As a Christian who also believes that the scientific method has given us modern life, including medicine and everything technological, this was very gratifying. Here's the first link. Oh noes! A rational conservative has been sited! Sound the alarm!
Why the GOP Will Thank Ted Olson
Ted Olson and David Boies have joined forces to appeal the constitutionality of California’s ban on gay marriage. The two men, who faced off in Bush vs. Gore, are quite possibly the best two constitutional lawyers in the United States, and together they represent a formidable legal force to be reckoned with. If they were to succeed in showing the California ban to be what it is, an unconstitutional law that is, in Olson’s words, “utterly without justification” and that brands gays and lesbians as “second-class and unworthy” in the eyes of the law, Republicans will owe the two a debt of gratitude for saving the party from twenty years of supporting a position that 20 years from now men and women will view as utterly abominable. Not only will they save us from the eyes of history, they will save us from the electoral losses that the public’s general condemnation of the position will turn into at some point.
If you care about electoral victories, cheer for Ted Olson. You will thank him later if he wins.

I require 6 pizzas.
The first shall require pepperoni.
The second shall require ham and pineapple.
The third shall require sausage and pepperoni.
The fourth shall require an alfredo sauce and chicken.
The fifth shall have no sauce but pesto.
The final pizza shall require Smurfberries with an additional basket of Smurfberries on the side, that we may power the school for a whole year.

Very good to hear, and I mostly agree - except for this part:
Republicans will owe the two a debt of gratitude for saving the party from twenty years of supporting a position that 20 years from now men and women will view as utterly abominable.
That last bit - people finding such a position utterly abominable - has already arrived in no small measure, and the day when that position will be widespread is probably no more than a handful of years away. 20 years is an overly pessimistic estimate, I think.

Ah, ok then...was asking about oven types due to the desirability that higher oven temperatures give to baking thin-crust pizza. As a NY-style pizza aficionado, a minimum of 600 degrees F (usually in a brick-lined oven to provide black spots on the bottom) are needed to get the crust just right. A good-thin good pizza can certainly be made in a regular oven (at the highest temp), but the residual ashy texture at the bottom of the crust is lost. (Ok, I'm a purist!) The traditional coal ovens provide even higher temperatures (about 700-800 F), which makes for an even thinner crust with the cheese and sauce congealing together rather than layering atop the crust. John's, Patsy's (in East Harlem), Lombardi's, and Grimallidi's are all stellar examples of this nearly lost culinary art.
Of course, if Chicago-style pizza is your preferred variety to bake; those long cooking times mandate a lower oven setting. Either way, I'd love to try a slice!

Hard and fast you are, with your demands. Too hard, for my people's tastes.
My counter offer, and hold those beers in reserve lest you incur the wrath of my protectorate...
Pepperoni is a given, and it shows the good taste of your people, and all good and decent people, to desire such.
Ham and Pineapple. This is an aberration within my governance, but not strictly heretical. You shall be granted this, as best as can be expected.
Sausage and Pepperoni. I see that our people have much in common on this, and it is granted without reserve.
A pizza with pesto sauce, rather than tomato sauce, is an acceptable derivation from the norm, and on certain holidays dear to my people it is more than appreciable. This too, will be granted.
Here, my hard-minded diplomatic opponent, is where you go too far.
The fourth shall require an alfredo sauce and chicken.
This is an anathema to my people. To speak such heresy within my kingdom would bring a punishment worse than death. White-sauce has not any claim, nor any right, to be placed on pizza, and to suggest such in my realm would be the worst blasphemy. I fear that if you do not recant on this matter, there will be naught but war between our people.
As far as "Smurfberries" are concerned, and their ability to power these constructs you call "Schools", we find such claims to be laughable. As sure as the Sun doth rise, I expect you next to claim that your skin is of an azure tint, and that your people house themselves in mushrooms.
Foolishness!
I expect another counter offer more favorable to my people on the morrow, or we shall take arms against you pizza heretics and forcefully relieve you of your beer.

I dare say, failure to understand the power of the Smurfberry should not, in and of itself, disqualify the request for such a pizza. My people are now fearful we are negotiating with anti-Smurfites. Well, it looks like Sarah is trying to back-peddle as fast as she can:
Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.
Way to duck and cover...
However, some of her followers are still true believers:

You go Sarah!!! Way to stand of for Americans! The liberals are voicing their freedom of speech to the point of harrassment toward you and your family, and meanwhile the liberal media wouldn't even pressure Obama to show his birth certificate! I'm very happy with getting Wagner and Saito for 10 mil total. We need a bat though, in the worst way.

