by German media showed less than 200 haters in attendance:

Charles Johnson, you are a liar. There were almost 1,000 people at the anti-fascist congress. I was there. Pro Köln has photos on its website to prove it. Don`t you know that the German regular prints lies about Pro Köln because it fears this movement? Do you even care? Even more people would have come if assholes like you hadn’t tried to scare them off. You should have seen the assorted towelheads and anarcho-fascist thugs that tried to dirsupt us. Guess that’s the side we can find you on. By the way, if Israel is considered “fascist” by some it is because of its actions, not because some Jewish person appears on a stage with Pro Köln or not. Also, Berlusconi just came out and said “Italy does not want to become a multi-ethnic state.” So fuck you, Johnson.

“Towelheads.” Isn’t that nice? And antisemitism too!

But those aren’t the only targets of this person’s hatred; he also loathes Bruce Bawer. Can you guess why?

AS for Bruce Bawer, how quickly he forgets that his fellow gay hero and anti-Islam crusader Pim Fortuy was ALSO roundly LIBELLED AS A NAZI BEFORE BEING KILLED BY AN ANIMAL-RIGHTS ACTIVIST TO “PREVENT A SECOND HITLER”. So Bawer is talking out of both sides of his queer arse. How about the treatment meted out to Michael Savage by the UK? Now you know what it feels it, brother. Welcome to the “fascist club”.

And just to complete the picture, our anonymous admirer added this (in an email sent on Mother’s Day):

The man with the offending “gallows” T-shirt was an infiltrated provacateur. He was NOT with Pro Köln asked to leave immediately. On the other hand, the counter-demonstrators were baying for our blood and screaming threats of violence and outrageous insults all day long. But you don`t give a fuck about that do you, you goddamn fucking liar! Fuck you and your mother!

And with that charming thought, we conclude this edition of “The Friends of Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller.”

This is a trend I spotted a while back......

if Israel is considered “fascist” by some it is because of its actions

The Eurofascists support Israel because they see it as another ethnic nationalist movement like their own. When Israel's supporters and its critics agree that it's an apartheid state I think you can all see the obvious problem with this.

Islamists, Leftists and Eurofascists are agreeing that Israel is an opressive regime. Eurofascists, because they support it and Islamists and Leftists because they oppose it. Israel has enough PR problems but when people claim to tacitly support Israel for the same reasons others oppose it means there's a very serious problem. Israel is fighting for its survival and the support of ethnic nationalist movements is not at all helpful.

There seems to be a lot of enmity generated in this dispute from what I have read on this web site and others.

I don't support fascism, but wonder whether western thought and rationality is an appropriate format for analyzing and rendering conclusions about a faith that is levantine in its discourse and requirements?

The recent attempted synagogue bombings in New York raises the issue to me of what "freedom of religion" means in the context of islamic practice, if the underlying language and commandments are of a violent nature such that a follower may legitimately believe they are best practicing their religion by doing so.

The Muslim wannabe bombers in New York all were converted in the N.Y. prison system. The state of New York pays radical Imams to proselytize in its prisons. There was a front page article about this in the Wall Street Journal back in 2003.

Devotion to Islam requires its follower to be militantly anti other religions. Mohammad was a warrior. Islams prophet, its messiah, was a blood thirsty warrior. That isnt my perception, its fact. It isnt my anti Islam thoughts surfacing. Its fact. Other religions have three choices in the face of the truly devout muslim. 1. Submit. 2. Die. 3. Fight back.

I'd be one of the last people in the world to defend Muslim extremists or rioters but, fact is, European Muslims are not just seething when they complain about discrimination and racism from the natives. I've been there recently, in France, Belgium, and Italy. The open racism toward non-white immigrants is often quite shocking to an American. The Euros, indoctrinated by their own media, take it for granted that a white American would share these attitudes, so they don't hold back. Nuanced they aren't.

The fascist right is still small in Europe but it is growing by leaps and bounds. Worse yet, the rate of growth is bound to accelerate as the movement's very size gives it greater credibility. The real problem is that the multi-cultists who administer Europe from their Brussels lair are as clueless about this situation as the Weimar government was about the problems of Germany in the 1920s. The result, with another global depression in the offing, might well be the same.

