I think I've finally figured out how to embed youtube videos! I really hope it works this time. This was an Over the Rhine concert I attended back in March. The drum solo is kick ass!

Thanks Charles. For some reason when I tried it last weekend, it just didn't work. I know I'm missing something, but I just don't know what yet. I WILL figure this out! Argh!

How's everyone's Memorial Day weekend going so far?
Surfed glassy (very rare) 3ft Diamond Head (got in the water @ 6:30am),
came home to the beautiful and talented GF, had coffee, muffin and fruit, will be heading out for the usual weekend bike ride soon. It's a beautiful day on the Island.
How can I not reflect on those who gave it all to keep us free.
We are the luckiest people on earth.

Trying to hook up my brand new surround sound system with my brand new HDMI TV and Blue Ray player. Not working out well at all. I now realize that I am no longer the Audiophile I thought I was. So I came to LGF just to prevent myself from hurling something through a wall. Other than that.... good.

Great, though it's kind of clouded and occasionally raining droplets here near Washington, DC.
Seeing Nancy Sinatra ("These Boots Are Made For Walking" ca. 1967) supporting the Rolling Thunder Bikers for MIA/POWs was an all American moment!
Her father Frank as a WWII Navy sailor in "Anchors Aweigh" and "On the Town" brings back the times when Hollywood hoofers played US soldiers & sailors fighting fascists abroad with pride.

re: #21 alegrias
It wasn't patriotism on the part of most of the acting and writing community. It was either orders from Uncle Joe or visits from British Intelligence that gave us the efforts. Exceptions were Abbot and Costello who donated a huge amount of time on War Bond promotions (who later hounded immediately after the war for taxes). Bob Hope who stumbled onto the USO scene quite by accident, made it a real moral building success out of sincere effort. There were quite of few Nazi sympathizers and fellow travelers that joined in only because they were forced too.

Take the doohickey in your left hand and find the thingamabob with your right. When you feel it, take the doohickey and plug it into the thingamabob. If it doesn't go in, you may need a whatsis tool but don't force it!
Please send check of $100 for the consultation fee!

No- they were satisfied with ron paul's answer, that the money would be better spent with him so he could do some good with it. Then the waitress showed up to take our drink orders, so I ordered a Dead Nazi. :p

That is so true. Anytime I come across "true believers" of whatever stripe, they just can't take a joke. They're absolutely certain of their rightness and anything that contradicts it, even a joke, is seen as the enemy. They're kinda sad. But it also makes it easier to make fun of them!

The actor that played Robin Hood, and played many roles in WWII films was a well known admirer of Hitler. There were many people that felt that way in England at the start of WWII. It is well documented in many books. I did not expect to have to deliver footnotes. On the part of the writers, the famous quote by "Lillian Hellman" at a writers meeting where they were discussing how to protest "Rooselvelt's War" of "The Rodina has been invaded" is documented in more than one place also. This caused a complete change of direction for a lot of Hollywood writers and directors. Remembering this duplicity and who the "players" were, was what lead Reagan to get involved in the Screen Actors Guild politics in the first place (when the Party members tried to seize control - veriifed in the KGB files after the fall of the Soviet Union). Remember the NYT ran editorials criticizing the actions against the Nazi's because even though they declared war against us it wasn't enough to declare war against them....until they were no longer allies with Russia but their enemy.
