Speaking of sloths, I suppose I should go do some work, but here is yet another example of why H1N1 should be taken seriously:

H1N1 Claims Healthy Nebraska Man

A Lincoln County man in his 30s has died after falling ill with the H1N1 virus, according to state health officials.

The man had no underlying health conditions, officials said.

And for god's sake can we let the Army have planes so they don't need to rely on helicopters so much? They're the most dangerous vehicle to put a soldier in.

Finally, A Congressman With a Solution: Stop Complaining So Much

Sure, the economy sucks. Unemployment is at least 10.2% and, yes, if you include part-time workers who would rather have full-time jobs it may be over 17%. The government is showering our cash on Wall Street and burning through piles of our children and grandchildren’s money “saving” phantom jobs in Congressional Districts that don’t exist.

Oh yeah, and Congress is planning for a government take-over of our health care system, legislating higher energy prices and raising taxes. Sheesh, no wonder we’re feeling blue.
Well, not to worry, three-term Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) has found a solution: Stop Complaining So Much. Rep. Cleaver is currently circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter, seeking co-sponsors for House Concurrent Resolution 155, designating the day before Thanksgiving as the official “Complaint Free Wednesday.”

You see, as the Congressman explains:

From time to time, we all experience anxiety, frustration, stress, and regret. And often, we respond to these feelings with a criticism or a complaint. Regrettably, complaining keeps people stuck on current problems, inhibiting them from thinking constructively to find solutions. Research has also shown that complaining can be harmful to one’s emotional and physical health; relationships; and can limit professional career success.

Really. Full letter and more after the jump.

Someone should contact this guy's boss so he can tell him to get back to work. A House Resolution against complaining. Your government in action people.

re: #53 Bubblehead II

My paternal grandfather spent WWII in the Merchant Marine, as an engineer in a Liberty Ship. He did many, many trips back and forth to North Africa and later Europe, had his ship shot out from under him four times (subs, all 4) though he managed to save one nobody thought could be saved. He was injured three times (rivet, shrapnel-- he didn't like being above decks, and this proved him absolutely right in his own mind-- and rivet again.) and saw many fellow ships go right to the bottom.

The one thing he said you had to be crazy to do was go down in a submarine.

It's one reason, he said, they feared the subs so much-- they knew they were being hunted by crazy bastards.

More proof that Fox ran fake video of Palin's book-tour "crowds"

Earlier, Think Progress caught Fox News showing what was clearly footage of 2008 Sarah Palin campaign rallies but claiming that it was video of "huge crowds" attending Palin's book tour.

But in case the McCain-Palin campaign signs and tee-shirts clearly visible in the footage Fox aired aren't enough to make Fox apologize, here's further proof.

Here's a screenshot of the footage of one of the rallies that Fox's Gregg Jarrett showed today and claimed was "just coming into us" as part of the book tour.

Wasn't crazy, just the only way I could get the training in electronics that I wanted. Surface fleet training consisted of "black box" (find the bad module, then change it out and ship it off for repair) training instead of component level repair that I wanted.

re: #110 HoosierHoops

It's gotten worse.

Basic story:

During WWII, lots of blacks move to SF to work in the shipyard. Good jobs, good pay. They live in Hunters Point, right near the shipyards.

After WWII: The blacks get fired and their jobs given to whites (often at the insistence of segregated unions), the average income of the black families dive, and the place quickly becomes a ghetto.

And once a place becomes a ghetto, it's really, really hard to bring it back.

Maybe it like Palin's statement about Death Panels from Earlier today. She knows they aren't real but it excites her base. She was pretty open about her strategy. Maybe Fox is adopting the same sort of thing. If they can use fake footage to make things seem more exciting to their viewers. The Viewers don't seem to mind.

The subject of a topic of one thread popping up on other threads, especially open threads like this one where people are welcome to discuss anything, does not constitute evidence of obsession. The simple fact is that Palin's idiocy and dishonesty are news at the moment and people are talking about it.

But why waste your time with a contemptible liar?

re: #161 Guanxi88

Oh, I'm not gong to stop replying to you just because you're a liar. That's not very effective.

The teddybear you displayed did not celebrate the idea of the president dying.

It said: "Bush: Kills Arabs Dead"

The one that I'm talking about said:

Pray for Obama: Psalm 109:8

Which says:

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Psalm 109 continues:
Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

10Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.

11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.

12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.

13 Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. .

11 May a creditor seize all he has;
may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.

12 May no one extend kindness to him
or take pity on his fatherless children.

13 May his descendants be cut off,
their names blotted out from the next generation.

That you could compare the two as if they were in any way similar should be astonishing.

Consequently, I think it best to leave you to your fear of teddybears and of people like me.
