I don't think that it is overstating that Obama & some members of his Administration have an interesting relationship with Islam.
His first impulse in Iran was to defend the clerics rather than the opposition.
I think the WH strategy is to bring them into enlightenment by embracing them and showing them the error of their ways. I'm bettin' it ain't gonna work.

Before everybody gets too carried away let's remember a little history here; Bush sent the Secretary of State. At least Obama only sent a low level outreach stooge... From State Dept., Advice for Muslim Convention
American Muslims met with Under Secretary of State Karen P. Hughes on Friday at an Islamic convention here to offer advice and assistance as she began an initiative to improve the flagging image of the United States among Muslims overseas.
...
Ms. Hughes met separately with leaders of Muslim organizations, young people and a delegation from England that was among an estimated 40,000 here for the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America. The society is an umbrella group of mosques and Islamic centers in the United States and Canada.
"It's all talk right now and unclear what the concrete steps are," Rubina Khan, treasurer of the Muslim Students Association, said. "But if we can form a relationship with anybody in the administration who has that power, then obviously we should try."
Some Muslim leaders who met Ms. Hughes said they were gratified to be consulted and impressed with her willingness to listen. A few said she seemed unaware of how fearful many American Muslims had become of government surveillance and intrusions on their civil liberties.
While many panels featured criticism of U.S. policy and law enforcement, one stood out for its hate-filled rhetoric, and ISNA officials should have seen it coming a mile away. During a "meet the authors" session, Imam Warith Deen Umar, former head of the New York state prison chaplain program managed to:
Argue that key Obama aides are "Israeli," proving Jews "have control of the world."
Malign the motives of Jews active in the Civil Rights movement.
Portray the Holocaust as punishment of Jews for being "serially disobedient to Allah."
Insinuate that Hurricane Katrina was a result of tolerance for homosexuality.
These people haven't changed. At All.
Sunshine ain't gonna change 'em.
I presume ISNA was thoroughly vetted...the BO administration is creativing a soft environment for jihadis world wide, except for meddling with the Taliban of course...no good will come from this...I give up
The muslims ought to be scared shitless. I mean there's a zillion of them at last count. Well, if da Jooos are running EVERYTHING, there must be 10 zillion of them around.
This is "Mainstream" Islam? Kinda their version of a gathering of Methodists? It seems they have more in common with Fred Phelps. I am glad POTUS seeks dialogue, they clearly are just misunderstood.
The muslims ought to be scared shitless. I mean there's a zillion of them at last count. Well, if da Jooos are running EVERYTHING, there must be 10 zillion of them around.
Antisemitic conspiracies and hate speech were at the ISNA Convention — along with Barack Obama’s Senior Advisor for Public Engagement and International Affairs, Valerie Jarrett:...
I HOPE EVERYONE WHO REFUSED TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN BECAUSE HE WASN'T CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH IS FUCKING HAPPY NOW!
In her remarks, Senior Advisor for Public Engagement and International Affairs Valerie Jarrett noted she was the first White House official to address ISNA. She spoke in general terms about interfaith dialogue and cooperation. She praised her hosts for "the diversity of American organizations, and ideas that are represented and will be debated" at the convention.
And yes, the ideas that were represented and debated were what you would expect, including the idea that Obama's top advisers are "Israelites" and therefore Jews rule the world.
/the Obama lovers just can't let go, kind of like Palin
stole my post...anyway there is only one reason agents of the federal govt should attend this conference and that is intel...padding the database...I'm sure they could find some monetary connection to the big green Hez if they tried...pandering is not protecting American citizens...regardless of which administration does it
Mark Sanford should be breathing a sigh of relief that his mistress was Brazilian, and not one of those moderate muslim women like Steve McNair's, who put her own spin on the honor killing thing...
Before everybody gets too carried away let's remember a little history here; Bush sent the Secretary of State. At least Obama only sent a low level outreach stooge... From State Dept., Advice for Muslim Convention
That is incorrect and a tenuous characterization at best:
4. The Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement position is not subject to the nomination process and congressional approval. She is White House staff member and a part of the White House Office of Public Engagement.
The differences are distinct and Valerie Jarrett is an executive member of the White House staff.
no, it's just given the wrong sort of attention, just like recently in Iran...any time a group or an individual proposes that Israelis are racist mongers...everytime the arey accused of genocide and other crimes, the feds should denounce them resoundingly...they don't and that makes our policy complicit with that of the Palis, the Mullahs, Hez and all the rest
