God did Trey and Matt get Beck down to a tee. Loved having Butters represent the people who eat what he says right up. The Smurf angle was hilarious as well.
Does Wendy really want to replace the dollar with the amero? Why would she want to do that? Just askin...
Hey, Wendy is all for the North American Union and the Superhighway of Illegal smurfgration that will run from the tip of South America to Sarah Palin's Home in Alaska!
no it isn't...it's an ideology, a style of living...people become jokes
It's going beyond individuals at this point. Populist economic nonsense based on fictional characters like John Galt and New World Order conspiracies are now mainstream on the right. Conservatives are ruining their brand. The Ideology will survive but what it's going to look like when it comes out on the other end of this nonsense is anybody's guess.
You missed the sekrit deleted scene. The surviors of Smurf village kidnap Azrael (Gargamel's cat) take the cat to New York and drop it down Roger Ailes pants in revenge.

I wonder too...I look forward to the mid term election more than I ever have...maybe we will get a better sense of how much influence the far right has...but certainly, based on the media and blogs it doesn't look good...but there are tons of moderate voters out there...we'll see
The best thing about South Park is that they go after every ideology equally and often with the same hilarity. There were a lot of liberals who were real offended after South Park spoofed Gore and Global Warming but that episode to me was hilarious. As long as there are going to be people out there like Glenn Beck then South Park will be among the funniest shows on TV.

But Kyle's mom is the biggest bitch in the whole wide world.
I used to work with this woman--she had the classroom across from mine. I realized at some point that after speaking to her I often found myself--entirely without thinking about it--humming the "Kyle's Mom Is A Bitch" song.

The mohammed episode was funny as hell. Everyone in town put their heads in the sand...hahahahahahaha.

My daughter made "Kyle's Mom is a Bitch" her ringtone for my calls.
I was thinking that when he got his hair done the way they did it was of Rush but upon further looking I realized it was more of Beck not Limbaugh. I wanted them to spoof the Ron Paul fan club last year honestly but I guess it wasn't on their radar.
Well I have to say that I got a chuckle or two watching this.
Not because it is funny or anything - it isn't.
I laughed because Cartman and the folks at SouthPark got it all wrong.
Here - let me put it on my chalkboard -
1) Smurfs are Belgian
Belgian is almost French. And if there is something worse than the French it is Belgians. They can't stand America. Ever had Belgian beer? I can't anymore because I am an alcoholic, but what is with sweet beer?
2) Smurfs are Blue
As in Blue state. Now I know that Belgium is part of the European Union and if you made a political map of Europe it would be all blue. But Belgium would be the bluest. Like Veronica in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after she eats the blue experimental candy. Expanding. Blue. So blue it is about to explode blue all over the place.
3) I really don't have something for three ...
But that isn't important - Belgian and Blue is enough to show that I would be the last guy to defend the smurfs.
Unless, of course, the people at SouthPark want you to think I am pro smurf.
It would be funny if it was supposed to be, but Southparkstudios.com has the clutzsiest dumbass website design, not to mention functionality, I have come across since at least 10 years ago; and I'm a ddamned fan of South Park for crissakes!
The area has been sealed off, "may be casulties" suicide bomber (this is where Western forces are located in Kabul, Afghanistan.) Reuters report (from BBC World)

Well, as long as I can view their episodes online in full-screen mode I don't care what their website looks like. It does hang up IE, so I watch in Firefox.
Looks like Allah over at Hot Air has finally settled on a strategy for dealing with the RNC's health insurance plan.
I wonder how this story happened. Did a couple of lefty insurance agents at Cigna leak it to Politico unbidden or did Politico go calling around at Cigna until it found a pair of lefty insurance agents willing to leak?
Your Papa should stop drinking Belgian beer and mind his manners.
Until he does, I have this framed picture of Martin Luther King to comfort me. He too took abuse from people like Papa Smurf. [sob]
LIES! Anti-Smurfic lies! Next I suppose you'll cite The Protocols of the Elders of Smurf? Spread more anti-Smurf propaganda. It's not enough that we suffer at the hands of Gargamel and Azriel , we have to suffer ignorant fools like Wendy and you too!
Former classmates of Major Hasan say he was always an Islamist. They spoke anonymously, which says something about something, not sure what at this hour.

