The Latest Crazy Creationist Promo at the Craziest Right Wing Site

Science • Views: 5,530

I thought I’d seen everything.

Then I saw this completely crazy anti-evolution article at the web’s craziest right wing site, Weird Nut Daily: ’Origin of Species’ edition debunks evolution.

That’s right. They’re claiming that Darwin’s ground-breaking work “The Origin of Species” is an anti-evolution book. You almost have to bow down before such invincible stupidity. Verily, it gets no dumber than this.

For extra credit, it includes an insanely out-of-context and distorted quote from none other than P.Z. Myers:

“It’s like a book with multiple personality disorder – two parts that absolutely hate each other; an intro that is the inane product of one of the most stupid minds of our century, and a science text that is the product of one of the greatest minds of the author’s century,” wrote PZ Myers, who teaches at the University of Minnesota at Morris.

Do I need to point out how deceptive this is?

Here’s Ray Comfort, one of the universe’s densest creationists, selling snake oil to the many gullible readers of Weird Nut Daily:

Best-selling Christian author Ray Comfort says there are such huge holes in evolutionary arguments that he’s giving away 50,000 copies of a special edition of Charles Darwin’s “Origin of Species” that includes an introduction not only revealing the theory’s many hoaxes but also Darwin’s own thoughts on the existence of God.

And here’s Ray Comfort, explaining how the banana “debunks evolution” to fellow fanatic Kirk Cameron.

The Republican National Committee advertises on Weird Nut Daily. Anyone think there’s a problem with that?

What's really odd is evolution and capitalism are so similar. The Invisible Hand is like natural selection. Capitalism is something the right supposedly values, but can't see it's peer in science.

Ray Comfort, also a well know Catholic basher:

Ray Comfort’s Simple World

Protestant author Ray Comfort recently said that “the Vatican has chosen to officially believe Darwin rather than Jesus.” He accuses the Catholic Church of failing to exercise “common sense” and of failing to think “too deeply” about evolution.

The best-selling author doesn’t mince words: “The Vatican, in essence, is saying ‘Don’t believe Jesus or Genesis. Believe Darwin instead.’” He even goes so far as to say that “In the name of diversity, the Vatican is encouraging atheism, and that’s a terrible betrayal of Christianity.”

Comfort is wrong. The fact is that in the 1950s, Pope Pius XII said there was no conflict between evolution and the doctrine of faith, as long as God was not excluded. Pope John Paul II affirmed this teaching in the mid-1990s.

In other words, the Catholic Church teaches that God is the author of all creation. How stages of human development have unfolded is a legitimate area of scientific inquiry, and it has nothing to do with rejecting God as the Creator.

Moreover, to say that one must believe in either Jesus or Darwin smacks of an inability to “think deeply” about the subject. Even more preposterous is the assertion that the Vatican is encouraging atheism. What’s next? The pope is the Anti-Christ?

The banana, as we know it today, is the result of careful genetic engineering. One could not possibly pick a worse fruit as evidence that evolution is a hoax. That background noise you hear on the video is the irony rushing past at supersonic speed.

Ray Comfort, also a well know Catholic basher:

Ray Comfort’s Simple World

What's amazing is these folks are contradicting not only Catholic doctrine but Protestant doctrine too- many rely on St Augustine's take:

It is too disgraceful and ruinous, though, and greatly to be avoided, that he [the non-Christian] should hear a Christian speaking so idiotically on these matters, and as if in accord with Christian writings, that he might say that he could scarcely keep from laughing when he saw how totally in error they are. In view of this and in keeping it in mind constantly while dealing with the book of Genesis, I have, insofar as I was able, explained in detail and set forth for consideration the meanings of obscure passages, taking care not to affirm rashly some one meaning to the prejudice of another and perhaps better explanation.

This is centuries before Darwin.

Many people don't know, and Comfort is clearly one of them, that the yellow banana Comfort is holding is a mutation on wild varieties!

Common sweet banana is a mutation from wild varieties which are not as sweet; furthermore, the varieties we eat have been bred so that the seeds are miniscule in size compared to the natural species.

In other words, what Comfort is holding in his hand is a man-made creation.

I don't believe you can build a rational middle from either party at this point. The GOP has demonstrated open hostility to rationality, and the Dems are in the middle of a classic majority party internecine war.

