Health Bill Anti-Abortion Measure Rejected by Senate

The US Senate has rejected an attempt to tighten restrictions against coverage for abortion in the proposed health care reform bill: U.S. Senate rejects abortion measure in health bill.

The measure was co-sponsored by Sen. Robert Casey (D-Pa.), Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah). Nelson has threatened to support a filibuster if his anti-abortion language is not included in the Senate bill.
