It's going beyond individuals at this point. Populist economic nonsense based on fictional characters like John Galt and New World Order conspiracies are now mainstream on the right. Conservatives are ruining their brand. The Ideology will survive but what it's going to look like when it comes out on the other end of this nonsense is anybody's guess.

67 That's Glenn Beck to you  Thu, Nov 12, 2009 7:59:30pm

Well I have to say that I got a chuckle or two watching this.

Not because it is funny or anything - it isn't.

I laughed because Cartman and the folks at SouthPark got it all wrong.

Here - let me put it on my chalkboard -

1) Smurfs are Belgian

Belgian is almost French. And if there is something worse than the French it is Belgians. They can't stand America. Ever had Belgian beer? I can't anymore because I am an alcoholic, but what is with sweet beer?

2) Smurfs are Blue

As in Blue state. Now I know that Belgium is part of the European Union and if you made a political map of Europe it would be all blue. But Belgium would be the bluest. Like Veronica in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after she eats the blue experimental candy. Expanding. Blue. So blue it is about to explode blue all over the place.

3) I really don't have something for three ...

But that isn't important - Belgian and Blue is enough to show that I would be the last guy to defend the smurfs.

Unless, of course, the people at SouthPark want you to think I am pro smurf.

Think about that ...

Good grief. Albusteve, you're right about people being asleep.

His presentations for school were often laced with extremist Muslim views, one source said.

"Is your allegiance to Sharia law or the United States?" students once challenged Hasan, the source said.

"Sharia law," Hasan responded, according to the source.

The incident was corroborated by another doctor who was present.

The source recalled another instance in which Hasan was asked if the U.S. Constitution was a brilliant document. Hasan replied, "No, not particularly," according to the source.

Someone at the RNC Must be Fired Over This

Let’s keep this simple. Word got out today via Politico that the RNC’s health care package for their employees covers abortions. At the risk of belaboring the obvious, if you at any time have donated to the RNC since 1991 (when this policy apparently took place), some incremental portion of your donation went to the administrative costs of running the RNC, including employee salaries and benefits packages. Part of “benefits packages” in this context is apparently a health care package that pays for abortions.

For thirty years, we have fought tooth and nail to prevent our tax money from being used to pay for abortions. Turns out, we were apparently doing it through donating to the political party that was ostensibly on our side. This betrayal is so fundamental to the majority of people who donate to the RNC that it’s almost unspeakable. I have no doubt that many of the staffers there will miss the point, so allow me to make it clearly: you have caused every person who donated to support your livelihood to become involved in what they perceive to be a grave moral evil.

The RNC’s defense thus far seems to be excusable negligence; blaming it on some (surely departed) staffer who checked a box almost 20 years ago, and whoops, we weren’t careful enough. So sorry. It won’t happen again.

Not good enough.

Not even close.

Companies regularly renegotiate health contracts - every year or every two years at most. Someone, at the very least, a human resources person, looks over these contracts. Or at least, that is their job. If they were unclear about what it said, they have these things called lawyers who can help.

In order for the RNC to regain the trust of their donors, they must disclose the names of all people involved in any way of the selection of their health care plan. And those people must be summarily fired. No severance packages, no golden parachutes; fired. For cause.

No pro-lifer in good conscience can give them a dime until this happens.

IF YOU HAVE DONATED TO THE RNC AT ANY TIME SINCE 1991 CALL THEM AT[no phone numbers allowed]. GET NAMES. DEMAND REFUNDS UNLESS THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. IF THEY DON’T HEAR DIRECTLY FROM YOU THEY WILL DO NOTHING.

I think it's simple PCness gone awry. That type of response can lead to an acceptance of Sharia laws if left unchecked. I say PCness because it's applied to many other atypical abhorrent behaviors that are accepted by the polite society due to various fears.

Now they biggest fear? This happened in the United State Army. Imagine now what other things or personalities are going unchecked. There's probably a "security hole" as wide as the Pacific.

Blast Strikes U.S. Military Base in Kabul

KABUL (Reuters) - An explosion hit one of the main U.S. military bases in Kabul early on Friday, the military said.

Sergeant First Class Kevin Bell, a spokesman for U.S. and NATO-led forces, said the blast struck at Camp Phoenix, a giant base near the airport in the Afghan capital, used mainly by U.S. troops and also some from other NATO allies.

He gave no further details.

An Afghan police source said the blast was caused by a suicide bomber. The area had been sealed off by Western forces, and he believed there were casualties, he said.

Schoolboy 'bullied by Muslims over salami sandwich'

A COUPLE has withdrawn their two children from a public primary school, claiming their son was bullied by Muslim students because he ate a salami sandwich during Ramadan.

Andrew Grigoriou said yesterday he complained to the school and to police after his son Antonios, 11, was chased and later assaulted by Muslim students after a confrontation over the contents of his lunch.

Antonios, a Year 5 student of Greek-Australian background at Punchbowl Public School in Sydney's southwest, said he and a friend had to be locked inside the library for an hour after being chased by a group of Muslim boys offended by his choice of food while they were fasting.

The Grigoriou family said the following exchange took place:

Muslim student to Antonios: "Why are you eating ham, it's Ramadan?"

Antonios: "My mum packed this for lunch today."

Muslim student: "Don't eat that. How can you eat pig, it's disgusting."

Mr Grigoriou said he removed his son and a younger child from the school on Tuesday after the boy was punched in the eye and kicked in the legs by a Muslim student.

Sure we can. Afghanistan was Bush's war, and if we hadn't been such big meanies to the Arab world, they wouldn't want to fight us.

*spit*

Part of me wishes he'd just come out with it and announce that he was cutting and running from Afghanistan and Iraq. If you're not fighting a war to win it, why waste your time and fight it at all.

For all the McCain-Palin hate that goes on here, I doubt we'd have to worry about if they were really committed to winning the wars overseas.

For all the McCain-Palin hate that goes on here?

Tell me about Sarah Palin's military experience besides dealing with Levi Johnston. Is she anything like Ike?

I think Cartman was a mashup of Beck, Limbaugh and Hannity.

Context please...

This scene was part of a series of increasingly over the top fantasies by made up by Cartman in the Fishsticks episode. Since he's portrayed as being anti-semitic among a host of other things that make him out to be the "town asshole" something like this is within his wretched character and not meant to be offensive.

He is, after all, the same character that dressed as Hitler for Halloween, organized a pogrom against red-heads, and blamed the Jewish kid Kyle for 9/11.

You're absolutely correct. Context is important and thank you for providing it. I can totally respect your opinion, but for me I guess I just can't find that funny. I liked South Park a lot, but I don't believe that part (along with a couple of others) was acceptable. I just think the writers crossed the line by putting it in the show.

It's also the reaction of the viewers of that portion of the show that disturb me. After that episode, people I talked to, comments online, and unfortunately most people that watched that show were laughing at the "Jewbots" being burned, not the fact that Cartman is an idiot for having that fantasy. I was just disgusted, but I can understand if other people don't see it that way.

ArchangelMichael is correct. Cartman is a major asshole and the only character that hates the Jews. And by the way, Matt Stone--one of the creators of the show--is Jewish. Not a religiously observant one, but also not a self loathing one.

South Park rips on everyone. Funny how all the other shows that were offensive to other people did not offend you enough to turn you off, but once it hit home to you, you had enough.

#1 Just because the creator is Jewish, doesn't mean he can't be offensive to Jews. If you believe otherwise, you're really missing a lot of news and history.

#2 It's not about "ripping" on people. This is different. It's not about "hitting home." Making fun of anyone in general is fine. Making fun of the way millions of Jews were murdered only 70 years ago is not okay.
