Rush Limbaugh mocks children who’ve died from the H1N1 virus.

FLV Video

Glenn Beck mocks the idea of volunteering to help your community:

Youtube Video

And at the official Facebook page of the Republican National Committee, “Ryan” mocks black people who voted for Barack Obama: Gas station humor. | Facebook

Ryan wrote14 hours ago

As I was standing in line at my local “fillin station” I over heard a conversation that made me chuckle. A couple of black guys in front of me were talking about how disappointed they are in Obama. I listened on as they talked about how that “Ni**a” aint done sh** that he said he was going to do I been out of work since two days after he was elected“!

Then one of them said, ”yeah, he aint even all black”! as he turned and said no offense to me. I responded with a none taken, and thank you for letting me listen in.

So after a few fist pumps and a hell yeah, I left the gas station with a little dose of reality, that the ones who voted for this man are turning on him, and they are pissed.

Even if Obama were the Super-Intellectual Mocha Kennedy Jesus that his superfans imagine him to be, he couldn’t hold back the tide of Stupid that’s sweeping the nation. I almost wish he WAS that Biblical. We might have a chance to stop this kind of idiocy if he was some kind of saviour.

I want Obama to promote beer and apple pie, just so we can watch Beck rave against them.

“all because the priority is health care.”

Aha. So Obama.com created the whole H1N1 virus scam just to use dead children as emotional tug strings to get the average dummies to go along with the heath care reform. What a sick bastard.

Rush Limbaugh—what point exactly was he trying to make? Was it that reportage about the H1N1 causing childhood deaths is somehow advancing a liberal march on health care? I for one oppose the liberal march on health care, but what a tin ear (no pun intended) Rush Limbaugh has.

Call your state health department. They are in charge of gathering data, estimating need, and requesting their allotment from CDC. And they will have it first. It may not do any good right now, but you could get your name on a list or at least get more and better information.

H1N1 is no joke — my co-worker’s brother is very ill with it in LA, H1N1 and pneumonia omplications. He is in his mid-50s, therwise healthy, and he is in the ICU.

However. On CBS tonight, they touted a miracle treatment from this one drug that apparently saved one guy’s life from H1N1. His doctor had heard of it but it was still in trials — he got special permission from the FDA to use it to treat his patient. Fair enough. But now it’s on the news and the already fearful public has the name of one drug (from one company) on their lips and they’ll start asking their doctors for it (you can imagine how this one company in the Big Pharma constellation loves this — they love to have thei rdrugs marketed direct to consumers on TV, so that we ask our doctors for specific meds) and the FDA will start to feel public pressure to step up their tests and approve the darn thing BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE AND WE ALL DIE. Big Pharma cheers again. Big Pharma is meanwhile fighting healthcare reform tooth and nail. So Rush is exactly wrong about the H1N1 vaccine.Hysteria feeds Big Pharma which hurts reform. So Rush should actually be pro H1N1 hysteria since he is (I assume) anti-reform.

Italian media speculates: Vatican will announce massive reception of Anglicans into Catholic Church on Tuesday

Several Italian newspapers speculated today that the Vatican may possibly welcome a large number of members from the Traditional Anglican Communion into the Catholic Church on Tuesday. The group previously separated from the Anglican Communion due to issues such as the ordinations of both women and sexually active homosexuals.

According to Giacomo Galeazzi from the Italian daily La Stampa, the press conference to be held tomorrow at the Vatican press office by Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; and Archbishop Augustine DiNoia, Secretary of the Congregation for the Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, will be the occasion in which the reception of the Anglican group, which claims to have some 500,000 members –among clergy and laity- will be officially announced.

“The news story, already anticipated by some Australian media, could be finally confirmed during the press briefing that was announced this afternoon by the Vatican press office,” Galeazzi wrote on Monday.

Galeazzi also claimed that the Traditionalist Anglicans have already signed a document of adherence to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and have symbolically deposited it at a Marian shrine in England.

“Once reunited with Rome, they may keep most of the Liturgical celebrations according to their tradition, which is closer to the Tridentine Mass,” La Stampa explained, adding that they would also “keep their married clergy but not married bishops.”

