Parnell will have a much clearer shot at keeping the office in Palinite hands for another four (or possibly eight) years. Sarah Palin did not give up on her reforms today - she institutionalized them, Now, they will not leave office with her, but rather continue under Gov. Parnell.

Incoming IAEA chief: No evidence Iran seeking nuclear weapons
The incoming head of the United Nation's nuclear watchdog said on Friday he did not see any hard evidence that Iran was trying to gain the ability to develop nuclear weapons.
"I don't see any evidence in IAEA official documents about this," Japan's Yukiya Amano told Reuters in his first direct comment on Iran's nuclear program since his election to head the International Atomic Energy Agency, when asked whether he believed Iran was seeking a nuclear weapons capability.
Current IAEA head Mohammed ElBaradei told the BBC last month it was his "gut feeling" that Iran was seeking the ability to produce nuclear arms, if it desired, as an "insurance policy" against perceived threats from neighboring countries or the United States.
Advertisement"I'm not going to be a 'soft' director general or a 'tough' director general," Amano told Reuters, when asked how he would approach issues like Iran and Syria, which are both subject to IAEA probes.
Earlier Friday, IAEA members unanimously designated Amano as the organization's next director general, ending a rift between developing and industrialized countries over his nomination.
With the official confirmation of his election on Thursday, the Japanese diplomat is now set to assume his post in December, succeeding Mohammed ElBaradei, who retires as director general after 12 years in office.
Amano, Japan's ambassador to the United Nations in Vienna, narrowly won a run-off vote against South African diplomat Abdul Samad Minty.
Developing countries backing Minty had for several months blocked Amano's election.
But on Friday, developing countries grouped in the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 issued statements expressing their support for Amano, 62, who is seen as closely aligned with the United States.
Minty congratulated Amano, and offered his country's support, saying that "our future objective is to assist in fostering a cooperative spirit and to focus on what unites us, namely; creating a better life for all free from the threat of the use of nuclear weapons."
Meanwhile, the Japanese government put high hopes in the next IAEA leader.
"We hope that Amano will tackle the nuclear issues in the areas of non-proliferation and disarmament," top government spokesman Takeo Kawamura said in Tokyo.

Up until today, the iphone games site never looked right on the iphone. You would log on, and the index appeared too small. About 15 minutes of work with Dashcode, and it now comes up correctly.
Now that the design is taken care of, I'm thinking of spicing up the memory tests (and possibly the lessons later on), by adding graphics and animation to them. Some of them, like the card memory lessons, would really be helped by this.

So amazing. Believe it or not, that's partly why I love watching wrestling. The CEO/Owner of World Wrestling Entertainment, Vince McMahon, is such a proud and direct American, he has tributes constantly throughout the year. I love it.
They do a show IN Iraq in front of the troops every year during Christmas-time. They also provide free admission to any member of the miltary for their events.

Good morning lizards! Happy Independence Day! Ever since I was very little, this was my second favorite holiday (after Christmas, of course). I grew up in a small town where the day started with baby parades, decorated bikes and floats and then a big parade. There were barbacues and then at night, games for the kids (peanut scamble!) and then fireworks. It always seemed like magic. Not many towns do that anymore.

Wow this one takes the cake. Have a set of guests that rented 2 rooms last night put their 87 year old grandfather alone. Now they are ready to leave he's still alseep with his door deadbolted with the security bar in place and they are upset I can't get them into the room because grandpa uses 2 hearing aids and has a resperatory condition and may have stopped breathing. I asked her wasn't anyone sleeping in the room with him and the Reply is "Why would we?" I feel bad that he has his condition and if he passed last night I will also feel bad but they put him alone in a room and he barricaded himself in so how is it my fault they can't get to him.