A top aide to President Barack Obama provided a keynote address at last weekend's 46th Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) national convention, a gathering that attracted thousands of people and also featured anti-Semitic, homophobic rhetoric and defense of the terrorist group Hezbollah.
Ms. Hughes met separately with leaders of Muslim organizations, young people and a delegation from England that was among an estimated 40,000 here for the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America. The society is an umbrella group of mosques and Islamic centers in the United States and Canada.
There is a big difference between an undersecretary meeting separately and a senior White House advisor giving a keynote speech.
how many times have I heard Islamists whine -- "But, mawhw, they do it too!" Reminds me of balling two-year-olds...(really drives me up the wall...I think every adult should realize that saying "He does it too!" is just another means to disavow any and all responsibility, and simply point the finger at someone else...)
Treasury officials said the program could buy up to $40 billion in distressed assets initially. That's far below the potential $1 trillion in assets that the government originally hoped to take off the banks' books through purchases of soured securities and a separate program that would have dealt with bad loans.
The program's goals have been scaled back partly because many banks' financial situations have improved in recent weeks, reducing their need to sell the troubled securities.
One large reason why the bank's financial conditions have improved is the change to mark to market valuation. No longer do they have to value applicable assets at spot market prices.
Another big reason is they are borrowing money at very little cost from the Fed's.
Harris pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel to a single count of wire fraud for a November 2008 phone conversation about appointing Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to the seat being vacated by Obama's election as president.
In his plea agreement, Harris outlined a scheme under which Blagojevich would get a job as head of a union-sponsored organization, Change to Win, in exchange for giving Jarrett the Senate seat. Officials of the Service Employees International Union were to broker the scheme had it gone forward. It did not.
Jarrett, now a White House adviser, was not mentioned by name in the plea agreement but has been identified in the past as the Senate Candidate B who was to get the seat under the plan. Jarrett eventually took her name out of contention for the seat and has been accused of no wrongdoing in the case.
Right, she EVENTUALLY removed her name from the running but this was AFTER everything blew up in their faces.
He (Umar) has a website promoting a past book, Judaiology, which features an excerpt describing "the inordinacy of Jewish power." Jews, he wrote, are "an amazing people who can steal you blind as you watch. If you discover the theft, they can put you to sleep. If you wake up to them, they can put you back to sleep with mind games, tricks of fancy, smoke screens, and magic. Henry Ford almost uncovered them."
Speaking of hollering, "He does it, too!" Jeanne Moos on CNN did a clip comparing the fly-swatting capabilities of Obama vs. Ahmadinejad. lol It was no contest (clip also included Ahmadinejad zipping up his fly..) It was hilarious...
there must be at least 10% in the middle there...if they would have spent one our looking at him he would have easily been defeated...Americans don't like commies
what's up bud?
Hope today finds you well...Sleeping yet?
Hey 2H. No, I am still not sleeping. Went and bought new pillows today, maybe that will work. Other than that I went to go and see a few rental units today and am going in a few minutes to see another one. Once I find a house for my family I will feel a lot better.
'Course, Henry Ford distributed copies of his antisemitic screed The International Jew through his Ford dealerships all through the Twenties--in, among other places, Germany. It may well have helped lay the groundwork for Hitler's antisemitic rantings. Hitler was a great admirer of Ford, so much so that he adopted Ford's assembly-line techniques to the production of death.
A former top aide to Rod Blagojevich pleaded guilty today to wire fraud, admitting he discussed having his then boss appoint an adviser to President Obama to the U.S. Senate in exchange for financial benefits for the ex-governor.
The 26-page plea deal details various conversations that allegedly took place between Blagojevich and his former chief of staff, John Harris, concerning who would fill Obama’s open seat.
Harris’ plea deal also reveals a new allegation against the ex-governor concerning an unidentified “Senate Candidate D,” who last year allegedly plotted to turn over money from the candidate’s own campaign fund to Blagojevich in exchange for the appointment.
Sun-Times Washington Bureau Chief Lynn Sweet reports on her blog that Attorney General Lisa Madigan will not run for a U.S. Senate seat--despite wooing by President Obama, Rahm Emanuel, Valerie Jarrett, Dick Durbin and the Democratic Senate political operation based in Washington.
She will not run for governor. Instead, Madigan is announcing Wednesday afternoon that she is running for another term as Illinois Attorney General.
A "Candidate D" gets caught up in the investigation, and then Amy Madigan stops running for the two offices she's been chasing for six months and says she loves her job.

