Blue is the color of heaven... a heaven textured by the most transient of residents, the vapors of water condensed.

Peaceful scene, an elegant scene, and that calls for some elegant singing:

The only reason Chavez remains in power is because of our oil imports filling his coffers. We sometimes complain about these petty dictators, then, like in the case of Saddam Hussein (whose power was also almost entirely dependent on oil revenues) have to spend a lot of money taking them out because we perceive them as a threat to our security.

Or we support "allies" like the feudal monarchs of Saudi Arabia, who purchase domestic peace an cooperation by funding the teaching of Wahabism, a particularly virulent and anti-Western form of Fundamentalist Islam.

Obama says al Qaeda still greatest threat to U.S.

U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday the greatest threats to the United States continued to be terrorist networks like al Qaeda.

"I continue to believe that the greatest threat to the United States' security are the terrorist networks like al Qaeda," he told students at a town hall meeting in Shanghai. "They have now moved over the border of Afghanistan and are in Pakistan, but they continue to have networks with other extremist organizations in that region and I do believe it is important for us to stabilize Afghanistan."

I hope this means cut and run fantasies from moonbats to paleo-con isolationists are toast.

98 Sharmuta  Mon, Nov 16, 2009 1:26:02am

FACT CHECK: Palin's book goes rogue on some facts

PALIN: Describing her resistance to federal stimulus money, Palin describes Alaska as a practical, libertarian haven of independent Americans who don't want "help" from government busybodies.

THE FACTS: Alaska is also one of the states most dependent on federal subsidies, receiving much more assistance from Washington than it pays in federal taxes. A study for the nonpartisan Tax Foundation found that in 2005, the state received $1.84 for every dollar it sent to Washington.

It's a sizable list, and embarrassing to boot.

In college we would sometimes raid the men's room because the line for the women's room was beyond long. Someone would pop her head in and tell the fella's to cover it up because we were coming in. Highly amusing, especially if one had a few ounces of adult beverage in one. Highly necessary, too.

Hmm, so it would appear the drug companies have been saying one thing while doing another, again. I'm just shocked, shocked I tell you.

Drug firms raise prices in face of health reform
Industry aims to set higher price base before legislation passes, critics say

Even as drug makers promise to support Washington’s health care overhaul by shaving $8 billion a year off the nation’s drug costs after the legislation takes effect, the industry has been raising its prices at the fastest rate in years.

In the last year, the industry has raised the wholesale prices of brand-name prescription drugs by about 9 percent, according to industry analysts. That will add more than $10 billion to the nation’s drug bill, which is on track to exceed $300 billion this year. By at least one analysis, it is the highest annual rate of inflation for drug prices since 1992.

This is why we can't have nice things healthcare.

Went yesterday to a little bakery. Went well. Lady said there might be some early mornings. I told her I am usually up around 4AM. I also have to call about a job that wants me to start next week, but training for 2 weeks will be in Tampa. About 60 miles from my house.

The job where I would have to go to Tampa for 2 weeks is a national chain that isn't in this part of the state. Actually, they are barely in the state. The franchise owners are very aggresive and the words that got me intrested were "opportunity for growth."
