The late great Joe Zawinul with his band at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1997. A slightly different version of this tune, “Zansa,” is on the excellent concert album 75: Joe Zawinul, recorded shortly before Joe’s death. RIP, Joe, we miss you.

Obama throws out first pitch in the all star game .
Fox doesn't show if he got it over the plate or not.

I've never seen that camera angle with a first pitch.

Yes-- the bass-o-matic uses the whole bass and nothing but the bass for great bass flavor!

That's a kalimba, and he's amazingly good at it. I have one I picked up in South Africa - they're not easy to play.

I had a friend who had a couple of those, he called 'em thumb pianos. It's easy to go "plink plink plink" on them, but yes, very difficult to make nice music.

Interesting. LGF is taking about 2-3 minutes to reload the page, and I keep getting logged out. It's been like that off and on for a few of us here for about 2 weeks. I was trying to watch youtube videos earlier (on vertical axis wind turbines) and a 4 minute video would take 7 minutes to load. Almost like going back to dial up. I wonder what's going on.

Too many serious issues going on - the SCOTUS hearing, worrying about the health care reform, cap and tax, etc. Also, busy reading some good books, taking care of business at work - you all know the drill. Sorry I haven't had time to be here in awhile, but hope all are doing well. Hope to have more time to chat next week when AFVet will be out of town on business. Blessings and good health to all! Lived near Durban for six years and still own a house there (Kloof).
Whilst there I saw many talented musicians with that African signacture and often wondered why these artists were not more famous?
Then Paul Simon arrived and suddenly everything changed,
If any Lizards fancy a trip to an amazing country; then SA is worth a shot.
As far as "private " game parks are concerned then Phinda in northern Natal
was my all time favourite.(better than I'd ever anticipated).
The climate and the breath taking scenery are why I shall probably retire there.

Joe Zawinul - one of the great world-fusion pioneers. Nice sounding set of Designer Series Sonor drums - and played incredibly well!! Great band.
