Glenn Beck Poised to Implement 100-Year Plan

Weird • Views: 3,048

It’s going to take him 100 years to get it all done, but Glenn Beck has a master plan. And to find out what it is, all you have to do is buy his new book.

I have begun meeting with some of the best minds in the country that believe in limited government, maximum freedom and the values of our Founders. I am developing a 100 year plan. I know that the bipartisan corruption in Washington that has brought us to this brink [sic] and it will not be defeated easily. It will require unconventional thinking and a radical plan to restore our nation to the maximum freedoms we were supposed to have been protecting, using only the battlefield of ideas.

- All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding.

Interesting. He likes the founding fathers but doesn't like what they founded and wants to refound the founding because the first one wasn't founded right.

Futurist Manifesto - 1909

The Futurist Manifesto, written by the Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, was published in French in Le Figaro on 20 February 1909. It launched an art movement, futurism, that rejected the past; celebrated speed, machinery, violence, youth and industry; and sought the modernisation and cultural rejuvenation of Italy. The Founding and Manifesto of Futurism allows a sharper comprehension of a cultural evolution in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century, meant as an intellectual avant-garde.

Beck's plan: Rally followers, sell books

It’s unclear, though, how Beck plans to pull off his new role.

The 9.12 Project has no discreet funding, but rather is a project of Mercury Radio Arts, Beck’s production company. The company – which manages Beck’s radio and television shows, as well as his book projects – publishes and maintains the 9.12 Project’s website, but Fox News hosts the site on its servers.

There could be campaign finance law implications for both Fox and Mercury if the 9.12 Project became involved in overtly political activities.

re: #90 Killgore Trout

This is interesting...

That is very interesting. It could explain his reticense to participate before this.

It's always tempting to dismiss people with whom you disagree as stupid, but this is because we all secretly hope that our opponents are stupid. Of course, they seldom are.

Take the whole Oath-Keepers thing. Now, if it were just a bunch of rural types with a toothless hayseed as their leader, no cause for concern.

But who's at their head but a very, very sharp, very well-educated guy . That makes the movement a concern.

It's easy to confuse crazy with stupid, but it's a really bad idea.

on the contrary, it takes a ton of brains, far more than I could muster, to put together and sell what he's selling. The goofier the product, the more difficult the sale.

One of the best things Ike did (and he did a lot of them) was to force the civilians from the areas around these death factories to walk through them. Force them to confront face-to-face the evil in which they had participated.

"But we didn't know," some of them said. A damned lie, as troops report being able to smell (sweet Lord!) these places before they got near them.

258 Cato the Elder  Sat, Nov 21, 2009 4:37:14pm

As a side note - though the idea of grand and futile planning does enter into it - the NYT today seems ignorant of the fact that hopes for (or fears of) a global climate agreement at København have been canceled. In an article about the c/nontroversy over those AGW emails, the Times questions their appearance shortly before "hundreds of negotiators prepare to negotiate an international climate accord in Copenhagen next month", causing some to speculate "that the timing was not coincidental".

I am happy to reassure the NYT that hacked emails, whether pertinent to global weather or not, cannot have an effect on the outcome of a meeting that is not intended to have an effect.

Is it even remotely possible for standardized testing to measure your students' progress, or the level of your teaching skills? Would performance-based pay make any sense for people who do what you do?

I think standardized testing does measure/asses a certain amount of knowledge and application of skills ... depends on the questions. Are they supply-type questions or multiple choice/matching/true-false? As far as the level of my teaching skill, I think that could be better assessed by direct observation of my classroom and my lessons. It has been my experience that some students are like the proverbial horse that is led to water but does not want to drink. Some kids do better when taught one-on-one or in a small setting, some do better in groups.
If you are asking about my thoughts of the 'teaching to the test' conundrum, well, I am not a big fan of that. This method of teaching seems to me to rob creative teachers of imparting knowledge or concepts that are useful. And I have seen that not a few school districts are very concerned with these standardized because without high scores, the districts are down-dinged [as it were] and lose state and federal monies.

Not sure if that answered your question.

