Looks like I’ve replaced Andrew Sullivan as the most hated blogger, which is quite an accomplishment. I’d like to thank the wonderful folks who voted me the sixth most despised “right wing” figure, equally as repulsive as Pat “Hitler wasn’t so bad” Buchanan, and much more disgusting than Ron Paul, Mark Sanford, or Pat Robertson: Right-Of-Center Bloggers Select Their Least Favorite People On The Right.

It will be difficult, but I’ll do my best to live up to this honor.

I recognize 3 blogs on this list. A bunch of Nobodies don't like Charles. Maybe when they've done something note worthy, I'll give two sh*ts what they think.

21 SixDegrees  Fri, Sep 25, 2009 1:47:58pm

I noticed that the ad revenue at my web site has surged in recent weeks to a stunning $2.00 per day - almost. I'm sure this is due to the tsunami of traffic leaving LGF and washing over the rest of the Internet. Thank you, Charles, for padding my retirement with your collapse!

The fact that the right wing blogosphere, as a whole, doesn't recognize this as a serious problem should sort of clue them into the fact that this really ought to be a serious problem for them.

Maybe that is too logical for them?

23 Guanxi88  Fri, Sep 25, 2009 1:48:24pm

If you can make enemies like these, you're doing something right, Chief. And I gotta say, they picked some (at least to me) fairly obscure folk to do the ranking.

24 Kragar  Fri, Sep 25, 2009 1:49:15pm

Right Wing News emailed more than 260 right-of-center bloggers and asked them to send us a list of people they considered to be the least liked and respected people who were generally thought to be on the Right. Representatives from the following 52 blogs responded…

Which also means 80% of those asked didn't give "Right wing news" the time of day.

Yes because, according to them, if McCain had been reallly conservative, he would have trounced Obama. Obviously people were voting based on conservative values which is why Obama won...

...or something like that.

It never made sense to me either but then again, I am a rational person who doesn't believe the world is six thousand years old. Perhaps that's my problem.

OT, but this line from VDH in NJDhockeyfan's spin-off link was great(!) yet sobering...kind of like Charles' dubious honor.

Russia and China — the former recently appeased by the missile deal, the latter recently rebuffed with the tire tariff — are flush with cash and enjoy the notion that Iran bothers us more than it does them; they have not yet been hope-and-changed into helping Obama with his grand vision on the grounds that he is not Bush. Some look at our president and see a messiah; these two see a rookie in charge of a now-bankrupt country with $2-trillion-a-year deficits that is unsure what to do in two wars and in dire need of both imported oil and trillions in cash.

Back on-topic:

Congrats, Charles. For once in history, it may have been more of an honor just to be nominated.

America needs new heros from days of old to slay the dragons of communism and black folks who are not American and likely commie muslims...

Out of the mythic past comes a mighty band of heroes!

Sir Glenn, frogsbane, knight of the sorrowful countenance...

Baron Huckabee, a great lord, famous for eating squirrels and evil heretic Darwinists.

Squire Jindal, He is not quite a knight, but he is trying...

St Sarah, Moose slayer, an illiterate peasant girl who heard heavenly voices tell her to raise up a great Crusade.

They are blessed, by the Mad Prophet Limbagh, whose mighty cigars and great pronouncements inspire the masses to battle - and allowed him to forgive that squire Jindal is disturbingly well brown...

205 Martinsmithy  Fri, Sep 25, 2009 2:47:08pm

It's interesting, to hear the right-wing cries of "betrayal" at Charles' alleged 180 degree turn to the left.

What are the issues on which Charles has allegedly turned?

1. Creationism - I think the first time Charles brought up this issue was in reference to Ben Stein's ridiculous film "Expelled" - and he pointed out its ridiculousness pretty quickly. I don't remember "creationism" coming up in an LGF thread before that.

VERDICT: No evidence of any change of viewpoint by Charles.

