British Fascist Leader Echoes Rush Limbaugh

World • Views: 4,248

There’s a huge row going on in Britain over the leader of the fascist, white supremacist British National Party, Nick Griffin, appearing on the BBC’s venerable “Question Time” political analysis show. Now Griffin is gloating that his appearance has enabled the BNP to set a record in telephone donations: BNP: Thank you Auntie for giving us such a boost.

Here’s Griffin’s view of President Barack Obama:

Mr Griffin accused President Obama of being an “Afrocentric racist bigot” whose comments about the legacy of slavery would encourage black youths to attack white children.

And that, of course, is strikingly similar to the view of the patron saint of the right wing, Rush Limbaugh:

“Obama’s America: white kids getting beat up on school buses. You put your kids on a school bus, you expect safety, but in Obama’s America, white kids now get beat up, with the black kids cheering, ‘Yeah! Right on! Right on!’”

When it’s difficult to tell the difference between the statements of the leader of the BNP and the statements of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh …

Houston, we have a problem.

Mr Griffin claimed that on Tuesday, after he compared Britain’s most respected military generals to Nazi war criminals, the BNP enjoyed its “best ever single day” with telephone donations.

BNP: British generals should be hanged for war crimes

Some of Britain’s most respected military commanders have been drawn into an extraordinary public row with the British National Party after the party's leader compared them to Nazi generals hanged for war crimes.

Nick Griffin, the BNP leader, accused General Sir Richard Dannatt and General Sir Mike Jackson, two former chiefs of the general staff, of complicity in “illegal” wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the MPs’ expenses scandal.

Mr Griffin’s attack came after the generals added their names to a new campaign against the BNP's attempts to “steal the valour” of the Armed Forces by using wartime images and slogans.

Foreigners' rights to speak their mind abroad are not subject to protection under American principles of free speech. A little bit of class on the part of these foreigners (and with BNO, it's a lot to ask) would go a long ways toward avoiding having to tell them to fuck off. Substantive criticism of policy from foreigners is Okay by me (like they need my permission) but as an American, I reserve the right to tell foreigners in general (and foreign bigots in general)to refrain from slurring a sitting American President - Americans have the right, they don't.

Nick Griffin is many things: racist, politician, party leader. He is also prescient. He divined the Beck/ugly-o-sphere talking points the day after Obama's election, in an essay:

Obama — The Expected Victory

For at the very heart of Barak Obama there is a deep-seated anti-white racism. Of course he disguised it during his brilliant campaign, but it oozes from between the lines of his autobiography [...]

He detests his own white grandmother when she is frightened by an aggressive black beggar. He is, in short, a true racist bigot.

The bolded lines should sound very familiar to any who is aware of the Limbaugh/Beck/Freeper/Buchananite rhetoric.

That essay blames ACORN, and Obama for the housing collapse, etc.

Quite prescient of Griffin.

I wouldn't call it prescient though. I would call it a simple extrapolation from a racist's fears.

From an experiment undertaken by YouGov for Sky News.

The public like some BNP policies, but not the BNP
[SNIP]
Finally, YouGov asked people if they would seriously consider voting for a party that supported all these policies. In the unattributed group, 37% said yes, 48% said no. In the attributed group the figure is lower, 20% say they would seriously consider voting for the BNP (a figure comparable to the ICM survey in JRRT report that found 18% of people saying they might vote BNP), 66% said no.

Look I really don't think anyone wants to say that you can't criticize a foreign leader to that they can't criticize us.

I think the point is that as an American, hearing another American doing the bashing is one thing, while hearing someone from a country with a history of bashing America anyway, is another.

Not that it is different in terms of rights or content, just that it really does sometimes hit a nerve.

he didn't say you can't, he said they shouldn't and if they do he's intolerant of it...don't parse it into something else...frankly am a little alarmed an American would say such a thing

Right.
My point is that it pisses me off to hear someone, often without a clue about the states and how it really works, trash the President.
It's not a national security issues or anything, it just pisses me off, and I don't like it, and it is disrespectful.
Other than countries that are clearly beyond the pale (Iran, Zimbabwe, NK and the like) I don't do it about other nation's leaders, either.

The situation with Limbaugh and the NFL should have been a wakeup call. Even though Rush's listeners don't hear anything racist everyone else does. Instead of dealing with the problem right wing blogs focused on two questionable quotes and ignored everything else. There was no way for Rush to continue and he was forced to back out. It was a very public embarrassment. This problem is not going to go away until conservatives decide to deal with with it.

Good catch.

I wouldn't call it prescient though. I would call it a simple extrapolation from a racist's fears..

