There are two days left to order from Amazon in time for Christmas with free Super Saver Shipping, and they have quite a few exceptional deals going; here are a few that may interest you:
(Note: if you click through to Amazon from one of our links, LGF gets a small percentage in referral fees on all qualifying merchandise, without raising the cost to you, so you get terrific deals and help support us at the same time.)

I've been meaning to ask: is there a link that i can use to buy a kindle for my wife where you get a referral? Also mp3 players - non apple / open / solid state.

Also, if you click the button in the left sidebar that says "Shop at Amazon as an LGF Associate," anything you buy in that session qualifies for the referral.

Open meaning it just shows up as a hard drive in Windows?
There are also the big Amazon buttons on the left side just a little below the menu that you can use when Charles doesn't have a list of links in the post.
Although -- I think the referral fee is larger if you click a direct link to a product and buy it, instead of browsing to another page during that session.
Yes it's expensive but worth it imo. I normally avoid universal remotes because they never work right. Normally they'll replace two of the four remotes which is better but not ideal.
This remote successfully replaced the remote for our new Vizio TV, our Series 2 Tivo, our Sony MiniDVD system and a VCR that's at least 20 years old. Additionally it has it's own charging base so no batteries to replace. It also has a motion detector so the backlighting and video screen are lit as soon as you pick it up.
Charles please feel free to edit my link and add the proper referral information. I posted before I noticed the top links had the appropriate arguments.
Ordinarily I'd jump at the Kindle deal just 'cuz I want one, and it would also support the site. But to be honest, I've so enjoyed the free Kindle iPhone app I just don't really feel the need anymore. =/

Check the link -- I'm way ahead of you. Got a regex that changes Amazon links to include the referral ID.

Happy Holidays!
By the way -- I have one of these remotes, and it's absolutely fantastic. I tried several other universal remotes, and this one was by far the best. Worth the money, in my opinion.
I just want players that don't stick you with a family of semi proprietary formats and a "store" that you have to use to move stuff to and from.
So - errr - I guess "yes" would answer your question.
I really like the RCA Lyra players as I HATE Itunes and all that tagging and reshuffling of my music. I just want to make my own folders then drag and drop my mp3s.
Amazon's best program is the double secret probation "Vine" program, where you get sent free stuff in exchange for writing a review (positive or negative) about it. It's mostly larded up with romance novels, but there is a nice amount of electronics that pop up from time to time. My record is a $250 digital picture frame/wireless media center, but I've seen people walk off with laptops, treadmills, and other high end bits. The bi-monthly newsletters listing the deals redefine the phrase "feeding frenzy".
I just picked up this home ice cream maker for a family member:

I read some of the Amazon reviews but all these video reviews were also helpful: [Link: www.expotv.com...]
When I'm visiting I just need to remember to sneak the freezer bowl into the back of the freezer a day in advance so it's ready to make some ice cream when they unwrap the rest of the gift :P.
Left 4 dead 2 looks to be $30 for PC and $40 for the 360 too
yeah, gotta give Microsoft their pound of XBox flesh. :D What a conundrum the console wars have been: PS3: great hardware, harder to code for, smaller library Xbox 360: unreliable hardware, easier to code for, bigger library. Wii: Overpriced and ancient Gamecube hardware shoved into a white box with waggle sticks.
At least the PS3 is out of the stratosphere for price, I'm still waiting for a killer app to compel me to buy it. maybe the new Gran Turismo...
Ohhh I want a Kindle. Then I go to the link & see the bigger Kindle for 459.00...what to do, what to do...
It's hard enough lighting a fire with crumpled up web pages. What will the religious right do if their "book" burnings require a hazardous materials disposal permit?

Sister, women have been feeding and nurturing others for thousands of years. Besides, I do it ironically and subversively of course. Doesn't that count?
Speaking of counting, How goes the diss? Still battling shape rape and the phallic oppression of the number 1, I hope.

Book deleting just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Did Amazon ever back down on that .25$ fee for turning text files and such into kindle files? I really want to get one but I won't put up with that on moral grounds.

The new Kindle OS has a native PDF reader, so you can just transfer PDF files over and read them on the Kindle. No translation necessary.

I WANT MY QUARTER GOD DAMMIT
:D
I won't be getting a kindle, because I can't justify the price. For $450, I am halfway to a Cintiq 12wx, and also I am very hard on computer equipment. I'd rather just keep buying dog-eared used books from Powells.

I don't want to talk about how much money I just spent at Powell's for Christmas presents. o_o; I think half of Portland must have been in the store last Saturday.
And brewing beer (which I have never done, but I have like half a dozen friends who do) isn't hard so much as it requires patience and attention to detail. A friend of mine who is no expert managed to brew a really serviceable IPA, that tasted quite pro.
OK, I need two very basic cordless phones, but not as basic as the *%#@% $15.00 ones from WalMart. Would be nice if they were that cheap, but worked all the time. Any suggestions? Only need one line.
They also seem completely unbothered by the Birch Society at CPAC.
Yep, not a single word of disapproval, except from 'Andy in Agoura Hils' who was banned for spewing hate speech at LGF, but apparently draws the line at the John Birch Society.
So when you two went out the other night drinking did you dance the night away?
Don't make me come over there and give lessons.. *wink*
Kind regards
Cheers Hoops! No, it wasn't that kind of a place - it was a charming old pub with an art nouveau style exterior/details. We had a private snook at the back, with a roaring fireplace. Very romantic :)
By 'drunken' I take it you mean loaded - loaded that is, with aquatic mystery and the enigma of the hidden or submerged? ;-)
btw - correct delivery of this (perfectly cromulant) poem can be heard here:

Nice. Though we've been in North America since the French and Indian War, it's long been a dream to do a tour of Scottish and Welsh Pubs, drunk, with guitar in hand. Clan Donnachaidh!
