Pat Buchanan: White Americans Are Losing

Politics • Views: 2,867

In his latest excrescence at the right wing’s craziest “news” site, Pat “Hitler Wasn’t So Bad” Buchanan says “Traditional” Americans are losing their nation.

And by “traditional,” Buchanan means “white.”

It’s mind-boggling that a disgusting person like Pat Buchanan hasn’t been made a pariah by the right wing. No wonder the American public has no confidence in the GOP.

For previous LGF posts on this white supremacist pundit, here’s an LGF search.

Specific to that question, If they want him to speak, it's a free country. I've seen worse speakers be invited to campuses (cough)Columbia (cough).

One of the great things about this country is that we are all free to be total jackasses and to be called on it by others...who usually make jackasses of themselves in the process.

My reason for posting is that I've noticed the trend to lean towards commentary on people such as him, people who been associated with him, and the general overall subject matter that surrounds him. I figured it might be helpful...and I'm holding out for that hat tip.

"Whites are not only more anxious, but also more alienated. Big majorities of whites say the past year's turmoil has diminished their confidence in government, corporations and the financial industry. ... Asked which institution they trust most to make economic decisions in their interest, a plurality of whites older than 30 pick 'none' – a grim statement."

Oh woe is me and my white skin! Who shall cure me of my alienation? Who, among the 88.52% of the white demographic in my city, can comfort me in this time of misery?

In their lifetimes, they have seen their Christian faith purged from schools their taxes paid for, and mocked in movies and on TV.

So in America you aren't free to believe how, where, or what you may? So does that mean the muslims, wiccans, pagans and others get to cry since they haven't even had their faith represented in schools in the first place let alone get a chance to have them 'purged'?

They have seen their factories shuttered in the thousands and their jobs outsourced in the millions to Mexico and China.

Economics, specialization, and free trade are lost on this one. Free trade is a good thing.

The same concern may be found among African Americans---that it's getting so you don't hardly know who's black anymore, there's so much admixture of white. Among Hispanics, Asians, what have you, there is a fear that assimilation will wash out the distinctive features of race and culture.

It will. Something new is in the works. The new America will be such a crazy quilt of races and persons of no particular ancestry that it will be impossible to categorize people by race. By and by, the rest of the world will look at the blend we form and declare that we constitute a race of our own, Americans.

In the meantime, Pat Buchanan has common cause with Quannell X, Spike Lee, and traditionalists from the various other subcultures. Stop the World, we want to get off. Not gonna happen. There won't be a dominant race. There won't be solid, clear lines between races, or cultures. Intermarriage rates are high and rising. Eugenicists can have a cow, but really, if Darwin was even a little bit right, the best genes will somehow or other float to the top. We might end up with skin color suited to our own insolation, noses suited to our own humidity, body builds suited to our own climate, and so on. Dear me, what a scary prospect.

Progressives are the folks who, in the 1960s, could easily understand that urban riots that took scores of lives and destroyed billions in property were an inevitable reaction to racism, poverty and despair. They could empathize with the rage of campus radicals who burned down the ROTC building and bombed the Pentagon.

The "dirty, immoral war in Vietnam" explains why the "finest generation we have ever produced" is behaving like this, they said. We must deal with the "root causes" of social disorder.

Yet, they cannot comprehend what would motivate Middle America to distrust its government . . .

because they're all a bunch of dirty fucking hippies! Just say it Pat.

Ok, well, since you apparently haven't paid attention to my previous posts about Wilders, here's a clue: Geert Wilders will get no publicity from me. He is promoting an ugly, un-American point of view, and if you want to see coverage of his latest publicity stunts, I suggest you send your tips to Pamela Geller or Robert Spencer, who are very comfortable with Wilders' fascist opinions.

Report: Tom Brady is going to hell

The title says it all.

Yes, Tom Brady is going to hell.

Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald pointed out to us this rather critical nugget (for Brady at least) earlier in the week. It seems that the Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, North Carolina has usurped the duties of St. Peter and declared Brady's eternal damnation.