Yeah, I remember seeing a lot of the same arguments from run-of-the-mill racists even prior to the election. This is a good example from an Ohio campaign rally:

Elderly Woman: I'm afraid if he wins, the Black will take over. He's not a Christian! This is a Christian Nation! What is our country 'gunna end up like?

Elderly Man: When you've got a n***r running for President, he ain't a first stringer - he's definitely a second stringer.

Young Man with Baby: He seems like a sheep... err... a wolf in sheep's clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin, she's filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she's going to bring honesty and integrity to the White House.

Mid-Aged Man: He's related to a known terrorist for one.

Older Man: He is friends with a terrorist of this country!

Another Elderly Man: He must support terrorists. You know, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.

Middle-Aged Woman: Just the whole Muslim thing, and everything, I mean everyone is still kinda... a lot of people have forgotten about 9-11 but, I don't know, it's just kind of unnerving.

Older Woman: Obama and his wife, I'm concerned that they could be anti-white... that he might hide that.

Elderly Woman: I don't like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash. Because, we're not!

That's funny.

However, students who had more extreme anti-alcohol views were not more likely to want to express their views, even when they saw the data that suggested a majority of their fellow students agreed with them.

"Their views that they are in the minority may be so deeply entrenched that it is difficult to change just based on our one experiment," she said. "In addition, they don't have the experience expressing their opinions on the subject like the pro-alcohol extremists do, so they may not feel as comfortable."

My favorite was when he claimed that all the satellite data comes from one sensor type in two data sets over the last 30 years - and that it shows no warming...

I may make it a 'We Got Mail' post -- but I haven't decided if that would make him "happy," in that bizarre sado-masochistic way that stalkers have. What a freak this guy is!

I really think you ought to have a top ten best of post for the week. All the stalkers will flood you with traffic trying to see if they made the list, while on the OTOH we can all mock the lunatics. Everyone wins!

esquire
1374, from M.Fr. esquier "squire," lit. "shield-bearer" (for a knight), from O.Fr., from L. scutarius "shield-bearer, guardsman," from scutum "shield" (see hide (n.1)). Cf. squire. Originally the feudal rank below knight, sense broadened 16c. to a general title of courtesy or respect for the educated class, especially, later, in U.S., for lawyers.

"Much research on the effects of elevated CO2 on forest trees has focused on quantitative changes in photosynthesis, secondary chemistry, and plant biomass. However, plant fitness responses to rising CO2 should also include quantitative measures of reproduction, since most forest systems are recruitment limited. Until now, it has proved very difficult to grow forest trees to sexual maturity in a CO2-enriched environment. This paper is the first of its kind to address the effects of elevated CO2 on the reproduction of hardwood trees in a natural forest. Beginning in 1996, scrub-oak vegetation, predominantly three species of scrub-oaks, Quercus myrtifolia, Q. chapmanii, and Q. geminata, were grown inside eight chambers with elevated CO2 (704 parts per million (ppm)) and eight with ambient CO2 (379 ppm) at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. In elevated CO2, acorn production increased significantly for the dominant species Q. myrtifolia and for Q. chapmanii, but it did not increase for the subdominant, Q. geminata. Acorn weight, germination rate, and predation by weevils were unaffected by CO2. Thus, recruitment of some forest tree species into the Florida scrub-oak community is likely to be accelerated in an atmosphere of increased CO2. However, because the acceleration of recruitment differs among species, over the long term, Q. myrtifolia and Q. chapmanii will be favored over Q. geminata and this is likely to change patterns of species diversity."

I said it many months ago, those shovel ready jobs would have been done, stimulus money or not. And they didn't create new jobs. If they were shovel ready, that means contracts had already been given out to the same old bunch of state and local contractors, the same engineers and upper management who usually design and manage these jobs got their cut, and the same administrative folks who are always involved in administrating the money got their share.

Nothing new was created, it was a handout to the unions and contractors that have been benefitting from the public dole for ever.

Don't let anyone tell you different.

I thought I did. Thank you, but I think I got someone to help with a small pick-up. Got a place to go as well. Although, the way you describe your place I am kind of tempted. ;)

I lived in Houston 6 years, never do that again, the armpit of the southwest.

Interstate construction in Houston seems to have been ongoing for 25 years, without stop.

I hate having to drive thru Houston.
I just keep an eye out and keep moving to the center lane until I'm through.

Good luck!

Thanks. I was just clearing a shelf in a closet and ended up almost screaming to myself, "this was all for nothing." Sigh. This was after I dived into a leaking ink cartridge and got in on my hand and arm.

Ok, this is getting too think, it's like some conservative love fest or something, sattv4u2, little Steve, Big Steve, me... would someone debate something?

