One of the highlights of Thanksgiving is the day of shopping frenzy that has come to be known as “Black Friday” for some reason, when retailers across the country offer great bargains. If you don’t feel like braving the crowds of deranged shopaholics at your local mall, an excellent alternative is to shop online at Amazon.

And this year Amazon has some amazing discounts on popular items (prices on some items are reduced up to 80%!): Amazon Black Friday Deals.www.assoc-amazon.com...] width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />www.assoc-amazon.com…] width=”1” height=”1” border=”0” alt=”” style=”border:none !important; margin:0px !important;” />

(Note: if you follow our link to Amazon’s Black Friday page, we get a small cut of the price of anything you buy, through Amazon’s Associates program. So you get awesome deals and help support LGF at the same time — a win for all.)

I think it's called 'Black Friday' because the retailers hope to be in the black when the frenzy settles.

Headed to Wilmington, DE shortly (brother's hosting) uummm :)

We thank you for our gracious host
For one more year, for one more toast
We thank you for the ones we love
In times of peace - the gentle dove

We thank you for the tough Marine
The guys and gals in army green
For Gold Star Moms, we pray relief
From endless tears and untold grief

We thank you Lord, you give so much
The strong rebuke - the gentle touch
Please save us from our selfish ways
And guide us through our dying days

Hmm- the gift I was looking to pick up from Amazon isn't on special, but there wasn't much hope it would be. I'll still buy it through the LGF store though.

OT, but DailyKos is reporting that Sarah Palin's bus tour actually involves her flying around in a jet linked to Bill Graham and his son. Not sure how reliable this is given the source, but it could be interesting.

The African immigrant family downstairs is making something that smells a LOT better than the traditional Thanksgiving meal. I am considering sending my regrets to my hosts, and inviting myself in.

Just a quick note to say that buy.com is owned by Amazon and they have good deals too.

You are right. It's the day that retailers go from being in the red to being in the black. I always found the idea that they made all their profits during a little over a month for the entire year inplausible however.

OK, I just did my part for capitalism and LGF and purchased $70.00 of assorted Black Friday items on Amazon. Happy Thanksgiving, Lizards! I hope you all have a heating pad under your cages and a heat lamp or two, it's gonna get cold soon!
Happy Thanksgiving, Charles, and thanks for your hospitality!

Did my part yesterday. Killed several Christmas presents, and Amazon has already shipped them! Yeah! Happy to support LGF!

I know that you're getting paid to shill for Amazon, bit it should be pointed out that some of the "black friday specials" at Amazon are actually more expensive than last week.
