Hot Air Comments of the Day

Blogosphere • Views: 3,541

Here’s our latest installment of a new recurring feature — the most disgusting comments recently posted at Hot Air, and not deleted or even disapproved of by the “moderators.” There’s an endless stream of this kind of hate speech at Hot Air, and I don’t expect we’ll run out of material very soon. (Thanks to the LGF readers who helped point out today’s batch of ugliness.)

Hot Air Blog Archive Dems worried low turnout among black voters will lose them the House

Wait a sec. Are they worried about the colored folks escaping the Uncle Sam’s Plantation (a.k.a the DNC) or that they’re just living up to the stereotype of being shiftless and lazy?

If she says this about him being a plantation owner can we really say what we think she is?

I’d tell you but I’d have to say an old south word that only blacks are allowed to say about other blacks.

Let’s just say she’s a racist ________(insert appropriate name or slang term here)______.

Let’s not forget the hundreds of comments previously posted, calling Michelle Obama a “wookie.” (It’s a sleazy way to call Michelle Obama an “ape,” without actually using that word.)

And of course, the comments I pointed out yesterday, calling me a “child molester,” are still posted and those commenters have not been blocked.

Stay classy, Hot Air!

This is just disgusting. I wonder if the level of misogyny raised during the election with Hillary and then growing greater with Sarah somehow gave people the impression it was culturally acceptable to belittle women in this way, because it seems misogynistic attacks are fashionable at hot air.

I don't know anything about who runs Hot Air, or any of the other sites that are mentioned here. But there are only three things that the site owner of Hot Air can possibly do considering the fact that the site evidently has become a breeding ground of obscene and fully racist commenters.

1) Start policing his site and delete these kinds of comments.
2) Make a plain and simple rule about posting this sort of trash.
3) Or shut the site down.

It's really simple. If he/she cannot fails to do this, then there is only one assumption left, that the owner condones this sort of thinking.

This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. I would remove anyone from my home if they talked like this, the owner of Hot Air can remove these comments. If the owner of Hot Air does not agree with this sort of rhetoric, then the options are clear and defined.

Stop it or shut it down.

Hot Air armchair revolutionaries:

October 6, 2009 at 6:10 PM

Can we kindly have a Waco incident so we can start the rebellion NOW?

October 7, 2009 at 11:54 PM

This is why we are headed for civil war. The libs have no interest in anything but total control over your life and the destruction of capitalism/profit. They must be stopped by any means necessary. Liberals hate freedom and individualism…I say again…THEY MUST BE STOPPED!

October 7, 2009 at 5:07 PM

First it was carbon dioxide, now it is oxygen. Next it will be neon, which is gonna really screw up the lighting down at the bar. Maybe, just maybe, that will be enough to trigger the revolt.

October 8, 2009 at 12:20 AM

Here is how I envision a civil war beginning.

1.A destructive health care bill, Cap and Trade and a version of the Fairness Doctrine pass.
2.The Democrats retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections, with suspicion of significant voter fraud.
3.The economy continues to deteriorate, and unemployment continues to rise.
4.A protest is put down violently.

October 8, 2009 at 1:20 AM

Not bad.

Definitely agree that an imploding USD/economy will be part of it.

The real trigger for rebellion will be when gas prices skyrocket with food and Obama tries to restrict speech and take away guns or stop the internet.

HotAir seems to be suffering from the same issue their readers suffer from - anger at the messenger, not at what is actually going on. The readers are not upset with the meltdown of the GOP, they are upset with LGF for pointing it out. HotAir isn't nearly as upset with the vile comments left by their readers as they are angry with whoever points it out to them.

I'm a little more optimistic about the Republican Party as an entity (although not the current lack of principled leadership). The craziest factions of parties get louder when they sense an opportunity to reposition after a loss. This happened with the Dems too. Eventually the grownups will decide where to send their checks and who to vote for and all of the smoke and light (with no heat) will clear. The basement radicals will continue to seek their 15 minutes of fame, but I seriously doubt bloggers will define either political party's center mass.

One of the most controversial posts I ever was about slavery and continued veneration of Confederate heroes.

The comments on the post, Discomfort of Southern Insight are most interesting. The justification for the Confederacy and the minimization of the impact of slavery astonished me.

It's a mystery to me.

No mystery...they want the GOP to be a stereotypical "good ol' boys" club, where it's fashionable to be openly racist and bigoted, but with a "respectable" veneer for the public...they get mad when the light gets shone on them.

