That was in 2000. Five years later Griffin again shared a platform with Duke (as did Simon Darby, Deputy Leader of the BNP), who he supposedly so opposes, at Duke’s ‘European American Unity and Rights Organization’ (EURO) conference.

Others speakers at the conference included:

Paul Fromm - Hitler fan and supporter of Holocaust denial
Michael Collins Piper - anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist and Holocaust denier
Kevin Alfred Strom - neo-Nazi activist (and now convicted paedophile)
Michele Renouf - fervent promoter of Holocaust denial

Did Gellar and Spencer know about that?

Ah. Freedom of speech. You are free to say stupid things and we are free to make fun of you. Of course, that wouldn't be the case if people like Mr Griffin were in charge. Fun would then be rather extraordinarily redefined.

(I find it somewhat amusing that Mr Griffin looks a lot like a younger version - at least in my mind - of Roger Allam
Mr Allam: Image: allam.gif

Mr Allam played the role of Lewis Prothero in V for Vendetta, a mouthpiece for the fascist government.)

I was on the page of the "GOP Spent More Than a Million Dollars to Launch a Disastrous Website" post, and a google ad in the right sidebar said "Websites for Republicans". I clicked on it, and it took me to the site of NetBoots.net, which looked an awful lot like the GOP.com site, but I could not find a connection with Smartech Corporation. NetBoots is owned by TerraEclipse, which has a client list made up of Paulians, plus FreedomWorks.org, which is the Dick Armey/Steve Forbes tea party site. I looked at NetBoots' twitter thingy, and found this article: Will Budget Internet Organizing Save the GOP?

...Netboots is certainly looking for its chunk of Republican campaign cash, but like many politically-focused firms, they have a larger goal: improving the GOP’s standing on the internet. The bigger question facing Netboots and other bottom-dollar political tech firms is how far they go towards accomplishing that goal. ...

Later Eric Odom is quoted. His sites all look like the Terra Eclipse sites too.

In conclusion, I think the GOP.com website is a part of the Paulian campaign to take down or take over the GOP.

The BNP and the Online Fascist Network

On the day before two leading British National Party (BNP) members take their seats in the European Parliament, a new Centre for Social Cohesion report reveals that members and supporters of the BNP and its online activists display significant ideological affinity with key tenets of the neo-Nazi ideology. This included: support for violence; antisemitism and an admiration of the Third Reich; extreme racist views; and Holocaust denial.

I watched John Hiatt during half time on some PBS show...
I stand amazed...I can finger pick every chord he can play...But the man is a genius...He writes music that moves the soul in the key of C..
Holy Cow...He stands on the mountain as we look up from the Valley...

met him after a show in Ann Arbor one time and he let me buy him a beer...really an easy going sort, very down home

I watched him play a wicked song with the Guitar Capo'd at A flat.. The song was played in C minor...I was trying to figure out the true chords to transliterate to paper. I got lost...

Well, Graham tried with the cry of "not the party of angry white men"... That's actually quite a statement if you look at it on face value, for a sitting senator to say in public in front of his own party.

All it got him is the vote to kick him off the island.

I am now convinced that the GOP leadership really is afraid of the proletariate base likely voters.

That the last VP candidate is cheering on non-GOP candidates now, against the GOP, is about as telling as can be.

Furthermore, I am convinced that the Sarah Palins of the the GOP really are their future, for a couple of reasons, but that is not really a good thing for this country. We are witnessing reactionary politics at its full swing.

I've also come to the conclusion that Newt and Dick Armey (through Heritage Foundation and Freedom Works) had no idea what they were doing by wasting their money and political capital on the Tea Parties. The never had any control and the rabid right wing base hates them and the Republican Party. Epic fail.

On the contrary, both of them are true believers who are more concerned about building a religious movement than they are about traditional political party, especially the historical GOP.

Armey has made so many off the wall statements... his distaste for AGW is cast in purely religious terms:

[Link: climateprogress.org...]

The video has been removed from Youtube, but I linked it here when it first came out.

Likewise with Newt, who has been hanging around with theocratic variants of the emotionalism (pentacostal) crowd... which I've also linked here before.

Newt and Armey are fighting the Good Fight, so to speak.

Interview is by Krys Boyd of KERA in Dallas. They're in the middle of pledge drive at the moment, so there are a couple of Please Give Us Money breaks, but all in all it's a very interesting interview.

You advertise for the Whig Party quite a bit here... but for myself (and maybe some others here), the following two tenets of the Whigs cause problems:

STATES RIGHTS — Each state can generally determine its course of action based on local values and unique needs.
SOCIAL ADVANCEMENT — Government should refrain from legislating morality.

