This isn't going to show all the lurkers, since it's possible to not be logged in and still read the comments.
And there's nothing necessarily wrong with lurking, either. It's just an interesting thing to be able to see, since as a site manager it's rare to get access to that kind of detail on a real time basis.
The feature itself I think will be interesting to registered users, to be able to see who else is in the thread with them. Or I may decide it's too much power for mortal humans, not sure yet.

A "top 10 provocative posts" (or whatever you want to call it) to accompany the highest and lowest rated posts. This would be a list of the posts with the most overall net dings, with no respect to high or low. It could also be called "most rated" or "most active" or something like that if provocative is too...well... provocative.
If this already exists, I retract the suggestion and hang my head in embarrassment.

Those without health insurance still get medical care and we pay for it in a hidden cost. They often get it when it'll cost more to heal them then if they'd had regular preventive care. BTW, doctors will not become government employees.

The Kafkaesque saga of coping with Lubbock's utterly insane traffic management system continues. I had to take my mother to the airport this afternoon. By GPS, the airport lies 6.8 miles from her house. By Lubbock measurements, red lights and orange traffic cones, it might as well be on another continent.
It took an hour and 10 minutes to make the trip, just dropping her off at the terminal. I spent almost twenty minutes within a 200 yard radius of a certain notorious intersection that more or less crosses the infamous Marsha Sharp Porkway. The only way across is a single lane with a Lubbock Forever light. Once through that, if you haven't run out of gas or died of starvation waiting for the light to change, you get to drive about half a block on yet another single lane before coming to yet another Forever Light. Normally 2 full cycles are required to get through each of these, even though Lubbock has the longest red light cycle times in the country (avg 1 minute 10 seconds).
At one place in Lubbock, a major thoroughfare (Quaker Avenue) is obstructed by no fewer than 5 Forever lights in the space of less than a mile. It also crosses the Porkway in that stretch so any attempt to use that route is hopeless if you are not on welfare and therefore attach even a minimum value to your time.
The Porkway will be under construction until at least 2014 but it is only the tip of the orange cone-berg. The city and state have dozens of smaller projects going around town just now, with new ones likely to pop up like a small-pox outbreak at almost any time and place.
Our only hope is some kind of outside intervention to shut down this nonsense and learn the real reasons for it. Sixty Minutes? The NHTSA? Maybe we can get help on the eco-wacky front. The EPA should investigate just how much fuel is wasted by this insanity and how much it contributes to Global Warming, and fine or imprison Lubbock's city "planners" accordingly.

Hey Avanti, wanted to ask you a question. I know you know a lot about used cars so here goes. I am trying to "cash - in" on the CFC program. I have a 2006 Maxima (loaded) with about 30k miles on it and a 2008 Quest (also loaded) with under 12k miles on it. Which one do you think I should trade in so I can get my fair share of the "free gubmint shit"?

Newly elected Democrats waver on health plan
from article
In the e-mail, which Mr Axelrod asks supporters to forward to others, he denies that the administration favours rationing healthcare, that the new system will undermine health benefits offered to the over-65s in the government’s Medicare scheme or that the reform will encourage euthanasia – the origin of the “death panel” myth.

I traded in my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 206,000 miles on it 2 weeks ago. Got my $4500 and now my wife has a new Corolla. They have a lot of clunkers over there.
I was talking to the finance manager today. They have received payment from the government for 2 clunkers so far.

Neither, they both are worth more then the rebate and may not qualify as low enough MPG. My old 15 MPG pickup was worth way less, and I stepped up to a 30 MPG new car. BTW, now you can order a new car from the factory and still get the rebate since the dealers are running out of cars. Ford is paying overtime and Chrysler is working a third shift to restock.

I'm thinking that maybe clicking 'new comments' shouldn't count as 'activity.' Instead, it should update the 'presence' time.
I don't know what your window is to reset the initial activity stamp but I figured you were calculating presence time from "initial activity" to now().

I've been buying my meds from Mexico as it is, buying them here in the states costs me over $400 a month more than it does from Mexico. I get a 3 month supply from Mexico for less than $30. I have applied for Medi-care Part-D and am waiting for an answer.

depends on the model, drive train etc...it's a high end gig...some of the big block Chevelles can go for close to a million...and there is a market for that stuff...a vintage steel 426 Hemi can snag you 10k...of course you can still buy them in a box too