re: #478 Killian Bundy .../A Muslim 4th of July: "Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness"
Either you forgot a sarcasm tag, or you're unaware of the many connections between that event's sponsors (ISNA and MSA) and terrorism.
Indeed. I clicked that link, and went on to the event's link, with the hope that I'd see moderate Islam adapting to Western modernity.
No mention of patriotism. No mention of separation between state and church (or temple, mosque, sacred grove, etc). No mention of the right of individuals to practice the faith of their choice (or none).
I continue to hope for a moderate Islam that is compatible with democratic pluralism. However, hopes are not outcomes. I wonder if practitioners of taqqiya say 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' in the same sense that they say 'religion of peace'.
I've never seen the end of Independence day...Maybe half way...Better than sleeping pills

Sure, Ron Paul is the sponsor of the bill. You forgot to mention that there are also 249 co-sponsors and includes a great deal of Democrats. If HA is being a "shill" then the 249 co-sponsors are also "shilling" for this act: H.R. 1207 Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.
The video in question is also regarding parliamentary procedures and congressional hackery on the part of the Democratic leadership. It pays particular focus on Rule 16 and barely touches on HR 1207.
With 249 co-sponsors however one has to wonder what the motivation is behind the opposition to this bill.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 32% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –5.
The number who strongly disapprove inched up another point to the highest level measured to date and the overall Approval Index is at the lowest level yet for Obama (see trends).
In the wake of last week’s disappointing report on job loss, consumer confidence has fallen to the lowest level in two months. The Rasmussen Investor Index shows investor confidence falling to the lowest level in three months. The number of investors who say the economy is getting worse jumped from 43% before the jobs report to 51% today.
I'd steal Denzel's Cell phone and call every single number on it... Then pitch it in the river...

Yeah, but RP is a sponsor so that automatically make this very suspect.
A guy at my office has always been very hostile towards me. Weirdly so. Often snide remarks about my religion (Jewish). Anyway, he went. I didn't know about this at the time, but he told his friends he went down to DC for a "thing" last weekend. I aint surprised.

Because it's a very bad idea to bog down the Fed with bureaucratic red tape from congress. They often have to act quickly to avert crises and there's not time to hold meetings, debates and votes in congress before they take action. Also, giving control of our monetary policy to Congress is just about the worst idea possible.
Also the Fed does operate with a certain amount of secrecy to avoid panic in the markets and insider trading. Giving congress access to this information is a recipe for disaster.
Either way, even if the legislation passes it will surely be vetoed. Even Obama is not stupid enough to let this go through.
Well, in alGore's eyes I'm a climate Nazi, so there is some nice symmetry at work here.
Me, too. I got gang-trounced here one evening as a "denier", which of course is just like "Holocaust denier", as they helpfully pointed out while stuffing words in my mouth and avoiding the fact that I used "anthropogenic" in my climate change skepticism.
Hey real, sorry I did not get back to you today. I was real busy at work.