Speaking of the problems Europeans are having with their immigrant population, I think they could use morre enforcement of their own civil and criminal law, and not allow no-go areas for police.

I think the War on Terror is a combined set of military operations against non-state actors, a cold war on states that secretly support them, and an anti-piracy law enforcement problem.

IOW, Islan has as its cultural background and association and in some Islamic branches, religious dogma, with rather strong liturgical support from the Koran, that it is the one true faith and others should be at best secondary and in general elminated, violently. We need to understand these are imperatives for some or most of the Islamic world - certainly not all, btw, but the "moderates" tend to have sympathies for the violent, unfortunately for all involved.

That about right?

And you're asking if this is a problem for western rationality? No, not at all. Of course, objectivity in social sciences like sociology and anthropology are somewhat out of fashion, now that post-modernistist, politically correct, self-hating, anti-imperialist, neo-romantic class-conscious Marxist imperialism is the standard in even Western academia.

Are you broadly suggesting we need an anti-rational response to jihadism? Sorry, no. Don't need it. Can't recommend it. Better off without it.

Have a nice day.

I think to be successful in this war we need to really grasp things. What is moderate islam? Who are the moderate islamicists? How do you define moderate and would it be moderate to our thinking?

Could you explain that a bit better? On the surface it seems like a "there is no moderate Islam" argument -of which Geert Wilders would not disapprove. I'm not tying you in with that mindset, mind you. Just looking for clarification.

If Moderate Islam proclaims, in every single language of the world, including Arabic, that Mohammed was WRONG in calling for Jews, Christians, and Infidels to be killed and/or put into Slavery, then it might have a chance to survive. If they proclaim that their jihad is an inner struggle for the soul and not to subjugate the world by the sword, then it might have a chance to survive.
I, for one, just don't see this happening.

I think we have to break out of the cycle of simplistic thinking to get solutions rather than just wish for them, which is what the US government is now doing via Obama's pander and error admission act.

There is a very good chance that Pakistan's nukes will fall to the Taliban, Obama will happily allow Iran to have nukes.

Wouldn't the Taliban simply transfer said nukes to al Qaeda? And wouldn't Iran just go ahead and nuke Israel? just kinda askin'

Evening, Lizardia. From the recommendations on the Book Thread of a few nights ago, I got some Ken Bruen books out of the library and read 3 of them this afternoon.

His writing style is rather minimalist for my taste, and I found myself totally not sympathizing with his drunk cokehead anti-hero. For noir fiction, I prefer Mo Hayder.

Burping of the lambs blows roast off menu

GIVE up lamb roasts and save the planet. Government advisers are developing menus to combat climate change by cutting out “high carbon” food such as meat from sheep, whose burping poses a serious threat to the environment.

Out will go kebabs, greenhouse tomatoes and alcohol. Instead, diners will be encouraged to consume more potatoes and seasonal vegetables, as well as pork and chicken, which generate fewer carbon emissions.

Just got off the phone with my dad: This has political content.

My handicapped brother,47, who became a widower 3 months ago. Now he's romantically involved with a 65 year old Philipino woman who wants to get married immediately. Her visa expired, and she's working under the table caring for and living with an elderly woman who pays her $250/day - under the table.

My father went with them to see an immigration lawyer. The lawyer said: The INS is not going to go for this. The woman's friend, my brother's housekeeper, paid for by the hardworking taxpayers of California, looked at my father and said: "Are you married? No? Hey, she could marry you!"

As the world turns......

Also the immigration lawyer said that there will be no immigration reform, it's all talk. And he was a Phillipino lawyer.

I am not suggesting anything, and you misread my comment about rationality. I do think that American policymakers work from religious, societal, and cultural concepts that are inappropriate to the problem.

Perhaps at issue is the adaptability of islam to modernity. I don't see much in the way of heavy work by Obama with American and European muslim scholars in that regard, which is surprising considering his self-esteem in his powers of persuasion and people-skills. Just a bow to a Saudi King and pandering left and right.

Anyhow, I am sorry to see the online attacks back and forth, and the type of e-mails sent to Charles, which are unwarranted.