Exactly. Pitching wins championships, but shit, you need runs.
If the Braves had ANY offense this past year, we would have been in the playoffs. Starting pitching was healthy as hell and pitching great. No way they can expect the whole staff to be so healthy and lucky in 2010.

Hot-lanta poaching our free-agent pitchers in the offseason? Dammit- it's supposed to be the other way around!
First Wagner and now Saito.
Wagner was never going to stay anyhow, hopefully the Sox offered arbitration so they could get the compensatory picks. Saito will be missed, but the Sox need to address the DH and catching situation. Time for Tek and Big Papi to call it a career.

Yes...terrorists took over a theater and hostages in 2002. Some Aeroflot flgihts were bombed mid-air a few years back and there was an unsccesful attempt to derail a passenger train between Moscow & St. Petersburg with a bomb last year or 2 years ago.
Was that the Beslan school?

The theater seige was during the showing of a Musical called 'Nord-Ost', said to be Russia's first Broadway-style musical. The terrorists made it a point to storm the stage when the actors were dressed in WWII Red Army uniforms.
The FSB or Septnatz wound up distracting the terrorists long enough to pump gas into the theater and carry everyone out unconscious, but many of the hostages died of complications. Some of the still unconcious terrorists were rigged with suicide devices and I think the decision was made to shoot them right then and there rather than try and disarm them.

FTFY. And a fine decision it was, too, meant to send a strong message to anyone thinking of trying something similar: you won't get out alive.

It's always been my feeling that they could have hauled the perps out just like they did the hostages, but shot them in place while they were anesthetized simply to put a quick end to the matter. No point in wasting rubles on what was certain to become a show trial, after all.

Does anyone have a link to a transcript to Obama's opening remarks at the "job summit" on Thursday morning.
I heard audio of some of his remarks, and it was really upsetting some of what I heard, and it's really interesting, I can't find any transcripts... what's going on, normally prepared remarks are released ahead of time to enable news outlets to get their stories ready...
Strange... the particular quote I am looking for is something of this nature... Obama was talking about how small businesses have been learning to continue producing and doing it with less employees... and he said something in the effect of we can't let this become part of the corporate culture.
Anyone have some info on these remarks?

Yes... and this is the comment that I think is bothersome...
"But despite the progress we've made, many businesses are still skittish about hiring. Some are still digging themselves out of the losses they incurred over the past year. Many have figured out how to squeeze more productivity out of fewer workers, and that cost-cutting has become embedded in their operations and in their culture. That may result in good profits, but it's not translating into hiring. And so that's the question that we have to ask ourselves today: How do we get businesses to start hiring again? How do we get ourselves to the point where more people are working, and more people are spending, and you start seeing a virtuous cycle and the recovery starts to feed on itself?"

Christian Heinze of the republican blog GOP12 summarizes Sarah Palin's facebook progress:
Sarah Palin's Facebook posts, revisited.First, she made a splash with her "death panel" post, which was short, passionate, and alarmist.
After getting some flak (and receiving some praise) for the comment, she moved into wonkish territory, as if to prove she hadn't been indiscriminate in making the death panel claim. That was the footnote phase (e.g. here).
At that point, detractors claimed it couldn't really be her writing, and whether or not they were right, it didn't sound like the real Sarah Palin.
In the past few weeks, she's returned to phase 1, largely abandoning the footnotes and moving to the let 'er rip style she promised over twitter just before resigning from her job.
Once again, today's missive sounds indisputably Palin (can you call a Facebook post a missive? If not, that's a casualty).