2. Global Warming and Climate Change - In looking back at the earliest tags on this subject, Charles was pointing out that climate change skeptics were being persecuted and slimed by the left instead of being argued with fairly with facts and counter-facts. It's probable that once Charles looked more closely at the data himself he became convinced that the climate change skeptics and deniers were wrong, and were using disingenuous and slimy tactics of their own.

VERDICT: Agreeing that climate change is occurring doesn't mean agreeing with Al Gore. Evidence of any change of position by Charles on this issue is extremely circumstantial and dubious.

3. Danger of Islamo-fascism in Europe vs. danger of far-right European political forces.

I think it is fair to say that, prior to October 2007, when the whole Vlaams Belang fracas broke out, Charles was generally sympathetic to and uncritical of the forces fighting Islamicism of Europe. But I don't remember him going out of his way to laud the likes of the British National Party, Vlaams Belang, the Swedish Democrats, Jean Marie Le-Pen, and Jorg Haider. I credit Charles' explanation that he was provided new and compelling evidence about the shady roots and shady current policies of these parties, and I laud him for not sweeping this stuff under the rug.

The most shocking part of this whole affair has been that Charles' opponents haven't taken the line that, while distasteful, alliance with such groups is necessary to combat Islam. Robert Spencer, Gates of Vienna, Pam Geller, and others instead have openly glorified these neo-fascists as true European heroes and patriots! And by doing so they've shown their true colors.

VERDICT: Any change of opinion by Charles on this issue is justified by evidence made available to him, and has been validated by the shrieking response of his former allies and the continued disreputable policies advocated by the European neo-fascists.

Meanwhile, we read on the last thread: "[Charles] did as much as any Israeli intelligence officer did" with his exposé of Reuters fauxtography in the Lebanon war.

Who said that? Ron Dermer, senior adviser to the Israeli prime minister, Bibi Netanyahu, said that.

All I gotta say is:
1. In general, you're not in bad company on that list. Radicals hate moderates.
2. If you're important enough to hate, that's better than being ignored.
3. They say a successfully negotiated deal is the one that leaves everyone unhappy. There must be some corollary that applies here.

Krauthammer on Obama’s lack of response to the McChrystal memo on Afghanistan:

Well, I think what's really important here are two dates. The first is August 30. That's when the McChrystal report was sent to Washington. That is three weeks ago. Obama has had a single meeting [on that report] since then.

He says he hasn't reached a conclusion — I suppose because he is spending all his time preparing for Letterman and speeches to schoolchildren — to focus on a war in which our soldiers are in the field getting shot at and, as the president himself is saying, without a strategy.

Now, the other date is the 27th of March, when Obama gave a speech in the White House flanked by his Secretaries of Defense and State, in which he said, and I will read you this, because it is as if it never happened, "Today I'm announcing a comprehensive new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan."

So we for six months have been living under the new Obama strategy, of which he says today we have none. And his next sentence is, again in March, "This marks the conclusion of a careful policy review" — not the beginning, the end of the policy review.

So it has been his policy, and now he tells us we don't have a cart and we don't have a horse.

What's happening here is he announced the strategy of counterinsurgency in March. He said at the time that we “cannot afford” an “Afghanistan that slides [back] into chaos.”

He said "My message to the terrorists who oppose us — We will defeat you," And now he's not sure he wants to defeat them.

But the ACLU successfully defended the Skokie march, and they successfully defended the Iraqi fallen soldier funeral protests.

It's the price we pay for living in a free speech open society democracy.

And as heinous as such people's opinions are, and however much it might distress us to be subjected to them, the cost of living in a society where free speech is not permitted are far more dire.

Well if the 2000-2006 GOP hadn't fucked everything up, setting up the perfect storm for Obama (who would've beaten any Republican), we wouldn't be here.

Those douchebags are Paleolibertarians though. If McCain had won, Lew Rockwell would be calling for secession as well. If he did not do it during the Bush administration I'd be shocked.

The difference is that no Republican would be giving him the time of day if McCain was president now.

