Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will not be among 3,000 people to attend U.S. President Barack Obama’s historic speech shortly after noon Thursday, a possible bad omen for the American leader trying to win respect in the Muslim world.
The official reason for his absence is the death of his 12-year-old grandson, but the child died in mid-May after health complications. Mubarak’s eldest son Jamal will stand in for his father, according to the independent Egyptian daily al-Masry al-Youm. Jamal is viewed as the future heir to take over as president of Egypt.
If Godzilla tied the knot with Gamara, would that be an example of Gamarriage?
Probably not, as Gojira is apparently completely asexual. After all, every time you kill it, it reappears a few months later, fully intact, and distinctly annoyed. Sort of like Great Cthulhu.
Old G-Fan joke;
Q; What happens when you hit Godzilla with an A-bomb?
A; It reappears five hours later, radioactive and seriously pissed.
I don't know how the Onion peeps can pull off these broadcasts with a straight face, even after rehearsing them. They're pretty doggone funny.
Actually, lately they're more credible than most news sources. The crackpots they dream up pale in comparison to some of the living and breathing figures in the public eye right now.
He's not completely asexual--he's just had trouble finding a mate, and he's so annoyed and destructive because he's trying to work off his sexual frustration. Poor guy--even eMonsterHarmony dot com didn't help.
He even tried Craigslist:
MGM (male green monster) looking for FM, any color, for egg laying.
I don't know; I just don't get the Onion sense of humor. Yes, I can suppose it's funny, but it doesn't make me laugh. I never get through half the stuff I see there.
re: #49 Buck
Buck, conservatives are always seen by the left as some sort of myth or stereotype. That is part of who they are, it is always what someone is, never who.
Laughing at yourself a bit and rising above it all is part of who we are..It is also the best weapon to fire back with...you just so rarely see liberals doing this.
Geithner faces sluggish market, rents out NY home
Treasury secretary grapples with sluggish market -- for his own suburban NY home
[Link: finance.yahoo.com...]
Geithner put his five-bedroom Tudor near leafy Larchmont on the market for $1.635 million in February, after heading to Washington for his job as the nation's top economic official.
A few weeks after the asking price was dropped to $1.575 million, the home was rented for $7,500 a month
Put aside the irony of Geithners roll in the housing market problem
My man!
Go Magic...oh but don't forget the Dream team..No team in the world could have beat them..EVAH!
LOL
reminds me when some foreign guy made a jumpshot over Barkley...on their way up the floor Barkley threw an elbow and knocked him on his ass...after the game Charles posed for pictures with that player and his kids...heh...the highlight of his entire career...those guys were a dream team eh?
We will suspend your medical licence to practice surgery, if you are determined to suspend a penis between a patient's legs...
OT, how you doing Hoops (((Hoops)))
Thank you so much..I'm doing fine today.. I have no more tears left today..
We take the loss
We cry for a close friend
We bury them
Then we go back to living
We never forget them
What would the sculpture be titled?
"The Stalking of Gamarraiage by Rodan"?
I'm not sure, but I do recall Rodan's performance art piece, when he attacked the residents of coastal France, covered them with ketchup and pickles and ate them: "The Burgers of Calais [burp]".

One statesmanlike gesture deserves another. Obama should have his daughter Malia sign the next billion-dollar check for aid to Egypt.
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the dry Baca Valley,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion
Each day, as you visit your memories of your friend and the grief they invoke, they will be replaced, slowly and surely, by memories of joy and laughter, the good times you shared.

That sounds pretty savage. Did Rodan eat those "Burgers of Calais" with avid gusto?
Still not the point. I'm sure there are houses he could OWN in that location for $7,500 a month!
When we rented a Beach house in Oceanside last year...It was much more that 7500 a month.. We looked at some wicked places that cost 10k a week.
Check out Beachhouse.com for some serious cash to rent places.

Now, come to think of it, Rodin's "Burghers of Calais" sculture depicts said Burgers with ropes voluntarily placed around their necks... which brings us back to the David Carridine story, doesn't it?

www.vrbo.com also. Short term rentals worldwide. I have a condo on Pawleys Island South Carolina. Houses right on the beach there fetch upward of 10K a week
Can you believe I actually thought of this before the Onion?
Well... not exactly to make a video of it. But, I do know that "pre-op" transsexuals can get their legal identities changed before they go under the knife... i.e. a Driver's license that says "female".
So if the gay couple is really so insistent that civil unions are insufficient, and they don't want to do the lawyer thing to write a will and so forth, one of them could declare themselves transsexual, get the license changed, and marry. They could "skip" all the stuff like dressing full time as the opposite sex, get hormone treatment, and all the rest. Why not? I've seen transsexuals do that...

spreading the wealth...I find that sort of ironic because I would rate SC beaches in the middle of a scale at best...air fair plus rent will cop you a much cooler place in the Caribbean