Well, that is an honest answer. Thank you for that.

I agree everyone in the middle should fight the fringes to get them to shut up. But local tactics often overrule wisdom (See: Somme). American democracy is a 'zero sum game' with a time clock. An odd creature for sure.

So each side has a very serious vested interest in keeping their fringe voting in their direction while trying to maintain some distance for plausible deniability.

I listened to a recording of the "debate" in Alabama between Dawkins and Lennox. It wasn't exactly a debate, with the moderator reading one or more "theses" from The God Delusion, inviting Dawkins to comment and then asking Lennox to respond. Dawkins had to struggle (and whine a bit) to get time to rebut Lennox before they moved on to the next thesis.

I read some comments about the debate, and different people reached different conclusions as to who came out ahead. In my opinion, Dawkins was a far more convincing speaker than Lennox.

A German banker is trying to convince Hitler that the Jews are good for Germany. "They're smart," he says. "Come on, I'll show you."

He enters a Jewish-owned store, and asks the owner, "Hey, do you stock left-handed beer steins?"

The man behind the counter pauses (stares nervously at Hitler), and says 'Sure! Left-handed beer steins? We got one left!" With that, he takes a normal stein down off the shelf, turning it so the handle faces the other way, and presents it to his customer.

"See?" says the banker as they leave the store. "Brains!"

"What's so smart about that?" Hitler snorts. "He just happened to have one in stock."

It is what it is.

The idiocy of it is, the Dems could easily abandon the fringe and seek the middle. The far Left will no more vote R than the far Right will ever vote D, and they stand to solidify the I's and crossover disgruntled R's from the Bush years. Republicans, on the other hand practically have less and less left other than their fringe. Abandoning them would be a bigger short term hit ( but then again - who would they vote for?), but they stand to gain much more from the middle if they do.

Since neither thing is going to happen, I still think a new centrist/rationalist party could change the game within 2 decades. It would require some big names and big money to lay it on the line for the long haul, though.

Actually I understood exactly what this article was talking about... although the headline is misleading. It's this particular, new super-dee-duper edition of Origin of Species that will "debunk" evolution... presumably because of the accompanying intro by Ray Comfort. (Which is kinda interesting, if you think about it, since Comfort asserts that Darwin was not hostile to the idea of a Creator at all. So I guess Comfort means only to debunk the notion of Darwinian evolution without a Creator...?)

I also found the PZ Myers quote instantly understandable: Myers considers Darwin a genius and Comfort an idiot.

The "banana debunks evolution" argument is just awful logic and awful science. My first thought was "but where's the apple's (or orange's, or kiwi's, etc. etc.) perfectly shaped, ergonomic, quick-release peel?" Oops.

Republicans, on the other hand practically have less and less left other than their fringe.

Well, I believe you are overstating that point. The great (I) middle will lean either way very quickly. Of course, the (R) are in disarray now but its very early in the cycle of the game's time clock.

Since neither thing is going to happen, I still think a new centrist/rationalist party could change the game within 2 decades. It would require some big names and big money to lay it on the line for the long haul, though.

I am quite unsure if a third party can ever emerge from the American political landscape. There is simply too much pressure to compete at the highest level. (8000 plus high paying patronage jobs...) A slow build up cannot succeed as political entropy assures us that every party eventually succumbs to the stupid therefore alienating the reasonable (I).

Sadly, I think we are stuck with a two horse race.

From the anals (sic) of Ray Comfort:

Comfort: "So you are an atheist. Do you then believe that nothing created everything, which is a scientific impossibility?"
Atheist: "No."
Comfort: "So you believe that something created everything?"
Atheist: "Yes."
Comfort: "Then you're not an atheist."
Ex-atheist: "OK."

Applying the same principles as in Anselm's ontological argument, I deduce that Ray Comfort is a person sillier than which nobody can be conceived.

re: #200 experiencedtraveller

I think we are stuck with a two horse race.

The election rules for President favor a two-party system. The winner needs a majority of electoral votes, not just a plurality. If no one gets a majority it goes to a one vote per State election in the House where a majority is required. That makes the chances for a 3rd party candidate of winning the Presidency less than remote.

