Usually I love the onion, but, this doesn't seem as sharp as their usual stuff. Six months ago, it would've been hilarious, but, I feel like I've heard the TOTUS jokes 1 too many times.
You notice I haven't bragged once about the game...But jeez..Have you ever seen anything like it?
Hey Hoops!! The game was a ball breaker alright, but, just a game. I cannot believe the reaction! It is a bit over the top. They had a 50/50 shot, had they made it, they would have been world beaters. The outrage over a football play, I find vastly amusing! (And I am a die hard Pats fan!)
Things are well here, finally slowing down for the winter, so I will hopefully have more time to be social, especially since my husband un-retired. Lots of time home alone during the day now... getting bored!
According to NBC New York, three advance NYPD vehicles "were moving down 49th Street near 10th Avenue when they slammed into the back of a livery cab."
Reports vary on whether Biden was in the motorcade at the time, with the New York Post claiming he was and NBC New York reporting that he was not.
Reached for comment, an NYPD detective said that three people were injured in the collision.
This is the third car accident involving Biden's motorcade or security detail in less than a week.
Thanks, KT, good to have time to chat, rather than just skim for a fwew minutes at a time!. I was suffering from a bit of a case of internet burnout also. Over it!

I almost wonder if it's because of heightened security. Terrorists attacks often create roadblocks by obstructing traffic even rolling baby carriages out in the street to get a car to slow down. I can't believe that the secret service is just crashing a lot all of a sudden out of incompetence.

A taxi is just that, A livery vehicle is a private limousine for hire
Oh Gosh..I just remembered last summer you had a friend that was adopted and contacted me..How is he doing? Did he find his birth parents? I lost contact with him..

Have never thought of that, KT, and not being much of a conspiracy theorist, probably would not have. But, I have never in my life heard of a MVA in the presidential or VP motorcades, now, 3 in a week... Hmmm, you may just be on to something.
The latest crash was far enough ahead of Biden's vehicle that police were able to push the cars out of the way to allow Biden to pass unimpeded on his way to an appearance on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

It was his wife looking for her parents,, They are still working on it, as Tom lost a brother and sister 2 weeks apart around the time you helped them out.
They are just getting back on track from running around helping both of those families out. I will let you know when she resumes the search if she finds anything out!
Actually, it's happened before - and sometimes they come in bunches. I can recall a police officer dying in a Bush motorcade in New Mexico. That followed a similar accident that resulted in a police officer dying on a rain slicked road in Hawaii.

that's still mystifying...a tree lined little one way road at the ABQ Sunport...he must have accelerated for some reason and lost it...I pass that spot all the time and can't figure it out...extreme bad luck I guess
The five apparently include three death sentences announced last month. None of the five have been identified by Iranian authorities.
Iran began the mass trial in August of more than 100 prominent opposition figures and activists, accusing them of a range of charges from rioting to spying and plotting what Iran's clerical rulers have depicted as a foreign-backed plot to oust them from power.
still think a gunboat tour of the coast would work wonders...
do we still have gunboats ala the New Jersey?
have they given it all up for missile frigates and carriers?
The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said U.S. President Barack Obama's envoy, George Mitchell, had asked an aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at a meeting in London on Monday, to block the proposed construction at the settlement of Gilo.
But a government planning commission approved the addition of 900 housing units at Gilo, where 40,000 Israelis already live.
The Israeli decision drew an unusually sharply worded rebuke from the White House, which said it was "dismayed" and accused Israel of undermining Obama's efforts to resume peace talks with Palestinians stalled since December.

President Ford's limo was smashed by a car in Hartford, Connecticut. The limo kept on rolling. The other driver (19) had some 'splaining to do!
first obligation is the safety of the crew, second obligation is run down the pirates and sink them...fail
Tour the Somali coast and obliterate every new mansion, every Mercedes, etc.
ALL of the wealth for such things comes from piracy, or so I've heard, along with huge baksheesh to the Islamofascists.
They're all a pack of traditional pirates, slavers and drug runners.
Hit 'em where they live.