Good post. I think it is going to take at least one electron cycle for Republican party to reorganize. The Democratic party was pulled in several different directions after the 2000 election and was still in the process of redefining itself in 2004. We're sort of seeing a mirror image of that. In 2000, the far left were upset and shrill, and now it is the far right wing that is agitated not unlike after Clinton's election in 1992.

One possible indicator of how things are going to go is the mid-term election. The 1994 brought in a lot of freshmen Republicans and the Contract with America. While the Contract contained some social conservative planks, it also contained some planks attractive to fiscal conservatives, as well as the fairly radical notion of congressional term limits. Right now, however, the Republican party seems to be in disarray. If they can't shout down the crazies then they won't be able to make up many seats in congress. Republican control of congress had a moderating effect on Clinton's presidency. I'd like to see a center-right coalition form to keep the Obama administration in the center, as well.

AP sources: al-Qaida's Afghan head contacted Zazi

The airport shuttle driver accused of plotting a bombing in New York had contacts with al-Qaida that went nearly all the way to the top, to an Osama bin Laden confidant believed to be the terrorist group's leader in Afghanistan, U.S. intelligence officials told The Associated Press.

Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, an Egyptian reputed to be one of the founders of the terrorist network, used a middleman to contact Afghan immigrant Najibullah Zazi as the 24-year-old man hatched a plot to use homemade backpack bombs, perhaps on the city's mass transit system, the two intelligence officials said.

Intelligence officials declined to discuss the nature of the contact or whether al-Yazid contacted Zazi to offer simple encouragement or help with the bombing plot prosecutors say Zazi was pursuing.

Al-Yazid's contact with Zazi indicates that al-Qaida leadership took an intense interest in what U.S. officials have called one of the most serious terrorism threats crafted on U.S. soil since the 9/11 attacks.

Speaking of racists, I decided to check out Buchanan's site...

Wow.

The top article is copied from Rockwell's site and is written by Eric Margolis, and the topic is supposedly Afghanistan (and how we shouldn't be there.)

Get this:

[...] Osama bin Laden, on whom 9/11 is blamed, was in Afghanistan as a guest because he was a national hero for fighting the Soviets in the 1980’s and was aiding Taliban’s struggle against the Afghan Communist-dominated Northern Alliance afterwards.

The following two paragraphs are essentially a defense of Osama's innocence. The proceeding paragraphs basically say that the attacks were planned in Germany and Spain (and yes, technically planning happened there), but then ignores any other evidence or states who was behind the attack!

Living in the South has tempered my Union zeal and given me a more sympatheic view of the plight of the confederacy. The Civil War series by Ken Burns does a good job of a balanced view without glorifying the war. I also liked Jeff Shahara's "Gone for Soliders" and the rest of the war novels he and his father wrote that gave a sympathetic view of the dilemna many Southern millitary men faced being citizens of their State's and not necessarily identifying as strongly with the Union. Lee is a particularly poignent figure with his wrestling with the decision to serve the Union.

Slavery however was an evil that the entire country was righteously punished for. No less a man than Abraham Lincoln recognized this in the Gettysburg Address

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal...

...But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract.

...and the Second Inagural Address:

...If we shall suppose that American slavery is one of those offenses which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South this terrible war as the woe due to those by whom the offense came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a living God always ascribe to Him? Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."

Hi Guan! Yep, the Kerrville area. I'm ecstatic about the rain! It's been so dry here for so long that it's wonderful to see a little green here and there. There are a number of moderate dems who came in with Obama or in '06, but they don't have the power yet.

Went over there, looked at the headline, can't read. I have a half-day off, and I'm gonna finish lunch, chat here, and then take a nap with my dearest.

I think I know the drill:

1. White people didn't invent it.
2. Black people sold us the black people anyway! Did you KNOW THAT?
3. Being a slave wasn't that bad.
4. Some black people fought for the Confederacy! And the Confederacy was about STATES RIGHTS. Although we're damn proud that it was the Republican Party under Abe Lincoln that opposed those states rights. We think.
5. Besides, it's all the Arabs' fault, 'cause we can't say Jews any more.
6. Anyway, no one should be bringing it up in this day and age. Now black people get all these advantages. And it's the Democrats' fault. And liberals are the real racists.

If they come up with anything new and original, will you let us know?

