Given the heated rhetoric spewed regarding this I think the Onion is doing accurate reporting, not parody.

I still remember when the supermarket tabloid Enquirer(?) was doing real news by revealing Edwards' cheating.

Mubarak snubbed Obama

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will not be among 3,000 people to attend U.S. President Barack Obama’s historic speech shortly after noon Thursday, a possible bad omen for the American leader trying to win respect in the Muslim world.

The official reason for his absence is the death of his 12-year-old grandson, but the child died in mid-May after health complications. Mubarak’s eldest son Jamal will stand in for his father, according to the independent Egyptian daily al-Masry al-Youm. Jamal is viewed as the future heir to take over as president of Egypt.

Probably not, as Gojira is apparently completely asexual. After all, every time you kill it, it reappears a few months later, fully intact, and distinctly annoyed. Sort of like Great Cthulhu.

Old G-Fan joke;

Q; What happens when you hit Godzilla with an A-bomb?

A; It reappears five hours later, radioactive and seriously pissed.

Buck, conservatives are always seen by the left as some sort of myth or stereotype. That is part of who they are, it is always what someone is, never who.

Laughing at yourself a bit and rising above it all is part of who we are..It is also the best weapon to fire back with...you just so rarely see liberals doing this.

Geithner faces sluggish market, rents out NY home
Treasury secretary grapples with sluggish market -- for his own suburban NY home
[Link: finance.yahoo.com...]

Geithner put his five-bedroom Tudor near leafy Larchmont on the market for $1.635 million in February, after heading to Washington for his job as the nation's top economic official.

A few weeks after the asking price was dropped to $1.575 million, the home was rented for $7,500 a month

A bit early to go OT in this thread, but I'll do it anyway.

One statesmanlike gesture deserves another. Obama should have his daughter Malia sign the next billion-dollar check for aid to Egypt.

For HoosierHoops

Psalm 84:5-7

Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the dry Baca Valley,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.

They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion

Each day, as you visit your memories of your friend and the grief they invoke, they will be replaced, slowly and surely, by memories of joy and laughter, the good times you shared.

I'm not sure, but I do recall Rodan's performance art piece, when he attacked the residents of coastal France, covered them with ketchup and pickles and ate them: "The Burgers of Calais [burp]".

Can you believe I actually thought of this before the Onion?

Well... not exactly to make a video of it. But, I do know that "pre-op" transsexuals can get their legal identities changed before they go under the knife... i.e. a Driver's license that says "female".

So if the gay couple is really so insistent that civil unions are insufficient, and they don't want to do the lawyer thing to write a will and so forth, one of them could declare themselves transsexual, get the license changed, and marry. They could "skip" all the stuff like dressing full time as the opposite sex, get hormone treatment, and all the rest. Why not? I've seen transsexuals do that...

Um, maybe that's enough.

Sounds a bit like the singer from INXS. Micheal Hutchence

The INXS album, Elegantly Wasted, was released in April 1997. Hutchence and INXS went on a world tour. The final leg of the tour was to be in Australia in November and December. However, on the morning of November 22, 1997, Hutchence, aged 37, was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Double Bay, Sydney (now the Stamford Plaza). A belt found at the scene suggested that he had died by hanging.

The Coroner of New South Wales determined that Hutchence's death was the result of suicide, but analysis of the witness statements in the Coroner's report, the lack of a suicide note and other anecdotal evidence, such as the fact that Hutchence was found nude, has led some - including Hutchence's brother and other close relatives - to suggest that the death may have resulted from autoerotic asphyxiation.[3]

I'm not disagreeing that there are better beaches and better locals than SC. I have been to Barbados and St Maarten (just to name 2)

One of the three most breathtakingly perfect beaches I've ever seen was Trunk Bay (I think?) on St. Thomas.

The other two were on Fernando de Noronha, Brazil (last reported radio contact of that Air France plane went down).

Did you write the script for Dog Day Afternoon?
