There's a strong racial element to the Tea Party thing a,d it'd becoming more evident on right wing sites like Hot Air. Pajamas Media posted a review of the new film about Nelson Mandela today called Clint Eastwood’s Invictus: A Colossal Bore

Attracted comments like these...

I often wonder why some White People feel the need to bow down to Africans, and it isn’t because of the history of slavery either, since the Moslem Arabs enslaved far more African Blacks than the Western Whites ever dreamed of, and held them in far more degrading and disgusting conditions than an Alabama plantation owner would ever have thought of.

And all those who somehow still believe that the end of Apartheid was the dawning of freedom for South African Blacks almost certainly don’t live there and have never visited the place either.
Nelson Mandela and his former wife Winnie, were world class haters of Jews and Whites, and used murder and torture to enforce discipline among African National Congress followers as well as to aggrandize themselves.

It's funny how people can be so skeptical about important stuff, but believe the slightest tabloid type gossip. If it really is gossip...

61 Our Precious Bodily Fluids  Fri, Dec 11, 2009 5:02:48pm

I used to listen to Colmes' radio show during the Clinton years. I haven't listened since then (not avoiding it, just haven't had the inclination). I was rather disappointed when I heard Hannity doing a rubbishy version of Colmes' Radio Graffiti bit (unscreened callers get to say one sentence only). There used to be one guy who would always call in and say derogatory things about Buck Owens, and another caller who did a perfect parodic impersonation of Larry King.

The other thing for which I am genuinely appreciative of Colmes' old show is that it inadvertently alerted me to the fantastic music of Huun Huur Tu and the strange style of singing called "throat singing".

Believe it or not, although it was meant solely as a joke, that one joke led me to some new and very VERY different music I'd never heard before, and very indirectly also led me to learn about the physicist Richard Feynman. There's also a Frank Zappa connection, because Zappa had also found out about Huun Huur Tu, and used them in parts of his final recording, the posthumously-released Civilization Phaze III.

My musical tastes are, putting it mildly, non-standard. But I do have to credit the Alan Colmes Show circa 1992 for that little piece of life enhancement.

For the terminally curious:

Throat singing in the Kargyraa style:

I myself wonder why some people, seeing any attention given to any black person, living or dead, feel the need to freak out and recite a long list of historically dicey or irrelevent grievances. Don't like Mandela? Fine, criticize Mandela. But bitching and moaning about how great apartheid and slavery in Alabama were is simply racist drivel.

I think that's why it is so revealing. It's common to see racism on right wing site now because their complaints are often racially motivated. Drudge, Rush and Michelle Malkin promoted a video of a black kid hitting a white kid on a schoolbus as an indication of what's happening to "our" ("white") children under Obama's rule.

He wrote a book about his father but not his mother." Now she won't stop. She must have just read Michelle's thesis and Michelle wrote about how she hates white people. And Michelle has the biggest staff of ladies in waiting. It's unprecedented (I think I heard this one before.) Tiger's not so bad. He admits he not all black. Blecchh.

Reminds me of a story in a West Coast altie rag some years back, decrying the swing revival. If you liked swing, the "thinking" went, that meant you were nostalgic for a time when black were oppressed, and thus that meant you were racist. True story, wish I could find the link, but it's been years.

PJ Media is just fine with these kinds of comments now. It's part of their new policy of welcoming racists and bigots at the site, even as writers.

It's extremely unpleasant, especially in the light that it's been the right which has - correctly - criticized the abhorrent practice of "advocacy journalism" so prevalent in Universities and increasingly in the media, to see it being so brazenly and openly practiced by it's very detractors. And to see it carried beyond even their own most feverish nightmares, all the way into outright lies and open calls for discrimination and violence.

I will say, though, as I did of the Left and it's similar excesses, that one good thing about the Internet is that it gives the loons something to do - and someplace to go where they can be watched.

Not much comfort, I'm afraid.

Here's the url for the stream (it's in windows media format):
[Link: mfile.akamai.com...]

If you you do an Open URL in VLC, WMP, WinAmp or any other player that supports the format you should be able to listen in without using the browser plugin.

Also I don't think the free podcasts will be much use. They only seem to include the first 11 or so minutes of the show. A subscription is required to hear the full 3 hours. I could probably record the show, crop to the part with Charles and encode as an mp3, but I'm not sure if that would be allowed under fair use?

She's still going. Actually I missed what she said. She wants him to admit he's white. I couldn't help myself so I asked her what he's supposed to do. "He never acknowledges his white mother. If I post her phone number would one of you call her and get her out of the room?

