Assassination Rhetoric at Hate Blog

When they aren’t calling me names, or threatening me with violence, the twisted people who post at a blog dedicated to stalking LGF are threatening the life of the President: Leftists Love Their Autocrats — 2.0: blogmocracy.com.

Chalk this clown as one of the tyrants. (With a picture of Barack Obama.)

It may not be as disgusting and vile as threatening the President, but here’s just one of many threats of violence against me: Open Thread: The Blogmocracy Manifesto Edition.

I just hope he gets a picture of it!

UPDATE at 9/10/09 10:16:00 am:

That is far from the only threat against President Obama that has been posted at the stalker site. Here’s one of their “founders,” complaining at his own hate blog because his call for someone to assassinate Obama was deleted: Will someone please kill Obama? and LGF2 « Avid Editor’s Insights.

Will someone please kill Obama? and LGF2
Posted by avideditor on December 3, 2008

Some one deleted my comment from LGF2 because I asked that question. It is still legal because Obama is yet to be President of the USA. I think he cheated to get Elected and that Obama is a Jihadi. I am leaving America because he is going to be president. I love America and I really do not want to leave. That is why I asked that question. I am no longer posting at LGF2, unless I receive an apology. It has already been a day and the traffic is already down there. Here are some of the stuff I posted there.

Memo to LGF2 - if you're going to pursue this path, be prepared for the consequences- visits by the US Secret Service and/or FBI followed by criminal charges. Such speech can and should be construed as threats against the President of the US, and those engaging in same should be prepared for same.

You can dislike the President without threatening his life. You can debate without debasing yourself or threatening others. But then again, that didn't stop you before, and it's not going to stop you now - until the USSS comes in and does just that.

Marking Gilad Shalit’s Birthday

One thousand, one-hundred, sixty-nine days, 17 hours, 36 minutes and 22 seconds. That’s how long Gilad Shalit had spent in captivity as of Sunday night, Sept. 6, as 250 members of the Los Angeles Jewish community gathered at American Jewish University (AJU) to mark the soldier’s 23rd birthday.

The community event, sponsored by the Israeli Leadership Council (ILC), AJU and The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, was the first of its kind in Los Angeles to publicly address the subject.

“Israelis here care about Gilad Shalit’s fate,” said Shoham Nicolet, ILC executive director. “But they talk about it in their own homes. When you talk to any Israeli here, they know the facts; they know what the latest developments are. They just haven’t addressed it in public before.”

The impetus for the event, three years after Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas on June 25, 2006, came from the Israeli community. Two Israelis, Hofit Kahan and Yanir Dekel, approached Nicolet, outraged that other U.S. cities were honoring Shalit’s fourth birthday in captivity but Los Angeles, the city with the largest population of Israelis outside of Israel, had nothing planned.

A week and a half later, Los Angeles had an event.

I want to say something pithy and wise, and perhaps even witty, about the stalker blogs, but I can't.

Even more so, I can't find any humor in wishing ill on someone because of disagreement. Respect in argument doesn't seem to exist anymore.

Regardless, (and before any stalkers think that all I'm doing is brown nosing, think again) thanks for being steadfast in your beliefs, Charles, even if at times we don't see eye to eye.

Not too my knowledge. They haven't been that brazen yet. They've come close, very close to the line however. Their comments on the other hand, are a cesspool that makes the Stickney Sewage Treatment Plant (that treats most of Chicago's raw sewage) look like a swimming pool.

They've advocated for the death of the president, the death of Charles, the rape of several female lizard commentors, and general injury to anyone who opposes them. They are disgusting, and a general warning to anyone who thinks that by merely commenting over there that you are simply communicating with other former lizards, if you register there, you give that nutjob Savage your name, your email, and God knows what else. Do you really think giving Savage that info is a good idea? Not to mention that by commenting there, you are essentially condoning what they say.

Friedman isn't a tyrant, but his adulation of the Chinese government should be more than a little troubling. In fact, it made me retch. I can't believe how far he's fallen since he left the fieldwork to others to concentrate on his op-ed column. He's now busy shilling that we've got a whole lot to learn from the Chinese (sounds a wee bit like Obama's adulation of Chinese infrastructure - before the Sichuan quake showed the widespread failure of same, and don't get me started on the environmental disaster that is China on a daily basis). That doesn't even begin to touch on the blatant disregard for human rights and what they do to political prisoners.