But I have an ethics dilemma: I am on the local school board. My oldest son plays a sport in high school. He is fair at this sport and probably among the top 10 on the team. However he really hates the coach who is ex-military and brings a lot of military influence to the team. My son also suspects the coach doesn't like him and thereby he gets less playing time. I told my son that going into this year, make the best of it because throughout life you will have bosses that you don't like and you will have to make do. However, without my son's knowledge I have come into some information, very reliable information, that the coach truly doesn't like him and has made some very derogatory comments about my son and some other boys on the team. Now, being on the Board, I am actually in a position to do something about this coach. However, I am debating whether I should or not.

Now this pisses me off. The short form of the article is that China and India agree that since other countries got to pollute, they should have the right to also...

This is where we remind them of our right to go green and not buy their stuff anymore...

Oh wait...
we aren't doing that...

re: #242 Big Steve

My advice ,,, no

Do one of two things

Stay on the board and stay out of it
Quit the board and confront the situation as a parent

re: #242 Big Steve

Depends. Do you think "having a conversation" with the Coach would change anything? Or would it possibly make it worse for your son.
We all run into people who don't like us, and have to learn to deal with it.
IF you decide to do anything, I would think approaching it as a parent, rather than a Board member, would be more likely to be successful.

My 2 cents.

re: #238 sattv4u2

No way I am sitting here naked. It's about 58 degrees in this house. The big expensive pellet stove that my girlfriend paid 2300 dollars for (and 600 installation) has not worked right since we got it. I have replaced the augur assembly twice, and now the factory thinks it's the electronic control board. They are sending me a whole new CPU, so I'll have to install that too.

We have a furnace, but it's a big house, and it uses too much gas to get the house really toasty. There is a pellet stove in the finished basement for the kid-critters. We have an electric blanket on our bed and I sit at my desk with a electric heater.

It's ok, but I'll be glad when I can finally get the pellet stove working (or the idiots ship me another one). I'm getting tired moving a 250 pound stove in and out of the fireplace enclosure by myself and fixing THEIR stupid product.

Englander Stoves in VA. Rememeber that name, don't buy anything from them.

re: #247 Floral Giraffe

see 246,,, Unless he quits the board he'll be veiwed as a baord member interfereing even though he IS a parent. The only way to divorce the two is quit the one. Myself,,, I wouldn't quit the board. I would tell my son exactly what he has told his before. In life you're going to have higher ups that for whatever reason just don;'t like you, regardless if your the best worker or the worst

No. As you know, I've been looking for a full time programming job for 5 years. I think you know, the theatre work pays poop, it's fun, but a poor substitute to the kind of salary I use to make.

I still pick up some private work off and on. Got a project tomorrow in Arvada, a karate studio, broken database.

The CPU controls the pellet dropping motor, the in room blower, the exhaust blower, the vacuum valve (measure the quality of the seal in the firebox so there is no smoke leaking into the room) and the sensor for the ignitor.

You stand ground right now...
Why does your son hate his Coach.. You get right down to it...What does he demand that your son can't deliver? This goes down the issue of playing time...
This is a lifetime teaching moment for your son and yourself...This what what all the talk is about..All the bullshit...
Dedication and hard work...A vision beyond hating the Coach.. Everybody at one time or another hates their coach.. I had a coach in a High school kick me out of a game..The damn ref didn't even boot me..My coach sent me to the shower...There are great lessons to be learned by your son..Great victories and great defeats... Lifelong Victories in the darkest hour. You should be glad your Son hates his coach right now.. You are going to be very proud someday

Yeah, acting doesn't pay except for a select few. It's a little better paying than being a fine art painter. Finding good paying work now is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The far right wing mob is pushing even harder to hang all the moderate RINOs from the nearest tree. They're really after New York Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava today -- she's next on the lynch menu, mainly because of her support for gay marriage.

I was just reading some of the comments on Malkin's site about Dede...so hateful and disgusting. not to mention stupid if you care even the slightest bit about having a functioning, future-oriented GOP. I think the only good thing Malkin has ever done was link to LGF sometime early last year because it introduced me to this sight for the first time. Needless to say, Im now a multiple times per day LGF reader and havent viewed Michelle Malkin as having any authority since she accused Rachel Ray of being a terrorist supporter because of her choice in scarf.

Also, re: Scozzafava, props to the rino's Newt Gingrich and Peter King for displaying at least some common sense and endorsing her.

I don't see a big difference. Both say black kids will attack white kids. Both attribute it to Obama.

re: #6 Guanxi88

any other foreign political org can fuck off when it comes to bad-mouthing an American President. That is a privilege we afford citizens and permanent residents only.

Those who read here know my stance re: Obama. But foreigners got no business opening their mouths on the subject.

I realize this thread is dead but: seriously? You think people should never critizise the leaders of other nations? Obviously not, since I know you do it all the time. So this an American privilege? I cannot believe all the people who updinged this.
