Hot Air Comments of the Day

Blogosphere • Views: 3,550

In tonight’s edition of the most extreme comments posted at Hot Air, we’ll take a look through the comments in just one thread, Allahpundit’s post about the fourth grader who asked Obama, “Why do people hate you?” This one really whipped up the crowd into a frenzy. (And thanks to the LGF readers who helped point out these comments, at risk to their own sanity.)

Note that some of these people were former registered LGF readers, now banned. And you’ll see why, shortly.

Why does Obama use that half assed ebonics speak? Does he think it endears him to folks?

At any rate, we actually need to see brainwashed kids like this. He is a perfect example of the mindless Obama worship that permeates the Obama supporters home.

You know what I hate more than the kid’s scripted question (which I propose was fed to him by an overweight Marxist schoolteacher by the way)?

The way Obama struts and swaggers around in that phony, folksy way like he’s so desperate to connect with the ordinary people he has absolutely nothing in common with. “Tha’s wh’am talking ’bout” etc. It’s horrible, like a drunken parent trying to rap.

He’s obviously trying to let his black half dominate the white half he’s ashamed of, sort of like a mixed-race Dr. Strangelove.

It would be so much simpler if Herr Obama and his Brown Shirts just called them Jews, but I guess that would be too obvious.

Yo 4th grader,

We DON’T “HATE” BHO!

It’s just that some of us are smart enough that we won’t fall for all socialist/Marxist schuck and jive from a smooth talking Kenyan hustler.

bannedbyhuffpo on October 15, 2009 at 6:59 PM

[…]

Well lad … It’s because he is a hard core Marxist who hates this nation and wants to rip out its Christian-Judeo heart, its traditions and its heritage. He wants to destroy the Republic and Rebuild his version of a utopian socialist state … and that sonny is why people hate him.

rplat on October 15, 2009 at 7:03 PM

StoneKrab, I noticed it too. The way Obama strutted around the stage trying to wax all folksy with his “that’s what I’m talk’n about [Willis],” like he is some character out of a 1970s sit-com is well beneath the dignity of his office.

And yes, the kid was obviously a plant.

That video is the most sickening thing I’ve seen. It’s worse than the little kids singing Obama tunes. It’s worse than the ACORN stuff. It’s horrendous. Obama has surrounded himself with no fooling out and out REDS. And it’s obvious to me he did he because he’s not a liberal – HE’S A COMMUNIST RADICAL. Where is Joe McCarthy when you need him?

The Democrats will rue the day they let this clown take over their party and their country. Once he’s exposed, and he will be, it ought to be the end of the their party. He’s ruining them (but hopefully not us) forever. We’re all going to pay for their epic naivete.

I don’t hate Osama Obama. …

Not hating him doesn’t mean I can’t pray that the Traitor-in-Chief is soon removed from office and thrown back into the cesspool that made him what he is today.

MrScribbler on October 15, 2009 at 6:22 PM

Well, wasn’t that special?

And of course, there’s a huge amount of hatred directed at little old me tonight, leading Allahpundit to post this plaintive request:

Knock off the LGF-baiting, please. Ace has had chronic problems with people hijacking threads over there to complain about CJ. I’m not going to let it happen here.

Allahpundit on October 15, 2009 at 9:08 PM

Good luck with that, AP! That’s your audience. Better get used to it.

It's too late for Doormatpundit. He's already allowed the haters to go on and on with this insane fixation at his site for months now. Now they think it's acceptable behavior. I think the one that got me was the "well sonny" post. I racist fool explains why his madness is correct, while condescending to a kid. How remarkably rotten.

It is very difficult to look at these people.

I wonder if they would have the courage to speak like that in person?

There is only so much repulsive ugliness one can take. I have reached a certain saturation with it. So they are racist and they are sneering and they are ohh so certain that their ignorance is correct.

They also unfortunately seethe and vote.

