This thing is already starting to go viral. At least 15 links already before I gave up counting:

Doctor Bulldog & Ronin: Obama’s Science Czar Believes in Forced Abortions and Mass Sterilization
Pundit and Pundette: Horror stories
Unhyphenated American: John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar, says: Forced abortions and mass sterilization needed to save the...
And this guy's already got a Holdren Photoshop based on my post!:
“The BOPAC Report” & Larry Sinclair’s Allegations – ZachJonesIsHome: John Holdren – Science Czar BiCzar Ideas
(You know you've "arrived" when your post generates a Photoshop response within 3 hours of being posted.)
There are tons more (several appeared even while I was putting together this post), and I see that there are several "Twitter" tweets about it, but I weary, and the world beckons...
In any case, I think the "prairie fire" has started and I can let the blogosphere take it from here...

Believe me, I'm not going to be making any excuses for FR anytime soon, and especially not for THAT thread. It genuinely contained some of the most hateful speech I've seen on the internet. (or been exposed to anywhere, come to think of it)-- and I include Stormfront in that assessment.
I think Archangel Michael nailed it: the lunatics are running the asylum over there.
Kos has a diary up about it: apparently someone there wrote to FR, the FR mods pulled the thread, then FR reposted it along with the Kos email as a plea for fundraising (!), then they deleted it again. So even the owner over there doesn't even know what he's doing.
Here's the Kos story for those who are interested:
UPDATE III: Free Republic Pulls/Restores/Pulls Thread Bashing Malia Obama; FR Responds
I really cannot keep up with their indecision. The first time it was pulled pending review by the "Religion" moderator; now it is pulled pending review by the "Administration" or something like that.
Perhaps they cannot decide what they fear the most--being called out for having this kind of diatribe or caving in to what they perceive as liberal pressure by removing it.
Either way, it was there, these are their sentiments, and the sad thing is, most of them are now only decrying the thought of picking on a child and not complaining about the overt racism in these comments they have made.
The diary does quote some of the worst comments, but does not reproduce the photos and photoshops (thankfully).

I have seen TWO in my life that I am convinced were actual, real mental patients, and she is one. She panhandles away from the store, apparently sleeps outside (I see her bedroll and belongings tucked into various locations behind/near the strip center) and spends her income on cold drinks, etc., which she sips/eats quietly on a park bench near the entryway.

The same way anti-virus does it. Look for lines of code, keywords and certain values. You can filter for anything if you know what you are doing. They sell software to catch porn based on the pixel ratio for human skin tones and computing how much of the picture means exposed skin.

Golf dispute ends with injury, conviction
Published: July 10, 2009 at 4:03 PM
KENT, Wash., July 10 (UPI) -- A golf dispute in King County, Wash., led to one man receiving a debilitating head injury and another receiving a jail sentence, authorities say.
Prosecutors said the conflict between two golf foursomes at the Auburn Golf Course last July was based on the lead foursome playing too slowly for the foursome trailing behind them, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Thursday.

Chavez attacks US plan to solve Honduras coup
"How horrible to see a legitimate president receiving a usurper and giving him the same treatment," Chavez said, referring to Arias' Thursday night meeting with Roberto Micheletti, the Honduran congressional leader who was sworn in as president when the military threw Zelaya out of the country on June 28.
Chavez said Micheletti should have been arrested in Costa Rica and that the United States should be putting more pressure on Honduras to return Zelaya to power.
"Why haven't they recalled their ambassador to Honduras? Why haven't they imposed sanctions? Political sanctions? Economic sanctions?"
Chavez said he spoke to the top U.S. diplomat for the Americas, Thomas Shannon, by telephone for a half hour on Thursday to express his opinion on the matter.
"Do something," he said. "Obama, do something!"

Investigators said the DNA of Michael "Mikey Cigars" Coppola, 63, an alleged member of the Genovese crime family, matched hair strands found in the hat, which was found near the body of gunned-down mobster John "Johnny Coca Cola" Lardiere, the New York Post reported Friday.

LONDON (Reuters) - Fancy 80,000 dollars a year on a stress-free job with flexible working hours and no need to wear a suit?
Well, grab your black pointy hat, take out that rusty black hessian drape from the back of the wardrobe and refresh your memory on how to turn your grumpy neighbor into a mouse. Somerset tourist attraction Wookey Hole caves is advertising for a "witch" and has already received 100 applicants since the beginning of the week.

I know Chimeras are scary to a lot of people but it's not what we've been taught from science fiction movies. There's a decent primer here: Why are British scientists creating a human-pig hybrid?
This lack of public understanding of science explains polls like this: Scientific Achievements Less Prominent Than a Decade Ago
Also helps to explain why only 6% of scientists are Republicans.