The Fourth of July. What does it mean nowadays?
Is it just an excuse to travel? Is it a family-oriented holiday? Is it a day to sit and relax? Is it a day to sit and relax with a beer in one hand and a hot dog in another?
The Fourth of July is all this and much more. Why? It is the day of our declaration of independence from England. The day we stood up to King George and his cronies and said “Shove it, we’re done with this.” The day we officially said “Enough is Enough.”
And so, on that day in 1776, a new nation was born. A nation where literally anything is possible. A nation that would be born out of the blood, sweat, and tears of the war to come. It was a fight for freedom, away from under the cruel oppression of the English. Out of this war, we revolutionized the world. Thirteen original colonies now turned into the United States of America, laying the foundation for the Constitution of the United States to be written and accepted just a few short years later. In that Constitution, our forefathers guaranteed those unalienable, God-given rights to us that were described in the Declaration; Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
For centuries now, America has stood as the model. People suffering on other lands picked up everything, sacrificed everything, in hopes to come here and make a new beginning. They came here in search of something greater, and by the grace of God, so many have been able to reap the benefits of the freedoms and the opportunities that we are BLESSED to have. My family came to the United States in the late 1970s, and for this, I could not be more grateful to them. They left their families behind in hopes to create a better life for their children. They wanted to come and live the “American Dream”, and you know what? They’ve done it. They built themselves up despite not knowing anyone and barely knowing the language. They are the ultimate success story, and so many share this story. So many who do not have the privilege of living here also enjoy this dream, and if by some chance they are able to escape whatever region they want to leave from, they too have the same opportunities to make those dreams a reality.
You see, this is America. The sacrifices made by those before us have allowed us to live here and enjoy what we have every day. I look around and I see too many people take what they have for granted. We are the last bastion of freedom, and we must fight to preserve it. Our way of life can crumble just as it has been built up. The Fourth of July is a day to reflect on our country’s past, present, and future. We must remember our past, and remember where we came from, so that we do everything possible to preserve our blessings. Our country was born out of the will to be different than those that preceded us.
I personally could not imagine living anywhere else, because what I have here is unparalleled. The greatness of America is undeniable. Today IS a day to sit back and relax. Today IS a day to be with family. Today IS a day to celebrate all that we have, and all that those that came before us have done to afford us these privileges. Today is the day to recognize that other countries and peoples are often not as blessed as ours to enjoy what we are able to enjoy on a daily basis.

Was going to email you. Got the biopsies back on The Fat Beagle yesterday. As expected, it is inflammatory bowel disease, mostly in the small intestine and the cell types they found show it is the most common form of the illness - good, because vets have more experience with it. Initial treatment starts with a steroid and I'm going to meet with their nutritionist/holistic guy to talk about a low-residue, hypoallergenic diet.

FYI and all. My response time is back to normal between me and LGF. I don't know what caused the slow down over the last 3 days, or why it stopped.
It seems like it was a Western United States+Comcast+LGF problem, as those are the 3 variable that seemed to pop up with other Lizards who had the same problem.
Around midnight last night, I sent a Visual Tract Route chart to Charles showing my "hops." Maybe he saw something in that chart.
Maybe it was all Comcasts problem and maybe it's something they have been trying to correct for a few days.
I don't know.

Good morning.
I had an interesting conversation yesterday with a relative of mine who is a true lefty, an Obama worshipper, and a capitalist when it comes to her money but a socialist when it comes to yours.
This relative early retired a couple years ago and has been doing a lot of traveling and some part time work here and there but noting consistent. Anyway, she tells me yesterday that she is trying to get back into full time work cause she wants health insurance. Then she says, "I hope Obama does something (referring to health insurance) but I'm not going to wait on that."
That's when it struck me, some of those on the left actually think health insurance can be "free" for them, as if the government can bestow it upon them like manna from heaven, if they just vote the right people in. That is why, I believe, you keep hearing them use the phrase "single payer system", in that they think they can get a health care set up where somebody else pays the bills for them. Some actually don't think that they pay a price in higher taxes, lower productivity, fewer job opportunities, lower health care quality and the like.
Where do they think the government gets the money?
Part 2 of this scenario involves Obama's statements about raising taxes only on those who make more than $250,000 a year. This creates for the socialist the assumption that they can get something for no cost to themselves, they can vote to have the money confiscated from somebody else. All that remains is to demonize that "somebody else" so you can then justify punishing them by confiscating their assets to then pay for goodies for the voting base.
I now expect to see a lot more class warfare before the Obama administration gets done.