I heard a snippet yesterday about how BHO wants capital that is not at work to be put to work building infrastructure. Sounds to me as if BHO wants to tax the shit out of savings.
England, however, as it has never been blessed with a very parsimonious government, so parsimony has at no time been the characteristical virtue of its inhabitants. It is the highest impertinence and presumption, therefore, in kings and ministers, to pretend to watch over the economy of private people, and to restrain their expense, either by sumptuary laws, or by prohibiting the importation of foreign luxuries. They are themselves always, and without any exception, the greatest spendthrifts in the society. Let them look well after their own expense, and they may safely trust private people with theirs. If their own extravagance does not ruin the state, that of their subjects never will.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area.
Three major stories to watch today.
First - a major terror attack in Pakistan. Terrorists gunned down dozens at a mosque in Pakistan and then blew themselves up. It's likely that many of those killed were members of the Pakistani military.
The Associated Press put the death toll at 36, while Reuters said 40 had been killed in the incident. There was no explanation for the discrepancy in numbers, although the exact number of dead is often difficult to determine in the immediate aftermath of such an attack.Seventy were wounded in the attack and the identities of the dead were not known, the AP reported.
The mosque is frequented by military officials in the town of Rawalpindi, home to Pakistan's military establishment and only a 30-minute drive from the capital Islamabad.
Meanwhile, a former Gitmo detainee is now a bigwig in al Qaeda in Arabia espousing his jihadi ideologies for all who care to listen.
And on the domestic front, Colorado is set to approve the first uranium mill since the Cold War, with opposition coming from noted expert Daryl Hannah and others who think that nuclear power is bad (but what about global warming!).

Also on the GWoT front, US Sec. Defense Gates believes that al Qaeda is busy providing LeT with targeting information so as to provoke an India-Pakistan war.
"Al-Qaida sees using the Taliban in Pakistan and groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba as ways to destabilise Pakistan and even try to provoke a conflict between India and Pakistan that would inevitably destabilise Pakistan," Gates said.Testifying before the House Armed Services Committee, Gates said the US has evidence which suggest that the al-Qaida aims at destabilising Pakistan.
"We have evidence that al-Qaeda is helping them pick targets, do operational planning, helping them in their effort to try to destabilise the Pakistani government," Gates told lawmakers in response to a question.
"The other piece of this that does not include the Taliban or that -- apart from the Taliban is, we also know that al-Qaida is helping the Lashkar-e-Taiba, the terrorist group that carried out the bombings in Mumbai," he said.

Sounds like a good deal. Have never used a pizza stone, do you consider it worthwhile getting? (Assuming I get a homemade pizza-making urge again for the first time in years, of course!)
Go by a floor and tile shop and get a 16" square piece of floor tile. It makes a great pizza stone and won't cost you $45. Eventually, they crack, but then you just go pay another $3.99 for one and call it a day.
Love making pizza, and playing around with the crust (I use a mix of whole wheat flour, rye flour, oat flour, etc. depending on what kind of pizza I want to make). A favorite of ours is egg & bacon with a bechamel sauce. Quite simple, and very tasty.

War? Jihad? Crime? Terrorism?
They're just words. ///
Seriously though, the Taliban would call it justifiable acts of war in their jihad against the Pakistani military. The Pakistani govt would call it terrorism.
Here in the US? It would be a crime or terrorism depending on your political leanings...

So- Sarah can be a nirther because of Andrew Sullivan?
Sarah Palin has taken to her Facebook page to respond to her suggestion that it was legitimate for voters to question whether President Obama was born in the United States. Here's Palin's response:
Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I've pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask... which they have repeatedly. But at no point - not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews - have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

You can get a pizza stone for as little as $16 (which is the one I use). They aren't all that expensive at all, and aren't likely to break due to thermal shock.
Hm...thanks...Amazon has great deals on some things... I got my leather belt-case for my phone for $1 there, and paid .01 (1 cent) for the screen protectors for my googly phone...yeah, there was about $7 in shipping, but I still saved over 20 bucks on the cost of the belt-case.
I'll have to think about that pizza stone next time I'm in need.