A woman in the audience reminded Umar that Jews marched with Black people during the Civil Rights movement. But, Umar said, that was not motivated by a genuine desire for justice:
"The Jews in America used the black community to advance the Jewish community. In many instances in history, they gained much of what they gained by putting the African Americans out front to get things that were necessary to get through the politics of this country and of the social setting of this country."
An appropriate follow-up question would have been, "What the fuck did you just say?"
Ah Geez, FOGJ! I put that up in the spinoff links to the first new thread of the day, but Obama's Internet Campaign Manager avanti already shot it down cause, ya know, Rasmussen ONLY polls likely voters. And we all know votes in the graveyard won't answer their phones
A mezuzah is a piece of parchment (often contained in a decorative case) inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). These verses comprise the Jewish prayer "Shema Yisrael", beginning with the phrase: "Listen, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One."
A mezuzah is affixed to the doorframe of Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah ...

Why would a CAO audit bog down the activity of the Federal Reserve?
Doesn't the Constitution allow this type of audit on the Federal Reserve?
Does the Federal Reserve reserve the right to conduct themselves outside of congressional oversight? If so is this right codified under US law? Does it go against the Powers of Congress?
Someone might want to look into whether an impostor took President Obama's place during his trip to Russia
In a release touting an agreement between Obama and President Dmitry Medvedev over how to craft a follow-up to the START arms reduction treaty, the White House claimed the document had been signed by one "Barak Obama."
A mezuzah is a small scroll containing Torah verses which is placed on the doorpost. You may have seen the small cases which contain the scroll. They are placed on the door in observance of the Biblical commandment that "you shall write these words on the doorposts of your house, and upon your gates, that your days may be multiplied."
I'm thinking a digital picture monitor in a few years that will constantly display
the Torah verses in a scrolling fashion that you could mount in your entrance way...like those digital pictures frames...

One of my nephews became a Dad today, healthy bouncing baby boy. We were all together for a cook out Sunday night in Chicago, and I noticed that about every 10 minutes or so his wife would take a big breath and sweat would appear on her forehead (this is their first). Being a Dad 3 times I recognized that sign, brouight it to their attention, so they immediately took her home. She went on like that for two days and they did a C-section this morning (baby was breach).

"Nobody is happy" with the way the economy has progressed, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said Wednesday.
"It is bad right now," Solis told the Fox Business Network of the state of the economy. "Nobody is happy, and the president and I feel very strongly that we have to do everything we can to create jobs."
Still, Solis refused to predict when the economy might recover from its doldrums.
Gee, can't predict when the recovery might start, but so sure throwing billions more will help. What a bunch of clueless [self-deleted] we have in charge.

According the Paulian interpretation the Fed is unconstitutional. Ron Paul makes no secret about the fact that his long range plan is to abolish the Fed so we can go back to the gold standard for currency. This is his first step to bog down the Fed, harass it with audits until it fails.
Not just flawed, intrinsically wrong, so have to be ignored if possible and vilified if mentioned.

President Obama's trip to Russia has produced little more than a "pile of manure," the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee said Wednesday.
Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.) said that Obama had failed to raise a number of important issues with Russian leaders during meetings there in the first half of this week.
"President Obama, as far as I know, hasn't raised any of those questions — like including cybersecurity, including sanctions on North Korea and Iran," Bond said during a conference with Missouri reporters. "I'm still digging through the manure pile to see if there's a pony in it, but I haven't seen any coming out of the meetings with [Prime Minister] Vladimir Putin and [President Dimitry] Medvedev yet."

Well, I wouldn't support an audit with the intent to harass the Fed nor to cause it to fail. Additionally, I wouldn't support it to revert to a gold standard.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
To borrow money on the credit of the United States;
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;
Now since it says that congress "shall" have the power it can also be argued that they are also able to "contract" out this power to their choosing which I believe they did in 1933? Is it right for them to transfer this responsibility of congress to other Federal agencies?