As is typical, he refused to move in with me and stayed active until he passed in his sleep at 88. I want to go like he did, never spent a day in the hospital, and was seldom sick.

We hit a few strip clubs, and in one the stripper was so ugly that when she came over to me jostling for a tip, I said I would give her one if she put hey clothes back on, Needless to say, I didnt make a friend...

On Saturday, Barack Obama and his family will follow in the footsteps of countless African-Americans who have tried to reconnect with their past on these shores. Though Obama was not descended from slaves - his father was Kenyan - he will carry the legacy of the African-American experience with him as America's first black president.
He's descended from slave-owners on his mother's side.

When I lived in the ME I knew I'd gotten acclimated to the heat when I could walk from one building to the next and actually remember what the hell I'd come there for.
I've visited the Eritrean harbor town of Massawa at the Red Sea.
Climate
Massawa is noted for its high summer humidity and its mean annual temperature is one of the highest in the world.
I was there in late summer and it was literally breath taking. There you can experience almost the same night-time temperatures as in the day-time (shade). The Red Sea was the boon, great snorkeling.

I was softlines manager in the Covington, TN. Wal-Mart and this interesting looking lady came in looking for 'sexy underwear'.
Naturally, I told her that she was in the right place. When you want sexy you come to WallyWorld.
Turns out that she was a stripper at a club in Millington (Navy town. Aren't all Navy bases located in the middle of America?)
She laid a few free passes on me and invited me to bring my wife and the gang to her show.
Bad move. Before the night was out a young sailor laughed out loud at a...challenged...dancer. Made the dancers biker boyfriend mad. Fight started and I told the wife, "I don't really want to see my name in tomorrow's paper" so we low-crawled out.
Nasty floors. Really nasty.

First time I ever saw coral spawning was in my tank a few days (night actually) after I put in a few new pieces. Before that the tank was in Kuwait, but I sometimes went to Jeddah to dive and collect. One of my funniest moments was when my briefcase with a plastic bag and a moray eel, live, went through the xray scanner on my flight back to Kuwait. That's not what my degree is in, but that's the business I was in for 25 years.
One of the most expensive costs of any enterprise is its workforce. So I wonder why, exactly, do they think "HR" is "worthless"?

What can I say? I'm right there with you.
You want fries with that?
Yes I will have some fries please.
About your Pizza order, are you sure that you want anchovies on it?

If you're sure that the beer is cold, yes. Otherwise just put extra ground beef.

It probably has something to do with what they call "outsourcing", where your HR degree isn't worth crap.

Even if work is "outsourced", the "outsource" group is a group of employees somewhere that needs to be hired, fired, managed, paid, promoted, disciplined, trained, etc, with everything handled within legal requirements.
Ah, well. As I said, that's not what my degree is in - but it's what I did for 25 years. If the workforce is a large one, it is a more difficult and complicated job than many folks think.

Now you understand that this is just an antedote, not data, but my wife works in a plant where HR has just decided which employees are going to be laid off.
The didn't check the vacation schedule first, so they laid off so many employees that the plant had to bring a couple of dozen folks back off layoff to cover vacationing employees. They laid them off last week, bring them back for four days, then lay them off again. Only thing is, by bringing them back for four days, the employees have to pay for this months insurance. That's not too bad, since that means these lucky folks have insurance for another month.
They told the laid off employees to come in today to pick up their final checks. Only thing is, corporate told HR a month ago that final checks would be mailed. No one thought to get updated addresses. So my wife has been dealing with angry laid off employees demanding their final checks. Two of the four HR employees went on vacation this week, so they can't deal with the volume of people coming by. They just locked their door.
But they also shuffled hundreds of people from one job to another. Every job pays different wages. No one changed the computer files, so next week every person's paycheck will be wrong. Some will be overpaid, some underpaid.
The only people that have authority to change the computer files are HR.

An example of very bad HR.
Very bad.
You do not screw around with people that way.
You get your act together, so that people know what's what and what is happening to them.
Here's a better story:
Charity Hospital in New Orleans - destroyed during Katrina.
Also destroyed - ALL the payroll records. For, I think, about 5,000 employees. Every one of the records in a computer in New Orleans that was destroyed.
Their HR people worked pert' near 24/7 to research the personnel records, get the payroll records (including all the correct deductions, etc), back on line so that people would get their paychecks on time in 2 weeks.
And they did it.

I don't dispute that. What I meant was that the HR job is in India too.