Lots of evil in that HA thread:

There is no excuse for EVER giving the benefit of the doubt to these monsterse anymore, Allah. I’m glad you weren’t sucked by Anita Dunn, but on this one you should maybe reserve judgment, but lean in the direction of a plant.
Anyway, here’s how Obama really wanted to answer the question of why people hate him:
“Well, uh, young man… you know…. uh…. let me be clear…. it’s because I’m an evil marxist who has spent his entire life (even in the White House) surrounded by communists, terrorists, and other radicals, and I’m hellbent on destroying.. uh…. I mean, ‘fundamentally transforming’ this country.”

and

The communists in the White House hate little children and use them for their own ends. Even the innocence of a child isn’t off limits to the scum of the left.
From the left’s point of view the kid should be appreciative that they let him live. They prefer abortion over life any day.

and

I hate Obama and I’m not afraid to say it. WHY? because I love my country and I hate ANYONE who would attempt to destroy it.

I don't agree. There should be a much higher standard of proof required than a few words from a young child who's obviously upset, before we render judgment on this family -- when even the authorities who dealt with the incident are saying they have no evidence it was a "set-up."

But if the authorities talked to the boy and didn't feel it was a hoax, then it probably wasn't.

Indeed. It was a very poor choice of words. There are indeed times when some of Mao's saying or tactics have utility. But before you mention them, you need to qualify them and make sure you remind people of how evil Mao was and make clear that you do not seek his brutal ends nor will you descend to his worse means. 1 ft^3 of helium can lift 0.067lbs.
The average 6 year old weighs about 55 lbs.
55 / .067 = 820 lbs
They'd need a balloon 10' x 10' x 82' to lift that kid.

So I went searching at the Way Back machine to see what the oldest HotAir page looked like... and it appears April 24, 2006 is the oldest one on record.

In MMalkin's greeting message "3..2..1.." we find this deliciously ironic comment:

I’m very excited for you Michelle! I appreciate your efforts to hammer leftists and those squishy Republicans who do not address the reall issue that will destroy this great country faster than terrorists, namely illegal immigration. I pray our Democrat friends who truly want what is best for our country can debate us straight up and not allow this site to degrade to name calling and excessive vulgarity.

Beck's attack on Anita Dunn is what anyone who speaks out against that freaking moron can expect -- they'll dig into your past and use anything they find to smear you in front of millions of people.

I have no doubt they've been digging into my past too -- Beck has attacked me on his show twice.

Another one of Beck's hysterical presentations held together by a thread. She admits to Mao Tse-Tung and Mother Teresa as two of her favorite political philosophers in the same speech. There is always the matter of Mother Teresa and Haiti's right-wing dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier.

Unlike McCarthy, one needn't be an actual member of the CUSA to be called a communist. All one needs to do is mention a former communist figure in a speech to be considered a communist by the likes of Beck and others.

Yep it looks that way. Like the crackheads needed more commies to fear.

Glen Beck uses goof-ups like hers to keep his fan base outraged and tuned in. He's taking right-wing anger and channeling it any way he can to line his pockets. He's an ass.

You also have to consider that the family has been on Wife Swap not once but twice. This is a family that wants publicity.

I think the sticking point is that the kid said, "we did it for the show". Given his wifeswap experience, he probably would be quite programmed to say that. The Wifeswap bit, instead of adding anything to, it takes away from anything damning in the video,

FLASHBACK: Fox News Supported Bush White House’s War Against NBC

Fox’s incredulous reaction to the White House is somewhat ironic, considering the supportive response of the network’s personalities last year when the Bush administration attacked the credibility of NBC News. In May 2008, then-White House counselor Ed Gillespie publicly sent a scathing letter to NBC News President Steve Capus, accusing them of deceptive editing and blurring the lines between “news” and “opinion.”