These maroons have not experienced tyranny and if they had they would be in Mommy's basement sucking their thumbs not calling for revolution.

Hey geniuses! We have a democratically elected President. Get involved in local politics and vote in the next election- you still have your franchise (although you wouldn't know it from their rhetoric).

Having said that I wish our President wouldn't be so fast and loose with the confirmation process and federal spending or we may be opening the door to future tyranny.

I dunno. Reading the post in context, it sounds like that guy was threatening Tom Friedman, the subject of the thread, rather than the President. He just happens to have an icon of a cigarette-smoking Barry O for his online ID, which is physically associated with that particular post.

That's how I read it as well. Barry is his post icon; that guy has other posts with him as well (such as #8 in that thread).

But I agree that calling Friedman either a patriot or a tyrant is pretty hyperbolic. I think of him now as a sorry little man, given to repeating old Obama speeches at home in front of a mirror while sensuously massaging one of his linty black turtlenecks. 'course, that applies to most of the Times' op-ed stable.

re: #55 lawhawk

I don't like to rag on Tommy, but perhaps it's a monetary thing to suck up to the Chinese.
His in-laws net worth went from almost a BILLION dollars to something like a hundred million.
Maybe he's looking for investors to buy in to all those shopping centers.
/ (if necessary)

127 BARACK THE VOTE  Thu, Sep 10, 2009 10:15:04am

Can't stand Friedman for a few years now. He's long been a laughingstock. People have run contests on the left "Write your own TF column". So long as it includes a sweeping generalisation based on a conversation he had with a cab driver, you've pretty much nailed it. Include some hilariously shattered metaphors for the full TF effect.

Here is a recent and awesome Matt Taibbi takedown of his vacuity.

Someone wrote a column about "how to write a Thomas Friedman column" back in 2004. I can only find it hosted at this link:

Here is some of it:

1. Choose your title to intrigue the reader through its internal conflict:

a. War and Peas
b. Osama, Boulevardier
c. Big Problems, Little Women

5. Remember: Thomas Friedman is the Carrie Bradshaw of current events. Think Sex and the City, write “Sects and Tikriti”

6. Name-drop heavily, particularly describing intimate situations involving hard-to-reach people:

a. The Jacuzzi was nearly full when Ayman al-Zawahiri, former surgeon and now Al Qaeda’s head of operations, slid in.

b. It was Thomas Pynchon on the phone. “Tommy,” he said, probably aware we share that name ..

c. Despite the bumpy flight, I felt comfortable in the hands of a pilot as experienced as Amelia Earhart.

Thoman Friedman really deserves nothing but mockery at this point. I gather he used to be good, and I've heard his book "from beirut to jerusalem" was good, and I used to like him years ago- no more.

Must return to the salt mines, but consider this...

There's the aphorism; "If you fail to plan, plan to fail." The GOP failed to plan on how they would handle being in in the wilderness--miserably. Instead of a cogent message and an organized party, it is a scene reminiscent of Plutarch when Caligula was killed, or the November Revolution-- there's a scramble for power. That scramble has yet to end--no one has climbed to the top of the greasy pole, so it seems. The disaster is that in all the yelling, both here on the net and in the news, is that the other side is defining the GOP message. That must stop--and soon.

The GOP cannot continue to be portrayed as John Cleese in the "Argument" sketch (yes, it can). It must devise a message, but first, it has to find a voice to combat how it is being defined. If in politics, perception is in fact reality, then the GOP is the party of "no"-- and that has to change before the beginning of next year.

I treat you, and all other people I banter with over the intertubes, the same way I would treat them in person, because, well, they're people.

What's the matter with you? You can't be paranoid like a normal person, you gotta express rational, fact-based disagreement with the man's work? What kind of a sick freak are you?

I just sent them an email with links to the pertinent details. They're required to investigate all threats made against the President; it's part of their charter.

Most likely, little will be done. But it will certainly be reviewed. Honestly, though, these loons are all talk and no action; it makes them feel like their lives are worth something to toss around idle threats that they will never act upon.

