I've been studying the mandolin for a couple of months now, but there aren't many examples out there, or at least I just haven't seen any until now.
And I finally see a use for the silly curly-q on the f-style mandolin. Pointless baroque ornamentation. Of course electric guitars suffer from that as well, but f-style mandolins have oddly standardized it. The curls add significantly to the cost and ...look pretty.
Maybe I'll trade in my a-style when I can play like that.