"Tom Brady has an unwed child, but it's okay because he wins Super Bowls," the church said on its web site. "Tom Brady is teaching us to have sex outside of marriage, to commit fornication, don't marry and do the right thing, don't take responsibility for your actions, have a good time no matter who you hurt in this world, go from sex partner to sex partner, and it's okay because of who I am. How many of you dad's [sic] cheer on Tom in the Super Bowl while your kids are watching?"

It’s mind-boggling that a disgusting person like Pat Buchanan hasn’t been made a pariah by the right wing.

But, like lawhawk said upthread, he was.

The late William F. Buckley Jr. expelled Buchanan from the pages of the National Review many years ago for his crudely anti-Semitic rants, which included a very unattractive tinge of admiration for Hitler.

Of course NR isn't the whole right wing. But it is certainly a downhill slide from there to the august pages of WND.

So they say. But all members of the Armed Forces of the United States take an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States and to obey the LAWFUL orders from the Commander-in-Chief and his designates. In August of 1974 a short while before former President Nixon resigned, he attempted to place the U.S. military on ready alert. The Generals, seeing this as threatening to the Constitution, refused the order.
We do not need the Oath Keepers to protect us from our elected government and our Armed Forces. We are well protected enough.

84 S'latch  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 10:38:27am

It is disturbing that in his discussion of legitimate grievances of "Traditional Americans" Pat Buchanan cites a survey of "whites." Obviously, you don't have to be white to be concerned about government waste, crony-capitalism, taxation, illegal immigration, etc. It does suggest that Pat Buchanan thinks all traditional Americans are white.

85 Guanxi88  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 10:38:57am

Buchanan has been a crank and a fraud and a bigot for years now. To hell with Buchanan, already!

He's not in any position of power, and so his loathsome prejudices lack the ability to do much more than to harm those who share or act upon them.

This kinda thing, however, is distressing:
[Link: www.washingtontimes.com...]
"KINSTON, N.C. %P% Voters in this small city decided overwhelmingly last year to do away with the party affiliation of candidates in local elections, but the Obama administration recently overruled the electorate and decided that equal rights for black voters cannot be achieved without the Democratic Party.

The Justice Department's ruling, which affects races for City Council and mayor, went so far as to say partisan elections are needed so that black voters can elect their "candidates of choice" - identified by the department as those who are Democrats and almost exclusively black.

The department ruled that white voters in Kinston will vote for blacks only if they are Democrats and that therefore the city cannot get rid of party affiliations for local elections because that would violate black voters' right to elect the candidates they want."

This, on top of the New Black Panther party business, suggests an eccentric understanding of the electoral process in the Justice Department. This isn't the nonsensical ravings of a neo-coughlinite - this is the Justice Department, people!
These morons have the power to inflict their stupidity on others.

Don't get too down. It's one more that has seen the light than there was before. The wingnuts will do what they will do. The goal is to get the independents and moderates to see what the wingnuts are all about.

96 Guanxi88  Tue, Oct 20, 2009 10:43:43am

And here's Ms. King, the same one who was mixed up in the New Black panther polling place nonsense:

In a letter dated Aug. 17, the city received the Justice Department's answer: Elections must remain partisan because the change's "effect will be strictly racial."

"Removing the partisan cue in municipal elections will, in all likelihood, eliminate the single factor that allows black candidates to be elected to office," Loretta King, who at the time was the acting head of the Justice Department's civil rights division, wrote in a letter to the city.

Ms. King wrote that voters in Kinston vote more along racial than party lines and without the potential for voting a straight Democratic ticket, "the limited remaining support from white voters for a black Democratic candidate will diminish even more."

Ms. King is the same official who put a stop to the New Black Panther Party case. In that case, the Justice Department filed a civil complaint in Philadelphia after two members of the black revolutionary group dressed in quasi-military garb stood outside a polling place on election last year and purportedly intimidated voters with racial insults, slurs and a nightstick.

There is one thing I like about Buchanan.. he is principled and consistent in his views. I respect that even though I disagree with about 90% of those views. This is America, though, and he has a right to them. I'm just glad that he is open about where he stands rather than sticking his finger up to see which way the winds are blowing on any given day.

He was one of the first Republicans to leave the reservation with regards to the Iraq war (because he is a protectionist), and was vilified by the Right for it.