i think i'll opt for roof top viewing. once i got such a ring side seat, that when i got home, i was covered w/ soot and grime and had a few burn hole in my blouse from falling debris. LOL

this evening I will drive up into the lower slopes of the Sandia's in my favorite park...not too far up...find a spot to sit and look down and across the valley to the west mesa, 20 miles away...Rio Ranch to the north along the valley to Las Lunas in the south is about 40 miles....millions of orange and white twinkling lights and fireworks up and down the entire valley...it is quite a sight to see...you cannot hear them but the silent explosions have a uniqueness too....New Mexicans are wildly patriotic...it's a different way to celebrate

I would agree that this is a colossal waste of time on the part of the Tea Party hangers-on, or whoever is trying to organize it. It also has huge potential to backfire, badly.
Trying to cast it as an assault on free speech, though - not so much. Those organizing the protest are exercising their own free speech rights. The Constitution guarantees that anyone can say pretty much whatever they want; it doesn't provide any guarantee that other people have to like it. Speech often has consequences. Anyone is free to voice their views - and be prepared for the resulting criticism that may follow. Letterman remains free to say whatever he please, to anyone who will listen, even if he loses his show; another thing the Constitution doesn't guarantee is a podium.

We are implementing a completely new and unparalleled strategy in Afganistan. It is so new and innovative that the AP described it this way:
The offensive will test the Obama administration's new strategy of holding territory and letting the Afghan government sink roots in Helmand province. The insurgency has proven particularly resilient in this area, where foreign troops have never before operated in such large numbers.President Barack Obama told The Associated Press in an interview Thursday that he has a "very narrow definition of success when it comes to our national security interests" in the region. "And that is that al-Qaida and its affiliates cannot set up safe havens from which to attack Americans."
This idea - the idea of clearing an area, holding it, and denying the enemy a base of operations - is unprecedented in all of history. Certainly my predecessor was not intelligent enough to think up such a strategy, let alone bold enough to enact it.
The AP goes on further to describe this clear headed strategy that could have only come about by bringing Hope and Change to Washington so that Hope and Change could come to Afghanistan:
An immediate goal, the military says, is to clear away insurgents before the nation's Aug. 20 presidential election. Southern Afghanistan is a Taliban stronghold but also a region where Afghan President Hamid Karzai is seeking votes from fellow Pashtun tribesmen. Without such a large Marine assault, the Afghan government would likely not be able to set up voting booths to which citizens could safely travel.The Pentagon is deploying 21,000 additional troops to Afghanistan in time for the elections and expects the total number of U.S. forces there to reach 68,000 by year's end. Clearly, this bold idea of bringing in additional troops in a sort of "surge" to secure the country so that elections can be held is something that needed to happen. She's under constant attack because she's a easy target. To be honest, many on the left don't understand her appeal, and treat her as a joke because she has not performed well on the national stage.

And my girlfriend, her daughter and I will be watching the Golden fireworks from the glass enclosed lobby of my theatre, Miners Alley Playhouse. The second floor lobby and lounge looks out southwest to Lookout Mountain, and is a perfect bug free, air conditioned viewing platform.
Sort of like your own personal fireworks Sky Box.

My "new" car has a CD player that can handle MP3 format. I know there's MP3 music on the web, but that about exhausts my tech savvy in that field. Can anyone tell me how to put it on a CD for the car? Considering how complicated tech stuff has gotten, I'm guessing it's more than just saving a file to my CD drive.
Nope, if the CD player can play MP3, just copy what ever MP3 files you want to a CD and you're good to go.