BTW, little story about Katz' Deli. A friend from Fredericksburg was over in Austin, and stopped in at Katz. Decided to have a sandwich in the bar. There was one other customer in there, a really attractive lady. He said hi, sat down, and ordered his sandwich. They started talking, and he ended up chatting with her for an hour or so. She had a office near by, and loved the place for lunch.

A few days later, his wife was watching "Last of the Mohicans" and he walked by, took a look and asked "who's that woman"? His wife said, "That's Madeline Stowe. Why?"

"Uh, no reason," my friend said. (Yep, he'd just found out who he'd been talking to all that time at Katz.)

Have you ever seen, up live and personal, the Roman theaters and odeons peppered around Europe. Absolutely fascinating places.

There is actually one reason for me to visit Jordan. I've heard this is very impressive.

Ancient Roman Re-enactment

The only genuine Roman show to be found in the world today, it is a truly exciting and unique historic experience, especially for those enamoured with the history of ancient Rome. A living testimony to its majestic past, visitors can experience a Roman army performance in this ancient and magnificently preserved Roman city.

Here, visitors can sit where the Romans once sat and see what the Romans once saw.

Jerash, previously known as the Roman city of Gerasa, is approximately a fifty-minute drive to the north from Amman, Jordan's capital and displays some of the finest, most extensive and best preserved remains of the Roman Empire.

After excavations began in 1925 a well-preserved Greco-Roman city emerged. Ancient city walls enclosing colonnaded paved streets with chariot tracks worn in the original stone, a dramatic oval plaza defined by a colonnade of Ionic columns, a complex of baths, theatres, the temples of Dionysus, Artemis and Zeus, and a superb hippodrome, after being covered with rubble and sand for a millennium again saw the light of day. 500 seats from the 15,000 in Roman times have been restored.

Today the restored monumental hippodrome, for the first time in over a thousand years, features spectator Roman events - an authentic replica of Roman life and enjoyment. The aim is to give visitors a thrilling glimpse of the spectacle as experienced by the citizens of the ancient city.

Because the post is trying (and failing) to show DNC racism.

By the DNC being worried about black voters not turning out for mid-term elections, is a backhanded way of saying they only voted in the last election because of Obama, that they have no other interest in politics or because they are lazy.

The way I read it, the poster wasn't saying those were his views. That's why "colored people" is in italics in the original post.

Do you mean why do I think that race may play a bigger factor in the next presidential election?
Because if O'bama's campaign feels seriously threatened, they will pull out any weapons they have, including the race/guilt/discrimination card. They were fairly restrained in the last election, although when there were primaries at stake that looked very close, it was occasionally used by his proxies.
It is a very effective tool, because no one wants to be considered a racist (unless they really are, and fortunately, they are the minority of voters).

Agreed on the symbolism. I was tempted to buy the "heritage" argument until I learned that the confederate battle emblem was not a part of Georgia's flag until the civil rights movement. Our current flag goes back to the pre- stars and bars. Governor Perdue did not allow the battle emblem on the ballot initiative to change the flag and boy were there some angry rednecks at the polling place I worked. I applaud that decision however and we are back to a more "civil" symbol over our capitol that celebrates Wisdom, Justice and Moderation (Plus a strong defense if you read that into the soldier on the seal.)

Perhaps it is because I don't frequent the double wide trailers and country bars but I see less and less sympathy for the confederacy every year.

Agreed on the symbolism. I was tempted to buy the "heritage" argument until I learned that the confederate battle emblem was not a part of Georgia's flag until the civil rights movement.
Perhaps it is because I don't frequent the double wide trailers and country bars but I see less and less sympathy for the confederacy every year.

They also talked about the fact that the owners of the other NFL franchises probably don't want their comment history brought out for airing in front of the public.
Whether Rush is popular or not, tinkering with someone's legitimate desire to exercise ownership rights in a capitalist society is not a good way to go.

re: #295 Splatt

Everybody's all celebratory about the DOW closing over 10K and how it was 10 years ago that it 1st closed over 10K. But, if you take into account the fact that the dollar has lost 25% of it's value over those 10 years, the DOW in REAL (not nominal) terms is really at 7,537, as of right now.

Depressing, isn't it?

Especially to those of us who have had their salary frozen for three years and our share of benefits rise 10% each year. Not that I mind the state being fiscally responsible, I just wish the Feds would share in the belt tightening.

300 Mad Prophet Ludwig  Wed, Oct 14, 2009 2:35:08pm

I want to make a pre-emptive defense of Charles here, lest anyone question the rightness of this post.