On scores of websites and in dozens of books with titles like The Evolution Deceit and The Dark Face of Darwinism, a new and well-funded version of evolution-denialism, carefully calibrated to exploit the current fashion for religiously inspired attacks on scientific orthodoxy and “militant” atheism, seems to have found its voice. In a recent interview with The Times Richard Dawkins himself recognises the impact of this new phenomenon: “There has been a sharp upturn in hostility to teaching evolution in the classroom and it’s mostly coming from Islamic students.”
The patron saint of this new movement, the ubiquitous “expert” cited and referenced by those eager to demonstrate the superiority of “Koranic science” over “the evolution lie”, is the larger-than-life figure of Harun Yahya...

Common sweet banana is a mutation from wild varieties which are not as sweet; furthermore, the varieties we eat have been bred so that the seeds are miniscule in size compared to the natural species.

When my family lived on Okinawa, we had a wild banana tree in our backyard -- the fruits tasted okay, but were only about three inches long at maturity, and had multiple seeds about the size of dried peas.

I have a special program on my computer that allows me to force a server to "reverse time", for lack of a better explanation. I ran it on the hate site and found the deleted comment:

I picture RS McCain strutting around his study, whacking a gutta-percha cane against the furniture, wondering, since he has a persona to maintain, if 'craven' or 'dishonorable' will sting more.

Thermoplastic or Union cases, also called Gutta Percha, were often used to house Daguerreotypes:

What are those hard plastic cases called?
A "Union Case" and is an example of an early thermoplastic technology, being produced from about 1855 to 1865. Some people call them gutta-percha cases but that is not a correct term, better being "thermoplastic case" or, as we use, a "Union Case". Littlefield, Parsons & Co. was one such case manufacturers. A mixture of shellac and wood fibers were pressed into a steel mold. And to think we thought "plastics" were new in the 1950s, look at the quality they achieved in the 1850s!

...I still think a new centrist/rationalist party could change the game within 2 decades.

If you convinced a substantial fraction of the nonwhite vote that neither major party has their interests at heart, you might get a third party rolling that would eventually replace the GOP or Democrats.

That scenario seems unlikely, but so did the idea of Catholic Republicans not too many decades ago.

The banana video is of course, amazing. I'm really appreciating God's foresight in curving the banana TOWARDS the face...and not away from it, as might have been the case in a Godless universe./

Speaking of which, I wonder how the IDers would feel if they realised that their arguments about the banana also apply to the penis...and prove that there must have been an Intelligent Designer who designed it for fellatio?

Behold the creationist's nightmare!

Now if you study a well made penis you'll discover on the far side, there is a ridge, on the close side another. The penis and the hand are perfectly made one for the other.

You'll find the maker of the penis, Almighty God, has made it with a non slip surface

Now if you go to the top of the penis, you'll find as the soda can makers have placed a tab at the top, so God has placed a tab at the top. When you pull the tab, the contents may or may not squirt in your face.

Notice how gracefully it sits over the human hand. Notice it's just the right shape for the human mouth--- it's even curved towards the face to make the whole process so much easier. Seriously Kirk the whole of creation testifies to the genius of God's creativity.

Obama campaign spokesperson screamed and cursed NYT reporter in successful effort to kill ACORN

In an e-mail message to whistleblower MonCrief last summer, New York Times reporter Stephanie Strom told the truth: “The real story to all this is how these myriad entities allow them to shuffle money around so much that no one really knows what’s getting spent on what.”

By October 6, 2008, Strom had thrown in the towel in the wake of blistering phone conversations with the Obama campaign. She wrote:

“I’m calling a halt to my efforts. I just had two unpleasant calls with the Obama campaign, wherein the spokesman was screaming and yelling and cursing me, calling me a rightwing nut and a conspiracy theorist and everything else…I’d still like to get that file from you when you have a chance to send it. One of these days, the truth is going to come out.”

Has RSM offered any explanation for or denial of the interracial marriage quotes from the NY Press article? He's so long winded that I may have overlooked a specific reply to that.

If I might offer an explanation, but probably not one Mr. McCain would favor.