Building Peace Without Obama's Interference
A promising, independent Palestine is quietly being developed, with Israeli assistance.
It is difficult to turn on a TV or radio or pick up a newspaper these days, without finding some pundit or other deploring the dismal prospects for Israeli-Palestinian peace or the dreadful living conditions of the Palestinians. Even supposedly neutral news reporters regularly repeat this sad tale. "Very little is changing for the Palestinian people on the ground," I heard BBC World Service Cairo correspondent Christian Fraser tell listeners three times in a 45 minute period the other evening.
In fact nothing could be further from the truth. I had spent that day in the West Bank's largest city, Nablus. The city is bursting with energy, life and signs of prosperity, in a way I have not previously seen in many years of covering the region.
As I sat in the plush office of Ahmad Aweidah, the suave British-educated banker who heads the Palestinian Securities Exchange, he told me that the Nablus stock market was the second best-performing in the world so far in 2009, after Shanghai. (Aweidah's office looks directly across from the palatial residence of Palestinian billionaire Munib al-Masri, the wealthiest man in the West Bank.)
Later I met Bashir al-Shakah, director of Nablus's gleaming new cinema, where four of the latest Hollywood hits were playing that day. Most movies were sold out, he noted, proudly adding that the venue had already hosted a film festival since it opened in June.
Wandering around downtown Nablus the shops and restaurants I saw were full. There were plenty of expensive cars on the streets. Indeed I counted considerably more BMWs and Mercedes than I've seen, for example, in downtown Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
And perhaps most importantly of all, we had driven from Jerusalem to Nablus without going through any Israeli checkpoints. The government of Benjamin Netanyahu has removed them all since the Israeli security services (with the encouragement and support of President George W. Bush) were allowed, over recent years, to crush the intifada, restore security to the West Bank and set up the conditions for the economic boom that is now occurring. (There was one border post on the return leg of the journey, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, but the young female guard just waved me and the two Palestinians I was traveling with, through.)
The shops and restaurants were also full when I visited Hebron recently, and I was surprised to see villas comparable in size to those on the Cote d'Azur or Bel Air had sprung up on the hills around the city. Life is even better in Ramallah, where it is difficult to get a table in a good restaurant. New apartment buildings, banks, brokerage firms, luxury car dealerships and health clubs are to be seen. In Qalqilya, another West Bank city that was previously a hotbed of terrorists and bomb-makers, the first ever strawberry crop is being harvested in time to cash in on the lucrative Christmas markets in Europe. Local Palestinian farmers have been trained by Israeli agriculture experts and Israel supplied them with irrigation equipment and pesticides.
A new Palestinian city, Ruwabi, is to be built soon north of Ramallah. Last month, the Jewish National Fund, an Israeli charity, helped plant 3,000 tree seedlings for a forested area the Palestinian planners say they would like to develop on the edge of the new city. Israeli experts are also helping the Palestinians plan public parks and other civic amenities.

367 | Ben Hur Fri, Dec 4, 2009 7:51:34am |
Outsiders are beginning to take note of the turnaround too. The official PLO Wafa news agency reported last week that the 3rd quarter of 2009 witnessed near-record tourism in the Palestinian Authority, with 135,939 overnight hotel stays in 89 hotels that are now open. Almost half the guests come from the U.S or Europe.Palestinian economic growth so far this year—in a year dominated by economic crisis elsewhere—has been an impressive 7% according to the IMF, though Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayad, himself a former World Bank and IMF employee, says it is in fact 11%, partly helped along by strong economic performances in neighboring Israel.
In Gaza too, the shops and markets are crammed with food and goods. But while photos from last Friday's Palestine Today newspaper, for example, depict sumptuous Eid celebrations, these are not the pictures you are ever likely to see on the BBC or Le Monde or the New York Times. No, Gaza is not like a "concentration camp," nor is the "humanitarian crisis in Gaza is on the scale of Darfur," as British journalist Lauren Booth (who is also Tony Blair's sister-in-law) has said.
In June, the Washington Post's Jackson Diehl related how Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had told him why he had turned down Ehud Olmert's offer last year to create a Palestinian state on 97% of the West Bank (with 3% of pre-1967 Israeli land being added to make up the shortfall). "In the West Bank we have a good reality," Abbas told Diehl. "The people are living a normal life," he added in a rare moment of candor to a Western journalist.
Nablus stock exchange head Ahmad Aweidah went further in explaining to me why there is no rush to declare statehood, saying ordinary Palestinians need the IDF to help protect them from Hamas, as their own security forces aren't ready to do so by themselves yet.
The truth is that an independent Palestine is now quietly being built, with Israeli assistance. So long as the Obama administration and European politicians don't clumsily meddle as they have in the past and make unrealistic demands for the process to be completed more quickly than it can be, I am confident the outcome will be a positive one. (The last time an American president—Bill Clinton in 2000—tried to hurry things along unrealistically, it merely resulted in blowing up in everybody's faces—literally—and set back hopes for peace by some years.)
Israelis and Palestinians may never agree on borders that will satisfy everyone. But that doesn't mean they won't live in peace. Not all Germans and French agree who should control Alsace Lorraine. Poles and Russians, Slovenes and Croats, Britons and Irish, and peoples all over the world, have border disputes. But that doesn't keep them from coexisting with one another. Nor—so long as partisan journalists and human rights groups don't mislead Western politicians into making bad decisions—will it prevent Israelis and Palestinians from doing so.
The horror.