Speaking of hate-filled stalker sites,
At the UN's new site, a worldwide web of anti-Israel bias

The UN has just rolled out a new overhauled website. Presumably, the
idea was to make it clearer what the UN does and to make it easier to
access the goings-on. Insofar as UN demonization of Israel and UN-driven
antisemitism are central pillars of its activities, the new site does an
admirable job. In only five easy steps, the user is presented with ten
categories for all meeting summaries and press releases of the entire
General Assembly since they went online in 1995. One such category is
"Palestinian Rights." All the other choices list nothing but generalities

So I did, with no insult meant to our host, decide to look over there.

It is a bizarre mirror world of here.

They have people who post stuff like at the top of this thread.

There are angry truthers...

There are angry UFO truthers...

There are angry creationists

There are angry people who just want to kill Muslims (all of them).

There is an endless angry fascination with this site. They stole the graphic that Charles uses for his flying pig and have overnight open threads and even post music. But it really is a looking glass LGF. Beware the Red Queen, not fun in a good way, looking glass.

To go with this sick fascination there is the worst sort of invective brought against people who are here. I mean just simply mean childish stuff. They comment that one person here is on welfare for instance, or speculate on another's sexual activities and always with the most vulgar names they think are clever. They are just creepy. Very creepy.

At first, I was entertained that his inverted world was so very bizarre. I admit the same morbid fascination I get when I look at $cientology literature. But I noticed how actually mean they are, and how very closely they follow stuff here. It ceased to be funny and rather turned to just creepy and pathetic. Crazies banned for spewing crazy bile here go there. It is a certain filtering and condensing process of the crazy - and they can't seem to forget here in there new home.

G-d. Bottom line... Charles you did right booting those losers - each and every one.

Well, if you're looking for a reading list on the Middle East, that's a good place to start on background. Even though it's been out for nearly 20 years (yeah, it's been that long), it's still solid on the basic interactions in those two countries. With events in Lebanon what they are, probably moreso.

Also, anything by Bernard Lewis is highly recommended. Michael Oren's history of the 6 day war is also highly recommended along with Quandt's Peace Process and Spiegel's The Other Arab Israeli Conflict (discussing the US role and how both sides tried to play to the US).

Charles you did right booting those losers - each and every one.

do a word count in what you just wrote. What word pops up over and over?

Yosi Sergant, Obama Aide, Asked To Resign: Glenn Beck Strikes Again

Beck attacked Sergant and the NEA on his Fox News talk show, accusing the agency of propaganda efforts similar to those used by Nazi Germany. And now Sergant has been tossed overboard, making him Beck's second victim in his campaign to rid the administration of perceived radicals, socialists, communists, fascists, anarchists and all other manner of nefarious influences.

Perhaps not coincidentally, both Sergant and Van Jones - Beck's first takedown - have roots in on-the-ground organizing and were tightly connected with the grassroots progressive community.

The NEA wouldn't comment on Sergant's situation specifically, saying that it was a confidential personnel matter.

Thanks, lawhawk. I have wanted to do more reading on the subject, but recent events have made me leery of who to trust. I trust any book on the subject with your recommendation, though. Thanks again.

245. Robert Spencer on 10 September, 2009 at 7:34 am
Re #240 Zimriel:

“Even after all of that, I was going to keep defending Charles…”

I myself was late to the party. The first year that Johnson embarked on his smear campaign against the European anti-jihadists and those he associated with them (rightly and wrongly) in America, I tried to stay out of it.

Bullshit. You were too chickenshit let your real feeling be known even though most of us could see right through you.

But there is a lateness to the party that manifests a moral myopia that is extremely severe. After what Johnson did (and does) to Pamela Geller, his jihad against Glenn Beck, his lies about Ann Coulter, and on and on and on, for someone to say “even after all of that, I was going to keep defending Charles” is like the defiant fascist salute Ezra Pound gave when he returned to Italy in 1958.

Again, more bullshit. Geller is one of nuttiest fruitcakes in the blogosphere. Beck is bona-fide nuts. It's obvious anytime he's on the air. Coulter has been an agent provocateur and goes out of her way to be a twit. Charles has documented and backed up his accusations with solid information and facts. Something you have failed to do time and time again, Robert. And it is ironic that someone associated with fascists would compare Charles to a fascist.