Given that the standard scientific explanation of the various diverse human groups includes an element of sexual selection, it's not surprising that some people tend to find members of the group to which they happen to belong more attractive than members of other groups. As you might recall, sexual selection affects both the genes responsible for producing a particularly attractive phenotype, and the genes responsible for finding that phenotype attractive. (This is how we end up with, for example, tropical birds with ridiculously long tailfeathers, when such feathers might otherwise be a selective disadvantage, by making it harder for the bird to fly and escape predation.) So over the millenia since Homo sapiens emerged, various isolated human groups have chased their own standards of attractiveness, resulting in the diversity we have today.

This guy on the banana kick is just apples. Or nuts. Or bananas. Whatever. The banana is as much a naturally occurring fruit as the Hershey candy bar. Like the candy bar, it has a wrapper, it packs in a lot of calories, it's sweet, and it tastes good.

Like the candy bar, we have a history, written down by particular individuals, spelling out how the banana came to be, who was responsible for the various improvements on the underlying naturally occurring ingredients, and so forth.

Bananas didn't exist 500 years ago. There were plantains, but they're no more bananas than cocoa beans are candy bars.

I half jest:

Rennet (pronounced /ˈrɛnɪt/) is a natural complex of enzymes produced in any mammalian stomach to digest the mother's milk, and is often used in the production of cheese. Rennet contains many enzymes, including a proteolytic enzyme (protease) that coagulates the milk, causing it to separate into solids (curds) and liquid (whey). The active enzyme in rennet is called chymosin or rennin (EC 3.4.23.4) but there are also other important enzymes in it, e.g., pepsin or lipase. There are non-animal sources for rennet that are suitable for vegetarian consumption.

The stomach acids are used to coagulate then separate the solids. The mold comes later.

Good evening, LGF.
There are plenty of bigots and racists in America, both white and black. But Jimmy Carter, bigot and media whore extraordinaire, has played the race card to get himself some front page media exposure. I predict that he will be thrown under the bus just as soon as President Obama realizes that Carter is a self-promoting son of a bitch who can only do Obama political harm with his ugly racial whining.

Obama has already said that he doesn't think Carter is correct about the race thing.

But there's a limit, I think, to how rude you can be to an ex-president, when you're the president.

Ruh-Roh. I just got my DTaP shot today. I wonder if they injected guvmint mind kontrol with it?

Lizards--if you haven't had a DTaP as an adult, please go get one. Pertussis is making a comeback, and while it (very) rarely kills adults, it does cause a nasty, persistant cough.

I got my pneumovax a couple of months ago, and a new MMR because I've gone back to school and the university required it.

I should start hearing commands from the White House from my mercury amalgam fillings any day now, I suppose.///

Do not fear! They only shot the Proteus into your body.

Raquel Welch should be somewhere in your bloodstream.

[Link: blogs.myspace.com...]

Look, I get it, "real America." After an eight-year run of controlling the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court, this latest election has you feeling like a rejected husband. You've come home to find your things out on the front lawn -- or at least more things than you usually keep out on the front lawn. You're not ready to let go, but the country you love is moving on. And now you want to call it a whore and key its car.

That's what you are, the bitter divorced guy whose country has left him -- obsessing over it, haranguing it, blubbering one minute about how much you love it and vowing the next that if you cannot have it, nobody will.

But it's been almost 100 days, and your country is not coming back to you. She's found somebody new. And it's a black guy.

There's a new tax in DC on plastic grocery bags, I think five cents per bag. It's supposed to help clean trash in the Potomac and Anacostia rivers. I don't live in DC, so it doesn't affect me. But I bike along the Anacostia trail a lot. I guess this means I can throw now toss all of my plastic bags into the Anacostia now since the tax will take care of that. Thanks DC government!

The doctor said, 'Bill, the good news is I can cure your headaches. The bad news is that it will require castration. You have a very rare condition, which causes your testicles to press on your spine and the pressure creates one hell of a headache. The only way to relieve the pressure is to remove the testicles.'

Bill was shocked and depressed. He wondered if he had anything to live for. He had no choice but to go under the knife. When he left the hospital, he was without a headache for the first time in 20 years, but he felt like he was missing an important part of himself.

As he walked down the street, he realized that he felt like a different person. He could make a new beginning and live a new life.

He saw a men's clothing store and thought, 'That's what I need... A new suit.' He entered the shop and told the salesman, 'I'd like a new suit.' The elderly tailor eyed him briefly and said, 'Let's see ... Size 44 Long.' Bill laughed, 'That's right, how did you know? 'Been in the business 60 years!' the tailor said.