I hate the feds...nine out of ten times they do exactly the wrong thing...the Somalians don't give a shit if three of their neighbors get greased by US snipers...you have to do it every time...life is cheap over there

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Settlement never were and never will be an impediment to peace; Palestinian refusal to accept Israel's existence and demands for a Jew-free Palestine are. Everything else is a smokescreen.
So too is Abbas' game of claiming that he wont run for PA chief, even though the PA is prepping to go and making him el Presidente for life as they're about ready to suspend elections scheduled for January.
BEIJING - President Barack Obama, with China's leader at his side, lifted his sights Tuesday for a broad accord at next month's climate conference that he said will lead to immediate action and "rally the world" toward a solution on global warming.
Obama and President Hu Jintao talked of a joint desire to tackle climate change, but failed to publicly address the root problems that could unravel a deal at the 192-nation conference in Copenhagen: how much each country can contribute to curb greenhouse gases and how the world will pay the billions of dollars needed to fight rising temperatures.

NEW YORK – A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld the conviction of a disbarred civil rights lawyer and ordered her to begin serving her sentence while a judge reconsiders whether he was too lenient in giving her more than two years in prison for passing information between suspected terrorists.
Lynne Stewart, 70, has been free on appeal since she was sentenced in 2006. The three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued its nearly 200-page ruling almost two years after hearing arguments in the case.
No, it certainly doesn't get old. Stewart should look forward to spending the rest of her life in prison; 28 months is going to be the low end of what should be a very long stay in Club Fed. She was looking at 30 years, and the appeals court said that the trial court was way too lenient in giving her what amounted to a slap on the wrist for not only helping a terrorist, but lying to the courts - as an officer of the court no less.

OK I thought for a minute my mind had gone down since I was stationed at an Ordnance Base between Tokyo and Yokohama from late 1945 to early September 1946.

Dr. Egon Spengler: I'm worried, Ray. All my readings point to something big on the horizon.
Winston Zeddemore: What do you mean, big?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

Fans in Sarah Palin's home state turned out as early as possible Tuesday to snap up copies of her highly anticipated memoir. [...]
Cheezem said he's hoping some of that regional connection spills over to people buying the book from his store — at the full $28.99 price. By Tuesday morning, 32 copies of his 100-book shipment had been pre-ordered and by late morning another 21 copies had been sold over the counter.
Don't they realize that there are many wingnut-o-sphere sites that are shipping out the book for just a few dollars to anyone who signs up?
Top Obama donor and fundraiser Jodie Evans met with the Taliban in Afghanistan on a recent trip there, according to a report by Jane Fonda of a discussion she had with Evans last month. The meeting with the Taliban took place just weeks before Evans was videotaped directly handing to President Barack Obama a package of information about her trip to Afghanistan at a high dollar fundraiser in San Francisco.
The meeting with the Taliban was kept secret by Evans and her group Code Pink in reports she and the group posted from Kabul and in interviews with the media and bloggers about the trip. Fonda, a close friend of Evans, let the secret meeting slip in an account of her dinner with Evans at a fundraiser for the Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles:
Last Saturday, My dear friends Jodie Evans and Max Palevsky, invited Richard and me to join them at their table at a fundraiser at the Armand Hammer Museum in Westwood. It was a good evening for lots of reasons. I had never been to the museum and definitely want to go back. Clearly it is a courageous place, very cutting edge. Then, too, I saw lots of friends I hadn’t seen in a long time and I sat next to Jodie who told me a little about her recent trip to Afghanistan with an American delegation that included a retired colonel, and member the State Department (Army Reserves Col. (Ret.) and ex-diplomat Ann Wright). While there, she met with people ranging from the brother of President Karzai, Afghan members of Parliament, activists, to warlords and members of the Taliban (emphasis added.) Jodie is co-founder of the peace organization, Code Pink, and always willing to go to any lengths to try and find out what’s really going on. Bottom line: everyone she met with wants the U.S. Military out of their country. They feel our presence there has brought more violence rather than security. Please read a short article she wrote about the trip which is on the Women’s Media Center website.

No shit shirlock!
We did not go in on a peacekeeping mission or some humanitarian aid quest. We went in to kick some Taliban ass! We went in looking for payback for the 3,000 dead Americans. We went in looking for those who conspired to harm us, who declared war on us and murdered our loved ones.