In other words, by that time it was easy to be on the right side, and those who were still on the wrong side were suffering from profound disabilities of judgment and moral sense.

So, Robert, are you suffering enough yet from being on the wrong side? Allying with fascists is the wrong side, dipstick.

I really should do a ME reading list at some point, had I world enough and time. Some day. At the moment the books I'm interested in are about fascism and white nationalism/supremicism:
Paxton's Anatomy of Fascism
Ziegler's Blood and Politics
Neiwert's the Eliminationists, How Hate Talk Radicalised the American Right

Can't recommend Dave Neiwert highly enough, btw. He's been tracking the rise of eliminativist talk on the mainstream right for years, and is an excellent resource for anyone worried about recent events like the town halls, the tree of liberty comments, the return of extremist militias, the talk of revolution spun by people like Malkin and Beck. Anyone worried about these issues should check out Neiwert's extensive documentation about how this is not new, it's the outgrowth of years of mainstreaming hateful rhetoric.

Here is his excellent series on Michelle Malkin. It's in several parts and is a review of her book from 2005.

Well, I relied heavily on Quandt and Spiegel in writing my master's thesis, and oren added new insight into the events surrounding the 6 day war that weren't available when the other books were published.

Lewis is the dean of study on Islam, and should be required reading for anyone looking at the region and its politics. I would suggest that Esposito and Edward Said be read, both because they are on the other side of the political spectrum, and because it's good to understand how they came to their arguments when confronted with them.

When you've finished exploring those fever swamps of the right, you would do well to undertake a similar expedition into the hinterlands of the left, for a sense of scale and perspective. Political radicalism is present at both ends of the spectrum, sad to say, but whereas former members of, say, The Minutemen, lapse into relative obscurity after (and because of) their crimes, I note that quite a few Weathermen hold positions of some status and influence, precisely because they were terrorists.

Yes, in the progosphere we sarcastically have created a measurement of time called "The friedman unit" which means, t plus 6 months. -- i.e., define time t as now, and the friedman unit is a forever moving point meaning "six months from now, always".

I'm no fan of Obama, but that kind of garbage HAS to stop.

I don't like the results of the election, but we're at least supposed to be a nation under the rule of law. We can oppose his ideas and fight for our own ideas & beliefs, but this MUST happen legally. If we start acting like the nutcases who've read 'Rules for Radicals', we're no better than they are. We should be better than that.

We have to stop acting like the President.

When you've finished exploring those fever swamps of the right, you would do well to undertake a similar expedition into the hinterlands of the left

I'm sick of this shit. When left wing extremism is a problem again, you can bet I'll be all over it. Til then, spare me the fake evenhandedness and wailing of 'the lefties are meeean' too.

There is a serious problem with rightwing extremism now, and it's been the right wing extremists that are typically more prone to violence, at least for the last several decades.

When the weather underground reforms again I'll talk about them. Until then I'll be spending my time in 2009 talking about last weeks SPLC report showing that the rightwing extremist militia activity is at its highest level since the 90's.
Admitting that rightwing extremism is a series problem at this moment doesn't mean ignoring or excusing left wing extremism, btw. It just means recognising that it's the right that's the problem at this moment.

Hi Ludwig! Hope you're doing great today!

I went on the record awhile back (during a time when it appeared people over there were posting using lizard's nic's) that I only post at LGF - no other blog site. I did that to assure everyone here that if they saw my nic anywhere else, it would be an fake. So, think I'll take a pass on going over there.

Perfectly fair buddy.

However, given their stated aims to never bounce anyone - no matter how insane, I rather like the idea of someone posting what you wrote.

However, I suppose it really is being a troll. And we should not pull on someone's straight jacket. It's rude.

They brag that they do not ban people... That all reasonable comments are welcome... You should try it... Someone should try it.

It is hardly a troll thing to say.

That it is, but people who do so usually get harassed first, banned (ask Reggie P), and even get death threats their way.

"Daria Emmons," who was posting sneaky defenses of Robert Spencer yesterday, is hanging out today at another stalker site I won't link to, and is now banned.

