Safari 4’s Developer Tools Rock

Technology • Views: 4,421

Apple’s recently-released Safari 4 web browser features a major update to its developers’ tools, and if you have anything to do with designing websites you’ll find some of these new abilities very handy. You can inspect the HTML structure of the page and alter CSS properties on the fly, profile the page load to see where you can improve things, and — best of all for Javascript programmers — it includes an excellent Javascript debugger that gives Firefox’s Firebug a run for its money. Here’s a more detailed introduction to the new tools: Review of Safari 4’s Fresh Developer Tools.

I might even try to use it except I bet it still inserts unwanted apple text formatting commands when you cut and paste, why I stopped using it in the first place.

LOL I used Netscape 4.5 until about four years ago. Actually one of the lizards told me that Netscape was a Mozilla product.

There isn’t a thread for it so I’m just gonna post here that there’s been a military coup in Honduras.

Now I’m getting hate mail for saying “nobody wants to see a Republican naked.”

It’s a JOKE. It’s supposed to evoke that nuanced emotion we call HUMOR.

Sheesh.

How in the world could anyone not get that it was humor? Do certain people dislike you so much that their brains cease to operate?

Earlier today, I enjoyed a thread at a place called thinkprogresswatch, where this was posted under the nic “Rodan”:

Rodan Says:

ALICE,
Look at the damage we did to LGF. Eric Odom has nothing to do with LGF2.0. Look at our posts over there. We have a team of Admins. Once we finish off Charles Johnson Think Progress is next. Look at how many people we have at LGF2.0
Just imagine if we turn our energies on Think Progress. LGF used to be a top b;og, now we have nearly 40% of their former readers.

Why don’t you go and post at LGF2.), scared of debate coward?

I have to believe that people do what they do because they believe their efforts will result in some sort of productive good.

It is stunning to me that a person would dedicate so much time, energy and resources to “doing damage” to various blogs as if that somehow contributes to the greater good of anything.

What a waste.

I’m gonna stick with Firefox.

40 Nemesis6  Sun, Jun 28, 2009 7:45:50pm

I’ll alternate between Google Chrome and Firefox. I would change completely to Chrome if it had proper support for extensions like Adblock.

41 spudly  Sun, Jun 28, 2009 8:02:03pm

I like Safari 4 so far except that it’s quite unstable. I’ve had to restart Safari at least a half a dozen times in the last few weeks. That’s more than I’ve had all other apps crash combined in a few years, lol. (I’m only running 10.4 though).

42 dapperdave  Sun, Jun 28, 2009 8:50:03pm

Does this thing run on linux?

43 anand  Sun, Jun 28, 2009 8:57:08pm

woo hoo..I guess…

As long as it’s clean and has a preponderace to computing freely, hellz yeah bitches!

45 saxking20  Mon, Jun 29, 2009 2:39:53am

Safari 4.01 is FAST! I like it a lot. Has never crashed for me-running OS 10.5.7. The jukebox deal on the websites is cool.

Now that Bookmarks are saved to the cloud, I won’t use any other browser except in logging on to a site that is an exclusive IE site. Those are few and far between but some still exist in the Florida government sites.

46 davesax  Mon, Jun 29, 2009 8:29:27am

Hey saxking:

You a sax player, too?

I’m getting my VI overhauled this week!

Yeah!