It is absolutely true that if one were to go through the archives at LGF, one could find a number of ugly comments - from posters who have since been banned.

The message on this blog was always that vile and racist rants were not welcome. This has been very actively enforced for several years. I have met few people more disgusted by racism than Charles.

If Charles is at all to blame, the worst that can be said is that in the earlier days, he was too willing to let people just say what they were going to say, even if he disagreed personally. Even in those earlier days the most vile stuff was still not welcome and nothing that was allowed to stand compared to what he is reporting on now.

The real difference of course is that the far right has been openly allying with very vile and racist groups and spreading very vile and racist memes. This is something that Charles from the get go stood against - and quite courageously too. He lost a lot of friends and was subjected to the most vile of personal attacks for taking the right and principled stand.

So when Charles posts the garbage that the far right has carefully fear mongered into fruition. He is simply showing an honest reporting of what is going on. It is not surprising that if you race bait for close to a year and fear monger for many years, that you will get many disgusting racist remarks. This is not a few cherry picks. It is a loud and vocal arm of the far right. It is exactly the base fears that Rush and Malkin and Coulter and Beck and Ron Paul and Geller and Spencer and all the rest have been feeding for some time.

It is not Charles' fault for rightfully shining a light on it. In fact, he should be praised for it.

People reap what they sew.

Charles is making an honest shoot.

I think you that's a good and valid opinion. Perhaps my flippant attitude towards it doesn't help the situation either. I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that only a few people involved can reasonably take it personally (Charles, for example), and the fact that many people have a lot of free time while sitting at their computers. Short tempers and bitter attitudes don't help matters any either.

I doubt it. Lincoln was an inspired leader but still a product of his times. He pondered segragation of the races as a solution to the slavery problem. Still it was a shame that he was assassinated. He may have been able to continue the policy of listening to the better Angels of our nature and avoided a lot of reprisals on both sides.

Actually, the courts have been quite consistent in finding that those running chat rooms, forums, blogs with comments and so forth are not responsible for the material others post. It may be ethically wrong to let repugnant comments stand, but legally there's not a problem.

I don't think they care. Let's look at the bottom line. As long as you see traffic at those sites, as long as you see ads at those sites and as long as the owner can either make a profit or keep it going out of his mad money, the site is not going anywhere.

No not really. Rush called the assassin of MLK a national hero. He has said that and all sorts of other openly racist vile things that would get anyone else instantly booted. Even though that puts him firmly into the category of irredeemable scum for me, what I think of his repulsive ranting is not the point. You could maybe imagine that Black people find him to be odious.

What entertains me is seeing Rush's defenders wondering how it is that both the racist rednecks and Black people both clearly understood Rush and did not think it was any form of satire or any other spin doctoring. What entertains me more is the inability to see cause and effect when there are so very few minority Republicans.

The theme of inability to see cause and effect is something much on my mind of late.

where they are saying a quote was ' authentic', their sources are cited below often as reporters... not always gospel.
Snopes is a great tool, but they are also suffering from the same problem in some cases as wiki... there is just too much information being thrown at them to process independently and they have been relying on ' sources' that formerly would not have made the cut when it comes to quotes.
It was unfortunate for Limbaugh to use the Crips and the Bloods in his statement, but his meaning was quite clear: he went on to discuss the (not small) number of convicted felons currently playing for the NFL, not their race.

The talk about who is responsible & disclaimers misses one point. Apart from his or her conscience the blog host is in the end responsible to his or her traffic. No traffic no relevance. LGF is confident enough to show its stats. They show something besides the raw data-They show the blog is right on the money for its viewers, lurkers, active posters and advertisers.

re: #365 Killgore Trout

I really disliked that satire. I love the Onion, that one was a real loser in my opinion. By the dings I see even the cover of satire was inadequate to this audience. No offense Killgore, tastes vary widely.

379 Bonk  Wed, Oct 14, 2009 3:14:02pm

What happened to the wacky left? Used to be we'd see posts here at LGF about what kind of crazy ideas and statements cropped up at the HuffPo and other sites, but now it's just post after post about how awful the far right is, how deluded anyone who doesn't believe in global warming is, how crazy Glenn Beck is and the occasional interesting bit about Israel - and little or nothing about what's going on with the push for nationalized health care or the Afghan war.