In fact, two Fox News contributors, filling in for Bill O’Reilly, suggested that the Bush White House should have considered freezing out NBC and MSNBC all together:

There was more to that interview than the clip you posted.
Through the whole interview, it was apparent that this is a family who are not particularly smooth speakers, and add to that that trauma of the day - well, they just sounded, throughout the entire interview, like they were having trouble getting their thoughts together, and I can well imagine what a hellish day this was for them.

I've had a 6-year-old, and they will say and do really weird things sometimes. Like tell a teacher that their favorite thing to do at home is to catch all the bugs they find crawling around on the floor. In a home that is perfectly clean and bugless, thank you.

I tend to think this kid was probably stressed, tired, and just being 6.

Clinton was President back in the day when left and right at least paid lip service to the idea that the people on the other side loved their kids and occasionally coached Little League.

His presidency is pretty much the time period when the "Other Guys must die, no matter what!" craziness began, and a lot of people place the blame squarely at his feet.

Good question. I was there and this is my take. There was widespread contempt for Clinton from the right. There were conspiracies, real and imagined, about Gennifer Flowers, Troopergate, Drug running, Vince Foster, Brother Roger, HillaryCare, FBIgate, Travelgate, Draft evasion, ... I could go on. But the stuff was only spread by word of mouth or by xerox copies or the very primitive internet. Now the same loons are still out there with the same propensity to spread half-baked conspiracies but they have the power of the blogosphere and cable media to spread the fertilizer. So I say the vector has about the same direction as with Clinton but a greater magnitude.

I think it's comparable but it may seem worse now because when Clinton was elected there was no Fox News and there weren't nearly as many conservative radio personalities on air in '92 as there are today. Clinton only got 43% of the vote, so there wasn't really a liberal mandate sweeping through the country. Additionally, the '94 elections were a slaughter for many incumbent Democrats.

Plus the "out of power" party can go a little overboard at times.

Context is always important. I remember years ago having a discussion in which Marx was brought up and I started discussing his economic theories in the context of the time in which they were informed.

I was immediately flamed by several people as a Marxist because apparently the only proper opinion of Karl Marx that one should hold was "evil bad evil man."

Marx's theories were developed in direct response to severe wealth and ownership inequities in 19th-century Europe that did not exist in America. As a result, they simply would not have worked here. That's what I said, in a nutshell, that drew so much outrage. In no way, shape or form am I even remotely a Marxist, lol.

So if someone says their "favorite philosopher" is Mao, I'd certainly be interested in knowing why. I certainly wouldn't automatically presume they were a Maoist.

Son [waving a small POW-MIA flag we got at the Fourth of July parade last year]: Papa, who is this?

Me: That's the soldier.

Son: Is the soldier nice?

M: Yes, the soldier is nice.

Son: Is the soldier a giant?

Me: No, there's no giants.

Son: When the soldier goes to heaven, will he have birthdays forever?

Me: ...err, open the cabinet and get a Q-tip!

Son: Papa, are there giants in heaven?

Me: No, no giants in heaven.

Son: Only humans?

Me: Yes.

Son: But Papa! Is the soldier human?

Me: Yes!

Son: Is the policeman human?

Me: Yes! Everyone is human!

Son: No elephants in heaven?

Me: Prooobably not...

Son: Papa! Uncle Larry's face is the same as Grandpa's face!

Me: Mmhmm!

Son: I want to ride my bike.

Me: Nope, you just had your bath; time for your beddy-bye story.

Son: I want to ride my bike!

Me: Do you like your new bike?

Son: (nods, trying not to cry) Papa, why did I make a I Love You card for Mommy today?

Me: Because you're a kind boy.

Son: Why?

Me: Because...here, let's get your clothes on.

Son: But Papa! I don't want to die!

Me: !!!... You won't die.

Son: But when I get old I have to!

Me: Well, let's not think about that.

Son: Papa, are you and Mommy too old, or just medium old?

Me: Medium old...

After I spent 15 minutes babbling, she got frustrated - "MOM! Why aren't you answering my question?!" (no dummy, she).