I bet they want us out.
Actually, It seems from the information Fonda spewed that Evans spoke with everyone but the PEOPLE of Afghanistan. War lords, politicians, activists and Taliban. Everyone but the folks who are horribly oppressed by everyone Evans spoke to. Nice Job, Ms. Evans!//

I wonder what would have happened to her 66 years ago if she had met with the Nazis. I'm sure Harry Truman wouldn't have put his arm around her.
A 90-year-old former member of an elite Waffen SS unit has been charged with killing 58 Hungarian Jews who were forced to kneel beside an open pit before being shot and tumbling into their mass grave.
The man, named in the German press as Adolf Storms, becomes the latest pensioner to be prosecuted for alleged Nazi war crimes as courts rush to secure convictions before the defendants become too infirm and the witness testimony too unreliable.
Mr Storms was found by accident last year, as part of a research project by Andreas Forster, a 28-year-old student at the University of Vienna.
The case against him was led by Ulrich Maass who is also the prosecutor in the trial of Heinrich Boere, 88, who is accused of shooting three Dutch resistance fighters.

No one should directly hand things to the President especially if they just got back from hanging out with the Taliban. Kind of creepy there.

I was thinking the same thing. What kind of fucking moron purposely seeks out the Taliban to speak with them? Why would a politician, especially the POTUS, greet them with open arms when they get back?

The China Syndrome became a huge hit when Three Mile Island had its little accident mere days after the movie opened.
If that sort of sequence of events were to occur nowadays that would make for a juicy conspiracy theory . I may just propose an ex-post facto CT right here.
The VFW I go to- though I did not serve during wartime- has a picture of her face on targets in all of the urinals.
It's well known that putting those little targets in urinals keeps the floors drier. They probably have to repaint her face quite often due to water erosion.
On the other hand, those old farts don't have the jets they once had.
oops- tellin' on myself

I just got finished watching the worst movie I have ever had the displeasure to see... "Repo! The Genetic Opera." Even the two teenage step-critters couldn't stand it, and this movie was certainly designed to target that age group.
Hanoi Jane: Once a traitorous America-hating bitch, always a traitorous America-hating bitch. She should be arrested alongside the peacesurrender advocates who met with Taliban and the whole lot of them tried for treason.

You should have watched WWII in HD instead. It's on all week. I think it's one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Although there are some graphic images it's very educational and filled with amazing color film.
Well, I'm out for a couple of weeks. Visiting a terminally ill mother-in-law overseas, before it's too late. I may look in here while I'm there, but otherwise have a good Thanksgiving, everyone.

That won't happen. They got face time with the president right after they got back. I think they are pretty safe. When are they leaving for Iran?

I always regarded her as just extra covered up with stupid, rather than having fully embraced a particularly treasonous stance. I mean, what she said and did (and does) might be real easy for even me to call treasonous, but I really think she's just plain old garden variety every- day too stupid to really know WTF she really does anything for... the hard to imagine how she gets through the day kind of stupid...

Interesting.. I step in and there's some people talking about WWII vets, and another talking about the Chinese owning the Capital.
Speaking of Chinese owning the Capital... I had a dream last night, a terrible dream...
the Government had somehow invited the Chinese military over for a parade, and there they were, marching down one of those famous long boulevards in Washington D.C. and they stretched back as far as the eye could see and there were American men running from the street back to their homes and back again to the parade route, only now armed with rifles.
A man next to me asked what I thought and I told him that the worst war our nation had ever seen in was about to start and he said "That is true" and then, the shooting started and Chinese fell in piles, but they just kept coming.
I woke up at 4am because of it...
OK, after looking at this further. Jodie Evans tells Jane Fonda that she met with the Taliban. CiC/POTUS, while also engaged in a war against the Taliban, hugs said Jodie Evans and gives her a hug. It's bad for morale and sends the wrong signal.

and yuck and really? what are these women thinking.
Go away ladies, you make the rest of us libs look bad.
and you piss me off.
I don't like the idea of un-uniformed enemy partisans captured on a battlefield being given a criminal trial like U. S. citizens, but throwing bricks at NYC cops isn't going to help things any.

Yeah, it's rather strange. Nothing new with Code Pink of course since they're always meeting with enemies of America from time to time. Then Fonda goes ahead and blogs that Evans met with the Taliban. I'm sure it's a badge of honor within their own circle of friends.
"Robert Erickson" punked an anti-immigration tea party rally when he got to the podium and spoke out against immigrants, european immigrants that is. The crowd continued cheering his speech right up until the "Columbus go home" chant was started up, then they seemed a bit confused.
Pretty frigging childish if you ask me, but it does make me wonder what some of these people wouldn't cheer for.