While the GOP is steadfastly and generally opposed to gay marriage, there were more than enough Democrats siding with the opposition to kill the gay marriage bill in NY. After all, we're not talking rabid right wing in NY. It's one of the most liberal states, and among those who opposed it were some liberal Democrats from NYC, including Carl Kreuger and Ruben Diaz Sr. Diaz objected on religious grounds, which crosses political affiliations as religious groups generally oppose gay marriage.

The founder of Vdare is Malkin's "good friend" according to her. His brother hangs out at racist conferences:
John Brimelow (twin brother of Peter Brimelow, author of the influential anti-immigration tract Alien Nation) who runs the popular VDARE.com website attended and was observed cloistered in the atrium consorting with Black and his cohorts. A controversial figure for some within the American Renaissance milieu, David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (who was succeeded by Black), was there as were the far-right radio talk show host Hal Turner, Mark Weber, director of the California-based Holocaust denial outfit the Institute for Historical Review (IHR), Kevin Strom of National Vanguard and David Pringle, both former members of the neo-Nazi National Alliance. There was also a large contingent of Canadians led by Paul Fromm of the Canada First Immigration Reform Committee. Fromm is a friend of the Holocaust deniers Lady Michelle Renouf and Ernst Zündel who, much to Fromm’s annoyance, is currently on trial in Germany.
Nice friends, Malkin!

The point being that they are claiming only 11,000 jobs were lost in November, which would be the best it's been in two years. Of course the "early numbers" always get "corrected later, so two weeks from now they'll say "whoops it was really 50,000 jobs lost" or something.

The media is spinning the unemployment report as good news even though we're still losing jobs. It's just that we're not losing jobs nearly as fast as the past few months. I expect the figures to be revised upwards, and jobs will be lost once the holiday season and seasonal workers leave the marketplace in January.
We're still in a bad way, and nothing the feds have done has actually created jobs, let alone saved them in the kinds of numbers needed to get the economy going again. A cost benefit analysis would tell you that when you're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to create a single job, you're doing it wrong.

I just read through that paranoid rant of hers. The in the line of duty deaths are terrible and there may be a rise in ambush attacks the overall numbers since 1999 do not match her conspiracy theory in which she attempts to lay blame on the president for the number of police deaths this year. Here is the total number I gather from Officer Down:
1999 - 44
2000 - 50
2001 - 65
2002 - 57
2003 - 47
2004 - 55
2005 - 53
2006 - 51
2007 - 65
2008 - 39
2009 - 42
As you can see the peak years for these deaths were 2001 and 2007. The method of death for these statistics was gunfire only. As it stands now the total looks to be within range and in the lower average.

It varies but here's some numbers comparing Canada with Middle East Imports:
Crude Oil Imports - Thousand Barrels per Day
Canada - 1,928
Saudi Arabia - 1,525
Iraq - 661
Kuwait - 195
Total - 2,381
This puts the Middle East ahead of Canada at 453 Thousand Barrels per Day. While Canada and Mexico lead in per nation exports the aggregate total of "Middle East" exports still leads.

Jobs reports for November and December typically include the seasonal jobs for retailers. Many of those jobs are shed come January and February. We'll see what happens in the next few months.
The November jobs figure shows that major layoffs didn't occur in the numbers seen in the prior periods. That's a good sign, although it means some companies simply didn't have the jobs to cut.

Ahmed Subhi al-Fahal's death in a suicide bombing in Tikrit could embolden al-Qaida loyalists to try to make a return to the area around Saddam Hussein's hometown where he held sway. On Friday, within hours of his killing, dozens of Web sites affiliated with al-Qaida in Iraq were already celebrating the death of their longtime nemesis. The attack also stood as a reminder that Iraqi security officials who work closely with American forces remain a prime target for insurgents even as overall violence in Iraq fades.
Thursday's bombing, outside a goldsmith's store, also killed two of al-Fahal's bodyguards and two bystanders in Tikrit - which holds symbolic significance for the Sunni-led insurgents because of its connection with Saddam.