It’s human nature to be sure, but it reaches the utmost peak of absurdity when folks who were brought into the freedom movement by Ron Paul, who in all fairness are intelligent, compassionate, gifted people, think that they after 1 or 2 years of sign waving and research know enough to lead the charge!

Meanwhile, the extremists are showing up to post at the end of earlier threads, as they always do. There's some kind of weird impulse that drives these people to try to get the last word, after the discussion has dwindled out and everyone else has moved on. They seem to believe that if they get that one last comment, their views will somehow be validated.

Charles, due to my daily schedule I rarely have a lot of free time available to browse past the high points of your excellent daily threads, so a certain portion of my posts end up at the tail end of the earlier threads simply because I don't have all day every day to continually follow the threads in real-time, like many 'regulars' seem to be doing. Hope this circumstance doesn't tag me with that 'extremist' label...

They did that before, and eventually dropped it. Fool me once....and I just read the non-subscription articles. It was great when they decided to make it free, and thus you are actually able to find updates. In the old days, major papers had at least 2 editions a day, real newspapers. Now? He can claim credit for those all he wants. But, I would wager that the vast majority of attendees to those events are not Ron Paul supporters, never were Ron Paul supports and will never be Ron Paul supporters.

That said, they are being tainted by too many kooks coming out of the woodwork, from John Birchers to Paulians, they have made whatever the purpose of these events moot.

What kind of event would you suggest a non-Paulian, non-JBS, non-Survivalist nutjob, regular run of the mill conservatives get involved with? It appears that there are none.

A leftist can attend an anti-american hatefest and somehow walk away untainted and even empowered for "being involved" and "not answering to the man"

Looks like Judge Napolitano is going to have his show on Fox News soon -- so you can expect Alex Jones to start being a regular feature on Fox, along with Ron Paul who already is.

I'm thinking that it might come to having to jam the satellite uplink The Running Man-style and playing videos or audios of Alex Jones ranting 9/11 troofer nonsense or raving about how the Bush administration was Hitlerian to get the point across that he's a psycho, and the Fox audience is being tricked by a snake oil salesman.

That or its time to just not give a damn, and let all the wackos just destroy themselves so the adults can take over and clean up the mess after.

That would be good news. I don't understand how Paul has suddenly gotten so much provenance with the Right all of a sudden. He was an awfully weak "also-ran" in the primaries. Being able to spam internet polls isn't exactly the mark of a high leader (not that kind of "high") or driving movement.

We don't want him, and we damn sure don't need him...

He showed an internet savvy better than any other Republican. He raised a considerable amount of money in relation to his actual number of supporters. If McCain did half as well, he would have matched Obama in money. Ron Paul mobilized his supporters much more than any other Republican. The message never stuck, or perhaps, people did "get it" and rejected him outright.

re: #230 Desert Dog
Yes, but let's try to be fair Desert Dog - lots of Left leaning groups have tried to organize anti-war demonstrations (as an example) and have found themselves in the midst of anarchists (who, after all, need SOMEBODY to organize an event!), envrionmentalists, Code Pink (who, apparently will show up anywhere just to appear to be relevent) Gay Rights activists and the like, the mass of whom would appear to be in support of the stated Anti-War nature of the protest or whatever.
Once a public assemblage is announced, certain groups will indeed show up and try to "catch the wave" of whatever grassroots movement they think is coming.

re: #251 unrealizedviewpoint Well

I predict Tea Party's are only in their infancy. As this recession worsens, the folks will come out in greater numbers - even the MFM will take notice.

let's not get too carried away here!

Actually the shame of it all is that at a lot of the N.C. tea parties, many friends (some LGFer's) reported that the chants and all weren't AGAINST Obama, but were against enormous government spending by BOTH Democrats and Republicans.
Sometimes it does appear that governments' (Fed, State and local) FIRST and sometimes only meaningful response to fiscal crisis is to increase taxes or increase the number of taxes, user fees, costs of licenses and the like.
Someone out here linked to a story that said the State of California has more than 80,000 employess making more than $100,000.00 a year each.
To put that in it's proper perspective, that's more people that three entire Army Divisions of people!
And of course there is the risk of raising taxes during a depression (or deep recession if you prefer). I just wish governments were as quick to look for ways to reduce spending.

