Paulians Pushing for Judge Napolitano

Media • Views: 4,003

Ron Paul “activists” are pushing hard to get Judge Andrew Napolitano his own show on Fox News — because they know he’ll be an advocate for their whacked out economic theories and the conspiracy madness of people like Alex Jones and Lew Rockwell: Don’t read this if you aren’t a libertarian blogger.

Given Fox News’s turn toward the hard right, the bug-eyed craziness of Glenn Beck, and the frequent appearances of Ron Paul on several of their shows, I wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if this happens.

You may recall that on his Fox News webcast recently, Napolitano introduced Alex Jones as “the one, the only, the great Alex Jones.”

And here’s an interesting and revealing little tidbit of Ron Paul information: on the YouTube channel of a vile racist freak going by the name of “NonJewMedia,” the only subscription is to … Ron Paul’s official YouTube channel.

For more on why the increasing legitimization of Ron Paul in the GOP is such a terrible development: Angry White Man - The bigoted past of Ron Paul.

Typo. First w should be n.

If FOX thinks the Judge will pull in ratings, they'll find a show for him to host. Simple as that ...

7 FurryOldGuyJeans  Mon, May 25, 2009 11:51:38am

This hard right shift must be something VERY new since I gave up watching them more than at a glance before the election. At that time they were going remarkably squishy FMSM with all their preoccupation with missing white girls.

Given the numbers FNC has I doubt it. FNC still garners a quite respectable number of viewers.

You have to understand a few years ago we all watched FNC. Somewhere in the last year they've gone full blown crazy. It's not that I ever liked O'Reilly or Hannity to begin with. But Shepherd Smith used to be a reasonable guy - that that whole "we don't f***en torture" business...

12 ArrowSmith  Mon, May 25, 2009 11:54:12am

Good marketing strategy -- if you've got a cow that produces, milk it.

/would the imagery of milking a bull be a bit more appropriate?

14 _RememberTonyC  Mon, May 25, 2009 11:55:39am

FOX News has many flaws, but when you look at its competition, they look a bit better. I may be wrong, but Hannity seems to have vastly reduced the presence of pat buchanan. buchanan on the other hand is a paid performer on MSNBC. And the odious C. Amanpour is still on the air for CNN. One thing I will always like about FOX is that they give the right of center crowd a fair shake and they DO want America to do well. The same cannot be said for its competition.

15 FurryOldGuyJeans  Mon, May 25, 2009 11:55:45am

Gonna throw something out here. I have listened to the "Judge" on the radio for several years now.

He was always very fair minded and smart, and was able to explain things very clearly, and did not go for the nut types.

The issues regarding water-boarding started him down the path he has begun to travel, but the bail-outs completely sent him over the edge of the cliff.

I always enjoyed him, and hated the show when Brian was on (I always preferred when he hosts alone, Brian is not a stunning mind IMHO).

The Judge is aligning himself with the wrong crowd. Don't think he's in it for the money (he's loaded) mebbe the fame, but he believes what he is saying.

22 quickjustice  Mon, May 25, 2009 11:57:39am

I heard Napolitano, as a "libertarian", debate a conservative about the Iraq War three years ago. He accused the Bush Administration of war crimes, opposed the Iraq War, and said that Bush was using the 9/11 terrorist attacks as an excuse to destroy civil liberties and create a dictatorship.

This was long before anyone considered Barack Obama a serious contender for the presidency. I was not impressed.

Let them go ahead and put another twit on Fox. The Ronulans are adept at astroturfing - it's the only thing they're really good at, as they demonstrated during the last election and are demonstrating again in this case. In the media business, though, it isn't about how many sock puppets you can register. It's about advertising dollars. Unless the Ronulans start buying homes, television sets and Arbitron memberships for their socks, the whole enterprise will crash, burn and leave a smoking hole in the ground.

It may very well wind up taking Fox News down along with it. But that's the price you pay for consorting with assholes.

I agree! I listened to Rush for many, many years, but just grew out of talk radio. When I found LGF and blogs, I was thrilled because it allowed for more real discussions instead of listening to one person's ideas like you get with the radio format. Since finding blogs, I feel I've been much better able to define for myself where I truly stand on issues. I don't need to be spoon fed by the msm or any pundit either. I think until people realize that all forms of the media are in it for self-interested reasons, we'll continue to have issues.