To put the X-Flex bombproof wallpaper to the test, we substituted a wrecking ball for an explosion. With no wallpaper, test walls crumbled on the first hit. With X-Flex on the backside, we literally could not bring the walls down. The material stretched to contain brick fragments trying to blast into the room and bounced right back. —Theodore Gray
That does raise an interesting point, though. Are the authorities going to be able to provide adequate security to protect the defendants?
Yes, yes they are.
We can do this.
This is America for heaven's sake, they have tried terrorists a number of times in federal court...and won.
aaarrrggghhh, this just frustrates me to no end. I have written so many posts about the NY trials and then not posted them because, dammit I like being here, and I'm a guest but I just do. not. get. this.
Why are some (not all) conservatives freaking out over this?
Polls show New Yorkers have no problem with the trials...well except for old, white Republicans.
What are we so afraid of?
Man up people.
(I'm sorry I really don't mean to piss you guys off, really.)
I'd sure like to believe that, but I get in a car and drive every day.
So do I and I've never been murdered, not even once. I check the headlines every morning for an "AmeriDan Survives the Night" headline but it's never there.
Only the bad stuff.
If your commute is that depressing, perhaps you could find another route?
Yes, yes they are.
We can do this.

aaarrrggghhh, this just frustrates me to no end.
Governor Paterson is against the trials being held in New York.

!?!?!?!?!?!
You don't happen to have a link do you?
New Yorkers are speaking out about the venue for the trial, but there is a split decision on the matter. 45% of residents think it’s a good idea to have the trial in New York City while 41% believe it’s a bad one.
41% of New Yorkers are Old White Republicans!@?!?!?
No one who drives, and sees road-rage insanity, can believe that "most people" have a nonviolent temperament.
I drive a lot, I don't see a lot of road rage. I see the occasional dude with an STI or an M3 tearing down 205 at breakneck speeds, because you know, 300+hp under the right foot. But not much rage.
I don't like it because not only is KSM going to make a mockery of the court, the CIA is going to be put on trial instead of the terrorists. Not to mention exposing intelligence used to capture terrorists will be exposed.
That does raise an interesting point, though. Are the authorities going to be able to provide adequate security to protect the defendants?
Sure. We've prosecuted Mafia, Russian spies, etc before with no problems. Somebody in jail might kill them but that's a risk that's probably very manageable.

Rumors of people getting banned for simply stating their opinion have been greatly exaggerated. I wouldn't sweat saying what you think.
So do I and I've never been murdered, not even once. I check the headlines every morning for an "AmeriDan Survives the Night" headline but it's never there.
Only the bad stuff.
If your commute is that depressing, perhaps you could find another route?
Might also just be a function of traffic patterns, city planning, the region, the population... LA traffic is different than Dallas traffic is different than Portland traffic, etc.

Agreed on that point, but trying these bastards in federal court is still a grave mistake. Better a military court that can protect classifed information and keep the media at arms length. The MSM cannot be trusted to cover a trial like this; They'll use the trial to attack their own country.
"I can envision a couple of different combinations, if ever I were to be in a position to really even seriously consider running for anything in the future, and I'm not there yet," Palin tells Newsmax. "But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He's a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way. And he's so bold – I have to respect that. He calls it like he sees it, and he's very, very, very effective."
I apologize, it has been a long day and I let my frustration get the best of me.
Sorry guys.

How thinking of terrorists as pirates can help win the war on terror.
there are immediate benefits to pointing out that terrorism has a precedent in piracy. In the short term, it is a tool to cut the Gordian knot of definition that has hampered antiterrorist legislation for 40 years. In the long term, and far more important, it provides the parameters by which to understand this current and intense conflict and the means within which it may one day be resolved. That resolution will begin with the recognition among nations that terrorism is a threat to all states and to all persons, the same recognition given to piracy in 1856. Terrorists, like pirates, must be given their proper status in law: hostis humani generis, enemies of the human race.
I'm old, white and -grrr - still a Republican, but I don't live in New York.
I still think the terrorists should be dealt with militarily and summarily.
They hit the Pentagon- that changes everything.