It's a misconception -- that the U.S. is beholden to Middle Eastern oil -- and it's repeated ad nauseum. Yet, look at the figures. Who is really dependent on Middle Eastern oil is Europe -- not the United States.
Here's an article..."It's a common misconception: The United States imports most of its foreign oil from the Middle East. Not quite. Not even close. As the table below indicates, dependence on oil from the Persian Gulf represents barely 10 percent of total domestic oil consumption, and most of that oil comes from Saudi Arabia and Iraq."

More than anything else about the Palinpalooza, that detail makes me mad as hell. There was a concerted effort to spread the idea that liberals hated Palin because she dared give birth to a disabled child.
This was based on nothing but a deep desire for it to be so. I was more than a bit hacked to learn that being pro-choice apparently now meant that I wanted to make Palin's choices for her, and that I despised her and her baby because she'd made the 'wrong' choice. (I actually do despise Palin, but Trig seems like a perfectly nice child.)

Monroe County man seeks indictments on President Obama for treason (With video)
After his appearance he informed supporters they would only deal with the issue of the assistant attorney general and grand jury foreman's attempts to keep him from presenting his case.
But he maintains President Obama has no legitimate birth certificate.
"Mr. Obama is an infiltrator. Mr. Obama is my sworn enemy. Mr. Obama is not the legitimate commander in chief," says Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick hopes to get indictments against the president and his supporters agree.
"Well, I'd love to see it go to the federal level and I personally would love to see him escorted out of the White House in handcuffs," says Anthony Shreeve.
John Coker says, "Our government has absolutely taken over this country. We the people don't matter anymore."
While the grand jury will not deal with Fitzpatrick's case today, he plans to continue the fight.
"I am sworn to do an obedience to the constitution and do everything I can do to remove him from office, by force of war. And if not, then by force," says Fitzpatrick.

Tough draw. I was living in England when the US made the quarter-finals in the World Cup just a day after the English team did. After all the partying at the pubs that went on after the English made it, I went to my local to have a pint and celebrate the US victory (I'd put 2 pounds on them to win the cup at 1,000 to 1 at the local bookkeepers, had I bet on them to make the quarter finals, it would have paid 250-1...lesson learned...don't just bet on the whole enchilada). Anyway, the locals were congratulating me on my team making the Quarter Finals, and I said, "What? Like that's hard?" That got me a few snarky "You bastard" replies...and a free pint or two.

It's at least as much fun to watch as Novel Writing. I'll never forget the gripping Thomas Hardy "Return of the Native" match.
Or Olympic Hide and Seek.

Ouch, yeah, I have a buddy from Switzerland. I'll have to find out what he thinks about that draw.

Group G strikes me as the toughest. One of
- Brazil, possibly best team in the world
- Portugal, one of best teams in Europe
- Ivory Coast, probably best team in Africa
won't qualify for the quarters. Rough.

Yeah, Group G's gonna be a bugger to get out of too. It'd be fun to see Ivory Coast steal a spot from Brazil or Portugal.

Heck Not me...I'd love to chat with Biden..Share a beer and solve the world's problems...But you know me..I'll talk to anyone...
/Show me what's on your iPod song list Joe...What? No System of the Down?
It's probably mainly Night Ranger and Foreigner.

Brazil-Portugal
Brazil-Ivory Coast
Portugal-Ivory Coast
Over/under on number of goals scored for these three matches combined? I'd take the over on 10.

Obama timed message to block Christian message of Charlie Brown Christmas p
"In the opinion of Arlington Mayor Russell Wiseman, President Barack Obama's speech on Tuesday night on the war in Afghanistan was deliberately timed to block the Christian message of the "Peanuts" television Christmas special."
I would've preferred Charlie Brown Christmas too but god damn it... so retarded.

That song always makes me think of Boogie Nights. The scene where that song is played is one of the most tense I can think of in any movie I've seen.

He wanted to replace if with It's Eid-Al-Adha, Ali Brown! but had to settle for giving a speech instead.

I'm very happy about the US's group. We should be able to get out of that. I really hope the US pulls the upset and gets first in our group or we're playing Germany in the 2nd round.

yeah, lately i've been even parts (1)hopeful that this is fringe behaviour from those farther to the right than me, (2)terrified that i'm witnessing a situation where statistic really is the plural of anecdote.