I think they are. I run into people like that all the time—and they aren’t all conservatives either. Sometimes they just don’t think what they are doing/saying affects real people. They don’t really have a deep seeded hatred, but people unlike themselves are too ‘other’ and they do not identify with them as having the same wants and needs as themselves. Because they do not actively hate the ‘other’ they rationalize that they are not racist.

This is regarding that idiot loudmouth Glenn Beck. He works for Fox News right? Well look at this:

September 10, 2009
ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY FOUNDATION, MAYORS FROM ALL OVER THE U.S. KICK OFF TWO MAJOR INITIATIVES ENCOURAGING VOLUNTEERISM

EIF is mobilizing the entire entertainment community around the ground-breaking, multi-year I PARTICIPATE, which will promote a new way of thinking about service and seek to persuade millions more Americans to volunteer regularly. To jumpstart the campaign, Entertainment Industry President and CEO Lisa Paulsen, Tyler Perry and Ashton Kutcher announced its 2009 centerpiece: a week-long television event running from October 19th to the 25th, when America’s most-loved TV shows on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC and other broadcast networks will spotlight service through scripted programming, segments and PSAs with inspirational messages and storylines about volunteerism. Randy Jackson (FOX), Christine Baranski (CBS), Tim Daly (ABC) and Michelle Trachtenberg (NBC) also participated in the announcement.

“The most satisfying result for us is when our programs entertain viewers as well as inform them—and maybe even call them to action,” FOX Entertainment president Kevin Reilly points out. “And that’s what we’re looking to do by supporting EIF’s initiative. We are calling on our talent pool—in front and behind the camera—to get involved.” The day began with ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC morning shows all broadcasting interviews from Gracie Mansion during the Cities of Service Summit.

Plenty more here regarding EIF and Fox participation.

One of my employees is a Bill Mahr fan. She’s out sick.

He’s an embarrassment to liberal/progressives on this subject (and PETA, for that matter). I believe he is unfixable on both subjects — that is unfortunate.

170 mikhailtheplumber  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 9:13:36pm

What’s the matter with Limbaugh and Beck’s viewers? Are they so blindly behind these clowns that they just can’t realize what they’re saying?

I-just-can’t-understand-American-politics!

171 doovdevan  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 9:14:44pm

What is it about Rush and Beck’s audiences that makes these radio personalities want to say this shit? They are both very successful and are arguably their comments broadly resonate with their audience. With leaders unwilling to stand up against these demagogues, is there any way forward for the GOP?

Rush’s comments, like unscientific anti-vax idiocy, will cause more than a few dittoheads to keep their kids away from the vaccine. No GOP leader will call him on it?

no,no GOP leader will call him on it,and if he or she does, they will apologize less than 24 hours later.

re: #96 Walter L. Newton

Actually i found it pretty funny that my statement got so many down dings. When I more or less a left winger and hate the fact that some many people love to listen to people like Glen and Rush cause they make reality simple, black and white.

My point was they should talk less, and Rush is calculating. I just didn’t want to be blunt.

But it is pretty cool to be down ding so many times, if i cant be the best may as well be the worst.

Since I’m still on the trail of Entertainment Industry Foundation here’s another interesting thing of note:

HONORARY BOARD OF GOVERNORS

Warren Beatty*
Jeffrey Berg
Norman Brokaw
John Calley
Peter Chernin
Robert A. Daly*
Barry Diller*
Jonathan Dolgen
Clint Eastwood*
Michael D. Eisner
Michael J. Fox*
Thomas C. Freston
David Geffen
Whoopi Goldberg*
Gene Hackman*
Robert Iger
Quincy Jones*
Jeffrey Katzenberg
Sherry Lansing*
Jay Leno*
Richard Lovett
Barry Meyer
Ron Meyer
Leslie Moonves
**Rupert Murdoch**
Scott Sassa
Robert Shaye
Thomas Short
Steven Spielberg
Lilly Tartikoff
Alex Yemenidjian

Yep, Glenn Beck’s boss was (or may still be) an honorary board of governors member.

175 KingKenrod  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 9:23:23pm

It’s too bad these two brilliant media titans can’t make a simple a point without using fingernails-on-a-chalkboard technique.

