Boy, this “Obama Derangement Syndrome” really has gotten out of hand. Why, just this past week the decreasingly popular president has been called a “bald-faced liar,” “an executive who can’t bring himself to lead,” and even an “Uncle Tom.”

And that’s just by liberals. The progressive crack-up, before Obama even reaches the end of his first year, has been an awesome and occasionally humorous sight to see.
.......
Yet there are lessons we can all learn from Obama’s lost year. Chief among them is the insight that when you project all your hopes, desires, and even fears onto a Rorschach test of a politician — whether Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, or otherwise — not only are you bound to be disappointed, you might just deserve it, too.

The guy's an ass. But it's a typical DC reaction to something they don't understand: snow. I've seen that city completely paralyzed by a half-inch of the stuff; around here, we don't even give that a second glance. In DC, however, you get vehicles sliding all over the place, into each other, storefronts, pedestrians...it's a nightmare. And they don't have the equipment to do anything about it.

That much snow down there has gotta be like the apocalypse.

He'll have a long road to recovery still, but he's out of danger and I'm grateful. Poor kid is only 27 and will spend Christmas with an O2 mask on-- but not dead.

Oh, and the first thing he did was ask for a beer.

Tend to agree, if 17 is old enough to legally grant consent. Certainly a fireable offense, without question. But criminal? I'm not so sure.

[Link: www.torontosun.com...]

A Grade 6 health teacher in Richmond Hill was transferred to another school after he inadvertently showed 30-plus students pornography that he had taped over with an educational video about the H1N1 virus.

When the public health segment ended, on came the adults-only video from his personal collection.

No arrests, just transferred the teacher to a different school. The reactions from the parents was pretty level-headed too. The reason I'm pointing this out is because I went to school with this guy:

He confiscated a CD from a student and popped it into his PC at his desk and Autoplay took it from there. It was midget porn. It was on for maybe 10 seconds before he could get it turned off and they arrested his ass. They tried to get him to take a plea and actually do a little time in jail!

However this report seems credible....
London faces Mumbai-style terror attack: Scotland Yard

In a "severest" warning, the Scotland Yard has said that London faces threat of a Mumbai- style terror attack at key places early next year with the terrorists poised to strike the city using handguns, bombs and hostage-taking techniques.

"Mumbai is coming to London," warned a senior detective from SO15, the Metropolitan police's counter-terrorism command.

In a briefing here 12 days ago, the detective said companies should expect a "shooting and hostage-taking raid involving a small number of gunmen with handguns and improvised explosive devices."

The severest warning issued by police following the 26/11 terrorist attack on Mumbai has underlined an assessment that a terrorist cell may be preparing an attack on London early next year, The Sunday Times reported today.

More about Hentoff, which I've found to be true since I read his columns regularly:

A self-described uncategorizable libertarian, Hentoff adds he is also a “Jewish atheist, civil libertarian, pro-lifer.” Accordingly, he has angered nearly every political faction and remains one of a few who has stuck to his principles through his many years of work, regardless of the trouble it stirred up.

He's always worth reading, imo, even when I don't agree with him.

re: #153 albusteve

I only made it to this part....

I try to avoid hyperbole, but I think Obama is possibly the most dangerous and destructive president we have ever had. An example is ObamaCare, which is now embattled in the Senate. If that goes through the way Obama wants, we will have something very much like the British system. If the American people have their health care paid for by the government, depending on their age and their condition, they will be subject to a health commission just like in England which will decide if their lives are worth living much longer.

This is why I don't pay attention much to the voices against healthcare reform. Our system is going to be nothing like the British single payer system. It looks like there won't even be a public option. He then goes on to repeat the Death Panel lie. If healthcare reform was really so bad then why can't people oppose it without lying?
I think the real fear is that healthcare reform will actually work.

Long, slow rise times make a big difference with sourdoughs. Actually, most breads benefit from them; makes a big difference in the final flavor. Give those yeast the opportunity to excrete their little hearts out.

We were putting a roof on my dads house years ago. Dad came outside and said that my sister had her baby (I lost count at 30 kids for her) my Uncle asked "Has she figured out what's causing it?"

Dad (deaf as a post, didn't understand him) and said, "18 inches!".

My brothers and my Uncle and I almost fell off the roof laughing.

I wonder if the cowboys kicker got fired on the way back to dallas last night or if they're going to wait until today to do it.

Nick Folk was my starting kicker for the first half of the season for fantasy football, and he did alright. Then he started missing field goals left and right (heh, that works on a couple different levels). It wouldn't surprise me if they brought someone in for a workout. I benched Folk over a month ago.

Well, I'm sure he didn't sleep well. On a night when the rest of the team took a step back from the brink of losing their jobs, he took another step in that direction.

Now if they'd lost, he might have had to secure his own transportation back to Dallas.

Allah Pundit continues his Twitter deflection and strawman arguments about yesterday's Hot Air Comments of the Day:

Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher Turns out I'm a racist hater. I'm always the last to know
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher Did you know that the NYT magazine has a profile of him in the works? Further proof that Pavlov was right
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher Interesting question: If he's all about indicting the right, how come he only focuses on our comments?
RWSparkle:
@allahpundit are you all snowed in? Did you find a liquor store that delivered?
Allah Pundit:
@RWSparkle I am well stocked
Allah Pundit:
@justkarl No. Less well stocked since being told I'm a racist hater
Just Karl:
@allahpundit It's quite the accusation, coming from someone who could've retired if he had a dollar for time he was called that.
Allah Pundit:
@justkarl Indeed!
Allah Pundit:
@RWSparkle Oh, just lgf harvesting its comments of the day from our 3000-4000
Allah Pundit:
@RWSparkle 3000-4000 is how many we get. He pulls 10-20 or so from that
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher You should pitch a new show about blogs' comments sections. Compelling viewing, no?
Thatcher:
@allahpundit I always presumed it was something personal against The Boss.
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher Yeah, probably is
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher If it wasn't, he'd be patrolling comments at Free Republic, Ace's site, Red State, etc etc etc
Allah Pundit
@Thatcher You have to understand: The comments game, as so much else in the 'sphere, isn't about genuine outrage
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher It's about point-scoring. Lefties will pile on eventually, even though sites like HuffPo...
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher ...regularly close comments when reporting on a righty's death to avoid the "hooray!" bullshit in their comments
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher Fun fact: I once defended Kos against Bill O'Reilly once on our site when O'R pulled this shit on him
Allah Pundit:
@Thatcher No good deed goes unpunished

He really seems to be missing the point.

I mean he's basically admitted he's read at least some of your post. It's kind of hard for him to make an argument for unrepresentative comment mining when once the extremist comments have been brought to his attention, he (yet again) proves he's OK with them by failing to do any kind of moderation (even on the worst of the worst).

Come on AP, if you really want to salvage some credibility on this, stop whining and delete some of that garbage.

LGF gets 3000+ comments a day too, but somehow I seem to be able to keep the wishes for death, destruction, hellfire and revolution out of them -- and post articles too. And eat, and sleep, and even ride my bike. It takes some work but it's not impossible at all.

Of course, you have to want to keep that stuff off your blog, and clearly the policy at Hot Air is to pander to these freaks and haters.

As for the idea that I have "something personal" against Michelle Malkin, it's ridiculous. What I have is a distaste for a right wing blogosphere that's turned into a fever swamp of hatred.