As is "Snowy Owl," another username who has been lurking at LGF and now hangs out with the stalkers. "Snowy Owl" recently registered a sock puppet in the name of "BobK," and that one is banned too.

Did anyone ever figure out what book she thought she was talking about?

One of the more disgusting, on-going smears of Charles and LGF, imo, is how the haters think everything involves money. Charles is getting paid by Soros, Charles is paying all of us to support LGF, Charles posts this or that thread to get money, etc. etc.

This is also not new- I have heard this reasoning for Charles' behavior for years, and the first person to ever say this to me was a lizard now serving as an administrator to the stalker blog. What a shock. //

It just goes to show these people are unable to comprehend that a person might do something based on principles rather than self-interest. To them- it's a foreign concept.

You think they're gone? No, just new uniforms. They needn't plant dynamite to attain their ends, as they've completed the Gramscian march through the institutions. The fact that unrepentant members of terrorist orgs can serve, in one capacity or another, as ersatz academics, advisors to the President, or in any capacity other than wanted fugitive tells me that the ascendancy of the Left is an accomplished fact.

Tell you what: When rightist militamen become lecturers on history, politics, and race relations at formerly respected universities, when they serve in any capacity that affords them advisory access to the president, then we can talk.

Spencer publishes a letter from someone named Paul Weston praising the English Defense League...

But to make a further point - so what if Robert had met with the EDL?

They claim they are not racist, that they disagree with the BNP, that they have no truck with West Indians but they are (and indeed who isn't) concerned about the rapid Islamisation of Luton.

What then, should they do?

Write articles on blogs? Attend conferences around the world mixing with the erudite and educated defenders of Judeo/Christianity?

Charles Johnson is clearly a tad snobbish. EDL supporters are working class chaps who have suffered greatly from a progressive education in Britain's socialist schools.

Their justifiable anger and resentment cannot be salved by becoming members of the intelligentsia overnight.

They will do what the less well educated always do when confronted with potential aggression, they front up.

Fronting up is probably an alien act to Johnson, as apparently is backing down. In more ways than one I imagine.

Paul Weston, who Spencer uses to praise the EDL, is a long winded blogger who is also fond of the BNP...
Socialist Propaganda in British Education

As the BNP are promoted as bigoted, racist neo-Nazis by the liberal/left, then what the good professor is intimating here is both racist and slanderous. There are monuments and graveyards everywhere one looks in this once great country, testimony to the hundreds of thousands of young men killed fighting against precisely the ideology that Gus John has now turned around and levelled against us as typifying the entire British race.

To rub salt into the wound it transpired that some organisations calling for all the above have been singled out and praised by Tony Blair and the British police as role models for their inter-faith and multicultural activities. Perhaps this is why our politicised police, so keen to prosecute the BNP’s Nick Griffen for accusing Islam of being wicked, have done NOTHING in the face of Islamic calls for murder and conquest.

Kind of a dragony thing.

Rodan (ラドン Radon?) is a fictional monster, introduced in Rodan, a 1956 release from Toho Studios, the company responsible for the Godzilla series. Like Godzilla and Anguirus, it is designed after a type of prehistoric reptile (the Japanese name "Radon" is a contraction of "pteranodon " and may also have been chosen to suggest radiation). Radon is usually referred to as Rodan in the United States, possibly to avoid confusion with the atomic element Radon; also, any time his name is written in English in Japan, it is written as Rodan. He is occasionally portrayed as enemy of Godzilla but has allied himself with the King of Monsters on several instances against more dangerous threats.

This goes beyond unacceptable. This goes beyond sick. These people are not patriots. As far as I'm concerned these swine (and I hate to slander such a fine animal.) have resigned from the human race.

I'm sick of that liberty tree quote and the yahoos who constantly shove it in our faces like they were freezing their asses off with Washington at Valley Forge instead of simply being beer guzzling retards who probably can't even hold a job at a car wash.

I've done some work in relation to real-life stalkers, and I know they thrive on the kind of attention they're getting in this thread. The post and comments will fuel their rage for days, maybe weeks. If that's the point, to tweak their grubby little noses, then it's a job well done.