Bill tried on the suit, it fit perfectly. As Bill admired himself in the mirror, The salesman asked, 'How about a new shirt?'
Bill thought for a moment and then said, 'Sure.' The salesman eyed Bill and said, 'Let's see, 34 sleeves and 16-1/2 neck.' Bill was surprised, 'That's right, how did you know?' 'Been in the business 60 years.' Bill tried on the shirt and it fit perfectly.

Bill walked comfortably around the shop, and the salesman asked, 'How about some new underwear?' Bill thought for a moment and said, 'Sure.' The salesman said, 'Let's see...Size 36.' Bill laughed, 'Ah ha! I got you; I've worn a size 34 since I was 18 years old.'

The salesman shook his head, 'You can't wear a size 34. A size 34 would press your testicles up against the base of your spine and give you one hell of a headache.'

New shirt - $36
New underwear - $6

Lemonade with or without sugar? I cannot believe the amount of sugar added to the non-candy food we eat. Look at high-end brands of spaghetti sauce. It's like a half serving of ice cream! Good lord. And the goddess-damn salt. It's not the pre-electricity era anymore. We don't need salt to preserve our food (not with the chemical additives anyway). Jeez. CIA boss asks US Muslims to aid anti-terror effort

"Himmler asks Jews to cooperate." Difference is, Muslims got the sacks my fellow Jews during the Holocaust didn't. Actually, I'm re-watching the miniseries "Holocaust" right now. Saw it as a kid. As an adult, quite versed in WWII and the various personalities beyond the biggies, it's astonishingly accurate. Whoever wrote the screenplay is amazing. Star-studded cast too, including Meryl Streep, James Woods, Michael Moriarty (ex Law & Order D.A. who went nutz, developed a persecution complex, and fled to Europe a decade ago), and Tovah Feldshuh, whom I had a crush on after originally seeing the miniseries (she also had cameos in L&O). When I first got it on VHS a few years ago, I played it for my Bulgarian girlfriend at the time. I broke down sobbing about how embarrassed I was that "we" (my fellow Jews) never fought back or stood up for themselves and she told me that she understood how I felt because Bulgarians are considered akin to the Jews of the Balkans.

**Rrriiinnnggg, rrriiinnngg,**

'Hello?'

'Hi honey. This is Daddy.
Is Mommy near the phone?'

'No Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom
with Uncle Paul.'

After a brief pause, Daddy says, 'But honey, you haven't got
an Uncle Paul.'

'Oh yes I do, and he's upstairs in the room with Mommy, right now.'

Brief Pause.

'Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do...
Put the phone down on the table; run upstairs and knock on the bedroom door; and shout to Mommy that Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.'

'Okay Daddy; just a minute.'

A few minutes later, the little girl comes back to the phone.

'I did it Daddy.'

'And what happened honey?'

'Well, Mommy got all scared; jumped out of bed with no clothes on; and ran around screaming.

Then she tripped over the rug; hit her head on the dresser; and now she isn't moving at all!'

'Oh my God!!!
What about your Uncle Paul?'

'He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on, too. He was all scared and he jumped out of the back window into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know that you took out the water last week to clean it.

He hit the bottom of the pool and I think he's dead.'

*** Long Pause ***

*** Longer Pause ***

*** Even Longer Pause ***

Then Daddy says,

'Swimming pool?

Is this 555-5731?'

Of course Darwin is wrong.

For centuries, it's been known that the metaphysical, theological, and cosmogonic arguments against evolution are irrefutable:

Pangloss was professor of metaphysico-theologico-cosmolo-nigology. He
proved admirably that there is no effect without a cause, and that, in
this best of all possible worlds, the Baron's castle was the most
magnificent of castles, and his lady the best of all possible
Baronesses.

"It is demonstrable," said he, "that things cannot be otherwise than as
they are; for all being created for an end, all is necessarily for the
best end. Observe, that the nose has been formed to bear
spectacles--thus we have spectacles. Legs are visibly designed for
stockings--and we have stockings. Stones were made to be hewn, and to
construct castles--therefore my lord has a magnificent castle; for the
greatest baron in the province ought to be the best lodged. Pigs were
made to be eaten--therefore we eat pork all the year round. Consequently
they who assert that all is well have said a foolish thing, they should
have said all is for the best."