Allegro - yes, you're right. My daughter had a friend who would get home from school, rush through homework so she could go to dance twice a week, baton twice a week, flute lessons twice a week and then there would be a girl scout meeting in there somewhere before one of the other activities. The kid didn't get home at night until 9:30 or 10 pm.

Now my daughter had access to all of those things ONE AT A TIME, and when she lost interest, we didn't force it. She could come home, take her time with her homework, take a bike ride through the neighborhood with her friend, wind down from the day, write in her journal, daydream, read a book . . . she can't play the flute, she will never dance in the Nutcracker, but ya know what, she's just fine and dandy.

I'm hoping Apple will produce a more sophisticated web development tool than iWeb. I've been delving into developing a web site... and the Adobe product (Dreamweaver) I'm finding to be a horrid product, from a usability viewpoint. iWeb is too limiting but is slick.

Apple has mixed results on it's professional software (unlike it's entry level or home software, which tend to be great buys for the cost.) Aperture has it mixed reviews but I personally don't like it; their video products though have a following.

Not used Logic Studio but I have played with GarageBand to handle some simple audio for some movies/web entries. Logic Studio description looks impressive.

re: #148 reine.de.tout
I have a slightly different take on this. As the parent of three teenagers, our policy has been to keep them busy with things they want to do. We don't force them, nor do we schedule their lives for them. But they aren't allowed to sit around and play Left for Dead all day either. Either they pick their activities, or we do (chores).

My rules for being a parent: be nosy, be consistent, and keep them looking forward to the next productive thing they get to do.

BTW, stranger danger is one of the worst ways to keep a child safe. While hiding scared from strangers that are a statistic anomaly in their lives, they don't learn how to keep themselves safe in the real world.

You say you don't force them or schedule their lives but then say you don't allow them to "sit around and play"...

Do they get the time to daydream? Just hang out? Choose what they want to do, even if it's "nothing" in your eyes? Nothing to you may be something to them.

I remember that my time alone to do as I wanted when I was a teen was the most valuable time I think I ever spent, even when my parents thought I was "wasting time". That time was spent very valuably to me, pounding my frustrations out on the piano, fantasizing about my future, talking on the phone to my friends... just being ALONE without pressure for a little while. It was tough to be a teen then, now? I can't even imagine.

I tend to believe in the oxygen deprivation theory of jet lag as opposed to the "change in time zone" prevailing theory.

There is a paucity of evidence on the effects of air travel on oxygen saturation in general populations. The peripheral oxygen saturation and pulse rate of 84 passengers, aged 1–78 years, were measured by pulse oximetry at round level and altitude during air travel. There was a statistically significant reduction in oxygen saturation in all passengers travelling long haul and short haul flights (p < 0.05). The mean [range] (SD) SpO2 for all flights at ground level was 97% [93–100] (1.33) and at cruising altitude 93% [85–98] (2.33). Fifty-four per cent of passengers had SpO2 values of 94% or less at cruising altitude. This is a value which may prompt physicians to administer supplementa

Senator Al Franken introduced an amendment to a bill that would prohibit the pentagon from contracting with companies that had contracts that would prevent suit if an employee was raped.

The case came up about a woman who was gang raped and locked in a crate. When she returned to America (the crime happened in Iraq) she was informed that her contract prevent her from suing.

Now this bill would seem to be a complete slam dunk. How could anyone be opposed to it?

Well 30 Republicans were.

John Stewart did it up properly. Gotta keep those women in their place and all... I am completely disgusted.

No, unless you were wishing that it were that way. I sometimes wonder what would it have been like if Clapton had ODed in 1970, leaving his legacy stopped at The Yardbirds, John Mayall, Cream, and Derek and the Dominoes, and if Hendrix had lived instead. I don't think JH would have had an easy time of it in the 70s, unless he went into fusion. Can't imagine him trying to play metal, punk, or disco. But, once he made it to the late 80s and the first wave of 60s nostalgia, he'd have been home-free.