She announced she wasn't running for reelction and then said she was stepping down rather than be a lame duck, talk about politics not as usual. It could be a big step toward national office. But nobody said it would mean a mainstream network comedy host doing statutory rape gags about your 14-year old daughter. You've got a special-needs kid and a son in Iraq and a daughter who's given you your first grandchild in less than ideal circumstances. That would be enough for most of us. But the special-needs kid and the daughter and most everyone else you love are a national joke, and the PC enforcers are entirely cool with it.
Most of those who sneer at Sarah Palin have no desire to live her life. But why not try to - what's the word? - "empathize"? If you like Wasilla and hunting and snowmachining and moose stew and politics, is the last worth giving up everything else in the hopes that one day David Letterman and Maureen Dowd might decide Trig and Bristol and the rest are sufficiently non-risible to enable you to prosper in their world? And, putting aside the odds, would you really like to be the person you'd have to turn into under that scenario?
National office will dwindle down to the unhealthily singleminded (Clinton, Obama), the timeserving emirs of Incumbistan (Biden, McCain) and dynastic heirs (Bush). Our loss.

went to the final day of trials once...lots of people! whoa!....never saw the race itself...another time I took the little bus around the track...that was a delight...looking down the front straightaway like a tunnel...press towers and whatever on the inside and the stands looming on the outside...so narrow!...yikes!

Er ... how? Is it a simple save-to-CD-drive, or do I need a special "burn" program, or what? I'm an old DOS dinosaur, I don't know all this new-fangled stuff!
There have to be people on this forum that know more than I do about this but I'll give it a shot:
You obviously need a CD burner in your computer. If you have one of those you can download the iTunes program for free from Apple. Right click on the mp3 file you want to burn and choose "Open With" and select "iTunes". This should start playing the file within iTunes.
Now hit the plus button at the lower left corner of the iTunes window which will "Create a Playlist". Name it whatever you want. Then go back to the top of the left column and select "Music" which will bring up your iTunes library again. Drag and click the mp3 file from within iTunes to the Playlist you just created and named.
Now insert a blank CD. Click on the playlist and there will be a "Burn CD" button at the bottom right of your screen. There will be a couple of menus that pop that you can just keep as the defaults that come up.
You should then have a CD that will play in your car of the mp3 file. Hopefully this makes sense.

I love the GTA games. This past one was good but I was hoping for more. One thing that annoyed me the most is that Niko talks about wanting money in every cut scene but money in the game itself was useless. The cell phone was a coll addition but it quickly got annoying. When I'm beating hookers with a baseball bat the last thing I want is someone nagging me to go bowling. They also softened the game a bit, and the rags to riches theme is getting a little predictable. I'd really like to see them give up the Scarface type story line and go for a more Clockwork Orange theme.

He used the speech to sell the Democrat's nationalized health care and the recent Waxmann climate/pork bill. At times it almost reached bitter and divisive proportions:

I am not a doctor, but I play one at Press Conferences.
For some time I have been puzzled by the chronic fist-clenching that afflicts the leaders or Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
This persistent fist clenching is not rational given my many overtures to these leaders. So I know the behavior cannot be willful - it must be the result of a physical malady. I now have a diagnosis - Advanced Stage Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Because this fist clenching is a medical issue, I am going to be blocking any efforts at the upcoming G8 to impose any new sanctions on Iran. Such sanctions would further impact their health care system rendering it incapable of treating this fist-clenching and thereby threatening world peace.

Thanks! I've got that printed out. Now is a "CD burner" whatever it is that lets me simply save things to the CD drive? I've done that a few times, so if "burn" here is a synonym for "save", I'm OK. Otherwise I guess I need some sort of new gadget -- ?

The Clockwork Orange reference reminds me of GTA2 back in '99. Would love to see that sort of atmosphere in full-3D, and not just in custom car mods for the existing PC versions.
I also think maybe a Fight Club style thing would work well too. It would also make the game a little more contemporary. Every one plays the game by just running down pedestrians and random violence and chaos anyways. The story lines should match. We'll probably have to wait 2-3 years before the next one comes out. I hope they do better next time.

Lance was quoted this morning as saying his form going in is better than a couple of years he won. He said definitely better than 2003 but not as good 2001 or 2004. He said it should be interesting.