QED.

If Pangloss were alive today, think what the Discovery Institute would pay him.
*** *** ***
I should say that "Darwin" is "wrong." My researches have shewn that On the Origin of Species in truth was authored by Francis Bacon. The work was deliberately constructed so as to divert the credulous literal reader away from the deep allegory encrypted therein.

"A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Tesco's customers.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works:

Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start wiping your windscreen with a rag and Windolene, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look.

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Tesco's. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you. While you're busy having your way with the first one, the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen on May 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, & 24th 29th. Also June 1st, 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, 27th, three times last Saturday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

There is a very, very tall coconut tree and there are 4 animals, Lion, Chimp, Giraffe and Squirrel.

They decide to compete to see who is the fastest to get a banana off the tree. Who do you guess will win?

Your answer will reflect your personality.

So think carefully . . .. Try and answer within 30 seconds !!!

Got your answer?

Now scroll down to see the analysis.

If your answer is:

Lion = you're dull.
Chimpanzee = you're a moron.
Giraffe = you're a complete idiot.
Squirrel = you're just hopelessly stupid.

A COCONUT TREE DOESN'T HAVE BANANAS.

Two Priests decided to go on holiday together. They were determined to make this a real vacation by not wearing anything that would identify them as clergy.

As soon as the plane landed they headed for a store and bought some really outrageous shorts, shirts, sandals, sunglasses, etc.

The next morning they went to the beach dressed in their 'tourist' garb. They were sitting on beach chairs, enjoying a drink, the sunshine and the scenery when a 'drop dead gorgeous' blonde in a topless bikini came walking straight towards them.

They couldn't help but stare. As the blonde passed them she smiled and said 'Good Morning, Father ~ Good Morning, Father,'
nodding and addressing each of them individually, then she passed on by.

They were both stunned.

How in the world did she know they were priests?

So the next day, they went back to the store and bought even more outrageous outfits. These were so loud you could hear them before you even saw them! Once again, in their new attire, they settled down in their chairs to enjoy the sunshine.

After a little while, the same gorgeous blonde, wearing a different coloured topless bikini, taking her sweet time, came walking toward them.

Again she nodded at each of them, said 'Good morning, Father ~ Good morning, Father,' and started to walk away.

One of the priests couldn't stand it any longer and said, 'Just a minute, young lady.'

'Yes, Father?'

'We are priests and proud of it, but I have to know, how in the world do you know we are priests, dressed as we are?'

She replied,

'Father, it's me, Sister Kathleen.'

To be accurate, it's a man-made selection from one of many naturally occurring variants.

Other debil fruit: seedless grapes and seedless watermelons.

Of the one out of four, how many are the four out of? It's one of those questions bound to come up if anyone tries using these videos as actual evidence of wrongdoing.

A huge problem with this whole story is that the source is grinding an ideological ax, and the inevitable resulting bias has to be taken into account. And as more details are becoming available, it's looking uncomfortably as though they're the Right-wing equivalent of Michael Moore.

I'd love to see ACORN dismantled, but it isn't helping that some of this "evidence" looks like it's been cooked. As such, it may well wind up boosting ACORN's standing in the long run, especially if the implied wrongdoing turns out to be false in any way.

I don't know if this has been stated already, but using a banana to tout creationism is absolutely histerical. For those of you who don't already know, a banana is developed by selective cross polination of different kinds of Plantains. In short, it is here precisely because evolution is in fact reality. Of all of the reasons to laugh out loud at creationists, this is my very favorite. Thank you Charles for posting it.

I just can't believe they put that PZ Meyers quote in the WND article. He is explicitly calling the author an idiot, and they place it in the story as if it's laudatory. Are the writers of WND so stupid that they don't understand what the quote says? Or are they figuring that their readers are just too dumb to figure it out? I guess using logic to try and interpret a WND article is my primary mistake.

re: #419 Desert Dog

You know, it was not bad...I have not been craving it since, but it was not too bad.

FYI for the non-Scots, Haggis is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours.

But its delicious!

I'm not as fond of black pudding, though its not bad with scallops.