For some reason this puts me in mind of one of the funniest pieces Garrison Keillor ever wrote, about how a young Lutheran can tell if their talent for music is godly or not. It's also then "Not Invented Here" syndrome at work, just like with AGW. Al Franken ( a person most Republicans rightly loath) introduced the bill, therefore to many Republicans it is automatically suspect at best, and just plain wrong at worst. Others voted against it because they don't want to be seen as siding with Franken. If they voted for it, they'd be called RINOs by the NIH wing of the GOP.

Most likely either underwhelmed or possibly overwhelmed, depending on the school she was attending. Less likely that she didn't have an interest in the first place. In either case, the school should accommodate any kid at any level. The nic is blue. This is one topic I actually do know about.

Oh it's a good school. Very professional and good with kids. But, after a couple or three years, dance had run its course for her. Time to move on to other things.

Let's take everything you said at face value. No doubt in some cases it is true.

So it is better to support a provenly corrupt corporation that has been feeding off of the public trough in scandal after scandal to protect itself from GANG RAPE charges then it is to appear to be a RINO? Oh yes, real Republicans are all for GANG RAPE. None of our business...

Is that really a message that you can stomach? Is the utter craven cowardice that goes along with that something you want in your leadership?

This is out and out immoral and repugnant. There is no defense for it even in the best case - which is "too cowardly to act like a leader and do what is right."

I'm sure both we and they have given this quite a lot of thought.

I'm Sorry, Rush
"My intent was not to go after Rush - I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh..."

"I was maybe a little bit inarticulate... There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership."

"I went back at that tape and I realized words that I said weren’t what I was thinking..."
---
Congressman Phil Gingrey (R-GA):

"I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don't have to try to do what's best for your people and your party. "

I'm Sorry, Rush
“I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments and I just wanted to tell you, Rush, [...] that I regret those stupid comments.”

However, I also mentioned that all this simply raised a whiff of suspicion. Charles is correct that some sort of actual evidence is needed before applying the tar and feathers to the parents. Yet if there is any city in America that needs Federal help, it is surely Detroit.

A tribute to our fine Congressional and Gubernatorial representation.

And here are the 30 Republicans who voted against allowing raped and falsely imprisoned women - yes Halliburton really did lock the poor woman up - being able to sue their contractors.

Don't be surprised by the list.

Whenever I see your nic -- I think of this:[Link: www.amazon.com...]

That is where it is from - When I first started using the name I found a couple of sites where someone had already registered Nanook so I added the number which happens to be from the movie Clerks.

Dreamed I was an Eskimo
Frozen wind began to blow
Under my boots and around my toe
Frost had bit the ground below
Was a hundred degrees below zero
And my momma cried
"You don't really look like an Eskimo"
Nanook, no no
Nanook, no no
Don't be a naughty Eskimo, hey!

re: #328 Lauraf

For "bashing conservatives" read it as "thorough introspection". There is an honest debate happening here about how the Republican Party can get back on it's feet. The Conservatives here - for the most part annoyed about the meltdown the GOP has suffered - and the liberal/left commenters want a solid sane GOP back on the political scene to have a rational discussion with over policy at the national level.

the interblog stuff i agree is of limited interest - but i don't believe people here see the blogs being taken apart in another thread as rivals.

Hmmm... for the marxists leftists, Obama is a neocon tool, a capitalist and almost a right-winger.
For the extreme right-wing, Obama is a radical Stalinist marxist who wants to transform the US in a version of the Soviet Union.

Anyone doubts that Obama will stay another four more years in the White House? The Republicans are making a red carpet for him in 2012. And the worst part of it is the fact that the reelection of Obama will look a good thing... just take a look to the GOP pre-candidates. Reagan would have crush all of them in a single blow in the primaries elections.