The comments are of course, predictable.
That's it? So instead of thinking about the double standards, hypocrisy, etc., the only thing they get out of that is "blame the lefties?" IOW, they're saying it should have been kept a secret.
Nice to know where they're coming from. Of course, nothing new really.
The area has been sealed off, "may be casulties" suicide bomber (this is where Western forces are located in Kabul, Afghanistan.) Reuters report (from BBC World)
A bomb explosion outside Pakistan's main intelligence agency in the northwestern city of Peshawar has left at least 7 people killed and 35 others wounded.
The bomb attack on the agency, which was overseeing much of the anti-terror campaign in the border regions with Afghanistan, came in the early hours of Friday, the Associated Press reported.
Former classmates of Major Hasan say he was always an Islamist. They spoke anonymously, which says something about something, not sure what at this hour.
has Sharia Law crept into the equation?...it is forbidden to criticize Islam, so where did the case against Hasan stall?...who dropped the ball and why?...funny how the story has shifted eh?

For too long Smurfs have been protected by a PC bubble. I and thousands of Americans recognize what the smurf menace is doing to this great country of ours and we aren't going to take it anymore. We will march on Brussels on 12/12! Millions of us will be there to bring attention to the blue fascist menace and its megalomaniac leader Papa Smurf!
Good grief. Albusteve, you're right about people being asleep.
His presentations for school were often laced with extremist Muslim views, one source said.
"Is your allegiance to Sharia law or the United States?" students once challenged Hasan, the source said.
"Sharia law," Hasan responded, according to the source.
The incident was corroborated by another doctor who was present.
The source recalled another instance in which Hasan was asked if the U.S. Constitution was a brilliant document. Hasan replied, "No, not particularly," according to the source.
How can an officer in the U.S. Military say this and not be questioned?

Let’s keep this simple. Word got out today via Politico that the RNC’s health care package for their employees covers abortions. At the risk of belaboring the obvious, if you at any time have donated to the RNC since 1991 (when this policy apparently took place), some incremental portion of your donation went to the administrative costs of running the RNC, including employee salaries and benefits packages. Part of “benefits packages” in this context is apparently a health care package that pays for abortions.
For thirty years, we have fought tooth and nail to prevent our tax money from being used to pay for abortions. Turns out, we were apparently doing it through donating to the political party that was ostensibly on our side. This betrayal is so fundamental to the majority of people who donate to the RNC that it’s almost unspeakable. I have no doubt that many of the staffers there will miss the point, so allow me to make it clearly: you have caused every person who donated to support your livelihood to become involved in what they perceive to be a grave moral evil.
The RNC’s defense thus far seems to be excusable negligence; blaming it on some (surely departed) staffer who checked a box almost 20 years ago, and whoops, we weren’t careful enough. So sorry. It won’t happen again.
Not good enough.
Not even close.
Companies regularly renegotiate health contracts - every year or every two years at most. Someone, at the very least, a human resources person, looks over these contracts. Or at least, that is their job. If they were unclear about what it said, they have these things called lawyers who can help.
In order for the RNC to regain the trust of their donors, they must disclose the names of all people involved in any way of the selection of their health care plan. And those people must be summarily fired. No severance packages, no golden parachutes; fired. For cause.
No pro-lifer in good conscience can give them a dime until this happens.
IF YOU HAVE DONATED TO THE RNC AT ANY TIME SINCE 1991 CALL THEM AT[no phone numbers allowed]. GET NAMES. DEMAND REFUNDS UNLESS THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. IF THEY DON’T HEAR DIRECTLY FROM YOU THEY WILL DO NOTHING.
Anderson Cooper had on a report in which the reporter quoted a fellow student who said Hasan's contacting radical clerics so as to do "research" on suicide bombing was a joke -- a complete joke...laughable to call it "research." (Hasan was apparently allowed to do zero scholarly work, and get away with it.)
Yeah, betrayal. I'm sure if those boneheads looked even closer they'd be even more disappointed. Not happy with being carnivores within their own party candidates now they are going to use this to go after the RNC health insurance policy with Cigna whose CEO is essentially a Republican himself.
BBC World -- International base...Kabul, Afghanistan...has been hit -- initial reports said it was a suicide bomber...that may be revised...reports still coming in.
our vaunted Armed Forces seems to have some weaknesses deciding just who is a threat, meanwhile we shakedown little old ladies in airports looking for illegal shampoo...we are fucked

ABC's conformation of those business cards found in his apartment and his surfing habits at jihad sites are very telling.
Gotta go, big day tomorrow. Wife's getting an endoscopy, hoping to find the cause of recurring abdominal pains. HoosierHoops, if you pass through tonight, put that on the prayer list, please.
exactly. To report Hasan would risk/jeopardise one's military career.
As well as any career after leaving the military. Get canned from a job for being discriminatory and you'll have a very hard time finding another job. That's a big fat resume blemish and it stays with you for a very long time.

some legal people are saying that his only defense at this point may be an insanity plea...(it's difficult, but they may be all they've got to keep Hasan from facing a death sentence.)

