Mark Sanford’s back in the headlines, now admitting to having “crossed lines” with women in the past, though maintaining that it was only with Maria Chapur that he “crossed the ultimate line.” But perhaps even more unsavory than his latest revelation is Sanford’s reasoning for not resigning the governorship, which he’s been disseminating on his Twitter page this week:

Immediately after all this unfolded last week I had thought I would resign — as I believe in the military model of leadership and when trust of any form is broken one lays down the sword. A long list of close friends have suggested otherwise - that for God to really work in my life I shouldn’t be getting off so lightly. While it would be personally easier to exit stage left, their point has been that my larger sin was the sin of pride. They contended that in many instances I may well have held the right position on limited government, spending or taxes — but that if my spirit wasn’t right in the presentation of those ideas to people in the General Assembly, or elsewhere, I could elicit the response that I had at many times indeed gotten from other state leaders.

In other words, he’s willing to stay on, against his own impulses, because he believes it’s God’s way of punishing him for committing adultery? Either Sanford’s speechwriters are having an off-week, or this man has actually deluded himself into believing that the governorship is more about Mark Sanford’s personal life than about the interests of South Carolina voters.

The drivel actually gets worse, as Sanford goes on to appoint himself reformed poster boy for family values:

Accordingly, [these friends] suggested that there was a very different life script that would be lived and learned by our boys, and thousands like them, if this story simply ended with scandal and then the end of office — versus a fall from grace and then renewal and rebuilding and growth in its aftermath.

How lucky for the thousands of Americans who will benefit from Sanford’s brave decision to remain governor.

Needless to say, these are the sorts of factors Sanford should have considered before last week’s Appalachian vacation by way of Buenos Aires. This kind of talk surely reflects the worst kind of narcissism among politicians. It’s not hard to see how a man with this sort of ego could’ve found himself embroiled in extramarital affairs.

The units you can buy for you car are receive only. To do the tracking it also has to transmit, that takes more power, bigger batteries, antennas etc...

Unfortunately his deliberate act is public, his life is public,
so he almost has to "recover" in public. It is devastating for his
family. His marriage is not irreconcilable. I have known men

Thank you - not sure about how tough I am, but I did choose the MOST agressive thereapy available to me, despite having some Oncologsts (both in NYC and down here in N.C.) tell me that I'd be in pain, fatigued and other jazz by taking it, I really wasn't ready to go, so to speak.
So the last four years have been difficult, but I'm still here, still kicking and somehow the pain isn't quite so severe today.
And I was serious about Charles and LGF. I only mentioned my cancer at first because a Cancer Counselor told me that a lot of people are embarrassed or afraid to talk about their terminal illnesses and I figured what the heck, if I talk about mine and that helps just one other person talk about his or hers, then I've done some good. Well there have been a surprising (to me) number of people who also have cancers of varying types, and other "terminal" illnesses who've talked about 'em out here and who've e-mailed me - it DOES HELP A LOT to be able to "talk" to someone about it all...takes away some of the loneliness, you know?

Whoa, early stage? That's good news - well, considering that you have it at all. Mine was discovered when my PSA level was 1100 and the tumor had broken through the sack; y'all need to get with a urologist and an Oncologist - there's a more recent surgical technique than the Davinci Robotic method and it's a ONE DAY stay at the hospital and has had incredible results - something like 95% success rate - but DO NOT WAIT my friend.

Brother, you'll never be lonely here. LGF is a special place. I have plenty of people in my life. Beautiful wife, kids, friends, co-workers. I am blessed. But I still come here almost every day. And it should be obvious why. The mindset of this community is incredible. People from all over the US and the world. Rightminded folks who care about much more than just themselves. We all owe Charles a great debt of gratitude. And our good vibe towards each other is a great emotional lift for all of us. But I guess I don't need to tell YOU that!

From all his statements, which have been too many, it is clear to see that Gov. Sanford has clear relationship boundary issues and he is very unhappy within himself in general.
For the sake of his position, he is digging himself a deeper hole of incredibility with every moral confession he makes.

There are no legal laws that prevent him from having sex with another outside his marriage.
He needs to become a born-again Governor! and stop making these ridiculous media releases about his lust life.

I guess the days of requiring a level of the highest personal integrity as a character requirement to fill a public office, are long gone.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that male urge to procreate is stronger than the female. Or that sex is something that men enjoy but women endure.

He obviously has more boundary issues than whats been exposed with this relationship. I hope he finds a good therapist fast that will also show him some other healthy ways to cope, other than digging.
