By the way, the singer in this duo, Inara George, is the daughter of Little Feat's Lowell George.

Can't listen right now. I'm on hold (again) with the ASPCA poison control to report that there were no pills produced from the hydrogen peroxide administrations.

They charge $60 for the consult! Still cheaper than the emergency vet on a Sunday night. Not complaining really just suprised. I am very glad they offer the hotline.

I hope that I keep a bit of an edge when I get old. Whatever that means. I have been too busy behaving myself and acting responsible... so when I get old I might just have to act up a little. ; )

Lyrics:

Give it up for me please
Put your hands in the air
If you know what's good for you
You wanna shake it like you just don't care

Would you please clap your hands
Now get up on your feet
Ibeg of you to get up and dance
It's such a crazy kick ass beat

Pardon me
The music is moving
Moving from left to right
Apologies
For losing my cooling
Losing the day to night

Since I'm asking so nice
Would you just entertain
There's nothing left to hide you away
Just show a little bit of brain

Yes that is what I mean
That's the nail that I hit
I try to be as coy as I can
But I wanna see your naughty bit

Would you please, would you please
Would you, would you please
(Apologies)

Would you be nasty with me
Do you like dancing with me
I think we have a very special *quality*
I want to show it to you
I want to grow it with you

20 jaunte  Sun, Aug 2, 2009 8:02:42pm

I like the 'just show a little bit of brain' line.

It has come to my attention that nefarious rumors are being spread about me, having to do with me wearing a mullet, driving a primered IROC Z, and blasting Bon Jovi as I cruised for babes in my sleeveless denim jacket.

That is a bald faced lie.

I had straight long hair, blasted Slayer, and drove a black primered Nova.

Any posers spreading lies and innuendo will be dealt with in the harshest of terms. That is all.

I wish I could find more videos on her ... and I cannot because she is just one of those musicians that never gets the credit that she deserves ... so anyway ... I will post this ... and if you ever get to see her in person ... she is so great ... one of my favorites ... a friend of mine paid the big bucks to have her at his wedding ... it was so sweet ... I just love her ... this video does not do her justice ...

Marcia Ball ...

The guy in the red makes a great appearance in this video too. Maybe the ray gun beams emanating from him in videos is his vocation?

Muscle bound women, fat guys in spandex, dreadlocks and ray gun nipples. Seriously, what more could you want? Did I mention vampires? Ice cream cones? Indiscernable genders? Tu-tus? Some guy wearing a blinged out much too small speedo? Come on peoples, what do I have to do to get to watch?

61 D.C.  Sun, Aug 2, 2009 8:54:21pm

While a bunch of people have praised Inara George ("The Bird"), I'd like to say a few words on behalf of the other half of the duo, Greg Kurstin ("The Bee"), who does the instrumental and production work on their albums.

I first saw him when he was gigging around LA with his then-wife, Pamelia, as "The Kurstins" [note: he's remarried, but he's not married to Inara George--she's married to someone else; their partnership is a musical one].

He was a very impressive keyboard player (and Pamelia played theremin and sang). I hadn't kept up with his work for a while and then found out that, among other things, he's the producer behind Lily Allen's hit, "Everything's Wonderful" and he produced her most recent album, "It's Not Me, It's You", which is a nice piece of work (there is one anti-Bush song on it, but one can skip it, ignore it, whatever).

Anyway, of possible interest--experience the whimsical stylings of The Bird and The Bee on The Bird and The Bee MySpace page

Inara George has her own page--her solo stuff (sometimes with Van Dyke Parks) is different than what she does with The Bird and The Bee: Inara's MySpace page

And, Lily Allen's MySpace page, with tracks produced by Greg Kurstin for listening, is here (the anti-Bush song I referenced above is the one with the expletive in the title, should you care to skip it, as it is on her MySpace page).

Y'know, I thought the guy with the eye patch was Mike Ditka, but I'm not sure. Opinions, please?

64 Cog  Sun, Aug 2, 2009 10:04:57pm

Great song Charles, reminds me of Jem.

For some reason I am on a Concrete Blonde binge, every album is just solid. Not sure what I was doing when they were touring. Another song I just bought, GG Allstars 'Man from Carolina'. So good I have to dig the keyboard out of the garage.

65 capital L  Mon, Aug 3, 2009 4:11:44am

Both the "Polite Dance Song" and the "She's Got Me Dancing" music video (the latter linked by coquimbojoe above) were directed by Eric Wareheim, of Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job! Tim (Heidecker) and Eric have a very strange sense of humor, rooted in awkward situations, nonprofessional actors, and a "poorly made early nineties public access" aesthetic.

Hate the video, but the Song is pretty good, and really grows on me each time I hear it. May have to add this album to my collection.

Did anybody dance? -- Said after performing the highly, shall we say, evolved "Black Page #2" on "Zappa In New York". (And as you probably already know, this was the song that alerted FZ to the existance of his stunt guitarist to be,Steve Vai, after recieving a sheet music transcription of the song, made by young master Vai.)
