Dunno about the rest of you, but after Waxman Markey passage I need a drink.
I'll listen while I pour

Think everyone is still listening to ' music to barf by', after the reaming we just got from the Congress.
Maybe this will help.

I prefer performance videos...not too much into this artsy fartsy stuff

Nice lyrics. I like the way she shapes her notes too. Its good to hear real musicians who have some training doing this kind of stuff.

Best line:

"Its like...using your headphones to drown out your mind."

I swear all the teenagers I know are afraid of their own thoughts.

She is very interesting looking though, physically. Pretty, certainly, but in an unconventional way.

Waxman-Markey passed the House, but still needs to get through the Senate.

I really liked that one. Reminded me a bit of Tori Amos, but she's definitely got her own style.

Not so sure about that. They do, however, think you and I are.

And thanks for the music Charles, she is a very interesting artist. I think I am buying in.

We can only hope that it fails.

Regina is a nice Jewish girl. I really appreciate her modesty. She will go far, this magnificent daughter of Israel.

I still like Begin To Hope better but her songs have a habit of growing on me the more I listen to them. Im surprised she already has like 3 videos made for this new release.

She has a really cool voice. At first I thought she has a slight speech impediment but she's just Russian....

Regina Spektor (Cyrillic: Регина Ильинична Спектор; born February 18, 1980) is a Soviet-born American singer-songwriter and pianist.

Repost from the dead end of the last Regina Spektor thread:

NPR had a nice interview with her yesterday. You can listen (or read it) here.

Posted on another site by one of the ladies there ... I'm still ROTFLMAO

Ladies (and gents), this was on my MB today, and I totally cracked up!

I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week. Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office to tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am. I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45 AM.

The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare. As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort.

So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in that area to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.

I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I undressed, hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away.

I was a little surprised when the doctor said, 'My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?'

I didn't respond. After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal ... Some shopping, cleaning, cooking. After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, 'Mommy, where's my washcloth?'

I told her to get another one from the cupboard.

She replied, 'No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it.'

Never going back to that doctor. Ever.

They passed it an never even read it. Americans don't know what was in the bill. And the f**kers have the gall to pass it. Oh and it's necessary for Sanford to resign but it was ok to let a President stay in office after admiting he was getting BJ's in oval office. I need a very large drink...oh and how's those poor people doin in Iran...can't find out because it is all Michael Jackson reportage. (Don't misunderstand, I was one of his biggest fans) But our government is out of control and too many Americans are not aware.

Ms Spektor is stunning, and her voice is quite moving.

She reminds me a little of Lily Tomlin's Ernestine character:

...except that the user interface to Ernestine's device didn't have an "eet" key.

She likes to use her vocals to make a lot of funky noises. Most fans would probably be into something like this.

I thought that too, although without the angry edge.

But what in the world is that thing she's banging on?

Looks like a steno machine.

Regardless, she's amazing, great album.

I find her to be very Suzanne Vega. I love Suzanne Vega.

I don't remember the movie well enough, but this video reminded me of "Like Water for Chocolate" I think, with the never-ending crocheted scarf echoed in the never-ending paper out of the funky typewriter. Also the 40's styling.

I didn't think either Tori Amos or Suzanne Vega. . .I heard Alanis Morissette in her voice, altho I agree, Regina is her own style.