I think you answer your own question when noting his internet success. His core constituency was effective in a viral internet campaign. Since the election, his peeps have *not* stopped the campaign, unlike the traditional party structures, which are either popping the champagne or licking their wounds. . They have accelerated.

I think there is a large subset of the R's who are looking for revenge (or retaliation, or healing, whatever) because of the recent election who are glomming on to what appears to be the most activist brand available. And that is the tax people. And those are the Libertarians of whom Paul is a former Presidential candidate.

I just wish governments were as quick to look for ways to reduce spending.

Consider this: We The People elect folks to Congress. Congress creates and passes Bills, which are signed into law or vetoed. Once a session of Congress ends, the legislators come home and say,'look at what I've accomplished". The mindset is: we (Congress) are only working if we create MORE legislation.
Now, what if Congress got the word from We The People that we have too much government, too much legislation, too much interference in our freedoms. 'Congress', we would say, 'start working on ELIMINATING rules, laws, mandates, agencies, and the like'. They can't. It goes against the mindset.

"A tent big enough for Nazis is a tent too big enough for me." And for me and for anyone with half a brain and a sense of decency.
And I do have to admit to a degree of ignorance here Killgore. The first "mass demonstration" I saw was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s march on Washington, culminating in his "I Have A Dream" speech. After that all I seemed to see were anti-Vietnam War protests and as I was IN the Army at the time and either in or on my way to Vietnam, they didn't really attract any positive attention from me. So I really don't know whether or not it's customary for groups holding what they HOPE will be large demonstrations to say "X,Y and Z groups or supporters are not welcome". I think the Right - being relatively new to Public Protests - has taken some cues from the LEFT as to how to go about arranging them and - although it may have flown right past me - I don't recall LEFT demonstrators saying "X,Y and Z groups or supporters not welcome" nor how they could enforce that "dis invitation" to a public event.

You are indeed correct, but I think that's what happened in the US Senate which overwhelmingly voted against funds for Obama to close Gitmo and bring the detainess here to the US. I think, quite honestly, that an awful lot of those Senators were hearing "NIMBY" from their constituents and voted accordingly.
Indeed, if there was one point candidate Obama made that resonated with me, it was his pledge of no more doing buisness the way it's been done for generations in Washington; no more "Inside the Beltway" types making decisions or policy. Hence you'll understand my surprise and dismay that almost everyone in his cabinet or appointed to high postions below cabinet level, have been "Inside the Beltway, politics as usual types".

The Congress voting no funds to close GITMO was not about less government, it was about CYA. "I want to get re-elected, this won't fly, vote noes on it!"
Obama never resonated with me. Once I heard, "no more business as usual", I knew it was, well, NONSENSE.

All the money that in my life I did spend,
Be it mine right- or wrongfully,
I let it slip gladly through the hands of my friends
To tie up the time most forcefully.
But the bottles are done,
And we've killed every one
And the table's full and overflowed.
And the corner sign
Says it's closing time,
So I'll bid farewell and be down the road.

Ev'ry girl that ever l've touched,
I did not do it harmfully.
And ev'ry girl that ever I've hurt,
I did not do it knowin'ly.
But to stay as friends and to make amends
You got to have the time to stay behind.
Since my feet are now fast
And point away from the past,

Kunstler is an FDR Democrat who, besides his normal gloom and doom, both lauds and criticizes Obama.

As for President Obama himself... I can't help but keep thinking about the 1961 Harry Truman interview on Hulu (which I might post again on the overnight thread spin-offs)... Truman commented quite a bit about the state of the press at that time, how they eventually turn on all Presidents, and how Presidents have to be their own men and not beholden to any one group. It's a good interview.