So, if the state of Oklahoma says that any woman getting an abortion must have her information made public online... is that an example of "States Rights"?

Was it wrong for Eisenhower to send in the troops because the state of Alabama wouldn't allow black students into school?

98 watching you tiny alien kittens are  Sat, Oct 24, 2009 3:13:04pm

Besides you don't start a third party at the national level, you have to start it locally, city council members, judges, prosecuters. Later you add state senators, mayors, and governors to that. Then you elect people to both the House and the Senate in Washington D.C. from your ticket. Only then do you stand a realistic shot at a run for President of the United States.

Ross Perot and Luap Nor have shown what happens when you try to start from the top without any national base.

"States' Rights" was the rallying cry for the Confederacy and what it stood for. Why would a new Political Party choose such a loaded term?

Probably romanticism. I'm not calling the Modern Whigs racist... they have no track record on these matters.

There is a notion of the "good ol' days" (wrt politics) in the Modern Whig statements online, and I suspect that "states rights" is part of that.

They want to claim some sort of descent from the "original party of Abraham Lincoln"... but therein lay the problem. Lincoln became a Republican 155 years ago... perhaps there was a good reason he bailed on the Whigs, and why they died out?

Not surprising. Remember back to the last election cycle, when the Ronulans swarmed every Internet poll within minutes of it's posting, and did the same to forums, attempting to drown out any dissenting voices.

It's amazing what people who live in basements and have no lives outside of the Web do with their time.

You are rather presuming that that national level will always align with what you think. What if Congress passed a law saying any woman getting an abortion must have her information made public online? Wow, now women in all 50 states are getting bullied, and there's nothing any of their states' governments can do about it.

re: #97 freetoken

I would say states rights would mean that there would be less federal interference in local conditions. But it can't mean going retro on the real advances of the last 150 years.

The part about abortion: from the Whig site, these two things apply:

"SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE — Government should refrain from legislating morality."

and

Abortion

Our members are split on this subject just like the rest of the country. But the bottom line is that this one particular issue should not be the sole basis for which political party people affiliate with. For example, many "pro-choice" voters find themselves agreeing with many traditionally GOP issues while many of those opposed to abortion rights find themselves agreeing with many Democratic issues. Despite this fact, voters too often are pushed to choose one party or the other due to the abortion issue alone. It is time to end the trend of having this one issue become a deal breaker. Each state can determine its course of action like any other public health issue that revolves around medical procedures. The federal government should not get involved or regulate such items as the less involvement by the government in our private lives the better.

In addition, we encourage states to consider additional funding for greater access to adoption for people wishing not to keep a child and for qualified couples or individuals wishing to become parents of adopted children. Responsible safe-haven laws also give people an additional option beyond abortion. We support all policies giving couples additional options beyond abortion, making this practice even more rare.

I think it's a good idea to set aside money so that when I can't work anymore, I have something to live on. If I take that money and spend it on a big house and a nice car, that'd be considered irresponsible. If Washington is going to take money from me under the guise of doing that setting aside for me, and then spend it all, I think the term "irresponsible" must apply a million-fold. That's what happens when you give power to the federal government.

How do you know the GOP doesn't have plans to accommodate mass traffic in the future? They could step up and sponsor the Superbowl, live, and get a million viewers. They might broadcast an entire NASCAR series. Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, a makeover series hosted by Michele Bachmann, Pat Boone singalongs, A Palin Family Christmas, Ron Paul conventions... the possibilities are endless. All online, all at the GOP.

They're just trotting out these insignificant polls to test the waters, and make sure their scripts don't break and servers don't crash when the big traffic comes in.

WTF??? I didn't think that even Paulians were deluded enough to believe their guy is the GOP's "most popular member." You'd think his showing in the 2008 primaries would convince them otherwise.

Graham's ACU rating is a solid A- (90.39 percent), so he's not exactly a Scozzafava. (ducks) His amnesty position and his role in the Gang of 14 are big minuses, though. I'd want him ousted (by voters) for the latter; preserving the Democrat minority's usurped control over the lower court nomination process is just...hideous. When you sign up to caucus with a party you actually do it. You may disagree with your party's majority on certain votes here and there, but you do not work to modify the rules to transfer Congressional procedural control to the other party.

Graham may be right about Paul in several ways, but I'll draw attention to one: Paul ain't a leader. I don't see him doing a lot of leading in the area where he has the most in common with conservatives, and where the administration is hurting Americans the worst - fiscal policy. He was a Libertarian Party member for many years; longtime association with a party of herded cats isn't the best incubator for developing leadership skills. There may be some who defy the odds, but Paul isn't one of them.