Who someone admires quite often can tell you a lot about them. I think I just learned more than I wanted to know.
The problem that makes adopting that thinking very hard is that many leftists think that people like you and me (i.e. moderate and conservative Americans) are the real enemies of the human race.
Thanks, KT. You are my link to the kookosphere most of the time. I just can't justify the number of showers I would have to take in a day to wash the stench off me if I were to hit those sites myself.
I agree but the Republicans wetting the bed and crying about how it might anger the terrorists is fucking pathetic.
Whats "fucking pathetic' is this blatant attempt to put torture, gitmo, Bush and Cheney on trial so this admin can show the 'world' how fair they are and how rotten the old admin was!
It's been a common talking point...
Rep. Shadegg Suggests Mayor Bloomberg's Daughter Will Be "Kidnapped" By A Terrorist
That's unhinged of course.
My main concern would be that intelligence information will be compromised because of the nature of civilian trials. Otherwise I'm sort of on the fence with this.

Exactly. This is a political move to make George Bush look bad at the expense of our security.

Wait until everything and everybody is in place and the defense team starts asking for change of venue because how can they get a fair panel seated
I agree with you on that. I do suspect that Obama thinks he can get this done and I hope it works. These guys have been in legal limbo for a very long time. If Obama can manage to wrap this up I'll be happy.
Yeah, Rudy also endorsed Hoffman and was praising the Tea Party nonsense over the past few days too. I'm not happy about that and things are starting to look a little different to me in hindsight.
Wait until everything and everybody is in place and the defense team starts asking for change of venue because how can they get a fair panel seated
Let the circus begin!
Yeah. A lot will also depend on the judge that is picked. If it's a weak judge then they will give "free rein" to the defense to bring in other aspects such as interrogations, treatment, "undue hardship," etc.
Wait until everything and everybody is in place and the defense team starts asking for change of venue
they will very likely do that. This criminal defense attorney is pretty critical of New York state discovery rules:
In criminal cases in New York, it is considered acceptable and legal to withhold from a defendant most of the most critical and relevant police reports, prior testimony, and other evidence until the very moment of trial (and sometimes literally in the middle of trial).[Link: www.queensdefense.com...]
A good night to you. I, for one, don't really hold anything against you.
Who is holding anything against webvintage? I'm not going to let the liberal lizards do to republicans what some liberal lizards whined endlessly about when done the left.

I heard they were going to import Judge Ito from California because of his vast experience in "Show Trials."

Sharmuta, I agree with the things you said, I was just telling webvintage "no hard feelings". I apologize if it seemed like I was subtly pointing at you in my statement.
And this post is dedicated to the ATF agent I met today. He came to replace the phone that was ruined after he was ambushed and shot during a drug bust. He still had one of the bullets in his leg and was arranging the operation to have it removed. And so this song is dedicated to one of the true heroes that I've had the honor of meeting. You've done great service for our nation and I do not forget it:
Calabresi served under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush from 1985-1990.[1] During that time, he advised Attorney General Edwin Meese III, Reagan Domestic Policy Chief T. Kenneth Cribb and wrote speeches for Bush Vice President Dan Quayle.

Except as Rule 16(a)(1) provides otherwise, this rule does not authorize the discovery or inspection of reports, memoranda, or other internal government documents made by an attorney for the government or other government agent in connection with investigating or prosecuting the case. Nor does this rule authorize the discovery or inspection of statements made by prospective government witnesses except as provided in 18 U.S.C. § 3500.
I think this is the dangerous piece (for intelligence contacts):
(G) Expert Witnesses.
At the defendant's request, the government must give to the defendant a written summary of any testimony that the government intends to use under Rules 702, 703, or 705 of the Federal Rules of Evidence during its case-in-chief at trial. If the government requests discovery under subdivision (b)(1)(C)(ii) and the defendant complies, the government must, at the defendant's request, give to the defendant a written summary of testimony that the government intends to use under Rules 702, 703, or 705 of the Federal Rules of Evidence as evidence at trial on the issue of the defendant's mental condition. The summary provided under this subparagraph must describe the witness's opinions, the bases and reasons for those opinions, and the witness's qualifications.
(a) In any criminal prosecution brought by the United States, no statement or report in the possession of the United States which was made by a Government witness or prospective Government witness (other than the defendant) shall be the subject of subpena, discovery, or inspection until said witness has testified on direct examination in the trial of the case.
(b) After a witness called by the United States has testified on direct examination, the court shall, on motion of the defendant, order the United States to produce any statement (as hereinafter defined) of the witness in the possession of the United States which relates to the subject matter as to which the witness has testified. If the entire contents of any such statement relate to the subject matter of the testimony of the witness, the court shall order it to be delivered directly to the defendant for his examination and use.
(d) If the United States elects not to comply with an order of the court under subsection (b) or (c) hereof to deliver to the defendant any such statement, or such portion thereof as the court may direct, the court shall strike from the record the testimony of the witness, and the trial shall proceed unless the court in its discretion shall determine that the interests of justice require that a mistrial be declared.
Sounds like the first task for the defense would be to get "witnesses" relevant to the case. Considering the intelligence implications it actually sounds easy for them to create a stalemate.