Maybe I missed something, but did all of the rabid lefties get normal and well-behaved all of a sudden? Or did Charles just stop visiting their sites to notice it? I'm curious what's behind the huge anti-far right bias instead of something a bit more balanced which calls out the wackjobs on both extremes? Admittedly, the far right is a lot more like the far left now, but they're not any worse - or any better.

It's more amusing/informative to show both sides of the crazy IMO - then you can compare them and disregard *both* extremes.

The first time I saw it, it struck me funny. Like I said, FARK. Then I started seeing it everywhere and there were people who believed it. That's when I realized it wasn't all that funny and I don't blame him for being pissed about it.

LGF didn't change- the political landscape did. This has always been an anti-idiotarian site, and still is. What changed was the right decided to become more idiotic.

Ummm... Balanced would mean the clear application of well defined principles equally. We don't just dislike far left lunacy. We also dislike far right lunacy.

Was listening to a friend from Virginia waxing wroth over the way the Yankees tore up her native Richmond at the end of the war, and had to remind her forcefully that where I live didn't even become a state until 1867. Was afraid she was working up to kick my ass personally. (I neglected to mention that we sent something like three regiments to fight alongside the Yankees.) Resentments seem to die hard down there.

I don't believe that is true. I believe that most conservatives are still quite rational (many who are are long-time regulars here, like myself). I suspect that's what Bonk was trying to convey.

I would agree, however, that a very vocal minority within the party does seem to have gone off the deep end lately.

392 DeathtotheSwiss  Wed, Oct 14, 2009 4:07:21pm

This is really disturbing...

I usually never bothered to read Hotair's comments as they were never as interesting or insightful as LGF's. Why don't they just police themselves better instead of going to war with Charles?

I just read that Powerline blog has discontinued the comments section. Too much time weeding out goof balls. I'm a regular at Victor Davis Hanson's blog. There are one or two people on that blog that argue just to argue. Just dumb cliches. What a waste of time.

Here people are booted. Period. I've never appreciated that before but I do now. It's a new stage in blogging. We all discriminate in good ways. Food, Clothing, dwelling, company...we choose one and not the other.

I'm proud to be a member here and I hope to always be. I like a moral stance and I don't like to have my time wasted by being challenged by trolls. I don't want to spend the time to teach them anything when I'm sure they don't want to learn anyway.

re: #393 DeathtotheSwiss

Me too.

It's no bother to me if I don't agree with Charles much, but trying to be objective here, it seems like there's not anything any of the parties in question (HotAir, specifically) can do right. Charles blames them for the comments (which if IIRC, Charles has defended himself against the exact same thing in the past), then ridicules Allahpundit for threatening to ban someone. I'm afraid that if they do begin doing more as Charles would prefer, he'll mock them for taking so long (which, no offense Charles, you've done to many sites in the past..."Down the memory hole" and such).

I like AP's style and humor quite a bit, and it seems a bit unfair to label him and Ed "creeps." It seems like that sort of judgment ought to be based solely based on what they write and not their commenters.

Only 5 of the 28 LGF posts currently in my RSS are not devoted to trashing the right in one way or another, and two of those 5 are music and two are Michael Yon. Granted: not my blog, not my rules, but that seems a very different balance than in previous years, no? I don't know, it just makes it very hard as a Catholic conservative LGFer.

Totally serious question: how would Charles identify himself politically these days?

Are you nuts?

Allahpundit threatened to ban someone who posted a comment accusing me of being a pedophile -- and then he didn't ban that person, and didn't even delete the comments. And there was more than one comment that echoed the "child molester" smear.

How would you feel if someone falsely accused you by your real name (not "PaisleyCow") of committing a disgusting crime, and the person with the authority to delete that comment ... DIDN'T?

Unbelievable.

403 BARACK THE VOTE  Wed, Oct 14, 2009 6:15:18pm

Just got here and I'm not caught up on the thread.
I just want to say I think this is a terrific new recurring feature here and is necessary. The comments at Hot Air have been horrific for a long time-- years-- and no one anywhere in the blogosphere has bothered to shine the light on it.

These people need to be shamed into doing the right thing. I know a lot of people deplored KT leaving those comments there-- but does anyone really think they would have changed anything if he hadn't?

I hope this series gets picked up everywhere else in the blogosphere. I hope it starts getting nationwide attention in the MSM. HotAir has to start moderating its comments-- not merely for what it allows CJ to be called there, but for the ongoing hateful and often exterminationist rhetoric it allows constantly. It's disgusting and Michelle Malkin and everyone who writes for them is tacitly condoning it by allowing it to appear. There is no excuse for a website of that size in 2009 to have such poor moderation. None-- except that they don't care what is said there so long as their traffic and their income stays up, and they're willing to give cover to people who belong at a site like StormFront so long as their income rolls in.