Paralyzed by political correctness. If he had been, oh, a Serbian revanchist objecting to the mission in Bosnia, he would have been bounced tout de suite.
No, just typical. Getting the boot for failing to notice an impending disaster is actually not as bad as being thought a bigot. Given a year or two, you can generally explain it away.

I'm curious if Hasan would allow that. Most of these jihadists are too proud of their crimes for Allah to please insanity.
so can we call that an expression of Sharia Law?...or am I a lunatic?
I think it's simple PCness gone awry. That type of response can lead to an acceptance of Sharia laws if left unchecked. I say PCness because it's applied to many other atypical abhorrent behaviors that are accepted by the polite society due to various fears.
Now they biggest fear? This happened in the United State Army. Imagine now what other things or personalities are going unchecked. There's probably a "security hole" as wide as the Pacific.
Seems like they're busier going after homosexuals instead. There's a lot of confusing and hypocritical issues here.
KABUL (Reuters) - An explosion hit one of the main U.S. military bases in Kabul early on Friday, the military said.
Sergeant First Class Kevin Bell, a spokesman for U.S. and NATO-led forces, said the blast struck at Camp Phoenix, a giant base near the airport in the Afghan capital, used mainly by U.S. troops and also some from other NATO allies.
He gave no further details.
An Afghan police source said the blast was caused by a suicide bomber. The area had been sealed off by Western forces, and he believed there were casualties, he said.
just an aberration...a lone killer that had a multitude of personal and social problems...we will study him, determine his motive, rewrite the case histories, design some classes to protect him from himself...and wait for the next giant gun down

Here's Strategy Page's take on Hasan the shitbird:
BO was on TV everyday a couple of months ago, campaigning for his urgent, do or die Obamacare bill...passing it was paramount to saving lives...now where is he?...unemployment hovers over 10%...jobs are scarce...Afghanistan is screaming for some action and BO hides out...suddenly he has nothing to say, and heads for Asia, where the action is

I hope that Colin Powell and all those Republicans who voted for Obama are happy with themselves.
Perhaps that's also a message to Hamid Karzai who thinks it's OK to rape your wife under the law of Islam along with his drug lord brother. Meanwhile, it's been alleged that some US contractors are paying of insurgents for safe passage through that nation.

He figures if he gets out of the country and off TV for a few days his poll numbers might stop dropping.
A COUPLE has withdrawn their two children from a public primary school, claiming their son was bullied by Muslim students because he ate a salami sandwich during Ramadan.
Andrew Grigoriou said yesterday he complained to the school and to police after his son Antonios, 11, was chased and later assaulted by Muslim students after a confrontation over the contents of his lunch.
Antonios, a Year 5 student of Greek-Australian background at Punchbowl Public School in Sydney's southwest, said he and a friend had to be locked inside the library for an hour after being chased by a group of Muslim boys offended by his choice of food while they were fasting.
The Grigoriou family said the following exchange took place:
Muslim student to Antonios: "Why are you eating ham, it's Ramadan?"
Antonios: "My mum packed this for lunch today."
Muslim student: "Don't eat that. How can you eat pig, it's disgusting."
Mr Grigoriou said he removed his son and a younger child from the school on Tuesday after the boy was punched in the eye and kicked in the legs by a Muslim student.
Sure we can. Afghanistan was Bush's war, and if we hadn't been such big meanies to the Arab world, they wouldn't want to fight us.
*spit*
Part of me wishes he'd just come out with it and announce that he was cutting and running from Afghanistan and Iraq. If you're not fighting a war to win it, why waste your time and fight it at all.
For all the McCain-Palin hate that goes on here, I doubt we'd have to worry about if they were really committed to winning the wars overseas.