President Obama likewise, to carry out the duties of the office, will eventually have to be his own man, though there may be plenty of political groups who would like to take credit for getting him into office.

re: #59 offendi

Christianity and Judaism have both "matured" if you will through their respective reformations, and so have relegated the most violent tendencies to the fringes, that were more prevalent in earlier times. In a manner of speaking, they've evolved because of the advances brought about by the enlightenment and the scientific discoveries that it brought. Modern Christianity and modern Judaism have learned how to get along with the modern world and the sciences that come with it. Islam, which had its own heyday during the medieval period (we get a lot of our math from them), nonetheless has not had its own "reformation" that has become mainstream in Islamic teaching. There are Muslim teachers out there who advocate a rapprochment with the modern world, whether democracy or science, but these have not become the dominant voice, thus they haven't become authoritative. Hopefully, there will emerge a school of Islamic thought that can gain support among not just the public, but key religious leaders. In the mean time, as others have so capably said already, defeating Islamist extremism does not mean we have to give in to fascist extremism. One evil is not the answer to another evil. Good is the answer to evil. And practicing tolerance while protecting the public will do more to advance our interests than becoming a mirror image of our enemy.

Hi Walter. It's been a fairly slow day. Someone named 'tyree' is still defending Bill Donohue's statements on the end of that thread:
[Link: littlegreenfootballs.com...] on

Just got home from work at the theatre, too late to get into that debate, and as nasty as I am, I normally don't jump to hard on opinion on any thread that deals with beliefs and religion. It's apples and oranges when you are rebutting faith versus facts, so I don't normally go to far into those discussions.

I have a few sticking points I argue for hours, mainly in relation to anti-semitism and the shoah, but that's it.

re: #355 Iron Fist

Do they sell ammunition on Woot? If so, it might be worth looking into. There was a gun show today. I didn't have a lot to report. Selection was sparse. I saw the first uzi that I've seen in a whinle. They were asking $1500 for it. They had a barrett for $9998, which, scarily enough, isn't really a bad price for the weapon. That's one big reason (probably only reason) that I'll never have one. A handful of AK 47s quite a few ARs, and your standard hunting fare. And pistols. Tabels and tabels of pistols of all makes and models.

Still, selection was nothing to write home about. I did pick up a Surefire 6P® LED Defender® for $80 plus tax. It's $112 plus S&H straight from Surefire, so I figure I got a reasonable deal.

No ammunition or weapons on Woot, just disposable crap. $80 for flashlight? Flashlights just shouldn't cost $80. I got a couple LEDs, they were maybe $25... LEDs are great though...hardly use any power - and major illumination...

Yes, the far left progressives of the Democratic Party. It's not some secret society or something. Do you ever read "The Nation." It's one of the most popular progressive magazine in the world.

Read it some time, compare the positions of the editors, writers and the politicians that contribute to the magazine to Obama's policies (and future policies) and you will see where his training and direction comes from.

No one here suggested he is someone's puppet, but he is certainly following the talking points of the far left. Obama just didn't pull this stuff out of his ass one morning. He has been groomed and taught by some of the greatest leftist and radicals of our time. Look at the folks he has been hanging with for the last 20 years.

None of this is some sort of mystery, or hidden information. It's common knowledge, and it doesn't take any smarts to find this stuff out.

There are people like Holton who "buy" there way into shows, they give lots of money, and the theatre companies compromise on casting and will cast someone like Holton, fearful that the person will not contribute again if they don't get a part.

How do I know that Holton is one of these people, well, he told us first how much money he donates and then told us how great of an actor he is. He brought it up, not me.

Hi juante! Ya know I'll never understand guys like Donohue AT ALL. He would at least appear to be too intelligent to believe in his own crap, much less try to pass it off on all of us. So why does he even try?

I was surprised, years ago, when I found out that "apologist" was not a pejorative term among theologians. An apologist is someone who "defends the faith against objections, and points out the perceived weaknesses of other world views."

Apparently Donohue views himself as a balls-to-the-wall apologist, ninja cheerleader for the faith, and has never seen a shade of gray between himself and his "enemies." I would like to think that, at some level, Donohue and his political equivalents realize the strangling effect these blinders have on their souls and intellects, but I don't see much evidence of it.

Never knew that. Honestly, theatre is a business, and just like any business, professional don't really have ego like displayed by austin_blue. Jumping in here, bragging about how much money he donates to the opera and how great he is, that doesn't cut it.