In this manner, we have attracted thousands of independents, Republicans and moderate Democrats. As a start, as well as a sign of how far the Modern Whig movement has come, our organization currently is actively supporting two candidates running for office on the Whig ticket.

His party controls the Senate now, to the point where they have (just) enough votes to break even a filibuster; yet the future of key Administration proposals is somewhere between uncertain and bleak. It looks, for example, as though cap & trade will crash and burn in the Senate - and Harry isn't going to be able to blame the Republicans for "throwing up roadblocks" or "being opposed to progress" or any of the other well-worn excuses he's trotted out in recent years. When C&T fails, it's going to be all on Harry as Majority Leader to explain why he wasn't able to hold his own party together. There is a real possibility that Harry may lose his Leadership position in the near future.
From here on out, absolutely everything that goes wrong is the Democrat's fault. Period. End of story. I've got nothing to do but sit back, eat popcorn and blame the Democrats for everything until about this time next year, when the midterm election season starts moving into high gear. And by then, Conservatives will have a boatload of failures to point fingers at.

We're skipping the local Tea Party with Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (who does the voice-over on this cool Republican ad) as the opening speaker, followed by keynote speaker, Herman Cain. (We Georgians missed the memo about White Supremacists running the Tea Parties.)
However, Tea Party aside I'm flying the Gadsden "Don't Tread On Me" adder under Old Glory today.

Yep. They bought it in 2006, 2008 and for the time being. Sometimes I wonder how much of his public support is due to "peer pressure" or the desire to "fit in." Another thing being that it's "politically incorrect" to oppose el presidente at least according to the MSM.

Incoming IAEA chief: No evidence Iran seeking nuclear weapons
The incoming head of the United Nation's nuclear watchdog said on Friday he did not see any hard evidence that Iran was trying to gain the ability to develop nuclear weapons.
"I don't see any evidence in IAEA official documents about this," Japan's Yukiya Amano told Reuters in his first direct comment on Iran's nuclear program since his election to head the International Atomic Energy Agency, when asked whether he believed Iran was seeking a nuclear weapons capability.

But those were all exaggerated! No doubt somebody growing up in that area would inevitably come into contact with people like those...but to say they influenced him that much is just simply that! Exaggeration!

I don't think he's failing. He's on his way to destroying free-market capitalism through his economic policies and the Cap and Trade bill which is just another economic tool disguised as concern for the environment.

People vote their pocketbooks before they vote anything else. Right now, we've got unemployment continuing to climb; a housing market that has eroded home values by about half; a climbing number of foreclosures dumping even more bargain-priced homes onto the market, making housing prices even worse; deficit spending at unprecedented, terrifying levels; and all signs pointing to things continuing to worsen on all fronts for a disturbingly long time.
It's 0's economy now, and blame is going to start settling on the White House like turds on a cow pasture straight away. If a recovery doesn't show signs of forming within the next two to three months, the fallout will leave a permanent stain on 0's reputation that no subsequent recovery will ever quite erase.
And it appears the 0's plan is to ignore the economy and let it continue to scrape bottom at least through October. Why? Because when people are out of work and in fear of losing their jobs, it makes passage of government-run health care much easier, and also makes all manner of new government programs and powers - like mortgage rewriting, control of fuel and car prices, manipulation of energy supplies - much more sellable to a public increasingly in fear of losing their jobs, homes and savings. 0 has said he wants most of these things resolved by fall, so don't look for any meaningful action to right the economy before that. It's in his best interest to keep it in the tank.
Of course, the longer things drag on, the longer it will take to recover. By the time that happens, of course, we'll be forking over a huge chunk of our compensation to the government to help pay off deficits, which will throw a wet blanket on spending and prolong the recession even further.
Why do you think that, of the $1 trillion plus that was specifically allocated for economic stimulus last winter, less than 10% has been funneled into the economy at large? Recovery doesn't help 0, and that money is much more useful to him and his fellow Democrats if it's spent just prior to the midterms, and especially just before the 2012 election cycle. It's a gigantic, government-funded slush fund that is entirely partisan.