Actually, there is very little hostility directed towards John McCain. Sarah Palin gets ripped on because of her poor decisions, not because most of us think she's a bad person.

true enough...there is an enormous amount of time and energy spent here exposing right wing lunatics...it's that important to people that they have taken their eye off the ball...people are dying in Afghanistan and most posters are way more concerned with what Glenn beck is saying
Trying to get cavemen to join the modern world only works until they see one of those Geico commercials. Then they get all pissed off again.
///
They're always pissed off. Pakistan is a rogue state. Always was and always will be. Right before this whole debacle started off they and India were about to nuke each other. Right now we're negotiating with Pakistan to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan. A good deal of Pakistanis are on the side of the Taliban. This after they assassinated Benazir Bhutto.
Full metal sharia. When they're not busy wanting to nuke India. Nice allies we have.
I hate the feeling that we're just kicking the can down the road, postponing the hard decisions for someone else.
BO campaigned in favor of this war...that was over a year ago...in last March he said he had a plan but never followed up on it...what are we supposed to think?
I don't like Glenn Beck, but he's not sitting in the White House or in Congress, nor is he an elected official. I can (and do) turn him off or change the channel, but I can't change who's in charge of the nation.
For all the McCain-Palin hate that goes on here, I doubt we'd have to worry about if they were really committed to winning the wars overseas.
I doubt McCain (forget Palin) could figure out how to win unwinnable wars any better than Obama can. But he'd make belligerent noises, and that would satisfy people like you.

That's right. Afghanistan was the 'good war' and he was going to fight to win. What happened to that?
"People like me." Can't wait to hear what "people like me" want. If you're going to call someone a name, don't leave them guessing what you think they are.

Tell me about Sarah Palin's military experience besides dealing with Levi Johnston. Is she anything like Ike?
BO took on this thing, are you abandoning him?...he promised to win this fight...do his words mean anything to you?
Does reality mean anything to you? How many more trillions of dollars, thousands of lives and dozens of months are you willing to pour into Afghanistan? Especially when al Qaeda is now in Pakistan?
If you can tell Obama how to "win", I'm sure he'd be damn grateful.
What would a win in Afghanistan look like? Open question to the board. When do we get to say we're done?
BO needs to decide that...and obviously he can't...as for me I've posted volumes about this war...either we own Afghanistan or we get out, I say we own it...empire building I guess...since they can't manage their own afairs, we'll do it for them...if not, withdraw in defeat and let the whole country burn inder Tali rule

he would as clueless as he is...it's all in or all out...he was gonna win this fight so show us how he's gonna payback his voters...clean it up BO!, you bigshot...show us the beef!

I repeat, what would a win look like? When you say, manage their affairs, what does that mean? Karzai? Appointing a regent? What do we do? And for how long?
Oh, no - McCain only promised there would be more wars, in addition to the ones we've got. Nothing belligerent there.
there may be more wars if we want to defeat Islamic militarism...where do you stand on the War on Terror?...defeat them in the courts?...if Afghanistan is a loser, which it appears to be, just say so

So we stay there forever until Afghans turn into Minnesotans? Nice, polite Minnesotans who don't think in terms of clans and valleys, but of statehood? Who don't grow poppies for a living and eschew tribal rivalry? Who beg us to stay when we threaten to leave, because dey wuv us for our music? They who outlasted the Greeks, the Brits and the Soviets? We own that?