And that's probably why Malkin allows her work to be used on VDARE too.

One more thing-- the losers like RSM or elsewhere in the wingnutsphere, or whiners here who think this is 'only' a blogwar or about a personal vendetta, need to get a fucking clue.

Go pull virtually any HA thread since it was founded and you'll find it's always been a hateful racist cesspit that often called for physical violence if not actual murder of people perceived to be political opponents. These aren't cherrypicked comments or something that only happened with Obama's election. This has been going on since its inception. And while there was (some) small excuse in the beginning, because running a web community and getting moderation right is something you learn to do as you go, there is no excuse now and there hasn't been any excuse for a long time. That site gets tons of traffic and generates tons of income. They could have (and should have) hired human beings to sit there and monitor comments from the beginning. They had the income. They chose not to.

And even now they choose not to moderate more closely -- which is why they need to be called on it. Loudly and often.

406 avspatti  Wed, Oct 14, 2009 7:49:16pm

I don't really understand how blogs work as far as the 'owners/moderators' (are those the correct terms?) are concerned. However, it seems to me that they surely have day jobs to attend to and cannot instantly read every comment. How long is considered too long for the moderators to act? On several hockey sites, it takes quite a while . . . within 24 hours, though. Just asking. Thanks.

a blogs comment section gives one a good idea of who the readership is. The comment section is part of the community of the blog. Now if a few crazy comments are left at a blog you can say they don't represent the readership. But when a comment section of a blog is overwhelmed with craziness it's a different story.

it's not surprising that a blog run by michelle malkin is going to have crazy people leaving comments. I wouldn't compare it to a hockey site.

Just go look at the comments left on foxnation.com . This is a website run by fox news. FOX News has deep enough pockets to monitor the comments left on their blog. But either they choose not to or they approve of the hateful racist craziness that gets posted there. I'm not sure which is worse.

408 avspatti  Wed, Oct 14, 2009 9:33:50pm

I really don't understand why Charles down-dinged me for asking a simple question about how blogs work. I was just asking for clarification on how often or how constantly moderators do their thing.

About hockey sites: there are plenty of loons posting there as well. Really filthy language among other things. These are eventually deleted and the posters warned and/or booted from the site. However, they are not always deleted instantaneously as the mods have a life to attend to. The bad guys do get it sooner or later (not very).

I still don't understand how often etc. the moderation is expected to happen. I guess not being in the know about blogs and asking a simple question is not kosher on this site. Kind of bewildering imo.

409 freetoken  Thu, Oct 15, 2009 2:13:09am

re: #408 avspatti

Over at HA, the moderators let stand libelous statements against Charles even after they have seen them, as evidenced by having other, newer statements deleted.

So it's not just a case of not having a moderator on call 24/7... rather, it that the moderators don't really care.

Oh, right. Used to be "more balanced."

No, it's one-sided because, well, it's one-sided.

What the heck do you know about "my pet ideologies"? Nothing. I haven't SHARED any of them here. Glad you feel obliged to pigeonhole me with your preconceptions, but I beg to differ.*

I don't disagree with your posts on right wing wackjobs being a bad thing, I'm only questioning why you are so singlemindedly focused on it. Again, did all the left wing nut-jobs go into hibernation and stop being equally as extreme?

One of the followup posts put out the numbers - 28 to 5 - and I simply asked why this was happening on a blog that *previously* was a bit "more balanced" on criticizing the left AND the right. You can simply say that you changed your focus if you want, but barring that I find it hard to believe that you can only find craziness on the right leaning side of the blogosphere nowadays. If that's all you want to post on, great. No worries. It's just not very interesting to read the same thing over and over on a site where there used to be more variety in the commentary. If my SAYING that disturbs you, I'm sorry. I'll stop posting here.

*For the record, my "pet ideologies":
Creationism is a fib.
Glenn Beck is a comedian, not a journalist.
White Supremacists are bad. So are any other colored ones.
Global Climate Change Happens. Nobody can prove why, or what causes it.
Right wing fanatics = Left wing fanatics. Both bad.
Capitalism mostly good, socialism mostly bad.

NOW you can judge me on my beliefs, if you feel the need to do so.