As if that'd stop it.
I think the trials will be OJ Simpson Part Trois, but with OJ's case, justice was eventually served.

Crickets talkin' back and forth in rhyme,

They're not summits. They're global short-term bursts of economic stimulation. Or something.
Or something. Sounds about right. Reminds me of when I once hooked up with someone I knew trying to create a "non profit." Sounded like a scam from the onset and she drove me nuts that I finally "quit."
I think world summits are the global version of city council meetings. Ironically city councils are more productive.
Stimulus! Don't remind me. 10 million dollars in Denver for 6.65 jobs. What a joke. With 10 million dollars I could have at least created 10 millionaires.

Hey it only cost $780,000 to create 29 jobs in Nevada district 15.
(too bad Nevada doesn't actually have a district 15)
Project Type: AdvanceNotice
Project Owner: North Carolina Department of Transportation
Location: North Carolina, United States, Davidson (NC), Rowan (NC)
Estimated Value: $280,000,000 to $330,000,000
The 6.8 mile proposed project is located along a section of Interstate 85 between Salisbury and Greensboro.
Any time you see the word "Trade" as in trade summit or trade talks what it really means is "We are going to party our asses off on your dime."
It's like the public sector version of the convention circuit. Only it's on the public dime and accomplishes little. People on both sides of the political spectrum even acknowledge that. The only ones that defend it are the professional politicians. Even if we look at the World Bank where it's nothing but defaults and delays. The result isn't even loans. They're grants to nowhere.
Well asphalt is made with oil, and oil is really expensive...

Coming back to Florida from Alaska was a real eye opener, up there they can only work about 5 months out of the year, yet they get three times as much done. I talked with someone in the business here and he admitted it was corrupt as all hell, kickbacks, overinflated rigged bids, the whole works. He said a few honest people had tried to break into the business over the years but that the existing contractors would band up to underbid them. Once the new guy was run out of business they would all go back to business as usual.

It's a joke and no one cares. Look at the 300 million for 7 miles of road. Money means nothing to them apparently. There's even one for 110 million to reclad a building facade. Must be a large building.
Or in Dallas/Fort Worth:
An additional $500 million in funding is available to the state's metropolitan planning organizations for use at their discretion.
Hmm, I wonder if that includes energy efficiency upgrades like thermopane windows and the like. Might explain the hugh pricetags better...
I didn't check but I doubt it. Most of the money will go to "management" and on an aside grafting because that's how it's done. The majority of the projects are on federal buildings anyway. The balance of the so called stimulus is going to roads and bridges. The firms that do get the contracts milk it for what it's worth. Again, because that's how it's done. If they need to dig a hole you need four people. One man to dig the hole and 3 to watch.
Vice President Joe Biden has asked officials tasked with overseeing the stimulus-tracking website Recovery.gov to correct statistics suggesting Recovery Act funds had been sent to nonexistent congressional districts, according to a spokesman.
Biden, whom President Obama asked to perform an oversight role as "sheriff" of the stimulus program, was briefed Tuesday on reports of flawed job-creation numbers.
"He thinks it is a relatively small problem involving a small number of jobs that exist, but which were entered into Recovery.gov with the wrong coding and therefore the wrong address," Biden spokesman Jay Carney said in an email. "He expects the problem will be fixed quickly."
...
Yeah, fixed quickly. There's nothing wrong with the stats. It's all flawed just like the stimulus program was flawed. Leave it alone. It reflects relaity.
In every language, the first word after "Mama!" that every kid learns to say is "Mine!" A system that doesn't allow ownership, that doesn't allow you to say "Mine!" when you grow up, has -- to put it mildly -- a fatal design flaw. From the time Mr. Developing Nation was forced to read "The Little Red Book" in exchange for a blob of rice, till the time he figured out that waiting in line for a loaf of pumpernickel was boring as f*ck, took about three generations. ... Decades of indoctrination, manipulation, censorship and KGB excursions haven't altered this fact: People want a piece of their own little Something-or-Other, and, if they don't get it, have a tendency to initiate counterrevolution.