On another topic, I've said before that I can't stand most of the cable news babbling ideologues, and rarely watch them anymore. I've always disliked O'Reilly, just for his gross personality, and the fact he was pimping his book for kids at the same time his sexual harassment escapades hit the fan. Too much irony can kill a man!

However, his interview with Joe Bastardi last night came up on Youtube this morning when I was looking for something else, a waterskiing squirrel or screaming German kid. If you don't know Bastardi, you should get to know him. He's a straight-shooter.

Bastardi responded to Gore's 2008 "60 Minutes" bullfest with some choice words: [Link: global-warming.accuweather.com...]

Poor guy thinks that because I posted contact information for Blue Mean that I'm going to try and shut them down. Actually, I have much better things to do and in a way I enjoy watching them squirm. That post of course led him to insult my mother and father.

Rodan has been at this for over a year now. His rage never seems to end and his "enemies" list seems to grow daily. Like a criminal, instead of attempting to deescalate the situation he just grows madder by the minute. Since I know he and the rest of that sad bunch read this by the minute here's some diagnostic criteria for anti-social behavior:

1. Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest;

2. Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeatedly lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;
3. Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead;

4. Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults;

5. Reckless disregard for safety of self or others;

6. Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations;

7. Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.

They also continue to commit acts of crime or violence long after the rewards have stopped and the punishment has begun (e.g. repeat offenders who have been incarcerated multiple times). They also are quick to display aggressive and impulsive behavior. This reactive antisocial aggression is perhaps in part a result of elevated levels of frustration experienced when they are unable to modify their behavior in the ever-changing environment.

Basically, if you expect them to clean like a regular vac in one pass, you'll be disappointed. Before I ran mine the first time I did a good vacuuming with my upright. Even than, the Roomba's dust bin would need cleaning 2-3 times in it's normal run. It took fully two weeks of running under the bed for example before the dust bin would not fill between Rosie returning to her charging dock.
You also have to clean the pet hair out of the rollers and brushes every time you dump the bin. It's sounds like a pain, but it's a two minute job that I hope will go away after it gets caught up.
My wife loves it, everyday the carpets look and feel better, especially the edges that the dust bunny side brush gets and under the furniture.

re: #493 Creeping Eruption

Ingredients
2 lbs venison tenderloins (a single deer loin or pork or beef)
1/2 lb bacon (Plain, thin-sliced Bacon is best)
3 cups dark brown sugar
2 cups soy sauce (Regular NOT low-sodium. You'll want the saltiness)
1/4 cup white sugar (Optional for added Sweetness start at 1/8 cup and adjust for taste...)

Directions
1. Mix brown Sugar and Soy sauce together in a bowl. They should combine nicely into a soupy soy liquid.
2. Put Deer Loin in a cooking tray and pour Brown Sugar/Soy Sauce mixture over loin. Roll tenderloin over in mixture, completely covering it.
3. Let meat marinate in mixture at least 3 hours or overnight in fridge. It's best to marinate for 8 hours if you have the time. Also GREAT to use a Food Saver or other Vacuum device to Vacuum pack/seal the meat with Marinade. With this method, you can achieve Overnight-level marinade in just a couple hours!
4. Remove loin from tray, and place on a slotted bake sheet with a drip pan or aluminum foil below to catch dripping. Don't throw away marinade.
5. Wrap a piece of bacon around the very end of the tenderloin, securing the bacon strip with a toothpick.
6. Repeat this process until the entire loin is wrapped in ten or so bacon "loops." The tenderloin should look like an arm with a bunch of wrist watches on it, the watches being the bacon strips.
7. Drizzle remaining marinade over deer loin. You can continue to baste the loin with the marinade throughout the cooking process with either a brush or a turkey baster.
8. Place on center rack in oven and bake at 350°F for 30-40* minutes. *This should cook the meat to about Medium. For those of you who prefer rare meat (like me), cut the time to 25-30 minutes.
9. For a crispier crust and crispier bacon, remove Loin from oven and place the Loin(s) directly on a Grill over medium-high heat to sear the bacon and outer loin.

"Meteorologist" is another word for "weatherman." He has no credentials at all as a climate scientist.

?!

Meteorology is a serious field of study, though most people in it have to make a living outside of academia.