Charles,

These last two threads place a very useful juxtaposition of the questions facing the Republican Party:

Should the Republicans build on a base of traditional conservative base while embracing moderates and centrists?

Or...

Should the Republicans join the extremists, racists and frankly paranoid in a goose-step toward electoral oblivion?

Tough call.

Doing what is right/correct will never be easy.

I understood this to mean that the guy who runs the antisemitic site has one subscriber - the guy from Ron Paul. But following comment #64 I understand the opposite is true. The guy running the antisemitic site subscribes to the Ron Paul site. There is a BIG difference. I think what Charles meant to write is the (or should have written) is "his only subscription is to" rather than "the only subscriber is".
Please correct e if I'm wrong. I've never thought much about youtube subscriptions.

I would guess it's Murdoch himself doing this. It's about money and always has been. If flaming liberalism was hot, you'd see Olbermann or a clone on Fox in 10 seconds. Right now Fox is killing their competition in the ratings. The top 5 or 6 cable news shows are all on FOX. As long as it sells, they will continue. Glenn Beck is bringing home the bacon for the the News Corp and he will be there until he does not. Fox, in general, has always catered to the lowest common denominator.....it's about money, not ideology.

All three for different reasons.

They love Ron Paul because he makes ALL Republicans look like kooks

They love McCain as a candidate because he is a horrible campaigner and virtually guaranteed Obama would win

And, they love Colin Powell because they can roll him out to show how out of touch the Republicans are.

I don't agree with that.

My understanding is pretty much that Arabs are people who are descended from the tribes of Arabia. Most Arabs are Muslims, but there are also Arab Christians, Jews, and atheists.

"Israeli" refers to a nationality. There are Israelis of many races and many religions.

"Jew" is a harder word to define, because it can be a racial or a religious designation.

There is a definitive difference between Assyrian-Arabs and those descending from the Arabian peninsula. Assyrian-Arabs do have a lot of similarities to the Jewish people who've inhabited those lands. On the other hand Arabs from the Arabian peninsula are very different in appearance and even genetic make-up.

There are also Arabs across North Africa. When the Arab empire burst out of Arabia in the 7th & 8th centuries, the Arab armies and colonists bred with the local populations. Arabs in North Africa include Berber genes, as well as the pre-Islamic peoples of Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Somali, and lots of Negro African & etc. Arabs are not a genetically homogeneous people . The group is more cultural and linguistic than racially defined.

I (a white guy) am closer genetically to the average black guy, than I am the average white guy.

There is more genetic variation within a "race" than there is between races.

There are quite a few more races than that, and a great deal of debate as to what the various races are and how to define them.

Let em argue. The genetic differences are minuscule. Racism is ridiculously absurd and only for small minded turds.

"Race" is largely a man made fabrication anyway.

I disagree. If you are willing to accept that races are "fuzzy sets", a few major races definitely do exist.

Put me next to Thomas Sowell (a man whom I happen to admire) and you'll see immediately we belong to two different races. On the other hand, I can think of fellow Ashkenazi Jews that, if you put them next to very light-skinned Asian women, the distinction might be much less obvious.

But denying the distinction between class X and class Y simply because comparatively few elements are 100% member of X or Y is a special case of the "continuum fallacy" (claiming that differences of degree can never be differences of kind).

What I mean is this. For a very long time the word race has been used to describe people. And, race had been used to describe what are cultural differences. These days "race" seems to be used nly to describe skin color and maybe some physical attributes.

What makes us all, different races, disimilar, is just that, skin color and maybe some other differences in appearence. Differences in appearence amount to nothing. If the egg is brown or white it is still an egg.

Race is unimportant to the point that drawing distinctions between people based on their races is ultimately silliness.

Even the two groups you mention are only distinct because of the isolation they had until recently to genetic mixing.

You may disagree but I don't see any racial differences, just bred true genetic characteristics. Until recently most people didn't breed outside their little local groups.