Theatre is an ensemble endeavor. It takes the combined work of many people, both talent on stage and talented technical people. Working together is the key to a good show, a professional company.

I've been doing this 40 years, and I can spot a drama queen a mile away (although austin_blue made it really easy). These type of theatre people never last too long (unless, sometimes they buy their way through a career). Ego's are fine off the stage, in front of the media, off the stage around your fans, but when you are working, ego should stop at the edge of the boards.

Ego like austin_blue's will ruin a show and can even be dangerous to the cast and fellow workers.

Austin_blue, try toning it down around here, maybe you can get along.

re: #523 Racer X

True. Most people have no clue about the amount of preparation and hard work that goes into a production before opening night. Not to mention the lighting, sound, and backstage folks.

I go through that same process about every 2 months. We have 7 shows a year, and they run 6 to 7 weeks each. While the show is running, we are rehearsing the next one.

And we only have 2 weeks to cross over. That includes tearing down the current set, putting up the next set, teching the lights and sound and building the costumes. The actors don't even get to work on a full set until about 5 days before opening.

On top of all that, we have about 15 special event nights a year, which include concerts, rentals and business meetings.

It's show business, emphasis on business.

Have you ever tried to pick up transmissions from them? Weather satellites, space shuttle etc. You can get all band radios that will pick up everything from 1kh to 2.3gh, and there are web pages that will tell you what frequencies to set the radio to when the object goes over your location. It's fun to track them that way.

And sometime the shuttle and space station will do public broadcasts and you can hear that stuff.

"No political truth is certainly of greater intrinsic value, or is stamped with the authority of more enlightened patrons of liberty than that on which the objection is founded. The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny."

The last part has a bit about counterprotesters.

That is probably true. Not that those savages (Nazis) wouldn't like to behave in the same way. But it's true, politicians will give the left (speaking broadly) a near free reign on their protests - just look at the first of may demos in Berlin for instance- while the right is lucky to get a permit at all (Not that the left bothers with that).

If the right ever displayed the level of aggressivenes the typical left protest or counter protest (to a nazi demo which btw are always hugely outnumbered) displays the police would throw their asses into jail with extreme prejudice.

If I had my way the next demo the police would not separate nazi and the hard left just make the riots are contained to them.

Charles, speaking hard left, are you aware of the role Benno Ohnesorg's murder played in the formation of Germany's various leftist terroist organization ?
TL,DR for Benno Ohnesorg: Student leader shot during an protest in West-Berlin by an undercover cop, cop claimed he came at him with a knife. Various terrorist outfits used his death as a justification for armed resistance ("the state shot first").
Guess who was an ideological agent (albeit paid as well) for the Stasi ? The cop. So far it does not look like the murder was ordered, but since there are quotes of him in Stasi archives professing his willingness to kill on demand... . It is a recent development - broken in the mainstream press last week- but one can assume that a few cherished myths of the german left will now crumble.

Hey sweetie, you can't stand the heat, stay out of the blog. I've been out most of the night and I wasn't going to post, but since you asked.

No, I don't think you get it.

Austin Blue comes here and makes the gravest of sins. Says the president is not a socialist, at least not in the way that's represented here like Stalin or Marx. Also says Obama is his own man and when others disagree, instead of coming up with a serious rebuttal (even when AB asked for one), he's told to F off and called a few nasty names. Then he's humiliated and attacked personally. The intention, obviously is to humiliate him enough that he'll go away and stop posting. Honest debate? Not in the least.

I don't even agree with Austin Blue about taxing social security, Medicare or Medicaid or cutting those funds. In fact, those are the three things we should never touch, but I feel sorry for him (or her). He seemed to be wanting a real debate and all he got was his ass handed to him by a bunch of bullies. You being one (see #363). Walter Newton was worse. And that's why I downdinged you.

And thanks for calling me an idiot. Proves my point further.

Nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with your "style" of debate.

AB ... Sweetie? F*ck you ... oh, yeah, you don't like that do you ... I can take any fire thrown my way ... if you don't think I can ... you have not been here long ... stick around ... there are many other "Sweeties" on this board that will not back down either ...