I just have the same question I had in the fall of 2001--how do you win a war against an NGO? How do you win a war against a whole endlessly mutating series of them?
I repeat, what would a win look like? When you say, manage their affairs, what does that mean? Karzai? Appointing a regent? What do we do? And for how long?
rule them ourselves...forever...what does BO say?...at least I have a solution as ugly as it is...I didn't campaign on defeating the Taliban and freeing the country...he did...it appears he either lied or has no clue whatsoever...
I'll be using it for the first time in hopefully a good health situation, I have Epilepsy. I'm going to have a sleep deprived EEG to see if they can tell where my seizures originate. I'll have to be awake for 20 to 24 hours and they said I can bring in a laptop, they have wi-fi in the hospital.
I repeat, what would a win look like? When you say, manage their affairs, what does that mean? Karzai? Appointing a regent? What do we do? And for how long?
I think we should keep fooling ourselves. Fact is we're dealing with museum pieces. It will go nowhere in the long run unless we're willing to fight a thousand year war. As it stands now most Americans want us to pull out according to recent polls.
So we stay there forever until Afghans turn into Minnesotans? Nice, polite Minnesotans who don't think in terms of clans and valleys, but of statehood? if we don't fight them, we will have to contain them...I've suggested that many times here...I see no reason to get further tangled up over there...make it our mission to destroy Paki nukes and kill any militants that step outside of Afghanistan...if possible...continued air strikes and assasinations of Tali leaders...etc
rule them ourselves...forever...what does BO say?...at least I have a solution as ugly as it is...I didn't campaign on defeating the Taliban and freeing the country...he did...it appears he either lied or has no clue whatsoever...
OK, Obama lied, or has no clue whatsoever. I'm not here to defend Barack Obama's plans for Afghanistan.
But seriously, the thought of trying to go literally empire building at this late hour fills me with despair. We rule Afghanistan forever...sort of...what about Pakistan? What happens when we leave Iraq? What are we going to do about Iran? This is already starting to feel like a game of Twister.
Your solution strikes me as not only ugly but impractical.

It's a tragedy. Won't ever happen. Even if they sent in a million troops.

it's not at all impractical if, like Cato say, you toss trillions at it...these are scenarios I'm suggesting...that's the shit part...the other is get off the pot
and that solution will lead to incalculable suffering for the common people over there...which is it?...BO is supposed to be figuring this all out for us...meanwhile our own people are dying
OK So we're going to spend what? 3 million per enemy combatant? How long is that going to last? This isn't like shooting down a Mig-17. We're running out of money. The cost of this war isn't free over the long run.
and that solution will lead to incalculable suffering for the common people over there...which is it?...BO is supposed to be figuring this all out for us...meanwhile our own people are dying
I'm sure McCain would have seen an obvious solution that hasn't occurred to Obama or anyone here yet.

Incalculable suffering in Afghanistan is an absolute given. As for Obama, I'm awfully damn glad I don't have his job.
It's not very exciting to anyone who isn't me. It just struck me that the fact that my father acted out when my mother did household chores throughout my childhood might just have something to do with the fact that I am the world's most inept housekeeper.
If Daddy gets huffy and sad because Mommy is doing the dishes, what is the logical response?--AVOID DOING THE DISHES!
I was thinking that when he got his hair done the way they did it was of Rush but upon further looking I realized it was more of Beck not Limbaugh. I wanted them to spoof the Ron Paul fan club last year honestly but I guess it wasn't on their radar.
I think Cartman was a mashup of Beck, Limbaugh and Hannity.
Funny clip, but Not really a big fan of SouthPark after they got invaded by "Jewbots" (which is fine), and the solution was killing them by burning them (which is pretty damn offensive).

Context please...
This scene was part of a series of increasingly over the top fantasies by made up by Cartman in the Fishsticks episode. Since he's portrayed as being anti-semitic among a host of other things that make him out to be the "town asshole" something like this is within his wretched character and not meant to be offensive.
He is, after all, the same character that dressed as Hitler for Halloween, organized a pogrom against red-heads, and blamed the Jewish kid Kyle for 9/11.
You're absolutely correct. Context is important and thank you for providing it. I can totally respect your opinion, but for me I guess I just can't find that funny. I liked South Park a lot, but I don't believe that part (along with a couple of others) was acceptable. I just think the writers crossed the line by putting it in the show.
It's also the reaction of the viewers of that portion of the show that disturb me. After that episode, people I talked to, comments online, and unfortunately most people that watched that show were laughing at the "Jewbots" being burned, not the fact that Cartman is an idiot for having that fantasy. I was just disgusted, but I can understand if other people don't see it that way.

ArchangelMichael is correct. Cartman is a major asshole and the only character that hates the Jews. And by the way, Matt Stone--one of the creators of the show--is Jewish. Not a religiously observant one, but also not a self loathing one.
South Park rips on everyone. Funny how all the other shows that were offensive to other people did not offend you enough to turn you off, but once it hit home to you, you had enough.

#1 Just because the creator is Jewish, doesn't mean he can't be offensive to Jews. If you believe otherwise, you're really missing a lot of news and history.
#2 It's not about "ripping" on people. This is different. It's not about "hitting home." Making fun of anyone in general is fine. Making fun of the way millions of Jews were murdered only 70 years ago is not okay.