My oceanography professor used to team-teach with a meteorology prof in lab. Marvellous expansion of the material.

I have no idea what "karate tough" means.

My master would kick anyone out of the dojang who played the bully. Being humble and peaceable are very much part of most martial arts training I've encountered.

"Karate tough" is someone with a blackbelt who thinks that makes him a street-fighter when in fact he is not. Courage and skill in an orderly dojo is very different from real life. And your master is correct, the real macoy is humble and peacefully, thus my point. I know of what I speak.

That doesn't mean I in any way dismiss or excuse their behaviour.

Good to hear. Sometimes folks here talk about this as if it's no big deal, or try to marginalize it in some way and I don't think it's really fair. Not one person here would tolerate what Charles has for so many years. I mean I guess it comes with the territory to some extent but it's got to get you.

531 BARACK THE VOTE  Thu, Sep 10, 2009 12:10:52pm

IMO the majority of people on the left who had a bad opinion of LGF did so because of commenters. Comments were cherrypicked and then circulated. At one time there were many comments here that were far over the line and did not reflect the views of our host--except insofar as they reflected Charles' reluctance to play cop and tightly moderate comments, or curtail speech.

Unfortunately, moderation and registration are essential on any blog this size, because the lunatics will always manage to gain control and drive everyone else away. Look at the swamp HuffPo comments and other places can turn into-- because they don't moderate or don't moderate as well and thoroughly as here.

I liked Iron Fist and we were always civil to each other. He had many intelligent things to say. But it is also true that he had another, very dark side, and in that mood many of the comments he made were circulated throughout the blogopshere, and they came to almost define the left's idea of what LGF is-- and many on the centre as well.

Exactly, I don't mean to call to authority, but over the last 30 years I have trained hundreds of black belts from most every system imaginable, and on several continents, as well as military, police, special forces, champion kick-boxers, bikers, etc. I have a short list of those I'd actually choose to be with me in a fight and most of them ain't martial artists. You think that I'm a stupid person who has been led by the nose to believe what ExxonMobil thinks is best for the company, as your comments to me on this subject would indicate. So be it, it's your blog. I began as a believer in AGW, when I started researching this subject seriously about 7-8 years ago. I'm opposed to the idea of talking about the banned, or that site--and I don't plan to again-- but I wanted to give credit where it is due and also acknowledge some harsh truths.

I liked IF and learned from him in many conversations and that's still true. But it is also true that in his other mood, he did a tremendous amount of damage to LGF's reputation on the left and centre, to such an extent that his nickname and those views came to be considered synonymous with LGF-- and taken for Charles' views.

I still wish him well, hope he finds a better place to post than the stalker site (which is only going to bring out all the worst in him, unfortunately) and wish him success and happiness with his upcoming marriage.

Hey mm-- everything you're saying is true. I know that. I've seen those comments. I came from the leftysphere so I know all about how those comments affected LGF's reputation. I'd be the last to question the banning.

None of this should be construed as a defense of those comments or what he's doing now over at the other place. I know he's saying terrible things about Charles and LGF. I also have heard that he's specifically called me a liar and a c--t.

I see no sign of that and I am active on the AGW threads, do you have some information I have missed?

What I have have seen is an even handed treatment of the subject, with a lot of technical detail. As some-one who leans to the AGW sceptics side I welcome the effort to raise the standard of the debate and challenge those who make facile arguments and at the same time honestly state the status of the science.

Now that this has become a partisan political issue there is far too many easily disputed claims being bandied about by lesser minds. This renders the legitimate concerns of the AGW sceptic side weakened by association.

1. Just exactly what part of my response to your questions indicates advice on what you should post? "go after problems that matter"? Fine. I have no problems: leave it at that.
2. If that comment poster called for you to be murdered, shame on him, and shame on you for claiming some sort of perceived "defense" on my part of any such statement.
3. Ahh, when you say "people" -- I'm not defending the "essence of their blog" any more than every poster at LGF is Charles Johnson. I'm not a poster there, don't intend to be. I'm just saying that an avatar and a well-worn, trite (and stupid IMHO) statement from decades ago doesn't link, equate or activate any knee-jerk reaction, with the exception of a war of words between two blogs that really don't have that much in common in the first place, that you started in this case.