I would say that the way to identify the "best" teachers is check their own educational background, as well as there record in the private sector, if they go into teaching at a later date. I would also think that onservation by parents, peers, and perhaps other professional organizations might be useful. I have had to work alongside some mediocrities as well as some superb educators. Political correctness invades the NBA

Two Clippers commentators were suspended one game for this exchange:

Smith: "Look who's in."

Lawler: "Hamed Haddadi. Where's he from?"

Smith: "He's the first Iranian to play in the NBA." (Smith pronounced Iranian as "Eye-ranian," a pronunciation that offended the viewer who complained.)

Lawler: "There aren't any Iranian players in the NBA," repeating Smith's mispronunciation.

Smith: "He's the only one."

Lawler: "He's from Iran?"

Smith: "I guess so."

Lawler: "That Iran?"

Smith: "Yes."

Lawler: "The real Iran?"

Smith: "Yes."

Lawler: "Wow. Haddadi that's H-A-D-D-A-D-I."

Smith: "You're sure it's not Borat's older brother?"

Smith: "If they ever make a movie about Haddadi, I'm going to get Sacha Baron Cohen to play the part."

Lawler: "Here's Haddadi. Nice little back-door pass. I guess those Iranians can pass the ball."

Smith: "Especially the post players.

Lawler: "I don't know about their guards."

re: #268 Egregious Philbin

I just know that Beck is laughing his ass off at the people that believe in him. He is seeing how far he can push his con.

Its radio, its all fake, radio is fake, talk show hosts are fake.

Soylent green is people.

His motivations may be dishonest, but calling him "fake" is just ignoring the fact that many people feed off of his statements, take them as fact, and him as a prophet. And when it comes down to it how are we supposed to know the difference between someone who is talking a game to stick money in his pocket vs. someone who believes he is doing the right thing by stirring controversy whenever possible.

Should I applaud the convention-circuit speaker that gets paid to speak at supremacist gatherings and can catch the attention of the young and old with hateful speech, yet laughs when he gets back to his hotel room, counts his money and mocks the stupidity of each and every listener?

He is simply doing wrong -- even if trolling is not illegal, even if it leads to people getting smarter (over years) because they realize (over time) that hucksters are everywhere and will pick your pocket in any form possible -- I find it despicable.

But then I realize, Beck and his type have always existed and always will. People will know the latest tricks, and the talk from past hucksters, and learn to avoid them: snake oil, healing crystals, magnets, the new millennium destruction -- and then comes Intelligent design, 2012, Beck, Ann Coulter, Homeopathy ... they won't always recognize the patterns of deceit, and they will be with us forever.

Teach your kids to understand cognitive dissonance, and more importantly re-evaluate their premises so it is obvious they are being targeted by these leaches.

361 Sacred Plants  Sun, Nov 22, 2009 3:12:35am

In the beginning there was the Plan.
And then came the Assumptions.
And the Plan was without Substance.
And darkness was upon the face of the Workers.
And they spoke amongst themselves, saying,
"This is a crock of shit and it stinketh!"

And the Workers went unto their Supervisors and said, "It is a pail of dung, and none may abide the odor thereof!"

And the Supervisors went unto their Managers, saying, "It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none may abide it!"

And the Managers went unto their Directors, saying, "It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength!"

And the Directors spoke amongst themselves, saying to one another, "It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong."

And the Directors went unto the Vice Presidents, saying unto them, "It promotes growth, and it is very powerful!"

And the Vice Presidents went unto the President, saying unto him, "This new Plan will actively promote the growth and vigor in the company, with powerful effect!"

And the President looked upon the Plan, and saw that it was good...

And the Plan became Policy.

And that is how shit happens.

Forgive me that I only post this once and not a 100 times.

Not only is Beck losing the race, but I think he's taken a wrong turning.

I believe this book has already been written by Daniel Hannan (one of our British MEPs who weighed in on your guys' healthcare debate) and Douglas Carswell MP. It sets out a 12 month plan to fix a broken Britain.

This is not presented in the Glenn Beck 'Obama is an evil genius who wants to control the entire world in the style of a neo-Jewish conspiracy while he remains behind a desk stroking his white cat' sort of way, but a way that takes a candid realpolitik look at the suppression of liberty and the growth of government, and examines how this state of affairs can be reversed peacefully and democratically. It's fascinating - I really recommend it