He is also living proof that racism is alive and well in America.

Here's the letter on the DOJ website

The DOJ seems to be obsessed with race in that report.

Black voters have had limited success in electing candidates of choice during recent municipal elections. The success that they have achieved has resulted from cohesive support for candidates during the Democratic primary (where black voters represent a larger percentage of the electorate), combined with crossover voting by whites in the general election. It is the partisan makeup of the general electorate that results in enough white cross-over to allow the black community to elect a candidate of choice.

My point was that I think it was a misguided and poorly executed attempt to attribute a saying to a group.

In poor taste? Oh yeah!
Was it racially motivated? I seriously doubt it.

If I want a good cigar, I want one made by Cuban...in Cuba. If I want a great sports car, I'll go to the italians. If I want to have my backside kicked while trying to invade another country with four of my friends, I'll go see the Israeli's. These are positive attributes sterotyped to certain groups.

I think that's what DeMint was going for when he made the comment...trying to attribute a good piece of wisdom.

He failed in a big way, but I'm not going to outright label him anti-semitic just yet. It does, however, not do well for the GOP as a whole.

Which is surprising, considering how many blatantly anti-semitic, racist, and other-wise distasteful screeds come out of the Democrat party.

Sigh, as an eternal optimist, I'd like to think there's still a group of "Traditional"Americans - those who hold dear the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Emancipation Proclamation, and all the other documents that define our country.

But, my idea of a group of "Traditional Americans" includes - in addition to white males - women, blacks, hispanics, asians, gays, both the rich and the poor, and any other human being who cherishes the idea of America, and - while accepting our faults - holds true to what we can become.

re: #117 Guanxi88

In a majority-black, one-party town?

A town where the majority doesn't vote?

From the DOJ letter:

The American Community Survey for 2005-2007 estimates the total population to be 22,649, of whom 14,967 (66.6%) are African-American. As of October 31, 2008, the city has 14,799 registered voters, of whom 9,556 (64.6%) are African-American.

Although black persons comprise a majority of the city's registered voters, in three of the past four general municipal elections, African Americans comprised a minority of the electorate on election day; in the fourth , they may have been a slight majority.

re: #115 Charles

Have you considered that there might be good reasons to be concerned about black voters being disenfranchised in North Carolina?

Here's the take-away lesson from this little incident:

1) Appearances to the contrary notwithstanding, Ms King of the DOJ is not, in fact, attempting to use federal intervention on behalf of the only operating political party in the town in question;

2) Ms. King is sufficiently justified in her assessment of the racism and bigotry inherent in the minority population (white) in this town that nothing less than branding all candidates with her approved affiliation will ensure that the voting rights of the majority black population are not diluted;

3) The New Black Panther Party's little fiasco at the polling place in Philly, complete with clubs, uniforms, and threats against voters, was not an incident of intimidation or an attempt to influence voter behavior. However, removing the party labels from candidates will almost certainly have this effect.

4) If the Washington Times publishes it, it's not to be trusted, even when we find the DOJ letter from which the bulk of the article is sourced.

He's a protectionist faux populist. A style that has definitely fallen out of favor on the mainstream left, as the left's most prominent economic voice is free trader Paul Krugman. You'll notice John Edwards lost the nomination, and wasn't a particularly serious contender for most of the primary. And his platform espoused a very generous public health care plan, with his protectionist instincts mostly panned. Most "for the worker' policies that come from the left are centered around tax credits and social programs (like EITC), not protectionism.

"America was once their country. They sense they are losing it. And they are right. "

So if you marry someone of the appropriate background, are your children granted half a share? Is there an algorithm for such things?

I notice how PB weaves the "white" thing into the mix, along with the "traditional values." My guess is that he's written essentially the same column a couple of hundred times. There most likely is a way to write software to do such things.

I'd be willing to bet PB doesn't know about it, if there is :)

He says:
"Buchanan's articles are published at every major conservative news site, he has a permanent slot on MSNBC, and is a frequent guest on Fox News, where Sean Hannity refers to him as "the great Patrick J. Buchanan."

He is definitely NOT any kind of pariah."

Wake up to reality.