Well, I wouldn't support an audit with the intent to harass the Fed nor to cause it to fail
Nor would I. But an honest audit periodically just to see exactly where things stand as compared to different points of time vis a vis inflation/ market/ GDP indicies would be fine with me
Yes, I know you can find passages to support the idea but you have to ask if it's so clear then why can't you go to the Supreme Court and get a decision? There have been challenges to the Feds authority before but it's not really a clear cut Constitutional issue. That's why congress has to pass legislation to get the authority to audit the Fed. If it was just a simple Constitutional issue they could just go to the court and wouldn't have to worry about the inevitable veto.

Odd, we allow intelligence oversights by congress. Nancy Pelosi can be briefed by the CIA and other agencies yet the Federal Reserve is off limits?
What did Pelosi know and when did she know it? That's for her to know and for you to never find out:
The last time the CIA and Nancy Pelosi were in the news together, the House Speaker was accusing the agency of lying about its briefings to Congress on the interrogation of al Qaeda detainees. This week, the Speaker's fellow Democrats are set to block public disclosure of what Ms. Pelosi was really told and when.
Democrats recently marked up the 2010 intelligence bill, and Republican Pete Hoekstra offered an amendment in committee to require the CIA to make public an unclassified version of its records on Congressional briefings. It also would have required the CIA to disclose the information gleaned from those interrogations.
Democrats have spent years demanding a "truth commission" into interrogations, so you'd think such public disclosure would be welcome. Ah, that was when a different guy was in the White House and before Mrs. Pelosi had made her own veracity an issue. Suddenly, she's all for secrecy.
Now that really is bad, referring to the US Constitution. Re-education for you!
/ and no soup!
"Um, excuse me, I - I think you forgot my bread."
"Bread, two dollars extra."
"Two dollars? But everyone in front of me got free bread."
"You want bread?"
"Yes, please."
"Three dollars!"
"What?"
"No soup for you!"

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) may have been elected eight months ago but he's low-man on the Senate totem poll.
Franken, who was sworn into office on Tuesday after a long legal battle, ranks last when it comes to Senate seniority.
A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) office confirmed Franken's position.
"Franken's service begins on the date on which he is sworn. So regardless of state size, etc, he cannot jump over members who were sworn on Jan. 6th," Reid spokesman Jim Manley said in an email. "So Mr. Franken is Number 100 and is last in seniority for all members and, of course last, for Democrats too."
Search youtube for Bernake. I'm not sure if there's a set schedule for his appearances. It seems to be every month or two. He shows up and answers questions.
LOL

Nancy Pelosi can be briefed by the CIA and other agencies yet the Federal Reserve is off limits?
They get briefed by the Fed all the time now.
The Fed Chairman answers to the President and nobody else. The Board of Governors at the Fed answer to the Chairman and nobody else. That is the way it needs to be if we do not want Monetary Policy to become a political football. Trust me on this. Great lengths have been taken over the years to keep the Fed out of politics.
You can use the treat of audit to "clean house" unless politics gets played. You will lose the high quality of professionals that you have at the Fed and will replace them with political hacks if this gets done.
We recently reported that Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Tex.) had introduced a resolution to honor Michael Jackson. (Oddly enough, the legislation was referred to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.)
The full text of that resolution has been published, and it's….long.
The legislation lists Jackson's accomplishments in endless detail, from his #1 hits to the details of his charity work. At the conclusion, the legislation resolves that Congress