All Rush is trying to say is that govt officials use tragedy to get their agenda passed. But instead of just making that point, he has to sarcastically belittle those who are suffering. Genius!

176 Timmeh  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 9:24:22pm

I’m rooting for some serious swine flu Karma to bite Limbaugh on this one.

He’s on record as refusing to get vaccinated for it.

re: #176 Timmeh

It would be wrong to wish him harm, but it’s annoying that when he doesn’t get the flu he (and Bill Maher) will feel themselves vindicated.

re: #161 funky chicken

Hey, hopefully Limbaugh’s fans will all opt out of the vaccine. It will leave enough for intelligent people who want one.

So if Limbaugh and Beck fans don’t take the vaccine, and Michelle Bachman fans don’t participate in the census…

Does that mean the blue states will get two dozen more electoral votes in time for 2012?

180 Teh Flowah  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 9:30:11pm

I’m not sure that’s mocking. And while I don’t doubt a lot of people have voter’s remorse for all the wrong reasons, I am doubting the conversation in question took place. It seems like one of those stories people make up to convince others of a prevailing trend.

re: #71 SteveC

CDC model predicts 63% of Americans will be infected with H1N1

This link was really quite interesting. I followed the synopsis to the full article and I am less worried (that doesn’t mean “not concerned”) about H1N1 after reading it. First, it says we’re in the peak now (weeks 39-43 with 95% confidence). Second, of the 63% that become infected, an estimated 60% of those will be asymptomatic. So about 25% of the US population is expected to be symptomatic. (On a normal year, 5-20% are symptomatic with the seasonal flu causing the death of an estimated 36,000 Americans).

The money quote though is, “The most optimistic assumptions about the CDC vaccination campaign yielded a relative reduction of only 6% in the total number of infected individuals. The actual reduction would certainly be lower because 10-30% of adults vaccinated will not achieve immunity [7,8]. Also a large fraction of the population targeted by influenza A(H1N1) vaccinations are children. Vaccination immunity in children develops at least four weeks after vaccination and would occur too late in the pandemic to make a significant difference to the number of infected in that age group.”

I found this very revealing. While it will most certainly save lives and help those more susceptible to complications, it comes nowhere close to significantly changing the overall picture like I imagined it might. I think one of the best things about all this publicity is that people will take simple things like handwashing, not going to work with a temperature, and monitoring themselves and their family a lot closer. This will hopefully slow the spread and for those who get sick, they will seek treatment faster rather than just “toughing it out.”

FYI, a few relatives of mine have wrapped up bouts with H1N1. No hospitalization required, worked through it with Tamiflu. Not. Fun.

re: #180 Teh Flowah

To clarify so I’m not an insensitive dick like Rush or Glenn, I meant the Ryan person’s comments were not mocking in my opinion. Rush and Glenn can take a long walk off a short pier though.

185 Timmeh  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 10:00:43pm

re: #182 Stormy

That’s kind of depressing. So basically the vaccine will just close the barn door after over 90% of the horses are already out.

Not that I think it will be wasted effort. The more we do this, presumably, the better and faster they will become at making this stuff, and maybe next time they can get the vaccines out an extra month or two earlier and make a real big difference.

186 Shiplord Kirel  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 10:53:06pm

This is just beyond the pale. As I’ve mentioned before, I was sick with H1N1 a couple of weeks ago and I am just now feeling like a human being again. It was bad enough for me and it is supposed to be much worse for young people. The thought of a small child going through this is just appalling, nightmarish.
Rush Limbaugh is a heartless bastard.

187 conrad  Mon, Oct 19, 2009 11:14:24pm

I have not been able to listen to more than about 10 minutes of talk radio a day for a while as my job is pretty involved. Over the past year or so, I have seen Rush, my old favorite host, go slowly downhill in some pretty weird rants. Rants, which truthfully, he used to rightly make fun of others for doing. I don’t know what happened to him, but there is no excuse for sinking to this form of strange odoriferous monologue.

So…Rush, if you are reading this, take some advice from a man who has listened to you long enough to remember Dan’s Bake Sale, the “Punch Rush” billboard in Sacramento and your old drive by method for checking out women—and who is also now a pandemic specialist who’s sister recently recovered from H1N1— NEVER NEVER OH MY GOD EVER mock the death of children under ANY circumstance or context!

