It’s John Hiatt now if you reload.

The other one was an hour-long UC video on global warming for which I’m trying to set aside an hour to watch.

It wasn’t that big a deal. It was over ten years ago, playing in a semi-acoustic blues trio at a local (now long gone) club.

The bigger deal was opening for Johnny Copeland with the same band.

Hiatt is wonderful & I’ll listen later. Right now I’ve got a set of the Duke Elllington Orchestra playing in Fargo ND on Nov 7, 1940 playing. Glorious concert. This was Ray Nance’s first show with the group and was privately recorded by Jack Towers and Dick Burris. If you like big band, this is the real thing.

At least 25 people were killed and 55 others injured when a passenger train drove full-speed into the back of another on Saturday in Giza, southwest of the Egyptian capital, witnesses and police said.

The toll however “may become worse,” a police official at the scene told AFP.

A security services official who declined to give his name said that the trains “were travelling on the same track. One ran into the other as they headed towards Upper Egypt.”

Well, BB King was a gentleman and wonderful guy. I was invited to an award ceremony at the National Endowment for the Arts. They were presenting BB with an award and the head of the Foundation invited me because I was a director of the DC Blues Society.

BB did a little meet and greet after the ceremony and the head of the foundation introduced me to BB as “president of the DC Blues Society.” I corrected him and told him I was just one of the directors. BB said something like, “Anyone doing good things for the blues is all right by me.”

Strangely enough, my introduction to thirties jazz was the Little Rascals film shorts. The sound was very similar to Henderson. It wouldn’t surprise me if he did some of the soundtrack. Then years later I learned about Henderson through a crazy left wing radio show in NYC that used his song Radio Rhythm as its theme song. It took me over ten years, but I eventually found the album and have loved it ever since.

A team of U.N. inspectors went to Iran on Saturday to visit a recently revealed nuclear site, amid new efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program.

The International Atomic Energy Agency experts are slated to examine an unfinished uranium enrichment facility near the holy city of Qom to verify it is for peaceful purposes. Disclosure of its existence last month raised international suspicion over the extent and aim of the country’s nuclear program.

I have! But that was when I was in college, in the late 90s. I got to sit in with a couple of bands when I was there. My brother and sister in law were working in a restaurant, and one of their coworkers was singer/songwriter Toni Price. I think she got discovered that year and started singing full time.

One of my former bandmates has been living in Austin since (I think) 2003. He moved there to join the Asylum Street Spankers.

My bandleader plays a Les Paul sunburst that he bought in the 60s. I’m sure it’s worth a lot.

I once went to a local blues jam and a guitar collector showed up with a vintage Les Paul that was worth something like $90,000. I just looked at it from a few feet away. I figure if I touched it and something went wrong with it I would be in big trouble.

I’m not a Manilow fan (great blues man that he is), but I respect him as a singer.

And I also like Carly Simon. She really is a great singer, and she was a babe back in the day.

What is the best online music guide for Austin?

According to Iran’s news agency, the UN actually sent a thank-you letter, for revealing the existence of that site. Not even the proverbial strongly worded reprimand.

Mr. Ahmadinejad,

Thanks ever so much for letting us know about your new arrival. We know you must be very proud. If there’s ever anything we can do to help - a veto from China, a projected green halo at your next speech, or anything else, please do not hesitate to ask. Please give out best to your wife(ves).

Yours truly,

Ban Ki Moon

Cato, it’s the internet. They get rants & raves & every little thing makes them more important. Move on.

Lizards, I come from einer kleinen Wanderschaft in the Wasteland of the Witless. I could use a little help over here, if any are so inclined.

Though on second thought it may not be worth the candle.

Cato - I wouldn’t even know where to begin. There’s no way they will accept anything, they’re out for blood. I agree with Flo:

And speaking of PT, I enjoy this fan video very much. It’s all good, but if your time is limited, serious lift-off commences at the 2:10 mark.

Thanks for this Charles. I had the distinct pleasure of playing on John´s ¨Slow Turning¨ album. It was after a session and Sonny was in the car with me when the Nashville cops pulled me over and made us walk the line. We passed because not a drop had been drunk. If they had waited another couple hours, we´d be getting out of jail any day now.

Saw Sonny recently at the Birchmere in VA. Sold out house. Amazing technical skills, and an intuitive feeling for mathematics of music. Great band backing him up. Even bought a tee shirt, not to mention CD’s.
Thanks for the video…priceless…