I've been honking on this issue for a long time now: these people are anarchists. I've read their writings, I know who they revere (Rothbard) and their ultimate goal is anarchy... anarcho-capitalism, as they call it... a moronic oxymoron if there ever was one. Whether they advocate neo-confederate causes as a cover for their anarchist dreams or vice versa, I still have not figured out though.

In contast, the Unabomber and some of the Deep Ecology types advocate anarcho-primitivism.

Try dropping even a mildly negative comment about a Coulter column over at Malkin's site, or at Hot Air, and see what kind of reaction you get.

I'll be over here with a bucket of burn ointment.

Wow.

Racist palocon nutjob Lew Rockwell on Fox News with Judge Napolitano, advocating secession.

Before the sun sets... I foolishly decided to watch this evil shit.

The nullification crisis resolved that a little differently huh? And all questions of secession got put to rest in 1865 - and at what cost?

This is nothing more than a vile and disingenuous attempt to justify treason. And to what end? For what purpose?

Why because the president campaigned for someone - as if that is new in our over 200 year history?

So a quick question for these sick motherfuckers... You hate America so much that you want to tear it apart and advocate treason? Then guess what - get the fuck out of my country, or when it comes down to it, you will find me with a rifle in my hands fighting for her.

- Ohhh and the federal government ended fugitive slave nullification with Dred Scott... easily the worst decision in supreme court history. they really are lying prevaricating, equivocating sacks of shit.

and with that... good Shabbos.

I'd be surprised if more than a single digit percentage of Luap Nor's Johnny-come-lately supporters (including the ones that thought he was Satan just last year) even know what an Anarcho-capitalist is.

The tea party crowd is not going to call them out, and GOP pols are too busy pandering to those kooks to remember booing Luap Nor off the stage last year.

Gaddafi's translator 'collapsed with exhaustion' during his UN rant

Colonel Gaddafi's bizarre rant at the UN was met with yawns and disbelief by delegates.

But it was too much for the eccentric Libyan leader's translator who is said to have collapsed with exhaustion during the lengthy diatribe.

The beleaguered interpreter cried 'I just can’t take it any more,' into a live microphone in Arabic after 75 minutes of Gaddafi's ramblings.

He was replaced by the UN’s Arabic section chief, Rasha Ajalyaqeen, who translated the final 20 minutes of the speech.

'His interpreter just collapsed – this is the first time I have seen this in 25 years,' a UN Arabic interpreter told The New York Post.

To cull a bit from others' posts, this is more than a bit off kilter considering who is doing the "hatin' and respecting" in the group. If one is most hated among that bunch it's sadly not a bad thing at all.

I have a friend from college who has since gone haywire and become a health bureaucrat of the worst kind, and he posted some survey listing the US as 37th in the world in providing health care ... and I had to ask him, "by what criteria"? Not saying we're first, or perfect, but it's time we drop the fronts a little lower and focus on facts. Facts are friendly.

Going to Folsom Street Fair while horny seems like a really unwise idea in the same way as going to the grand opening of an Asian mega-supermarket while hungry. ("Wow, I can't believe I actually paid $7 for a package of frozen pig anuses just because it was marked down to $0.89/lb.")

Yes, they really do sell 'em at some Asian markets -- often under the name "pork bungs". Though thankfully I've never seen the Hi, twy f'ee samper? ladies offering sauteed pig anuses on toothpicks with a spicy-garlic-anchovy marinade that makes absolutely everything taste good.

Interesting that many of the site polled link to Euro-fascist sites. One being the famed hate-site "Gates of Vienna."

It's also interesting how John McCain came out second. Shows you the ignorant mentality we're dealing with. One of the reason Obama was elected was because of the ignorance exemplified here.

In their 2005 Least Favorite People we could find Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Now they are their favorites. But apparently, none of them ever liked John McCain, despite that whole, you know, war hero thing. Being a soulless drug addict beats actually fighting for freedom. Go figure.