OK, I'll have to read up more on this to get a clearer picture. It's not a particular interest of mine.
All Greek to me. For those who don't know, shachrit is morning prayers, tefilin is like a mezuzah for head and (right-usually) arm, that you put on for shachrit.
Exsqueeze me, r u sirius?
I guess I'm a Ronbot on this one.
99% of the time, and in finance 99.44%, secrecy, sux. 99.999% of what is "secret" is theft and incompetence. And no, the remaining 0.001% does not pay for the rest.
And an audit is not a takeover, or Price Waterhouse would be the secret masters of the planet.
Tefillin are also sometimes referred to as "phylacteries." They are little black boxes with black leather straps.
I did a google image search for "tefillin" and one of the first pictures to come up was some feminist photoshop of "Rosie the Riveter" with tefillin wrapped around her arm. Why do feminists want to get in the face of religious Jews like that? What benefit does a feminist expect to get out of putting on tefillin?
Rivka Holtzberg never put of tefillin, tell me what makes these feminist soo much more religious than Rivka Holtzberg.
US President Barack Obama's talks with Pope Benedict XVI will be "frank" but constructive in areas of disagreement such as abortion, the White House said Wednesday.
"I think there will be a frank discussion," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said aboard Air Force One en route to Italy where Obama is attending the Group of Eight summit that opened Wednesday.
Obama and the pope are to meet Friday after the summit.
I really can't relate to any of this at all...musically or socially...from what I've seen it is a shallow, misguided example of the Black American experience...
I love watching the videos from the Gulf Coast the day before the hurricane hits. Everyone at Home Depot buying plywood
The hurricanes hit every year. SCUSE ME , why didn't you save the plywood from LAST year?
Not only that, they decide to get bottled water the day before it hits. And if you even try to get a sub at Subway you'll be waiting about 25 minutes because people forget how to cook. People, I have learned, are stupid.
I just had a long meeting with an MK of long standing on the right who told me a little of what was going on.
Apparently, Netanyahu came away from his meeting with Obama, a changed man, a shell of his former self.
Imagine if you will being ordered by the Mob at a Casino to come into the back room due to your “independence”. You see on entering some heavy set men around a table on which there is a hammer, a saw, razor blades, a vise, acid and a number of other persuaders. Well you get the idea of what Netanyahu’s meeting was like.
The gloves came off and the Obama administration put their tools on the table.
1. withdrawal of support at the UN.
2. preventing Israel from using their GPS which is needed to guide Israeli missles, planes and tanks.
3. cancellation of 3 billion in annual grants.
4. barring Israel from using American ammunition stored on Israeli soil,
5. avoiding resupply should Israel run out of munitions.
6. initiating sanctions and other drastic measures at the UN.
7. withdrawal of guarantees
8. full US support of the Saudi Plan
9. Israel to give up Jerusalem and the “illegal settlements” around it.
I can’t even imagine all the tools that were put on the table.
Obama means business. Every other arena in foreign affairs is getting more and more problematic with no good result in sight. Only by crunching little Israel could Obama hoped to have a foreign affairs success. He set a goal of solving the Palestinian conflict within two years. Just when his campaign for re-election would be beginning.
Netanyahu left the meeting thoroughly chastened. He rushed over to his old friends in Congress only to find out they backed Obama. He careened over to his friends at AIPAC and other Jewish organizations only to find that they still supported Obama. It was surprising that Netanyahu could make it back to Israel on his own.
Netanyahu is doing his best to salvage the situation and buy for time.
The clashes in Congress on Wednesday over the possibility of a further US fiscal stimulus highlight the political damage Barack Obama’s administration is suffering as unemployment climbs towards 10 per cent in spite of the current $787bn package.
Senior administration officials think further stimulus might eventually be needed but they do not want to have this fight now. Both the economics and the politics call for postponing a decision to late this year or early in 2010.
imagine if this was the kind of real substantive ethics issues that sarah palin was involved in. she'd be in jail.
o gets away w/ murder.
Indeed. Or even if the politicians involved had been Republicans instead of Democrats. Being that they are Democrats they get a free ride from the MSM. Being that they're also Obamanauts they get extra special care from the liberal media machine.
I don't want 'frank' talks. I expect the Pope to kick his everlovin ass and I think that could well happen.
Charm the Pope? They agree to disagree and move on? I think not. The Pope is charged with defending doctrine and Church values is he not?