Interestingly, the Nazis based their hatred of the Jews, and the other groups like gypsies & Slavs, on notions of "race" not religion. The Jews were singled out for "polluting the German blood", not as "Christ killers". Disgustingly, the Nazis dressed up their racial arguments in pseudo-scientific arguments about breeding, race and eugenics. It was all scientific nonsense, but it did attract the so-called progressive modern people in Germany to the party.

re: #217 buzzsawmonkey

Rgr that. I said largely because of all of the periphreal crap that has been added to the 'meaning' of term 'race'. If by race someone means the visible and minor insignificant gene differences, then we can agree on the definition. If other things are added to the meaning then the whole word falls flat, loses all meaning.

But that is the point. A race is nothing more than a local gene pool. If it is isolated long enough, the population will develop particular characteristics which can define that race. Genetically, there will be a preponderance of certain genes or haplotypes. Of course, they will all still be homo sapiens. The genetic differences are never so great percentage wise.

It is my opinion (very scary when I say that) that Jewish means a specific culture. I know it refers to a religion also. But I see Jewish culture as a culture of excellence. And I believe Jews have been mistreated for so long simply because of envy and jealousy. Less successful cultures cannot bare it that this small group of people can be so smart and so dedicated to living life right and staying focused on what is important in this world. So when their less successful culture begins to fail and the lcal small group of Jews continue to stay strong and focused they, the failing culture turns on the Jews out of jealousy and envy.

re: #197 FurryOldGuyJeans

That's the biological definition of a 'race' as distinct from a 'species'. In fact, a gray wolf and your neighbor's Pekinese are, biologically speaking, members of the same species (canis lupus familiaris). A Chihuahua may have some trouble mounting a Great Dane (ahem), but the two are genetically similar enough that you can artificially inseminate the GD with chihuahua semen and get healthy dogs who themselves are capable of reproduction.

Does that mean that the difference between a Jack Russell Terrier and a Rottweiler is only a social construct? My JRT seems to think so, as she picks fights with every big dog she sees :-)

As for your caring about a person's character rather than his/her race (the MLK Dream), no argument there, obviously.

I had never heard of Glenn Beck until he got so much play here (I had him mixed up with Art Bell). I watched bits of a couple of shows and agreed with everything he had to say. I guess maybe I caught him on his more lucid segments but nothing he said about the financial crisis and the limits of governmental power would have seemed extreme to our founding fathers... or even our fathers for that matter. His delivery was hokey but he was right on the issues which is all that really matters. We just picked a president based solely on style and we are paying the price for it now. Heck, our great-great-great grandchildren will be paying for it.

BTW, one of my buds moved to France a few years back and she says you can't believe a damn thing that is in the news over there. CNN International is of course a joke and the government owns or otherwise co-opts the other news outlets. There is absolutely no tradition of freedom of speech like there is in the US. It would be interesting to see how the blog phenomenon is doing in various parts of Europe.

re: #231 FurryOldGuyJeans

I understand that the very word "race" has a lot of ugly baggage. The only point I am trying to make is that there are genetic variations which accumulate in some so-called races more than in others. These genetic differences are not "man-made". Humans are not homogeneous (thank God). The scientific study of the human genetics is a fascinating subject, in which the concept of "race" is of minimal significance.

"Racism" on the other hand, is indeed an artificial and non-scientific categorization of human beings based upon hatred and ignorance.

237 justdanny  Mon, May 25, 2009 1:41:50pm

How about embrace moderate positions instead of one of the 2 extremes? Moderates in both parties are sick of the ultra left/right crap.

I agree with you, on this. The problem with the GOP enhancing moderation is that, over at least the past two decades, it has methodically sandblasted itself of moderate voters and of moderate campaign issues. What's left is topics such as abortion and religion on which there is no "middle ground." They've prospered by that "sword," but now it's turned against them.

Ok Ron Paul is nuts.

He is Dennis Kucinich nuts.

But his economic ideas are not nuts. They may not be entirely correct -- because economics tries to explain the actions of human beings with free will -- but there is certainly scholarly thinking behind those ideas. They are the ideas of Mises, Hayek, Bohm, and the Austrian School. Don't denigrate those ideas unless you are prepared to make another case against them.
