Video: Massive Crowd Gathers for Tea Party Die-In

Charles Johnsonfollow me on twitter

Millions of tea partiers gathered in Washington DC today, to stage a “die-in” protest against health care and demonstrate how little difference remains between the far left and the far right. Here’s tea party “activist” Mark Meckler, whipping up the massive throng and getting them ready to “die” for the cause.

Oh, wait. Did I say “millions?” I meant a few dozen.

Terribly sorry. I'm too busy to die today.

But they'll be holding a rally with thousands of people. They said so.

They wouldn't lie, would they?

I'm sure Fox has some appropriate footage ready to splice in if they are unable to send a live correspondent to pump up the "masses".

4 SixDegrees  Tue, Dec 15, 2009 9:34:28am

If we extrapolate the crowd density shown to the surrounding area, I'd estimate that there are at least 12 trillion people present. Possibly more.

5 Baier  Tue, Dec 15, 2009 9:34:46am

I think the term million and baker's dozen is synonymous. I'll have to check my thesaurus.

There was more cameras than protesters, from the sound of it.

Perhaps the political theatre is causing some tea partiers to second guess what's going on here. I can only hope their showings continue to get smaller and smaller.

We earned another mention from neoconfederate blogger RSM again this morning...

They tithe the mint and cumin of racial self-righteousness, and when they make a proselyte, he is "twofold more the child of hell." (Sharmuta and Killgore Trout come to mind here.) They react with predictable fury toward anyone who calls them out for their pharisaical fraudulence, as the ugly reality of their dishonest hypocrisy contradicts the virtuous reputation they covet.

DC bus service statistics from the period between 9:10 and 9:17 this morning and corrected for seasonal and day of week variances are about 6 jillion times higher than a similar period sampled at another time. Which backs up my earlier estimate.

Apparently, Palin, like Charles has changed opinions on AGW, just in the other direction.

"Palin mentioned having created the climate change unit in an op-ed she wrote last week for The Post. What she didn't acknowledge was the contrast between what she says about climate change now and what she said -- and did -- about it as governor of our most at-risk state. When she was in office, Palin treated the issue as serious, complex and worthy of urgent attention. Now that she's the iconic leader of a populist movement that reacts with anger at the slightest whiff of pointy-headed, "one world" intellectualism, she writes as if the idea of seeking ways to mitigate climate change is a crock. "

re: #83 blueherron

They're probably all retired.

When there was an anti-war protest and the "Don't these people have jobs" question came up, I would usually remind them that the protests are often at or near college campuses, and therefore most were just college students.

I'm assuming many at this protest are old retired conservatives or pissed off unemployed folks, but I'm sure there are at least a few who are paid staffers for some conservative organization.

I'm sure this photo has been doctored by the evil MSM--thousands of people, if not billions, have been removed--in order to subvert the true teabagging will of the people.

Also the low turnout must somehow be Obama's fault.