I suspect Obama will be disappointed at the Vatican just as he was in Moscow with the lack of obeisance. What a worry this must be to one who simply expects such things.
Oh well, still have the media to keep up his self esteem.
/This post is brought to you by one who is not Catholic, in fact it is by one who is religiously confused and, at best, agnostic. I do expect the Pope the make a clear moral statement on differences with this President, however.
I hope Gibbs "frank discussion" signpost proves to be a very big understatement.
One wonders how much further down the toilet this administration will be going.
It's less than 150 days, and it seems to be seeking new lows all the time.
None of this is a surprise. Any of our former allies, including Israel, who is counting on the U.S. will be shocked to discover that they can't count on the U.S. for any support whatsoever.
I HOPE EVERYONE WHO REFUSED TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN BECAUSE HE WASN'T CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH IS FUCKING HAPPY NOW!
Of course they're happy. They're expecting history to repeat itself in 2012 by the voters miraculously throwing the bums out. But history doesn't occur in set patterns.
We're talking about a pop singer and a private citizen. As such I have nothing against him. But the man was hardly Mother Teresa.
The fact that that ugly, psychopathic sack of offal from Minnesota was sworn in as a senator (I pray his political career ends with him being thrown in the slammer) and relatively stuff like this means only one thing:
The photograph was taken on September 16, 2007, at Senator Tom Harkin's annual steak fry festivities in Iowa, an important ritual for Democratic presidential hopefuls. Contrary to the e-mails attacking Obama for disrespecting the flag, the candidates were not reciting the pledge of allegiance. They were standing for the national anthem.
As far as we can ascertain, the photograph first appeared in Time Magazine on October 1. Visit Time's website for a larger version. It was then picked up by the NewsBusters blog (Motto: "Exposing and Combating Liberal Media Bias"), and from there made its way into all those in-boxes.
To his credit, the NewsBusters blogger does not try to pretend that the photograph had anything to do with the pledge of allegiance. Instead he cites Title 36 or the U.S. Code, which states the following:
During a rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed (A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart; (B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart;
By that standard, everybody in the picture (Obama, Richardson, Clinton, and Ruth Harkin) was infringing the Code, as they had their backs to the flag. On the other hand, the Code refers specifically to "Patriotic and National Observances." We welcome the opinion of protocol experts, but we are not sure that a steak fry qualifies as a "Patriotic Observance," even in Iowa. Since the steak fry was awash with flags, it is quite possible that the aforementioned political candidates were facing the flag and had their backs to the flag at the same time."
Just finished The Patriot. What impressed me most was the discussion of the PR tactics of terrorists. Whenever there is a problem, they rise up and scream racism - and then depend on our sense for political correctness to stop news coverage. This is obvious when we no longer call those who want to harm us what they are: fundamental terrorists. I am amazed that we've been told that the west is Satan - and that our destruction is the only way - and yet people refuse to believe the threats. Bullies in the playground are just like the bullies of the Middle East who want our destruction. Forget being PC. Time for a reality check.
I trust he is okay. Maybe on vacation and the Mrs. made him leave his laptop at home.
Hurry back.
Who is Yamit82, I ask: apparently an Israpundit regular. On another Israpundit post, he responded to another commenter named BlandOatmeal . Yamit82 ended his response as follows:
So Oat Fuck America, her president, and leadership that allowed this to happen and the Same with our Cowards and criminal leaders here. This missile test almost guarantees a potential Armageddon. A mini one at least and guess who mostly allowed it to become a reality? Bush! and his Black Ape Condi. Now there is a New Black Ape who can’t add 2+2 and get 4 He thinks it’s 2. Come to think about it, much like you.
I hold Obama, Bush and Rice in low regard. I am aghast at how far Iran has been allowed to advance. I consider myself a supporter of Israel.
However, if I come to believe that Yamit82's vile bigotry reflects Israeli opinion at large, I will conclude that Israel has discarded its moral claim and my support will end. It's easy to draw a conclusion about a site that allows comments like Yamit82's.
'04 Reminiscing...SEN. KERRY:If you take half the people at an Ohio State football game on Saturday afternoon and they were to have voted the other way, you and I would be having a discussion today about my State of the Union speech...
MR. RUSSERT: And the president will say if he had half the people at a high school basketball game in New Hampshire or Oregon, he would have carried those states because he lost them by 5,000 or 7,000.