The INXS album, Elegantly Wasted, was released in April 1997. Hutchence and INXS went on a world tour. The final leg of the tour was to be in Australia in November and December. However, on the morning of November 22, 1997, Hutchence, aged 37, was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Double Bay, Sydney (now the Stamford Plaza). A belt found at the scene suggested that he had died by hanging.
The Coroner of New South Wales determined that Hutchence's death was the result of suicide, but analysis of the witness statements in the Coroner's report, the lack of a suicide note and other anecdotal evidence, such as the fact that Hutchence was found nude, has led some - including Hutchence's brother and other close relatives - to suggest that the death may have resulted from autoerotic asphyxiation.[3]

Building coding in Larchmont is stringent. Pulte and/ or Horton wouldn't get a permit there
A few big home building companies tried their luck on the central coast of Cal, couldn't hack it here due to tight code enforcement and watch dog agency that precludes using illegal workers.

The area south of Myrtle Beach (Murrels inlet south to Pawleys Island) is exceptional, starting at about Huntington Beach State Park

upper $$$ communities across the country tend to be that way!

The northern Outer Banks of NC have the biggest brand new beach houses for rent. I've looked all over the country and these are the biggest by a long shot. Some of them fetch close to 20 grand per week during peak season. I've vacationed down there 6 out of the last 9 summers.
Hello (((Hoops))),
I so hope that Lizardia is of any help in your 'climbing of the mountain'. I have been thinking a lot about you in the last few days and wish you all thats best for the feelings you're having at the moment.
If you need help or anything within my limited means, go ahead my nic is blue.

been down along there...don't get me wrong, it's pretty nice but pales in comparison to Jamaica for beaches or ambiance...or prices
I'm not disagreeing that there are better beaches and better locals than SC. I have been to Barbados and St Maarten (just to name 2) ,,AMAZING. But my wife and kid can't go there for the entire summer vacation with me there for 3 days at a stretch as well as 3 weeks a summer,,, AND Thanksgivings and some Christmases and long weekends while my 14 y/o is in school!

At the point of your loss is when you find yourself in the dry baca valley, a place of desolation. It is from there you go from strength to strength, turning the memory of desolation into springs of fond memories. Hope this helps.
the Seahawks blocked a sure field goal by a very good 13-3 Cowboys team two years ago...shit happens
Especially to the Cowboys. This year, fans will be able to watch them blow it on the giant new video screens, that stretch from one 20-yard line to the other.

accessibility counts for a whole lot, and I hope you enjoy your time there...the vibe is all that counts in the end

I was gonna post about that place...I was over there last year watching it being built...what a beast!...I'm going back for the Texas Shoot out or another preseason game...regular season may be out of the question for the tourisits this season...one hell of a building
Wouldn't it be great to own a sports team? You could be like Cuban and do whatever you want? Or Jerry Jones...Hey boys..I just hired ocho cinco ..you better win now! I'd mess with their heads...I'd date the Romo's girlfriend..Stuff like that...:)
Hey steve!

Man, the place is huge. For only seating 80,000, it's enormous. One of June's nieces just graduated from UT-Arlington, and you can see the stadium from the apartments she lived in. BIG.
OR ... lol ... ha ha ... the love for Brazil didn't have anything to do with Brazilian Babes did it? ...
Actually, in this case, it's really the beaches. They're astonishingly unpopulated, in fact, of babes, or non-babes alike. Plus, I was there for my honeymoon, so babe-ogling would not have been terribly gentlemanly.

Yes, it is quite the site. I was next door back in Feb. for two days.

OR is so wrong *wink*
I worked at Pearl Harbor for 3 years...
EVERY SINGLE WEEK.. The most beautiful women in the world fly in to lay on the Beaches of Hawaii.. Brazil doesn't come close..( I'm in trouble)
/Don't Taz me bro'!

there is a very sizable apt complex (fairly new) about 50 yrds away on a side street...the stadium LOOMS over their heads...the building is tucked into a very dense and congested area...they will have monumental problems with access and parking...
Can you believe I actually thought of this before the Onion?

Depends on the beach. On the most famous ones (Copacabana, Ipanema), no. But the Brazilian "tanga" thong bikini is practically more naked than naked, anyway.

Yeah, starting this weekend, with the concert. Some routes into the stadium are still being widened/improved. June's niece graduated just in time.

No. I'm thinking that, tomorrow, I'll try to make some plans. Right now, I'm operating off alarm bells, not information.
ummm..ummm
oh did I tell you story about the time I went to a gay beach on a Sunday and played Volleyball all day? I started catching on after about an hour...But fuck it..These dudes are good..It was like in Top Gun when Tom couldn't leave the game to go see Kelly Macginnes...
Anytime you can have the time of your life playing Volleyball on a beach in Hawaii.. You go for it...
/See how I dodged the topless question?
Are you kidding? The Euros are just as insane about soccer as the Latins.
Maybe more so.. To see Man U get their ass kicked last week by Spain was as Delicious as seeing the undefeated Patriots lose to the Giants on a freak play in the Superbowl...