You will be remembered for saying what you did here. It will have an effect on your ratings and your reputation. And furthermore, you will have deserved it.

If I were you, I would apologize profusely. The scrape and grovel type, and then perhaps take a vacation. Let Walter Williams take over for a while.

I want Obama to promote beer and apple pie, just so we can watch Beck rave against them.

Well there was that silly beer stunt with the Harvard Professor & the cop but that deserved a healthy dose of mockery… and I don’t think the blithering idiots were enraged by the beer itself. ;)

LOL! Yes Rush mocks dead children all the time. Because that’s what we on the right really truly think is funny. We do this at our tea parties all the time.

In fact he was a little off his game because it sounded a bit like he may’ve been mocking Kathleen Sebelius and the Administration. Totally boring. Let’s get back to making fun of dead kids!!

re: #100 Rightwingconspirator

Thanks! We did that, on the list at the private docs. We’ll hold out for the regular doc in November. The clinics I refer to got it first-so health workers could be first then the distribution went through county health clinics. If you are unemployed-little or no cost. Heh if you ever thought watching a clock seemed to slow time, try a calendar. :)

Again, try living in Oklahoma, where nobody has it yet from what I can see. I’ve called health departments, etc. The ones who answer don’t have it, don’t know when it will arrive. The others have recorded message basically saying the same thing.

195 ohpleaseno  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 5:53:59am

this may be the worst case of Obama Derangement Syndrome I’ve ever seen. Beck needs the vaccine for the H1BAH (He’s one big asshole) virus.

196 Cato the Elder  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 6:48:29am

Rush is a pig.

As for the Silver Gopher, I don’t have six minutes of my life to waste on him.

I guess the argument must be something like if you’re a good Christian fundamentalist home-schoolin’ anti-vaxin’ tea-partyin’ tither with a prayer list and shit, you’re already volunteering and who needs encouragement from a fascist Nazi president? And as for any johnnies-come-lately who might be encouraged to volunteer their services, who needs them? Speshully if they’re libruls.

Beck is a sack of shit and I hope he starts drinking again.

Yeah, what with all the paint killers floating in it, his blood is probably too toxic for swine flu to survive in it anyway.

198 Ramzy  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 7:37:34am

If Rush were to come down with the hamthrax there would be a run on pharma companies that develop scheduled narcotics.

Similarly, Youtube viewership would explode to capture any and all insane “viral” videos produced by Beck in a drug-induced tear-filled bedside video, blaming Obama for surprise strains of influenza.

199 watching you tiny alien kittens are  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 8:40:50am

Hmm…so according to Rush and Beck unless you think volunteering is bad and kids dieing of swine flu is good you are a sucker and a deluded RINO?

I’m really confused and conflicted about this, sorry but I’m just not sure I can get behind that mindset. (not to mention the vote for GOP=vote for Slavery thing of RSM’s)

200 aagcobb  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 9:52:18am

I think I understand. In Beck world, Obama is a commie, so everything the administration supports is a commie plot, including volunteerism, even though a huge amount of volunteerism would seem to reduce the need for government programs. Paranoia is going to be the destroyer of the GOP.

201 jayzee  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 9:54:58am

There is nothing funny about death, but again I really don’t think that Rush was making fun of those who get sick from this (may they all be healed quickly). I think he was making fun of the media’s response to it and how it is being used, rather cynically, as a reason to support the government’s proposed health care initiatives.

I think, thus far, that he is clearly different from Beck too. Beck is really a moron, allied with some very dangerous folk and who comes dangerously close to urging armed rebellion in this country against a democratically elected and fully constitutional government.

As for Ryan-who cares? Some dumbass thinks he’s funny and writes a FB wallpost? The RNC should clean up there more often-they can do that. His point though is somewhat valid-I do know a number of people that supported the candidate Obama (from all walks of life) that now, for various reasons don’t. This is relevant-not unexpected once the honeymoon is over, but politically relevant.

Do spinning corpses generate heat? Do we need some kind of Casket-and Trade bill?