I just don't know what these folks want the Obamas to do. I mean, fix the economy, OK, but most of this stuff is so weird and trivial. Does Obama really have a moral responsibility to give both sides of his family equal print coverage?

Blecchh.

Reminds me of a story in a West Coast altie rag some years back, decrying the swing revival. If you liked swing, the "thinking" went, that meant you were nostalgic for a time when black were oppressed, and thus that meant you were racist. True story, wish I could find the link, but it's been years.

Silly, but on the other hand, some of these swing people are bleeping psychotic.

The Buttocks

A married couple was in a terrible accident where the man's face was severely burned. The doctor told the husband that they couldn't graft any skin from his body because he was too skinny. So the wife offered to donate some of her own skin.

However, the only skin on her body that the doctor felt was suitable would have to come from her buttocks. The husband and wife agreed that they would tell no one about where the skin came from, and they requested that the doctor also honor their secret. After all, this was a very delicate matter.

After the surgery was completed, everyone was astounded at the man's new face. He looked more handsome than he ever had before! All his friends and relatives just went on and on about his youthful appearance!

One day, he was alone with his wife, and he was overcome with emotion at her sacrifice. He said, 'Dear, I just want to thank you for everything you did for me. How can I possibly repay you?'

'My darling,' she replied, 'I get all the thanks I need every time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek.'

They exist solely to dissect everything that appears here in the most minute detail, and to spin what shreds they can into the most hateful, twisted distortions their imaginations can conjure.

They're a lot like Malkin in that regard.

Consistency, rationality, common sense and other attributes of intelligence don't even begin to enter into such activities.

And as I've pointed out in the past, giving them any sort of notice is giving them exactly what they want - attention. I'm sure there's a large pile of Kleenex piled in the corner over there right now as a result of these posts, and they're not saturated with snot.

Actually, I've been removing Iron Fist's worst comments for years. But recently, I decided not to wait for people to pick through nearly 8 million comments and use the ones I missed to smear me, and deleted all of them with the Nuke Tool.

There's nothing hidden about it - I announced it when I did it, and I am not at all embarrassed about doing it.

My advice would be to leave them to it.

As if I had a choice. They're unhinged internet stalkers. I don't know- you might feel a little bit differently about speaking out against them if they were lying about you.

Thank God the Internet isn't close to being real life yet. Too many decent people who are in the middle like you would be killed by extremists on both sides. Scratch that- it would literally be Civil War 2.0 probably.

You, the viewer, will surely take "DO NOT COPY" to mean something quite different from its original intent.

Look at where the "DO NOT COPY" is placed on the photo of JFK. Point taken; I hope not to copy.

Fixed. LGF Watch is a pathetic and laughable place. A leftist version of your garden variety stalker blog (which they proudly claim to be). Bereft of traffic they continue for some unknown reason.

Yep. Regardless of whether they are on the left or the right. They seem to be a minority within a minority within a minority. Right down to an individual pathology and obsession. The internet is the perfect medium for these deranged minds to find a voice where it was once confined to the man on the street corner with a bullhorn or pamphleteering.

For all I know, they may be. I really don't care. My name back here in real life isn't "SixDegrees" and there's no way for them to connect that moniker to who I really am, so anything they have to say about "me" is said from a deep, dark well of ignorance right from the get-go. It doesn't affect me in the least, and it certainly isn't something worth going out of my way to view, if it's there.

Now, if they launched an effort to find out real personal information about me, I might be concerned. Been there, done that, and it wasn't fun. The result, though, was a lot more care about revealing such information in the first place. I also picked up enough legal savvy and wherewithal to be able to bitchslap them so hard it'd knock their tiny brains out of their heads should they so much as try such a stunt.

I've gone there since you mentioned them. They need to be watched, in case they show signs of imminent threat, but they feed on attention. Starving them is about the only tool the intertubes offers.

I've grown up with Nancy, Barbara, Hillary, Laura and now Michelle. (Betty and Rosalynn came and went before I knew what a First Lady was.) Politics aside, I like them all; think they all elevated the country and made me proud...but Jackie O really is the shining star in this elite group! Furthermore, I think they'd all acknowledge that fact.

Well, Alan interrupted me, but I was going to expand on that. I have Muslim friends who I've known for years, some of whom I ride bicycles with, and we remained friends during and after the 9/11 attacks. It's not something I would normally bring up, but when people accuse me of being "anti-Muslim" I think it's relevant.
