I seem to recall a couple years ago there was a thing PETA was doing having people lay on Styrofoam pallets covered with cellophane impersonating pieces of meat. It was horribly hot and the people -- dumb college-student intern types -- were sweating like mad.

Folks who can't tell the difference between a person and a steak are not to be trusted. You never know when they'll fall off the wagon and start eating you.

I'm a Pats fan. Have been since they started in 61. I would have liked it if they picked him up as a change of pace a couple of plays per drive

I expected the Bengals or Raiders to go for him.

Oh, further fun to look forward to-when they put Vick in, the fans go bad nuts, he does well, they suddenly love him, and then a reporter puts a microphone in front of McNabb.

And that will be all the local news covers here for months!

It's probably like the "food" they served at my husband's frat parties in college. The alcohol code required food to be served if alcohol was served. Every party they threw the same several years old, unopened bag of chips on the bar.

Hooters has an extensive public relations campaign and has actively supported charities through its Hooters Community Endowment Fund, also known as HOO.C.E.F., a play on UNICEF. It has provided money and/or volunteers to charities such as Habitat for Humanity, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and Muscular Dystrophy Association.[11] In addition, after the death of Kelly Jo Dowd, a former Hooters Girl on the cover of the Hooters calendar in 1995, and later a restaurant general manager, Hooters began a campaign against breast cancer, with awareness of the issue being spread through the Kelly Joe Dowd Fund. Local restaurants will often select their own local charities.

Hooters also launched what it calls "Operation Let Freedom Wing," which involves sending its celebrities, such as Hooters Calendar Girls, UC3 and singer Angela Lanza, to visit U.S. troops overseas, including to Afghanistan.

Hooters serves indifferent food at inflated prices because they hire young pretty waitresses and dress them in tight outfits for the enjoyment of their mostly male patrons. You can try to argue that that isn't exploiting the fact that men like looking at young womens' bodies, but that doesn't alter the basic reason the business is successful.

On a similiar note, I mentioned the other day that high school text books often cite JFK's looks and youthful appearance (in regard to the televised debate where Nixon looked to be sporting five o'clock shadow) as being more responsible for his victory than his political positions. Also, if the primary reason Dan Quayle was picked wasn't his looks, I don't know what was.

Be careful, there. That is basically what Maher said, that they were brave soldiers, not cowards, and look what it got him.

The indoctrinated will do heinous things for perceived glory. Terrifying.

I updinged you Walt because I think you were misunderstood by someone who down-dinged you.

I agree with you and Sharm. The piece is good because it calls out PETA's callousness toward humans in in their overzealous concern for animals.

Women shouldn't be objectified like this and it shouldn't be made light of even if the cause is noble such as in defense of defenseless animals.

I'd have said the Raiders, or the Cowboys.

Me too. Andy Reid doesn't take many risks when it comes to players, and the one time he did with TO he got burned. He's cut guys who tested positive for weed during training camp. Go figure.

Not to mention the gallon of sweat on his forhead and upper lip

They took a hit when their middle linebacker cracked his ACL. If there is a sudden weakness on defense (and their DC just died, God rest his soul he was the best in the NFL), an additional option on offense gets attractive real fast.

As for McNabb, if it's a question of "Donavan, do you want to run the Wildcat eight plays a game or do you want the young cannon fodder to do it?", I think I know Donavan's answer.

As I said, I'm SURE they ran this by McNabb vefore they made the overture to Vick

In the meantime, though, McNabb is going to be seething.

Indeed.

I don't think your wrong, but Donovan has been pretty sensitive in the past, and in regard to a much lesser talent than Vick.

Check out the comments below the Michael Vick article on nbc10's website. He's not exactly being welcomed with open arms.

True, but these are Philly fans, who routinely wrap snowballs around D-cell batteries before flinging them at the opposition or the Zebras. Trust me, if it works, they'll come around. They will certainly *not* give up their season tickets over this.

I think you asked me a question the other night after I left about inflation, and I still owe you an answer.

Due to high and growing rate of unemployment, discretionary income is dropping so spending is still low (by the average citizen, not by the government). When employment starts growing again and with it discretionary income, you will se inflation jump.

Interest rates are already starting to inch up slowly.
